i! So here is another story from me for this wonderful fandom. I wanted to get this out before the start of the New Year but I was burning the candles at both ends so to speak finishing up all my other stories so I decided the best thing to do was to take a little break and recharge and get into a good place to start this one.

So on a few notes: I have always wanted to write a story with all four sisters. Shannon did such a wonderful job as Prue and Rose did such a wonderful job as Paige it is a shame that for whatever reason we did not get to see a scene shared with them (that one with the back of Prue does not count). So this is my little remedy for that.

This is a happy ending for all of the sisters, it runs this story approximately from prequal days to the end of Season 3. I do intend to redeem Cole and probably Zankou who was arguably the best villain of the series-only just beating Gideon who was outstandingly bad. I wrote Paige and Zankou on a whim in my last story and I enjoyed it and I got a lot of good feedback from it so we are going down this road again. And also Prue/Andy were the love story that for me kicked off a love of Charmed so...he too gets to live.

Some episodes will be skipped over and if you are looking for a cannon compliment, word perfect, dialogue perfect, punctuation perfect story then let me tell you that is not me. I also do a lot of swearing in my stories so if you don't like that then turn away now at this first chapter.

Also again let me be plain I DESPISE the Elders. I hate them, I hate the hypocrisy, I hate the way they treated Leo after Gideon, I hate the way they were with the Avatars, I hate the fact that they expected the sisters to be on supernatural speed dial and I hated that they constantly butted in. Believe me in Season 5 I was actively cheering for the Titans. To me the Elders made themselves Titans. So if your looking for a story where they get a good rap then walk away now please.

Disclaimer-Nothing here is mine.

Please Read and Review.

I do not do private messages anymore. If you have a question then please stick it in a review and I will try to answer it in the next chapter notes.

I will try to update as soon as work allows me. Spelling and Grammar have never been my friends please keep that in mind too.

This story will be 28 Chapters long.

And now we are into the main story...kind of.

Let There Be Light

Chapter 5-Youth And Maidens On An Evening Walk

In which Penny dies. And the Charmed Ones, the Halliwell sisters are all blown apart to their four respective corners of the world.

The funeral was nice Paige supposed. She didn't have much of a say in it. Prue on the other hand had organized everything with a ruthless streak. Paige was not even sure if Grams would have liked it. Grams she was sure was not a church person.

Zankou had not been there either. He had laughed when she had asked him and then told her that demons and churches didn't go well for a reason.

"I wish Grams would have gotten to know you" Paige had said quietly and her boyfriend had nearly choked on his water.

"Yes" he said with that dry smile as if he had found something very funny that she did not, would not and could not understand. "Yes I would think that she would have loved me…what would have given me away do you think the lightening or the dark magic?"

Paige had rolled her eyes.

He had not gone. Prue had curled her lip at the fact that he had not gone but Paige had ignored her. Being a bitch had been Prue's way of dealing things, her default was anger weather it be how things had ended with Andy, what Rodger had told her about Phoebe as Grams had lay dying (which Paige thought was both categorically false and a really shit move) and so she had let Prue plan the funeral. Piper had been to upset to do it anyway and Phoebe spent all her time out the house. To be honest if it wasn't for the fact that her demon boyfriend did not want to come near her house Paige would have gone to but she found she liked the solitude. As the baby of the four of them she was often the one that was called on and now she was finding privacy to be a painful and beautiful thing.

But they buried her eventually. Grams. Penny. Penelope. Their mother and their father all rolled into one. The woman whose spirit had been indomitable to the point where she had made even dying look impossible. There had been something about her grandmother that had made her seem invincible.

And right now it was all falling apart.

Case in point when they came back to the house after the funeral. Paige had poured herself a vodka and sat down on the couch still in her clothes her face wet. She was nineteen and her family had fallen apart. Her grandmother was dead, her boyfriend was a magical demon, and the house that they had been raised in was falling apart. She would turn twenty in a month and she had no idea what would happen next.

Piper came down the stairs her own face wet. Piper had sobbed her heart out today. Phoebe had kept it together until the burial where she had ducked her head down and sobbed clinging to Paige whose face had been slow and steady and wet with tears and Prue…Prue had been silent, stoic, the big sister at the end but she'd had a dazed look on her face as if she had not been able to fully comprehend what was happening. If it wasn't for the fact that she knew that Rodger didn't have the brains or the balls to do it then Paige would have been sure that he had put something in Prue's coffee this morning.

"Should you be drinking?"

Paige took a sip and the ice clattered in the glass in her shaking hand.

"I don't care" she said finally. "I am one year out, besides…nothing the three of us haven't done before"

Prue came into the room next.

"Where's the boyfriend? Noticed he didn't come today"

"He's a demon" she said without thinking just as Phoebe changed out of her clothes came down.

"Whose a demon?"

"Zan"

"Oh…well why are you with him then if he's a nasty piece of work?"

Paige rolled her eyes. Maybe one day she would be able to understand how her sisters collectively could be so smart and yet so stupid but considering that she too was struggling suddenly to get her brain to work she didn't think that it mattered.

"Because I can" she said finally. "Besides…Zan could be the master of evil himself and it wouldn't be one inch of the smarmy prick Prue's with"

"Oh can it young lady—"

"Careful" Phoebe said her tone combative in the way that it was now always when Prue was involved. Prue taking Rodger's side on the whole kiss thing had been the end of any good will in that relationship and there had not been much there to begin with.

"Not even the ground levelled and already you are beginning to sound like her"

Prue stared at Phoebe and Paige though never before had the terms looks could kill been more appropriate than it had ever been right now.

"What do you say to dinner?" Piper ever the peacemaker said and Paige took another sip of her drink. She was not sure she had grieved the loss of her Grams yet. Prue had been a stickler that they had to get up and keep going and get through to the funeral. She didn't think that she's thought about what happened after the funeral and if truth be told neither had Paige.

And she was still sitting on this secret. She was inherently good she knew that, she was a good person, she was not going to be tempted by darkness but how long could Zankou believe in that? Was true love…if this was what it was strong enough? She wanted to ask her grandmother but Paige had a sudden image of what her grandmother always instantly distrustful of men would have done if Zankou had popped as if by magic into their kitchen one Sunday morning.

"What are we doing?" she said turning to look at the three sisters standing behind her. "Seriously what is the point? She was the glue keeping us together. Let's not pretend that we are best friends…we stopped being that a long time ago"

There was a pause as her words hit each and every one of them.

She paused as Prue nodded running a hand through her short hair.

"Well…I have plans with Rodger"

"And I have plans with Zan"

"No you don't"

"Yes Prudence I do. Don't play Mom…don't play Grams…don't play anything for me. Zan gets me more than any of you do"

There was a pause where her big sister looked at her in the eye and then she twisted her jaw away. It had been a low blow and Paige knew it but at this point she was too far gone to be do or say anything else.

Phoebe gave a sigh.

"I'm going"

"Great" Piper said bitterly. "See you at four AM when you stumble in drunk"

"I don't plan to come home" Phoebe said quietly. "I'm gonna go and see what New York has to make of me"

It was then that Paige noticed the bag at her feet.

She turned as Phoebe walked out the door and Prue followed and Piper stormed back upstairs sobbing and she reached out and took the edge of the photo frame. Grams had insisted on one last one of the four of them three days before she had collapsed. She had stood there next to Phoebe…they had not been standing close.

She put the frame back down on it's face and grabbed her bag and left the house.

She walked down the road wiping her eyes.

She blinked and then suddenly blinked again.

She had not realised so lost in her own thoughts what had been happening in front of her.

She looked around.

Had she moved?

"You okay?"

There was a man standing there and she jumped looking at him. He was blonde with frosted tips and a kind smile.

"Fine."

"Okay…"

She turned to walk away and then he reached out and grabbed her.

"Don't go and be with him Paige. Stay on the right path. Please…he will drag you down and—"

Paige didn't hear anything else and she didn't see anything else. One minute she was there in front of him struggling against an iron grip and the next she was gone and she was falling backwards hitting the ground and screaming a full forced yell building up inside of her.

"You alright?" came a voice and she turned scrambling upwards into Zankou's arms and suddenly she was crying uncontrollably, crying for herself, for her grandmother, for the fact that she was sure that there was nowhere to go but him.

"What happened?" he asked looking back.

She told him and he raised one eyebrow.

"Aha. Figures they'd come"

"Who?"

"Nobody" he said shaking his head. "You—"

"I don't want to be evil?"

"Who says you have to be evil?"

"To be with you?"

Zankou scoffed. "Please" he said shaking his head. "Things are really that black and white for those—anyway—I don't want you to be evil. To be honest you being who you are, being as good as you are and me knowing what you will turn into makes it more exciting. I do think tat when things…develop things might change somewhat but you love me and I love you and that's the end of it"

He pulled a face then and she giggled.

"So I can be good?"

"Yes"

"And we don't…I mean it's not that black and white?"

"Darling girl charting a middle course is half the fun"

She didn't understand then what he was telling her, didn't understand then that he was telling her that he knew what was going to happen six months from now. That he knew about the Book hidden in the trunk upstairs ready and waiting for someone to to open it again.

For Zankou this was fun. She didn't know it Paige, she didn't know it at all but to date a Charmed One and not kill her, not turn her against the very grain of her exsistance but to love her and find some middle way, defying demons and whitelighters alike was kind of a fun experiment for him. He had been drained of apathy for so long that to feel something was new for him.

Whitelighters.

They always were more flash than brain.

Leo Wyatt landed behind the bins of an old club and winced.

Well…that had not gone well.

He had not expected it to but Orion had insisted on flash where Paige could not see his face rather than Leo's approach he wanted it so that she was frightened into ending her relationship which to him was just stupid. Personally he thought he was lucky not to have been maced.

And that was before Paige's natural powers had come out and she'd orbed herself away.

At least she had not realised. Though Leo would be most intrigued to see what Zankou would have made at that.

He was still learning a little when it came to the Charmed Ones and he was more than a little raw by the fact that Orion had not allowed him to go to the funeral. He had known Penny Halliwell since the sixties it was not right for him to not go and pay his respects to the one woman who had put the fear of…well…God into an Elder that was universally despised as a kill joy.

He sighed leaning against the wall. Personally from what he had seen the four Halliwell sisters were a force to be reckoned with and they would do things in their own time at their own pace or not at all. It was just the way of the world and there was no other way around it.

After all was there not something to be said that there had been four sisters were there was supposed to be three?

He sighed running a hand through his hair and decided he was going to be radical and have a night off. He found that he needed a good beer and maybe some curly fries. Leo was a boy of the 1930s and a man of the 40s but even he had to concede that curly fries were one of the best inventions on the culinary scene that he had seen in a long time.

Orion would just have to learn that he was in the minority with this.

And Leo thought as he began to walk down the old street. He was a bit of a soft romantic at heart. If Penny Halliwell's great love could be a mortal, if her daughter's great love could be a whitelighter…then who was to say that her granddaughters great love could not be a demon?

Leo would like to have thought that stranger things had happened but then…

Well…there was always tomorrow he supposed.

And there we go...into the main story now.

Next Chapter-Something Wicca This Way Comes-In which the four Halliwell sisters are reunited at the house. A book is found and an incantation cast. Life is never the same for anyone again.
