Chapter 38: Clash of the Dragons

"This way!"

As the battles waged on around them, the quintuplet of extra dimensional allies made their way to Leo Corp, doing their best to go unseen. Yugo had been forced to ditch his duel runner, a point he loudly contested, but eventually had to concede that it would be for the best.

"How much farther, Shay?"

"Just another block up this way. Come on, let's move!"

"You're not going anywhere!"

Before they could continue, they found their way blocked by a squad of Obelisk Force soldiers led by a commander in a black trenchcoat. When Serena and Barrett saw who was leading them, they stopped dead in their tracks.

"Oh shit."

"What's wrong? It's just a bunch of Academy goons, we can take them!"

"It's not them I'm worried about, Yugo, its who's leading them"

"Hell Kaiser."

Yuto and Shay's blood ran cold. While they had not run into him themselves, they had heard of the brutality of Duel Academy's top student from those fortunate to survive his assaults. The commander chuckled, readying his duel disk.

"So the scum have heard of me. And here I thought I would be lucky to nab the traitors, but it looks like I found two dragons. Now, are we going to do this the easy way, or the hard way?"

Before they could move, a duel anchor came from out of nowhere and snagged him by the wrist, catching him off guard. When they turned around, they were surprised to see that the other end belonged to none other than…

"Mr. Kaiba?"

"Go! I'll hold him off. Just make sure Serena is safe."

Not needing to be told twice, the five teenagers took off, much to the academy agents' annoyance.

"Who are you to get in our way?"

"Let's show him who's boss!"

"No!"

The lower ranked soldiers were surprised by their commander's order.

"But sir-"

"Go! Securing the targets is the first priority. I'll take care of this scrub."

"Right!"

Once his underlings had left, the kaiser turned to Seto Kaiba with a malicious smirk.
"You have guts, I'll give you that. What's your name?"

"I'm Seto Kaiba. You can remember it as the man who will defeat you!"

"Gutsy, but delusional. Since I know your name, I guess it's only fair that I tell you mine. My name is Zane, and it'll be the last name you ever hear!"

"Like I haven't heard that one before."

DUEL!

Kaiba: 8000

Zane: 4000

"Since I'm in a charitable mood, I'll let you go first."

"Big mistake. I'll begin with the spell card, Cards of Consonance! By discarding The White Stone of Legend, I get to draw two cards. In addition, since my Stone was sent to the graveyard, I can add a Blue Eyes White Dragon from my deck to my hand! Next, I activate The Melody of Awakening Dragon! By discarding one card, I can add two Dragons from my deck to my hand. The only catch is that they can't have an attack of less than 3000 and a defense less than 2500. I choose Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon and Blue Eyes Jet Dragon! And because I sent another White Stone of Legend, I can add another Blues Eyes to my hand!

"Are you ever going to summon a monster, or are you just going to keep drawing cards?"

"Impatient to lose, are we? Very well then! Since I don't control any monsters, I can special summon Kaiser Vorse Raider (1900/1200) in attack mode! Next, by revealing the Blue Eyes White Dragon in my hand, I can special summon Blue Eyes Alternative White Dragon from my hand (3000/2500)! Next, I summon The King of D (1200/1100) in attack mode, and activate the spell card Flute of Summoning Dragon!"

Zane scoffed.

"Are you stupid? You need the Lord of D for that card."

"As long as King of D is on the field, his name becomes Lord of D. And since he's treated as such, I can call forth my Blue Eyes White Dragons (3000/2500 X2)!"

Zane smirked, impressed.

"Five monsters in one turn. Not bad."

"I'll end my turn there."

"Not bad, but not good enough! I activate the spell card, Power Bond! Now by sending the two Cyber Dragons in my hand to create Cyber Twin Dragon (2800/2100)!"

"I guess they don't teach math at that academy of yours. Your Dragon can't touch my dragons!"

"Power Bond doubles the attack points of the monster summoned by it (2800-5600)."

"What?"

"Now Cyber Twin Dragon, attack Blue Eyes White Dragon number 1!"

Kaiba: 5400

"And don't think you're off the hook just yet! Cyber Twin Dragon can attack twice per turn!"

"Shit."

"Attack his second Blue Eyes!"

Kaiba: 2800

"I activate the effect of Blue Eyes Jet Dragon from my hand! Since a card was destroyed in battle while I have a Blue Eyes White Dragon in my graveyard, I can special summon it (3000/0)!"

"I activate De-Fusion, splitting my Twin Dragon back into two. Cyber Dragon #1, destroy his King of D!"

Kaiba: 1900

"Now Cyber Dragon #2, destroy his Kaiser Vorse Raider!"

Kaiba: 1700

Despite the damage dealt to his field, Kaiba remained stoic.

"Is that all?"

"Tough guy, are ya? Well let's see how tough you are when I activate Photon Generator Unit! By tributing my two Cyber Dragons, I can call forth Cyber Laser Dragon (2400/1800)! And his effect lets me destroy a monster with more attack points than him, and I choose Alternative White Dragon!"

"Actually, you can't. My Jet Dragon makes it so that no other cards can be destroyed by your card effects."

"Fine, then I'll destroy him!"

Zane's metallic dragon shot a beam of energy from its tail, which ran up the entire length of Kaiba's monster. The moment it stopped, the Jet exploded, almost making Kaiba flinch.

"I'll end my turn."

"You were wise to try and destroy Alternative Dragon, because by giving up his ability to attack this turn, I can turn your Laser Dragon into scrap metal!"

The upgraded dragon opened its mouth and unleashed a bright ball of lightning which decimated Zane's dragon.

"Now I'll sacrifice Alternative White Dragon in order to summon Krystal Dragon (2500/1000) in attack mode! attack him directly!"

Zane: 1500

"Heh. That almost tickled."

"Krystal Dragon's effect activates! Since we're still in the battle step and it battled this turn, I can add any level 8 Dragon from my deck to my hand, and I choose my final Blue Eyes."

"Whatever, not like it'll save you."

"We'll see, won't we? I end my turn."

"Fine, I activate the spell card Pot of Greed! This lets me draw 2 cards."

When Zane saw what cards he had drawn, he grinned wickedly.

"This is it for you! I'll start with the spell card, Future Fusion! I'm sending Cyberdark Keel, Edge, Horn, Clown, and Canon from my deck to the graveyard. Now in two turns, I'll get my strongest monster."

"So what? Not like you'll last long enough to use it."

"Oh really? Let's see what my Overload Fusion has to say about that! By banishing the five monsters I just sent to the graveyard, I can bring out my monster now! Behold, Cyberdarkness Dragon (2000/2000)!"

"You're still 500 attack points short!"

"Don't worry, because when Cyberdarkness Dragon is special summoned, I can equip him with any Dragon or Machine type monster in the graveyard and give him their attack points. And since you've been so kind as to put several in yours for me, I think I'll help myself to one of yours!"

Kaiba seethed in fury as one of his precious Blue Eyes rose from the grave, only to be grabbed by the evil machine and hooked up with various wires (2000-5000).

"Any last words?"

"You. BASTARD!"

"Heh, like I haven't heard that one before. Cyberdarkness Dragon, finish him!"

Scanning the area quickly,he spotted an Action Card a few feet away. Acting quickly, he lunged towards it, managing to grab it in time.

"I activate the Action Card, Selection of Miracle! I choose to half the damage I take!"

Kaiba: 450

Zane quirked an eyebrow, curiously.

"So you're able to pick up cards off the ground and play them? Interesting. I end my turn."

"We'll see how interesting you think it is in a minute. I'll start with the spell card Spellbook inside the Pot! This lets us each draw three cards."

Perfect!

"This duel is over! First, I activate the spell card, Lightning Vortex! By discarding one card, all of your monsters get destroyed!"

"Did you really think it would be that easy? By sending the card equipped to Cyberdarkness Dragon back to the grave, I can negate your effect."

But Kaiba smirked. This was just what he wanted.

"Thanks, you did exactly what I wanted you to do."

"What?"

"I read your card's effect, so I knew you would do that to save it. Now I can activate Dragon's Mirror! By banishing the three Blue Eyes White Dragons from my graveyard, I can call forth my most powerful monster! Behold, Neo Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon (4500/3800)!"

Zane could only watch in horror as the massive three-headed dragon roared at him. Compared to it, his own monster was a mere flea.

"This is for stealing my Blue Eyes! Neo Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, finish him off with Neo Neutron Blast!"

In an instant, Zane's monster was reduced to ashes, the massive energy blast heading right towards Zane. Spotting an action card stuck in a crevice, he leapt for it, but was disappointed with what he got. But with no other options, he was forced to play it.

"I activate the action card, Double Edged Sword! Now we both take the damage from your attack!"

"What? But that would mean-"

"This duel ends in a draw!"

Without warning, half of the attack split off and headed for Kaiba, striking him and sending him flying while the rest of it did the same to Zane.

Zane: 0000

Kaiba: 0000

With a grunt, Zane pulled himself to his feet, injured but alive.

"Kaiser, sir! We've captured the traitors!"

"Let go of me, you freaks!"

Despite Serena and Barrett's efforts, the soldiers kept their grasp on them firm. With a frustrated sigh, Zane dusted himself off and got ready to go home..

" the retreat signal to the rest of them and move out."

"Sir, yes sir!"

"No!"

But Kaiba was too late to stop them, and in a flash they were gone. The other three came running up, and he immediately turned on them.

"You morons! I gave you one simple job and you blew it! How could you let them be captured?"

"Because she told us too. She has a plan."

"What?"
