Chapter 33: Clash of the Dragons
"What? Duel Academy, here?"
"Damn it, I thought we lost them!"
"Guess Barrett and I didn't cover our tracks as well as I thought we had."
"Come on, we need to get to Leo Corp. We'll be safe there!"
Just then, a large explosion almost knocked them off their feet.
"What was that?"
"Trouble. Come on, let's go!"
Rounding the corner, the quartet found three Duel Academy soldiers on the ground, groaning in pain while a white-clad motorcycle rider stood over them, glaring. Behind him stood a large white and green dragon, which soon disappeared.
"Now tell me where Rin is! I know you Duel Academy freaks have her!"
"Who's he?"
"I don't know, but maybe he's an ally?"
"Somehow I doubt that."
Sensing that he wasn't alone, the mystery rider turned to the newcomers. When his eyes fell on Serena, he let out a loud gasp.
"Rin Rin?"
"Excuse me?"
The mystery duelist took off his helmet, revealing himself to have the same face as Yuto and Yuya. His face broke out into a wide grin, and he attempted to grab her into a hug.
"Rin Rin!"
Shocked, Serena punched him out of instinct, sending him to the ground.
"What the hell-"
"Rin Rin!"
He tried to hug her again, only to meet the same results. And again. And again. And again...
"What is your problem?!"
"Rin, don't you recognize me? Its me, Yugo!"
"I don't know who this Rin girl is, but my name is Serena!"
Yugo's face fell, and tears began to well up in his eyes. Realizing his situaton, Serena's glare softened.
"Listen, I may not be your friend, but we can help you..."
"YOU!"
Yuto jumped when Yugo pointed his finger at him, eyes blazing with fury.
"You brainwashed her against me! You'd better undo it, or you'll have me to answer to!"
"Look, this is all just a big misunderstanding. If you'll let us explain-"
"Duel me, right here and now! If I win, Rin goes home with me!"
"I told you, my name isn't-"
"Fine."
DUEL!
Yugo: 4000
Yuto: 4000
Then, to everyone's surprise, Yugo boarded his motorcycle and took off, trying to run Yuto over before he jumped out of the way.
"Hey, what gives? You're the one who challenge me, now you're running away? Turn around and duel me!"
"With my Duel Runner, I can do both! And since I don't have any monsters on the field, I can special summon Speedroid Terortop (1200/600)! And when he hits the field, I can add a Speedroid from my deck to my hand, and I choose Speedroid Tri-Eyed Dice! And I'm about to summon him (300/1500)! Now my level 3 Tri-Eyed Dice tunes with my level 3 Terrortop to Synchro Summon Hi-Speedroid Kendama (2200/1600)! And by banishing Terrortop from my graveyard, my Kendama will hit you for 500 points of damage!"
Yuto groaned as his life points took a hit, though he managed to stay upright.
Yuto: 3500
"I'll end my turn with one card face down. If you want to leave here alive, then you better start undoing whatever spell you Rin Rin under!"
"For the last time, my name isn't-"
"Enough. I summon The Phantom Knights of Ragged Gloves (1000/500) in attack mode! And since I already have a Knight on the field, I can call for The Phantom Knights of Silent Boots (200/1200)! Next, I set three cards face down, and with these two monsters I build the overlay network! Rise forth, Rank 3 The Phantom Knights of Break Sword (2000/1000)!"
"So what? My Kendama still has more attack points."
"Not for long. Since Ragged Gloves was used as an overlay unit, my Break Sword gains 1000 attack points (2000-3000). Further more, my Break Sword's effect activates! By detaching one overlay unit, one of my facedowns and your Kendama are destroyed!"
"What?!"
Yugo could only watch in horror as the ghastly knight cut his monster in two.
"Now Break Sword, knock some sense into him!"
Yuto's ghostly knight tried to slash at his opponent, only for an apparition of Yugo's dice card to take the hit.
"Nice try, but by banishing Red Eyed Dice your attack is cancelled."
"I end my turn. Listen, if you'd just hear us out-"
"The only thing I want to hear from you is I surrender! Now, by giving up my Normal Summon, I can bring back my Kendama from the graveyard! Next, I activate One For One, discarding one card so that I can summon Speedroid Red Eyed Dice (100/100). Now, my level 1 Red Eyed Dice tunes with my level 6 Kendama in order to Synchro Summon my Clear Wing Synchro Dragon (2500/2000)!"
Everyone stared in awe as the dragon from before swooped in, roaring proudly.
"Your monster may be impressive, but my Knight still has more attack points!"
"Not for long! I activate my Rirokyu spell card! This steals half of your monster's attack points and gives them to Clear Wing (3000-1500) (2500-4000). Knock his knight off its high horse, Clear Wing!"
Yugo's ace flew up, shooting out streams of energy which disintegrated Yuto's Knight and forced him to duck for cover.
Yuto: 1500
"When Break Sword is destroyed, I can take two Phantom Knights from my graveyard with the same level and bring them back with one level more. Come back, The Phantom Knights of Ragged Gloves and The Phantom Knights of Silent Boots!"
"I end my turn there. Let's see you come back from that!"
"I will, because with my two monsters I build the overlay network and Xyz Summon! Rise forth, Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!"
Yuto's dragon emerged from the portal, roaring with a ferocity rivaled only by his opponent. As the two dragons roared, winds picked up, threatening to blow everyone off their feet.
"This power...what's going on?!"
"This can't be the ARC System, could it?"
"No way, this is far too strong for that!"
Yuto and Yugo remained undeterred, still focused on their duel.
"I activate Dark Rebellion's effect! By detaching both of its overlay units, he steals half of your Dragon's attack points and adds them to his own!"
"I don't think so! Clear Wing has an effect of its own. When any monster activates an effect that targets a level 5 or higher monster on the field, he can negate and destroy it! What's more, that monster's attack points get added to his attack points!"
"That would be the case, but I came prepared! I activate the spell card Rank Up Magic The Phantom Knight's Launch! This takes Dark Rebellion and uses him to summon an Xyz monster with one higher rank, so say goodbye to Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon and say hello to Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon (3000/2500)!"
Yuto's monster burst out of the Xyz portal, looking stronger and more menacing.
"Next, I activate Reuiem's effect. Since Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon is attached as an overlay unit, I can detach one to drain all of your Dragon's attack points and add them to his attack points!"
"No! Clear Wing can only use his effect once per turn!"
Yugo could only watch hopelessly as his dragon was covered in dark lightning, draining it of all its attack points while Yuto's monster gained them all (2500-0) (3000-5500).
"Finish him off, Dark Requiem!"
"Nice try, but I banish the Electromagnetic Turtle I discarded last turn to end your battle phase!"
"Fine then, I end my turn!"
"Oooh, what do we have here? A duel, hmm? Well then, hope you don't mind if I join in!"
Everyone turned to see a lone figure atop a bridge, his face hidden by a cloak
(intrusion penalty: 2000 life points)
Despite the electric shocks, the figure grinned maniacally as he jumped towards the ground, landing with a dull thud.
"And who are you supposed to be? This is between me and him, butt out!"
"But don't you want to know where we're keeping your girlfriend?"
This got Yugo's attention.
"You're from Duel Academy, aren't you? Who are you?"
"Isn't it obvious?"
The figure, giggling like a madman, threw his cloak off, revealing him to have a face just like his opponents. Serena gasped in horror.
"Yuri?"
