A/N #1: Great to get the feedback for the last chapter I did so I'll get started on my thank yous for that! Mb (Really great you thought the first half was another fantastic update. No surprised you mentioned the middled clues since that'll happen. And I had to include Skye and Mary since they needed to ferry the jewels, lol. I wasn't surprised you thought it was interesting someone was watching Harrington but not hurting her. And yeah, still not totally clear from the Vernons about what happened to them. And I figured Harrington would be their beneficiary since I did say they were close to her. Not surprised at your question about the person using her to get to the jewels since she's the heir. And again, not surprised you're wondering who it is since they've shot at them twice and injured one of the officers. Of course more questions and more violent too you're right. You're welcome for the first half of the chapter! Yeah, I didn't really want things to go too badly for Bernier, though of course it's still bad of course! And I figured the killer would think Harrington would know so much since she was so close to the victims. I wanted a surprise reveal of the jewelry, lol, so did want that find in Harrington's home. I was unsure of what people would think of Fox and Harrington, lol, at this point in the investigation so I was glad you mentioned it. And I did want the surprise of an officer being from one of the families so I'm glad you mentioned that as well! I was pleased to see what you thought of Jinko's analysis about the jewels, another surprise, lol. And I'm not surprised at your guess about why Skye collapsed, lol, you'll see why I promise. So great you thought the second half was a wonderful update! You're welcome for the second half of the chapter!).

Thanks for the review, loved reading it and I appreciate the time taken to write it out and send it my way!

A/N #2: The title of this chapter is a lyric from the song I'm in Love with My Car written by Roger Taylor, from the Queen album A Night at the Opera.

With The Pistons A-Pumping

"I think she's coming around."

"I feel like I should call an ambulance."

"She wouldn't want you to."

"Mary's right," Skye said slowly as she opened her eyes. "I don't."

"You're okay?" Brad asked.

"Yeah, let me sit up," Skye told everyone though she was speaking to her wife since she was closest. She was relieved when Mary let her and once she was sitting she said, "They're… a little upset."

"A little?" Mary said with a frown.

"They know how precious the brooch is, they just remembered," Skye said. "And their anger at us not finding it was a little overwhelming," she added, squeezing her wife's arm. "And yes, it was a little."

"Alright," Mary said with a sigh before her wife was trying to stand. "Wait, wait," she said with a frown.

"I'm fine," Skye said firmly.

"I'll help," Beckett said, hurrying over to the investigator's other side. Once she was standing she told Skye, "You might want to sit."

"After I was just laying… thank you," Skye started to say before she directed the last to Castle since he was handing her a mug of tea. "And thank you for making Earl Grey," she added before she sat at the table. Glancing around the room she asked, "Jinko?"

"Darnley escorted him out," Brad explained.

"Oh good," the carpenter himself said as he entered the office. "I was afraid you weren't going to be awake."

"I am," Skye said. "But where exactly does this leave things?"

"I think you mean for us," Brad said simply.

"Chief," Emerson said from the doorway of the office. "They think they have the car you saw driving away from the vic's house."

"Okay," Brad said, going out of the office.

"You guys can go," Skye said. "I'll stay here."

"You don't think she might need to go?" Castle said, looking at Mary's hands that were nearly clutching Skye's right.

"Not at this point," the investigator replied before she and her wife looked on while the two left with Darnley.

"Oh good, I was just about to call you," Brad told them. "It is the car, CSU is on its way and I want us to have a look at it." He hesitated and said, "Without Skye?"

"Mary isn't going to let her go," Beckett replied simply before they were leaving the room together. She and her husband drove in their car on their own, Darnley going with Brad before they were heading to the outskirts of the city.

"Did you see the car at all?" Castle asked his wife when they were slowing down behind Brad's cruiser.

"No, but he was sure of the beginning of the license plate," Beckett said firmly.

"Oh…" Castle said when he looked at the plate himself and saw the sticker on the side.

"I get the feeling we're going to go home soon," Beckett said before they were getting out of the car at the same time.

"If I'd seen that sticker it would have been a different story," Brad said to everyone.
"You're going to have a lot of names to search," Darnley commented.

"Not the families though," Brad replied before he glanced at the country club sticker prominently on the plate.

"What do they have these for?" Darnley then asked. "I completely forgot about them."

"Excursions," Castle said. "Around the island and to the city." He then called to Brad, "If it was signed out to go somewhere else we'll have a harder time finding out if someone stole it."

"If it was stolen," Brad said. "It might not be likely but hopefully whoever took it was our shooter."

"It's stolen," Beckett said as she'd been walking around the car. She wasn't surprised when the other three men were turning to her and nodded towards the automobile saying, "The ignition."

Spotting that as well, Brad groaned and said, "At least they'll have some kind of security footage."

"I thought of that Chief," Wade said, at the scene when they'd arrived.

"Have you talked to anyone here at the houses?" Brad asked his officer.

"Not yet sir, I didn't want anyone coming up to the car," Wade replied. "Want me to start?"

"That would be nice," Brad said. "Emerson should be coming out shortly and he'll assist." After the officer had left he turned to the other three and said, "There isn't much more you can do, but I'm going to call the country club now and have them send over the list of club members. You remember how the cars are stored."

"I do," Castle said, since that had been directed to him.

"Then I think our best bet is a member that's part of the club or related," Brad said. He paused for a moment and then asked, "They still have the guest pass program right?"

"They do," Beckett answered before her husband could.

"Okay, then start looking into the names. It's late for you guys already but if you can help us by starting then I'd appreciate that," Brad said.

"We will," Darnley said, the writers nodding in agreement with him. "Though I'm wondering if we can see the trunk?"

"You can," Brad said, waving to the CSU van that was approaching. "I want to see that first."

"It'll be empty," Castle said. He wasn't surprised when the chief and Darnley were looking at him and he said, "It was transportation, nothing else."

"Pessimistic?" Brad responded immediately.

"I think you mean practical," Castle said. "Because I've been around Kate for a long time. Also I know what this killer wants."

"The jewelry," Brad said, not surprised when his friend nodded. He then said, "Okay, I'll ask them to open the trunk right now and then you guys can head back."

Waiting for CSU, the three looked on while they were shortly after opening the trunk and Darnley looked at Castle when it was revealed to be empty.

"Right," Brad said with a nod. "Go back, they'll have the names for you to start on once you get there," he directed to his consultants since he'd called the country club while they'd waited for CSU to start.

Heading to their car, Darnley couldn't help saying to the writers, "You were expecting this already."

"We were," Beckett said first.

"But we wanted to see the car," Castle added. "We probably should have told you," he said slowly as he unlocked the doors.

"Oh don't worry," Darnley told him rapidly. "I wanted to see it too. I'm glad we did since of course we have a lead… a lead with a lot to investigate but still." He was sitting in the backseat and when something came to mind he rushed to put on his seatbelt and said, "Do you think Skye is going to want to go back to your house."

"No," Castle and Beckett said at the same time. They glanced at each other before he was driving away from the curb and said, "She'll try to help but there's only so much she can do."

"Legally," Beckett told him. She then realized her husband and Darnley were both looking at her and said, "Oh I'm not going to try and convince her. Mary needs to do that."

"She's probably already trying to do that right now," Castle commented. "From the moment we left the office."

"And they'll still be there," Darnley said before he was looking outside at the sky.

Once they were at the station Beckett said, "I'm not going to have any luck."

"I thought it would be worth a shot," Darnley said. "It's terrifying to see her like that."

"Very," Castle said, parking before they were leaving the car and heading inside.

"So… there was nothing in the car then?" Skye asked after the three were walking into the office.

"There was something on the outside," Castle said simply.

"Do you want to unpack that since he doesn't?" Skye directed to her friend when he didn't continue.

"How're you feeling?" Beckett responded.

"Fine, stronger," the investigator replied swiftly. "The car?"

"The license plate had a sticker on the end," Beckett explained. "From the Hamptons Country Club."

"Really?" Skye asked. She looked to her left and said, "They were members."

"So are we," Castle said. "So are… a ton of people. The thing is those cars aren't used that often. And it's a Tuesday," he said, adding the last at the end before he could see his wife was shaking her head.

"That might not mean anything," Beckett told her husband. "I would wait to see what the club says about that particular car."

"I hate to suggest this," Skye said. "What if this is a red herring?" She wasn't surprised when Beckett looked doubtful and said, "I know, the car was very likely at the shooting but things aren't adding up," looking at Castle when he was responding.

"Is that your realization or…" he started to say.

"No, my thought process," Skye said. She then looked over at the doorway where Vance was walking inside.

"Are those the names from the country club?" Castle asked, startled since the woman was holding a single post-it note.

"The chief told me the club said they wouldn't be able to physically send a list," Vance replied. "So they're letting us having access to the executive's listing on their site."

Taking the paper Beckett nodded and asked, "Did he mention them telling him anything about the car?" a little startled when the officer simply handed over another post-it.

"What is it?" Darnley asked when she wasn't saying anything.

"The rental car's system is in shambles these days, the security camera system might be down," Beckett read for the others. "Thank you for bringing these."

After Vance nodded to them and left Castle said, "I'm not thinking up a theory for that," since the others had turned to him.

"Really?" Skye asked.

"Really, I think I'd be here the rest of the night trying to think of something that would make the bare minimum of sense," Castle said simply.

"So nothing's coming to mind," Beckett told her husband.

"No," Castle replied before she was squeezing his arm briefly. He was about to ask her how she wanted to tackle the list before Skye was getting their attention.

"I'm wondering if I might do something?" the investigator asked, speaking to everyone though she was mostly talking to Beckett.

"The names?" she responded. At Skye's nod Beckett said, "There are a lot," she warned her.

"There's a way I can do that," Skye said firmly. "If I can do that here at Brad's computer."

"You can," Beckett said, walking over to the computer. She turned it on and went as swiftly as she could to the site they'd gotten before she was vacating the seat. "We'll start out in the office," she told her friend as they stood together.

"Mary's here remember," Skye said, aware already of what her friend wasn't saying.

"But will you listen to her," Beckett said firmly.

"If I don't then she can get you because you're going to obviously stop me," Skye commented.

"I'll keep an eye on her," Mary said, having walked over to them.

Waiting for his wife to walk to him Castle said, "We're working together?"

"We are," Beckett said.

"I'm fine on my own," Darnley said swiftly before they were turning to walk out into the bullpen to begin their work.

With the time it took to search through each name, Beckett wasn't surprised they were only five in once Brad was returning. "You'll have to have the others working overtime," she told him as he looked at the list of names on her computer.

"How many pages?" the chief asked with a frown.

"Seven," Castle answered, looking at the small size of the text.

"Alright," Brad said. He turned to his office and asked, "What is she doing?"

Standing up rapidly Castle explained, "She wanted to look at the names."

"With the vics," Brad asked. At both the writers' nods he said, "That would help a little," before he walked over to his office. He paused and then said, "The cameras were down. They fired the security firm they had in place since they were supposed to take care of that."

"Does that mean there are more names?" Darnley asked, standing from the other desk.

"Yes, but there aren't as many as here," Brad said grimly before he continued to his office.

"Hullo," Skye said, putting her glasses back on when the chief walked into the room. "I hope my using your computer was alright."

"It was," Brad said. "What do you have?"

"These names," Mary said, having been noting the ones her wife had told her to.

Looking at the list, Brad breathed out a little hard and said, "These are all high in society here."

"They told me," Skye said with a nod.

"And none of them have anything to do with the top two tiers of the historical families," Brad added.

"They mentioned that too," Skye replied. "But they told me don't drop the idea of the dozen families."

Nodding, Brad said, "Alright, you guys are done for the day. Head home and I'll call you if we get anything at all."

"We're only on names," Castle couldn't help saying.

Shaking his head Brad said, "We are."

"Can I make a suggestion?" Skye said then. When the chief looked at her she said, "Run these names by Harrington… now, tomorrow?"

"I'll give her a call," Brad said, looking at the list of names again, "Once you leave," he added, looking at the group with him before Darnley was speaking first.

"You're sure we can't help?" the carpenter said.

"I think we might be in trouble for starting to look at the names," Castle said slowly while he was studying the expression on his friend's face.

"As long as no one finds out you were then we're fine," Brad said firmly.

"Am I included for tomorrow?" Skye asked while the others were moving to their coats.

"Yes, I called David and when he learned why you'd come exactly… I'm talking about the bracelet of course," Brad said.

"And she knows the victims," Beckett added.

"Exactly. Now get out of here," Brad told them though he was smiling.

After they'd said goodbye to the chief, the five were walking through the bullpen and saying goodnight to the officers working there. Outside in the parking lot Skye said, "Are you dropping Patrick off or are we?"

"We are," Castle said. "Who's driving?"

"I am," Mary said. "Someone's at the house right?"

"They should be," Castle said. "Park in the main garage."

"We'll see you," Skye called as she and Mary were getting into their rental car.

"I wonder if Harrington's going to know anyone on the list," Beckett said after they were in the car.

"I wonder how she and Fox are getting along," Darnley said. He smiled at his friend and said, "You were thinking the same."

"You were?" Castle asked since he was at a stop sign and had managed to spot the expression on his wife's face.

"To a degree," Beckett said slowly. "But I'm not going to assume anything. You two shouldn't either."

"I knew you'd say that," Darnley said.

"So did I," Castle said when the carpenter tapped his shoulder. "But I don't need her mad at me."

"I'm not mad," Beckett said, giving him a look though it was brief while he was driving again. "I'd like to get back before it gets any later."

"Right," Castle said, suddenly reminded of the freeze for that night and doing his best not to drive any faster though they were nearly back home.
