A Wild Heart – Part 17:

A fanfare was sounded the next morning as two Kings, two Ladies and a Reeve arrived at the Barrowfield. Éowara, Éowyn and Éomer bowed their heads to the past rulers of Rohan, taking their time as they passed the tombs of Théoden. Éothain even bowed his head to his uncle.

It seemed the whole of Edoras was lining the path to Meduseld; everyone wanting to catch a glimpse of the Ladies Éowara and Éowyn, home from Gondor. A child held out a flower to Éowara and she was swiftly down off Gléoda and down to the child's level and thanked him for the flower before another child approached shyly and said she admired Éowara for her bravery. Éowyn had come to her sister's side and smiled softly as the two spoke with the children of Edoras. Éothain nodding to Éomer and Aragorn to carry on up to Meduseld.

The sisters spent a while talking to the children before remounting their horses and carried on the walk up to Meduseld. Éowara's hair was adorned with odd flowers that the children had given her and Éowyn had decided to copy her sister's actions as it had been the easiest thing to do at the time.

The two walked into Meduseld with Éothain behind them and they headed up to the throne.

"Sorry for the delay. The children wanted to speak with us," Éowara spoke as she shuddered at the memories that Meduseld was bringing up for her. This didn't go unnoticed by Éomer as he watched his sister.

"This afternoon Éowara and myself will be going for a ride throughout Kingstead," Éomer spoke as he looked around at everyone, my sister, King Aragorn and Reeve Éothain will be remaining here whilst my youngest sister and I are away," he said and everyone nodded and bowed before the food and wine was served.

"Why are we going for a ride brother?" Éowara asked as she looked at her brother.

"Because I would like to speak with you. I know what has been happening with Éowyn but you…? Not so much and I wish to speak with you and see what is happening with you and discover the truth about Boromir."

Éowara's eyes widened as she looked at her brother as he spoke of Boromir and she wondered how he knew about Boromir but decided not to ask as she had no doubt he would seek the truth from her. It was a truth she was just starting to open up about.

Éomer looked at his sister with a look in his eye,

"Yes. There are some things I know about already but not in detail like you will tell me this afternoon," he said and Éowara looked at her sister, who just looked away, confirming that she may well have spoken to their brother certain things.

Éowara sat quietly and listened to everyone else having discussions about the affairs of the world. That was how she learnt about the world when she was in one place.

"I hear my cousin will be doing a lot of rebuilding in the North," Éothain said as he wanted to know more about what Éowara would be doing in the North.

"She will be yes," Aragorn said, "she will be rebuilding the old Capital of Annúminas. It is time to restore the Capital of the Northern and Reunited Kingdom. That may be the Ruling Seat of the North as well."

"Which may be me as well," Éowara spoke as she looked at her cousin, "I need to rebuild or destroy places in Gondor before I decide if I'm going to settle and where," she said as she had a drink of wine before coughing as some went down the wrong way.

"Destroy places in Gondor?" Éothain asked as he looked at his youngest cousin.

"The first Minas Ithil is lost," Éowara spoke as she looked at Éothain, "the evil that lives in that valley has been there to long. It is lost and needs to be razed. I will be restoring Osgiliath and the Seats of Isildur and Anárion and the brothers will be reunited. I shall also be ordering a new Minas Ithil to sit on the river Anduin and Minas Morgul will become but a memory," she spoke as she looked around. "I am but a woman of Rohan and Gondor but have seen more than you think sometimes."

"You have travelled far?" Éothain asked as he looked at her.

"She's been to places we had no idea she'd been to. The only place she hasn't set foot in is the Shire," Aragorn spoke, "she respects my wishes there… despite the obvious that she wishes to go there," he said and looked at Éothain, "she wishes to go there though but she also knows the laws."

"You will make for the North Downs then and through to Evendim that way," Éothain spoke and Aragorn nodded.

"Yes. I will need to go to Esteldín as well so Éowara will finally discover where that is hidden but I have my suspicions she already has discovered where it lies," Aragorn spoke as he glanced at Éowara who just carried on eating and not saying anything.

"If she is able to disguise herself as a soldier then she can find a hidden city," Éomer spoke as he looked at his sister, "she learnt most of that from Éowyn and they know it," he said as he looked at Éowyn.

"She had to learn something brother and I realise that now that she needed to learn. She is different to us and that has always been obvious," Éowyn spoke as she looked at her brother. She loved Éomer but would always defend her younger sister as well. She saw so much of herself in Éowara that it was hard not to defend the youngest child. She carried on eating in silence, just listening to the conversation the men were having and looked forwards to the journey to the Broadacres to see Fríthild that couldn't come soon enough. The first thought on her mind in the near future was her brother and sister and the ride they would be taking that afternoon.
