Later that afternoon, Chuckie stopped by to bring homework for Tommy like he promised that he would.

Tommy enjoyed seeing his best friend again since the last time they saw each other.

"Tommy, my dad says he hopes you feel better soon."

"Thanks, Chuckie. Tell him I will try," Tommy said.

"I will. Maybe I'll come by this weekend and we can hang out with you and Dil."

"This is why I miss going to school, Chuckie. I'm sure you would feel the same way too if this happened to you instead of me," Tommy told his best friend.

"I know I will. Glad we were able to help you in that creepy neighborhood you were in. I've never been to that neighborhood. Did anyone see you?"

"Nothing that I noticed. I've never been to that neighborhood either. I didn't see any cars in the driveway in either house, so it was hard to reach out to someone so I could call Mom and Dad. Don't worry about coming here tomorrow again, Chuckie. Dil is going to take the homework with him. You can get my homework in the classes we have together."

"Sounds good, Tommy. I'll do that for you."

"I'd love to see the entire gang this weekend."

"I'll ask them," chuckie said, and then added, "we all miss you."

"I believe that, Chuckie. I appreciate my best friend helping me out during this accident."

"Accidents happen, Tommy. You know that. Maybe when you're better we all could go out for some ice cream."

"I hope I will get over this broken leg sooner or later. I need stuff to do than just lying on the couch."

"I understand, Tommy. Maybe we can ask Angelica to join us."

"Are you kidding, Chuckie? She's never been nice to us anyway. You can try, but she might end up saying no way," Tommy said, knowing his older cousin.

Angelica had always been bossy, and Tommy and his friends were used to it since that's the way Angelica has been.

No, Angelica hadn't heard about Tommy and his broken leg yet, but she wouldn't be surprised when she does either. She wouldn't be surprised once getting this news.

"Maybe we can do something together when you're back to normal. What do you think of that?"

"I like the idea, Chuckie. Still wish I could go to school."

"Did the doctor say when you can go back?"

"No. I have to spend some more time here on the couch. Right now I'm not allowed to be upstairs in my room."

Chuckie could only nod his head and didn't bother saying anything.

He and Tommy had always been best friends, and now they're older, they still are. Nothing can change that.

Neither Chuckie or Tommy cared what time it was, so they were only enjoying each other's company, and that's what Chuckie was there for.

Maybe tomorrow Angelica will hear the news about Tommy and his broken leg when they're at school.

Chuckie couldn't help feeling bad for Tommy, but all he could do for now was just help Tommy get better like his family and the doctor are.

"Do you need anything, Tommy?" Chuckie asked.

"I'm okay for now. All I can think about is getting off this couch."

"Do you know when you'll get to hang out upstairs again?"

"No. I'm still waiting to hear that. I hope I'm not going to school with crutches."

"Let's hope not, Tommy. We can always help you too, and you know it."

"Of course I know it. We stick together, no matter what," Tommy replied.

"Yes, we do. I should start thinking about getting ready to go home. I'll be back tomorrow."

"All right, Chuckie. I'm sure Angelica will see me sooner rather than later."

"She might even be here tomorrow after what we tell her what happened. Susie probably isn't going to be around to hear this news. Kimi already knows since I mentioned it to her when my dad dropped you off here when it happened."

"What did Kimi say?"

"She feels bad for you like everybody else. We'll keep stopping by and see how you're doing. Dil gets to see you ever day since he lives here."

"That's true, Chuckie. He can always tell you at school about me."

"Updates are always good, Tommy. Thank you for letting me stay for a while."

"You're always welcome here, Chuckie. You know that."

There wasn't anything that Chuckie could think of to say, so it was a good time to leave Tommy's house and head home to do some homework.

"See you again soon, Tommy. Hope you get better faster."

"Me too, Chuckie. Sorry I can't walk you to the door."

"That's okay. You don't have to do that. See you tomorrow."

"Bye, Chuckie. I appreciate you coming over."

Tommy meant what he said when Chuckie left the house.

When Chuckie returned to the house, he found Chaz in the kitchen.

"Hi, Dad. I'm back."

"Hi, Chuckie. How's Tommy doing?" Chaz asked.

"He's okay, but is tired of being on the couch. He wants to go back to school."

"I'm sure he does, Chuckie."

"Did you ever get a broken leg before, Dad?"

"No. Just a broken arm and that was about it."

"Which arm?"

"This left one. I was your age when it broke."

"I'm sure Grandma and Grandpa were scared."

"Yes, they were. They would have been surprised on how much you've grown if they were still living today."

"You think so?"

"Yes, Chuckie. We'll be going out to dinner tonight. How does that sound?"

"What about Kimi?"

"She's more interested in studying for a test that's coming up, but wants to do that another time."

Kimi liked school, but Chuckie doesn't mind it.

"How it Tommy?" Kimi asked.

She didn't get the entire story from Chuckie, but it was mostly about hearing the story Chaz Chaz had shared last night, and that was okay with her. She didn't need to hear the entire story, the one that Tommy had.

She and Chuckie went upstairs to her room.

Once they were there, Kimi closed the door behind them.

"Since you saw Tommy, how is he doing?"

"Already bored and wants to be in school with us."

"I understand. Hope he gets better sooner rather than later," Kimi said.

"I told Tommy that. We're going to see him this weekend."

"That's great. He already knows we miss him."

"Of course. I don't know how Tommy would have made it home if Dad and I didn't see him."

"Me neither. He would probably walk home without getting a ride."

"Probably. We were surprised he was in a neighborhood that he wasn't familiar with," Chuckie said.

"I feel bad that I couldn't be there when you picked up Tommy," Kimi said.

"Don't feel bad. You didn't miss anything when we found him."

"Nobody was with him?"

"He was alone."

"Then I feel bad that way. How does he look now since you saw him?"

"A little bit better, but does want to sleep in his bed upstairs instead of the couch."

"I can't blame him. I hope he can go back to school when the time is right."

"Of course he will, Kimi. I felt bad for him too when we picked him up and dropped him off at home."

"If that were me in the neighborhood you saw Tommy, I would have somebody to help give me a ride home."

"I don't think that sounded like a good idea, Kimi. You should know by now not to take rides from strangers," Chuckie reminded her.

"Thanks for the reminder."

"You're welcome."
