Chapter 47: Tag Team Troubles Part 2

"With our Gate Guardian, your defeat is certain!"

"Prepare to face the final curtain!'

"What are you talking about? Gong's monster is stronger than your ugly beast!"

"Not once I activate Mystical Space Typhoon! This will get rid of your Soulshield Wall, and your Ninja's boost!"

Gong snarled as the wind storm swept away his equipped monster (4000-2800).

"Next, I'll equip Gate Guardians Combined with Fairy Meteor Crush! Attack his Ninja Sarutobi!"

The three-piece monster unleashed a combination attack which utterly destroyed Gong's robot. Gong/Yuya: 2400

"Gong, did you feel that?"

"I did. This is no ordinary duel."

"I'll end my turn there. Now do you fools see that you are doomed? As long as we are in this field, our monsters are real, and so are their attacks."

"And should you lose, you'll lose far more than the duel!"

"I don't know what you mean, but I'm not going to find out! First, I'll place Performapal Odd Eyes Light Unicorn in my other Pendulum Zone. Next, I'll Pendulum Summon Odd Eyes from my Extra deck, as well as Performapal Drummerilla and Performapal Bubblebowwow (2300/1000) from my hand in attack mode! Next, I'll fuse Odd Eyes with Bubblebowwow to summon Beast Eyes Pendulum Dragon! Now attack Gate Guardians Combined!"

"You're an even bigger fool than we thought! Our Guardian has more attack points!"

"Not for long, I activate Odd Eyes Unicorn's effect! Once per duel when one of my monsters battles, Unicorn can give them the attack points of one of my Performapals, like Drummerilla (3000-4600)! But that's not all, for Drummerilla will give him another 600 attack points 4600-5200)!"

"What?!"

"Say goodbye to your Gate Guardians!"

With the extra boost of power, Beast Eyes easily overwhelmed the trio's counter attack, wiping it out.

Para/Dox: 3600

"But wait, there's more! When Beast Eyes destroys a monster in battle, you lose life points equal to the Beast used to summon it!"

Para/Dox: 1300

"Alright, Yuya!"

But when the smoke cleared, they found the very same monster that Yuya had destroyed still standing!

"What gives! I just destroyed that thing!"

"No, you destroyed Gate Guardians Combined! And since you did, I was allowed to summon a level 11 or lower Gate Guardian, and who better than the original (3750/3400)?"

Yuya sighed, but could do nothing more.

"I end my turn."

"And thus begins mine! First, I activate Spellbook Inside the Pot! This lets us all draw three cards, not that you'll get a chance to use them! Next, I activate the Spell Card Dark Element! Since we have a Gate Guardian monster in our graveyard, by paying half our life points we can call out Gate Guardian's older brother!"

Para/Dox: 650

"Come on out, Dark Guardian (3800/3800)!"

"Uh oh."

"Gate Guardian, attack his Beast Eyes!"

"Drummerilla, give him a hand (3000-3600)!"

Unfortunately, even with the added attack Beast Eyes still wasn't strong enough, and easily fell to the barrage, Yuya and Gong doing their best to defend themselves.

Gong/Yuya: 2250

"Now Dark Guardian, destroy his overgrown monkey!"

The stronger Guardian swung his ax, sending out a wave of dark energy which cut Drummerilla in half and sent Yuya to his knees.

Gong/Yuya: 50

"I end my turn. Now do you see that you are outmatched?"

But Gong stood strong, drawing his card stoically as ever.

"What's the matter, ran out of luck?"

"Too bad, we don't give a fuck!"

"Actually, I'm about to win this duel!"

Para and Dox laughed at this.

"You fool! How do you plan to beat us when we have two monsters you can't hope to beat!"

"Indeed, to do so would be quite the feat!"

"Then prepare to be amazed! First, since you have two monsters and we have none, I'm allowed to summon Superheavy Samurai Scales (800/1800)! And when he's summoned, I can bring back a level 4 or lower Superheavy Samurai from my graveyard, like Soulshield Wall! And last but not least, I'll summon another Trumpeter. Now, my level 2 Trumpeter tunes with my level 4 Scales and level 3 Soulshield Wall to Synchro Summon! Come on out, Superheavy Samurai Beast Kyubi!"

"You fool! Your monster is far too weak to even hope to best us!"

"Ordinarily, that would be the case. But when I don't have any spell or trap cards in the graveyard, he gains 900 defense points for every special summoned monster on your field (2500-4300)! And by the way, he can attack in defense mode."

"What? But that means-"

"You lose! Beast Kyubi, attack Dark Guardian and end this duel!"

The mechanical centaur charged, using the jets from his back to propel himself while swinging his staff, cleaving right through the Guardian as he passed it. Dark Guardian remained standing for a minute before falling over and exploding.

"Yes, we did it!"

Before Yuya could say anything else, Gong grabbed him and brought him into a big bear hug.

"Yuya, I couldn't have done it without you! I couldn't imagine a better tag partner!"

"Glad I…could help…"

Just then, they noticed Para and Dox being enveloped in a strange energy.

"Um, what's wrong with them?"

Para and Dox, upon noticing this, began to panic.

"No, please, don't do this, Master Dartz!"

"Give us another chance!"

But their pleas fell on deaf ears, their bodies disintegrating into thin air, much to their opponents' horror.

"Did they just…die?'

"I take it that's what they were referring to."

"This is bad. We need to find the others, get the cube, and get out of here!"

"Right!"
