Main story, chapter five : Where Anakin discards the plot, and the Jedi attempt genealogical tracing and mistake left and right
Anakin was not slow to the update. Being dim-witted was not conductive of a long life in slavery, and being unable to learn neither. So he tracked down Obi-Wan and Master Dooku on his first weeks at the Temple after the pair came back as Sith-killers from Naboo and asked to be told his family story again. Pretty please.
Anakin did not even know his grandma name before coming to the Temple. Mom never spoke about her and she certainly did not tell him she was a Jedi. And Great-grandpa Luke too ! On the other hand, Anakin could understand Mom did not want to speak about them because they were all dead. All of them, and most without getting old enough to see their grandkids. Even Anakin knew some grandma on Tatooine and you did not exactly live old on his home world. And compared to Coruscant were people lived so long they most of the time met their great-grandkids? Not old at all.
Then there was the whole Dyad mess who had been previously hidden behind the prophesy mess. According to Master Nu who took care of the Archives, Dyad were stable when they were two, and unstable alone, which mean Grandma Rey was slowly slipping into madness and quickly losing her strength because she was bleeding out in the Force after her cousin death. It explained why she died when other Dark Siders came to kill her, according to Master Windu, instead of kicking their asses like she did with Palpy.
The Dyad mess sent him straight to Healer Che and her needles to measure his inbreeding quotient. Because of fuzzy text on flimsy who could mean something but also another and finally meant after analysis that Mom was born before or shortly after Ben Solo death, because she was also his daughter. Oh, and according to Mom they were in love, despite being mortal enemies and cousins. It made no sense at all and did not explain all his inbreeding quotient, even pushing the numbers. Healer Che quickly discarded the other option which was that Anakin only had half a genetical code.
So Master Windu made a second trip to Tatooine, ascertained Anakin did not have only Mom code with on and off markers scrambled and got told that Anakin actually had a dad who was "cold death, might and thunder sparks in the air" who Mom did not actually see or touch but whom she felt alone in the middle of the Desert roughly nine months before Anakin birth. According to Master Windu it described very well a powerful Dark Sider. Like Palpy-the-never-dead. Who was the only powerful Dark Sider acknowledged at the time. And having a father who was also a great-great-grandfather explained nicely Anakin still unsolvable inbreeding quotient.
So sometimes knowing his family sucked. Especially when others knew it too. Master Windu got clammy cold when seeing Anakin now. Being the son of a Dark Sider was not easy in the Jedi Order, but Obi-Wan, who was knighted a few months before for killing a Dark Sider who was probably his father apprentice, made short work of the rumors by befriending Anakin. And telling him a lot about Han Solo. His non-Force-sensitive great-grandpa who did not know how to lie and had totally the same hair color as him. Except, you know, Obi-Wan only met him when he was grey-haired. But still, Obi-Wan helped with the masters and promised to take him as a padawan once he found his feet as a Knight, and his caretaker helped with the other Initiates.
No one was exactly happy to know Anakin parentage, because the Council thought it could track Palpy by comparing Anakin DNA with Mom and establish part of Palpy DNA chart based on Anakin inherited markers. Which was a nice plan until they found out the DNA they had did not look like anything known. Apparently Anakin midichlorians were mad and Mom weren't. Which could mean the Light Wall on Mom affected her midichlorians. Or that Palpy's midichlorians were mad and sort of produced more midichlorians and he was like the King of the Force. Or dead, but if he had kids he could not be dead by overabundance of midichlorians. As he wasn't dead the hypothesis that Anakin twice great-great-grandpa, the one that kept changing sides in the Force, was also Palpy son was made. It could not be confirmed but it could not be refuted. It explained how Palpy knew about him and why he wanted him as his apprentice. And why he had a twenty thousand midichlorian count.
Which made Anakin whole family some sort of experiment on midichlorian concentration. Anakin had nightmares of Palpy choosing to take over his body because he was, between Mom and him, the more powerful. Also he was a boy and Mom wasn't. Maybe his great-great-grandpa Palpy the clone thought so too before running away. Master Windu was slightly more sympathetic after Anakin begged him to show him anti-possession technic. Slightly, but Anakin mainly wanted the meditation tips on which he worked like a crazy.
Then, Master Windu decided to see Mom a third time and brought her back to the Temple rather than leaving her on Tatooine where Palpy knew she was. Then they were doing a lot of tests on Mom and put her amongst the Youngling caretakers for the days, but decided they would keep the Light Wall, so Anakin was the only one at risk of being possessed. And they made Mom create a very, very large with a lot of maybe family chart, with the help of Anakin, because he started to know how to write, by then, and Mom did not. Mom blinked, and put all the Skywalker ever, including and up to the first Skywalker so many generation ago. Then, Master Windu found Mom a job on Kiffu, and the Council sent word to a Jedi Master amongst the Tusken to track tales of Force-sensitivity. Anakin guessed they did not believe too much they would find Palpy amongst the Skywalkers of Tatooine.
But knowing his family was also useful. For example his father who killed his twice great-great-grandpa and his grandpa Ben and maybe his great-grandpa Luke tried to take Grandma Rey as his apprentice because she was strong in the Force and his granddaughter. Anakin was strong in the Force and his son, so he had to totally watch out. And the second thing he understood was that twice-great-great-grandpa loved twice-great-great-grandma and she died because he loved her and Palpy wanted him. Identically Great-grandma Leia died because she chose to kill herself to save Great-grandpa Han. And Grandma Rey would have lived and killed her attackers had she not loved Grandpa Ben and activated the Dyad. Mom did not love anybody, so she was probably fine, but Grandpa Luke loved Rey mother and she died. So, because Anakin loved Padmé, he resolved never to marry her and stop to love her, because he did not want her to die. That's what always happened in his family.
