A/N: Before I begin, I want to answer some questions that have been asked to me by guest reviewers:
To TV2000: I really don't have any interest in Rush Duels or Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS. Just doesn't appeal to me.
To Ramon Valdez: My favorite character from each Series is, in order: Joey Wheeler, Jaden Yuki, Leo, Shark, Gong Strong, and Soulburner. Again, I haven't watched SEVENS, so I don't have any answer for that. As for my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! Character of all time, I have to go with Jaden.
Chapter 42: The Tyler Sisters
It was early morning when their boat finally docked on the mainland. After quickly glancing around to make sure the coast was clear before motioning to his wards.
"Come on, we need to move."
Once everyone was out of the boat, he checked his duel disk.
"The signal blocker is out of range. Serena, set your duel disk to the Standard Dimension. Rin, hold on to me, Lulu hold onto Serena."
"Right!'
"You're not going anywhere!"
Before anyone could do anything, a duel anchor latched itself around Lulu's arm. From the rooftops leapt two blonde sisters. One wore a simple outfit, while the other wore a long dress.
"Except right back to Duel Academy where you belong."
"Ah, I don't know, Gloria! Maybe we should keep them as pets."
"Not a bad idea, Grace, but orders are orders. So put your cards where your mouth is, scum!"
Before Lulu could respond, Rin stepped forward, duel disk already activated.
"I don't know who you are, but we're not going back! We'll take you on together!"
"Fine, we'll make it a tag duel! First green hair will go, then myself, then the Xyz scum, then my sister!"
"Works for me!"
"Be careful, guys. They're two of The Professor's best mercenaries."
"We will, Serena."
DUEL!
Rin/Lulu: 4000
Gloria/Grace: 4000
"Remember, in a tag duel, you and your partner share a field and graveyard. I hope you won't have too many issues."
"Not at all! Since we don't control any monsters, I can special summon Windwitch- Ice bell (1000/1000) in attack mode! And since she was summoned, I can special summon another Windwitch from my deck, like another Ice Bell! And since they were summoned, you take 500 points of damage!
Gloria/Grace: 4000-3500-3000
"Next, since I control at least 2 wind monsters, I can special summon Windwitch- Snow Bell (100/100) in defense mode! Now my level 1 Snow Bell will tune with my level 3 Ice Bells to Synchro Summon! Come forth, Windwitch- Winter Bell (2400/2000)! Next, I'll activate her effect! You take damage equal to Ice Bell's level times 200!"
Gloria/Grace: 2400
Gloria and Grace just laughed off the chilling wind.
"Like, did winter come early or something?"
"Oh, I wouldn't say that. It was more of a light breeze."
Rin snarled, but continued her move.
"I'll set one card face down and end my turn."
"Is that all? I'll begin by activating the effects of Amazoness Spy in my hand! By revealing Amazoness Queen, I can special summon her to the field (800/1200)! Next, I'll tribute her to bring out Amazoness Queen (2400/1800)! Attack her witch!"
"Are you insane? They have the same amount of attack points, they'll both be destroyed!"
"Ordinarily you'd be correct, but Amazoness Queen grants her and her subjects immunity from being destroyed by battle!"
With a single swipe of the Queen's sword, Rin's Synchro Monster exploded, nearly knocking the two girls off their feet.
"I set one card face down and end my turn. Show me what you've got, scum!"
"Ask and you shall receive! First, since there are no monsters on my field, I can special summon Lyrilusc- Turquoise Warbler (100/100)! Since she was special summoned from the hand, I can special summon Lyrilusc- Cobalt Sparrow (0/0) from my hand! Since she was special summoned, I can add Lyrilusc- Sapphire Swallow from my deck to my hand. And since I have a Winged Beast monster on my field, I can special summon her (100/0), along with Lyrilusc- Celestine Wagtail (200/0)!"
"Ah, they're so cute! I, like, totally want one!"
"Grace, focus!"
"Aw, you're no fun, sis!"
"Now, with these four monsters I build the overlay network and Xyz summon! Come forth, Rank 1 Lyrilusc- Assembled Nightingale (0/0)!"
"You're kidding, right? That monster has no attack points!"
"That's where you're wrong! For every overlay unit she has, she gains 200 attack points (0-800)! What's more, she can attack directly and for every overlay unit attached to her, she can attack that many times! Assembled Nightingale, end this duel!"
"I don't think so! Go, Spirit Barrier!"
Lulu's Winged Beast tried to swoop in and strike the two sisters, only to smack into a forcefield like a bird hitting a windshield.
"As long as we have monsters on our field, we don't take any battle damage! Nice try, but it'll take a lot more than that to defeat us!"
Lulu grunted in frustration.
"I set one card face down, and end my turn. Sorry Rin, I thought I had them."
"Don't worry, we'll beat them eventually."
"Yeah, I wouldn't count on that, because I like, totally activate Polymerization! With it, I'll fuse the Amazoness Tiger and Amazoness Paladin in my hand to create Amazoness Pet Liger (2500/2400)! Turn her Nightingale into a fur coat, Liger! Oh, and when he attacks, he gains 500 attack points (2500-3000)!"
"My Nightingale also has an effect! By detaching one overlay unit, my Lyrilusc monsters can't be destroyed by battle this turn, and we don't take any damage (800-600)!"
"Well, my Liger isn't done playing with his food! 'Cause when after an Amazoness monster attacks, one of your monsters loses 800 attack points!'
"Not this time! Since Cobalt Sparrow was used as Xyz material, you can't target Nightingale with card effects."
"Aw, total bummer! I guess I'll just end my turn with one card face down.."
"I'll start with the trap card, Icy Breeze Refrain! This brings back my Winter Bell in defense mode! Next, I activate the spell card One For One! By discarding one card from my hand, I can bring back my Snow Bell! Now I'll tune the two together to summon a monster that will really put you on thin ice! I Synchro Summon Windwitch- Diamond Bell (2800/2400) in defense mode! And when she's Synchro Summoned, I can inflict damage to you equal to half the attack of Winter Bell in my graveyard!"
Gloria/Grace: 1200
"Brrr, I almost felt that one!"
"Not bad."
"Well, let's see how you feel after this! Since I inflicted damage to you, Diamond Bell lets me destroy one card on the field, so say goodbye to Spirit Barrier!"
An icy wind blew from the witch's chest, freezing the trap card over before it shattered.
"Now Assembled Nightingale, finish them off!"
"Nice try, but I totally saw that coming! Which is why I set my own Spirit Barrier!"
Rin just sighed.
"I'll end my turn by equipping Blizzard Bell with Mist Body."
"This has been fun, but now I'm bored! I activate Polymerization, fusing my Queen with the Amazoness Paladin in my hand to Fusion Summon! Appear, Amazoness Empress (2800/2400)! Next, I'll activate equip her with Megamorph (2800-5600)! Attack her Blizzard Bell, Pet Liger!"
"Mist Body will protect my monster!"
"But not your life points! Empress gives my Amazoness monsters the ability to deal piercing damage!"
Rin/Lulu: 3400
"Now Empress, attack her as well!"
The almighty ruler struck the ground with her sword, sending a wave of fire towards her opponents that knocked Lulu and Rin right off their feet.
Rin/Lulu: 200
"Come on guys, get up!"
"Stay out of this, traitor! Once they're done, you're next."
Slowly, the two girls rose to their feet, singed but alive.
"It'll take more than that to defeat us."
"Oh really? I'll end my turn with Mystical Space Typhoon so that my Empress isn't burdened with the downside of my equip spell. Just so you know, as long as my Empress is standing, you can't destroy any of my other Amazoness monsters by battle or with card effects."
"Yeah, and with Spirit Barrier on the field, you can't deal battle damage to us unless you can get rid of them. Face it, you're totally screwed!"
Lulu snarled, but drew her card. To her shock, it was…
Polymerization? They must have snuck it into my deck! Why would they give it to me when I don't have any Fusion monsters? Unless…
Just to be safe, she checked her Extra Deck, where there was indeed a new Fusion Monster.
I don't know why they gave me one, but it's just what I need to end this duel! And fortunately, I have all that I need for it right in my hand."
"I activate the spell card Polymerization!"
This shocked everyone else as the familiar fusion portal appeared behind her.
"I'll fuse my Assembled Nightingale with my Cobalt Sparrow! Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire, so meet my Lyrilusc– Independent Nightingale (1000/0)!"
"Nice try, but she's still too weak!"
"Not for long! Since I used a Lyrilusc Xyz monster as material, she gains 1 level for every overlay unit she had, and I count 3 (1-4)! And for every level she has, she gains 500 attack points (1000-3000)!"
"So what? You can't touch our life points, no matter how strong your monster is!"
"Not by battle, but your Spirit Barrier can't do anything against effect damage!"
"What?!"
"I activate Independent Nightingale's final effect! For every level she has, you take 500 points of damage!"
Lulu's fusion monster soared into the air before shooting feathers out from her wings which exploded when they made contact with the Tyler sisters, creating a huge cloud of smoke.
Gloria/Grace: 0000
When the dust had settled, the four escapees had disappeared, having used the distraction to jump dimensions.
"Aw! I wanted to play with them more!"
"Enough, Grace! We need to report this to The Professor!"
"Ugh, this is so not cool!"
Later, the two gave their report, kneeling before the throne.
"A thousand apologies, Professor. I humbly request permission to jump dimensions and follow them."
"I appreciate your commitment to my cause, Gloria, but I must deny your request. Our previous forlay into the Standard dimension was too costly, and we can't very well afford more. Besides, I need you here on standby. I assure you, your chance will come again, but for now the two of you are dismissed."
The two sisters bowed and left The Professor alone with his thoughts. Or at least, so they thought.
I thought you were capable of this task, Akaba. Perhaps I was mistaken.
"A minor setback, nothing more."
You consider losing three-fifths of the key to our success a minor setback?
"They'll be back, one way or another, along with the other key."
They had better, or it'll be you paying the price.
