Stow-on-Side Gym Battles (Part Four)
After being explained the rules of the Gym Test by an official upon entering the test area, Clyde walks to the first platform and climbs onto the big teacup. Back in Royal Woods, Clyde's dads were watching him on TV in the Louds living room, holding each others hands.
"I wish they let Clyde wear a helmet on those things." said Howard McBride.
"They should have safety harnesses on those cups." said Harold McBride.
"I wish those platforms aren't so high up off the ground." said Howard McBride.
"I hope there's something soft for our little Clyde to land on in the bottom in case he falls off one of those platforms." said Harold McBride.
"There should be safety rails on those platforms." said Howard McBride.
"Will you two stop worrying; I'm sure Clyde will do just fine like the others did." said Lynn Jr.
"Well, excuse us for worrying about our little boy." said Harold McBride.
Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Clyde rides the teacup down the platform until he reaches the bottom of it. Howard and Harold let out sighs of relief upon seeing Clyde getting safely off the teacup. They suddenly got worried when they saw Clyde climb onto the next teacup.
The next platform was a little more difficult due to the large green hands knocking him around. Upon seeing it, Harold passes out, but Howard catches him before he hits the floor. Clyde was able to make it to the bottom of the platform. Clyde steps out of the teacup and walks to the teacup of the final platform.
After climbing into the teacup, he starts going down the platform. It proved to be a little more difficult for him, but he was able to make it to the end of the platform. Harold was starting to wake up.
"He made it, Harold." said Howard. Harold lets out a sigh of relief upon hearing it. Back at the test area, Clyde walks up the stairs; upon reaching the top, smoke plumes shoot up, indicating he passed the Gym Test.
"He did it!" cheered Harold. Lincoln, his sisters, Ronnie Anne, and Sam cheer from the lobby.
"Come on; let's go watch Clyde's battle." said Lincoln. Soon, Clyde and Allister were in the center of the battle arena, while an official walks to the center of it.
"This gym battle is between the gym leader, Allister, and the Gym Challenger, Clyde McBride. Both trainers will use four Pokemon. The first trainer to defeat all their opponent's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the battle begin." said the official. Clyde and Allister walk to opposite ends of the arena and they each take out a pokeball.
"Yamask, go." said Allister, throwing Yamask's pokeball and releasing it.
"Allister starts things off with his Yamask." said the announcer.
"Liepard, go!" said Clyde, throwing Liepard's pokeball and releasing her.
"And Clyde brings out a Liepard." said the announcer.
"Oh, that Liepard looks so precious." said Harold, holding his hands together. Back at Stow-on-Side stadium.
"Liepard, Hone Claws!" said Clyde. Liepard's claws glowed red, and she became surrounded by an orange aura.
"Yamask, Slam." said Allister. Yamask grabs Liepard and slams her onto the arena floor, damaging her.
"Liepard, Assurance!" said Clyde. Liepard charges at Yamask and tackles it, dealing super effective damage to it. Liepard was suddenly surrounded by a pale gray aura from Yamask's Wandering Spirit ability.
"Disable." said Allister. Yamask's eyes glowed red and Liepard becomes surrounded by a red aura.
"Oh man; now Liepard can't use Assurance." said Lincoln.
"Liepard, use Growl!" said Clyde. Liepard lets out a growl, releasing soundwaves onto Yamask, weakening its attack strength.
"Use Slam." said Allister.
"Sucker Punch!" said Clyde. Yamask grabs Liepard and prepares to slam her onto the floor when she swings her paw at Yamask, hitting it, and dealing super effective damage to it before it slammed Liepard onto the floor.
"Use Hex." said Allister. Yamask forms a ball of black energy that had a red eye in the center of it; the eye releases rings of blue energy that hits Liepard, but not doing much damage to her. The red aura surrounding Liepard disappears.
"Disable wore off; so now Liepard can use Assurance." said Lincoln.
"Assurance!" said Clyde. Liepard charges at Yamask and rams it, dealing enough damage to knock it out.
"Yamask is unable to battle. Liepard wins the match." said the official.
"Clyde's Liepard has beaten Allister's Yamask; what will he do now?" asked the official. Back at Royal Woods.
"Liepard beat Allister's Yamask, Harold." said Howard, holding Harold's hands.
"But Allister still has three Pokemon left, Howard." replied Harold.
"We have to believe in our little Clyde, Hare-Bare." said Howard.
"I know, Howie." said Harold. They then returned their attention to the monitor where they see Allister returning Yamask to its pokeball.
"You rest now, Yamask." said Allister. He puts Yamask's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Mimikyu, go." He throws Mimikyu's pokeball and releases it.
"Allister's next Pokemon is his Mimikyu; can it beat Clyde's Liepard?" asked the announcer.
"Liepard, Assurance!" said Clyde. Liepard charges at Mimikyu and rams it, but due to its Disguise ability, it took only little damage and the head of its costume tips to the side.
"Wood Hammer." said Allister. Mimikyu's stick tail grows and it smashes it onto Liepard, knocking her out. Mimikyu received recoil damage from Wood Hammer.
"Liepard is unable to battle. Mimikyu wins the match." said the official.
"In one move, Allister's Mimikyu has beaten Clyde's Liepard." said the announcer. "Can Clyde turn things around?"
"Oh, poor Liepard." said Harold.
"That was painful to watch." said Howard.
"I hope Clyde's next Pokemon teaches that Mimikyu a lesson." said Harold. Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Clyde returns Liepard to her pokeball.
"I'm proud of you, Liepard." said Clyde. He puts Liepard's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Venusaur!" He throws Venusaur's pokeball and releases him.
"Clyde has brought out a Venusaur." said the announcer.
"Mimikyu, Shadow Sneak." said Allister. Mimikyu's shadow stretches out towards Venusaur and it strikes him, damaging him.
"Venusaur, use Seed Bomb!" said Clyde. Venusaur unleashes glowing green seeds from the flower on his back and they hit Mimikyu, damaging it.
"Mimikyu, use Slash." said Allister. Mimikyu swings its stick tail at Venusaur and hits him, damaging him.
"Venusaur, Petal Blizzard!" said Clyde. Multiple pink petals surround Venusaur.
"Oh, those petals look so beautiful." said Harold. The petals form into a tornado, and it hits Mimikyu, knocking it out.
"Mimikyu is unable to battle. Venusaur wins the match." said the official.
"Clyde's Venusaur has beaten Allister's Mimikyu; can he make a comeback?" asked the announcer.
"Way to go, Clyde!" cheered Lincoln.
"You got this!" said Ronnie Anne.
"Just two Pokemon to go!" said Lana. Allister returns Mimikyu to its pokeball.
"You did all you could, Mimikyu." said Allister. He puts Mimikyu's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Go, Cursola." He throws Cursola's pokeball and releases it.
"And Allister's next Pokemon is his Cursola." said the announcer.
"Venusaur, Razor Leaf!" said Clyde. Vensaur releases green leaves from the flower on his back towards Cursola.
"Harden." said Allister. Cursola's body glowed white and its body shine before Razor Leaf hits it. "Now use Perish Song." Cursola sings loudly and releases black soundwaves onto Venusaur.
"Oh man; I've heard of this move." said Lincoln. "It knocks out both Pokemon, the one who uses it and the Pokemon it's used on in a while."
"Venusaur better finish this quickly." said Luna.
"Venusaur, Seed Bomb!" said Clyde. Vensaur fires glowing green seeds from his flower, and they hit Cursola, damaging it.
"Cursola, Tackle." said Allister. Cursola leaps at Venusaur and rams him, damaging him.
"Petal Blizzard!" said Clyde. Venusaur releases another tornado of pink flower petals from his body, and it hits Cursola, knocking it out. Venusaur suddenly freezes and collapses.
"Oh, it looks like Cursola's Perish Song has taken effect on Clyde's Vensaur, and now both Pokemon are out." said the announcer.
"Venusaur and Cursola are both unable to battle." said the offical.
"Man, that Perish Song is some move." said Luna.
"I hope Clyde can still beat Allister." said Leni.
"Don't worry; Clyde still has two Pokemon while Allister only has one left." said Lola. Lucy only sat there in silence, watching the battle. Clyde and Allister return their Pokemon to their pokeballs.
"You deserve a rest." Clyde and Allister say to their Pokemon in unison. They put their pokeballs away and they both pull out another one.
"Gengar, go." said Allister, throwing Gengar's pokeball and releasing it.
"And Allister's final Pokemon is his Gengar; what will Clyde bring out?" asked the announcer.
"Go, Incineroar!" said Clyde, throwing Incineroar's pokeball and releasing him.
"And Clyde brings out an Incineroar." said the announcer.
"Oh, that Incineroar looks so strong." said Howard.
"I'm sure he can take on that Gengar." said Lynn Jr.
"Oh, I do hope so." said Harold. Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Clyde and Allister return their Pokemon to their pokeballs and enlarges them with their Dynamax Bands. Clyde throws his, releasing his Incineroar, now Dynamaxed while Allister's eyes glowed purple and he throws his pokeball, releasing a now Gigantamaxed Gengar.
"It's a Dynamaxed Pokemon versus a Gigantamaxed Pokemon; which Pokemon will emerge victorious?" said the announcer.
"Incineroar, use Max Flare!" said Clyde. Incineroar fires a stream of fire at Gengar, hitting it, and dealing damage to it; bright sunlight filled the arena.
"Now Incineroar's fire attacks are stronger now." said Lincoln.
"Gengar, Max Ooze." said Allister. Gengar releases a stream of purple ooze from its body, and it hits Incineroar, dealing damage to it while raising its special attack strength.
"Incineroar, Max Flare!" said Clyde. Incineroar releases a more powerful stream of fire than the previous one due to the intense sunlight powering it up and it hits Gengar. Incineroar suddenly becomes surrounded by a circle of dark aura.
"You have activated my Gengar's Cursed Body ability." said Allister.
"Oh man; now Incineroar can't use Max Flare." said Ronnie Anne.
"Don't worry; Incineroar can still has other moves." said Lincoln.
"Gengar, Max Ooze." said Allister. Gengar releases another stream of purple ooze from its body, and it hits Incineroar, damaging him.
"Incineroar, Max Darkness!" said Clyde. Incineroar unleashes streams of black energy from his hands, and they hit Gengar, dealing super effective damage to him. Gengar shrinks down to its regular size, and it passes out.
"Gengar is unable to battle. Incineroar wins the match. The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Clyde McBride." said the official.
"And it's over! Clyde's Incineroar has beaten Allister's Gengar to earn Clyde the victory." said the announcer.
"We did it!" said Clyde. Incineroar returns to his regular form; Clyde runs to Incineroar and hugs him.
"Way to go, Clyde!" cheered Lincoln. Back at Royal Woods, Howard and Harold were holding hands with tears in their eyes while watching Clyde hugging Incineroar.
"Our little Clyde did it, Harold." said Howard.
"I knew he could do it." said Harold. They both began crying and tears were pouring out of their eyes. Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Allister returns Gengar to its pokeball.
"You did all you could, Gengar." said Allister. He puts Gengar's pokeball away and walks to Clyde. "You did well in our battle, Clyde."
"Thanks, Allister." said Clyde. Allister then holds a Ghost Badge towards Clyde.
"For your victory here, I present you with the Ghost Badge." said Allister.
"Thanks, Allister." said Clyde. He takes the Ghost Badge, along with pokedollars. Later, in the lobby, Clyde was on his Rotom Phone with his dads.
"Oh, Clyde, we are so proud of you." said Howard.
"You were amazing." said Harold.
"Thanks, Dads." replied Clyde. Soon, he ends the call; a gym official walks over to the group.
"Well, it's your turn now, young man." the official says to Lincoln.
"I guess it is." said Lincoln.
"Just enter the test area and we can get started." said the official.
"Give it your all, Lincoln." said Ronnie Anne.
"We'll be cheering for you." said Luna.
"Yeah!" said Lana.
"Thanks, everyone." said Lincoln. He follows the official through the test area's doors and enters it. After the official explains the Gym Test, Lincoln goes into the first platform's cup and rides it down to the bottom.
Once he gets out of the first cup, he goes into the second one and rides it down with a bit more difficulty than the first one because of the green hands launching him around; but he makes it to the bottom of the platform.
He then gets into the last platform's cup and rides it all the way to the bottom to complete his Gym Test.
"He did it!" said Leni from the bleachers.
"I knew he could do it." said Clyde.
"Now he just has to do is beat Allister." said Lola. Lucy sighs in response.
Meanwhile, back at the Loud house, everyone was cheering Lincoln on.
"He passed his Gym Test." said Lynn Sr.
"Was there ever any doubt?" asked Lori.
"Now he has to win his gym battle." said Lynn Jr.
Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Lincoln was walking out of the tunnel and onto the field with Allister doing the same thing from the opposite end. They meet at the center where an official was waiting for them.
"This gym battle is between the gym leader, Allister, and the Gym Challenger, Lincoln Loud. Both trainers will use four Pokemon. The first trainer to defeat all their opponent's Pokemon will be the winner. Let the battle begin." said the official. Lincoln and Allister walk to opposite ends of the arena and they each take out a pokeball.
"Yamask, come out!" said Allister as he tosses his pokeball, releasing his Yamask.
"And Allister starts out with his Yamask." said the announcer.
"Gyarados, come on out!" said Lincoln as he tosses his pokeball, releasing his Gyarados.
"And Lincoln brings out a Gyarados. Can it beat Allister's Pokemon?" asked the announcer.
"Gyarados, use Aqua Tail!" Gyarados swings her tail while it's coated in water down onto Yamask, hitting it, and doing super effective damage.
"Yamask, use Disable!" said Allister. Yamask's eyes glow red, making a similar-colored aura appear around Gyarados.
"And it looks like Yamask has taken away Gyarados' Aqua Tail. What will Lincoln do now?" asked the announcer.
"Gyarados, use Ice Fang!" said Lincoln. Gyarados' fangs become coated in ice as she bites down on Yamask, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Yamask is unable to battle. Gyarados is the winner." said the official.
"Yes! Great work, Gyarados!" said Lincoln, making Gyarados roar in triumph.
"And Lincoln's Gyarados has taken out Allister's Yamask. What will Allister do now?" asked the announcer.
"Way to go, buddy!" said Clyde.
"Keep it up, little dude!" said Luna.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was cheering for Lincoln.
"Lincoln's doing good so far." said Lynn Sr.
"But Allister has three other Pokemon." said Luan.
"Especially that Mimikyu and its Disguise ability thing." said Lori.
"Lincoln will beat it!" said Lynn Jr.
Back at Stow-on-Side Stadium, Allister returns his Yamask to its pokeball.
"Take a good rest, my friend." said Allister. He puts Yamask's pokeball back on his jacket and pulls off another one; he throws it, releasing his Mimikyu.
"And Allister brings out his Mimikyu. Can it handle Lincoln's mighty Gyarados?" asked the announcer.
"Gyarados, use Crunch!" said Lincoln. Gyarados moves towards the Mimikyu and bites down hard on it, making its costume break; its body suddenly sags a bit. "Looks like Mimikyu's Disguise ability can't protect against secondary effects of some moves; its defense is weaker."
"Mimikyu, use Wood Hammer!" said Allister. Mimikyu's branch tail grows bigger and becomes coated in a purple aura; it then swings it down onto Gyarados, hitting her, and hurting itself from the recoil damage.
"Gyarados, use Waterfall!" said Lincoln. Gyarados summons up a giant waterfall that rains down onto Mimikyu, damaging it.
"Mimikyu, use Wood Hammer again!" said Allister. Mimikyu hits Gyarados with his enlarged stick tail again, damaging her and itself more.
"Gyarados, use Bite!" said Lincoln. Gyarados bites down onto Mimikyu one more time and does enough damage to knock it out.
"Mimikyu is unable to battle. Gyarados is the winner." said the official.
"And Gyarados has just taken down another of Allister's Pokemon. Can it keep up the momentum?" asked the announcer.
"Two down, two to go!" said Lana.
"Gyarados is doing awesome!" said Ronnie Anne.
"Yeah, I hope she can keep fighting after those Wood Hammers." said Clyde.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was cheering Lincoln on.
"Lincoln's halfway there." said Lynn Sr.
"That Gyarados is quite strong." said Howard McBride.
"Can it handle another battle?" asked Lori.
"I hope so." said Luan.
Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Allister returns his MImikyu to its pokeball.
"You did your best, my friend." said Allister. Lincoln looks at his Gyarados and sees she was looking a bit sore.
"Do you want to stop for now, Gyarados?" Lincoln asked with concern. Gyarados shakes his head. "Okay, if that's what you want; but be careful."
What Lincoln and his group didn't know was that Marnie was in the crowd, looking at Lincoln with a smile and blush on her face.
"He cares so much about his Pokemon." said Marnie. "I hope he wins this gym battle."
Back at the battle, Allister puts Mimikyu's pokeball back on his jacket and pulls off another one; he throws it, releasing his Cursola.
"Gyarados, use Leer!" said Lincoln. Gyarados glares harshly at Cursola, making it nervous, and lowering its defense.
"Cursola, use Ancient Power!" said Allister. Cursola summons up some rocks with fossils in them and launches them at Gyarados, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Gyarados is unable to battle. Cursola is the winner." said the official.
"And Allister's Cursola has taken down Lincoln's Gyarados. Will it keep up the pressure and bring Allister victory?" asked the announcer.
"Gyarados... lost?" Clyde asked with disbelief.
"These gym leaders are getting stronger." said Lana.
"Linky can still win!" said Lola.
"Totes!" said Leni.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was continuing to watch Lincoln's gym battle.
"Poor Gyarados." said Rita.
"I can't believe she got beaten." said Lynn Jr.
"Lincoln won't give up!" said Lori.
"Louds never quit!" said Lynn Sr.
Back at Stow-on-Side Stadium, Lincoln was rubbing Gyarados' head as she looks at him with an apologetic look.
"It's okay, Gyarados; you did your best." said Lincoln. Marnie was watching Lincoln's compassion for his Pokemon with a look of awe on her face.
"He's so nice." said Marnie.
Lincoln returns Gyarados to her pokeball, puts it back on his waist, and pulls out another one; he throws it, releasing his Zoroark.
"And Lincoln brings out a Zoroark. Can it beat Allister's Cursola?" asked the announcer.
"Zoroark, use Knock Off!" said Lincoln. Zoroark runs at Cursola and swings his claws at it, doing super effective damage and more thanks to its weakened defense.
"Cursola, use Hex!" said Allister. Cursola summons up a ball of dark energy that had a red eye for a core and throws it at Zoroark, hitting him, but not doing a lot of damage.
"Zoroark, use Knock Off one more time!" said Lincoln. Zoroark hits Cursola again with his claws, doing enough super effective damage to knock it out.
"Cursola is unable to battle. Zoroark is the winner." said the official.
"And Lincoln's Zoroark has beaten Allister's Cursola. Now Allister is down to one Pokemon. Can he come back from behind and win this battle?" asked the announcer.
"Great work, Zoroark!" said Lincoln. Zoroark smirks at Lincoln and does a fist pump.
"Now Allister has one Pokemon left!" said Ronnie Anne.
"Lincoln will win!" said Clyde.
Back at the Loud house, everyone was continuing to cheer Lincoln on.
"He's almost got this!" said Lynn Jr.
"He can do it!" said Bobby.
"We just have to believe in him." said Lynn Sr.
Back at Stow-on-Side stadium, Allister was returning his Cursola to its pokeball.
"Rest up, you battled a lot today." said Allister. He puts Cursola's pokeball back onto his jacket and looks at Lincoln with glowing purple eyes, making him flinch a little.
'I'll bet that's one of the reasons Lucy likes him.' Lincoln thinks to himself. Allister takes out his last pokeball and throws it, releasing his Gengar.
"And Allister's last Pokemon is his Gengar. Can it beat Lincoln's Zoroark?" asked the announcer. Allister then returns his Gengar to its pokeball and uses his Dynamax Band to enlarge it; he then tosses it, releasing his now Gigantamaxed Gengar. Lincoln looks up at the giant Gengar with determination.
"You ready, Zoroark?" Lincoln asked his Pokemon, making him nod. "Use Night Slash!" Zoroark runs at the Gigantamaxed Gengar with his claws coated in dark energy and slashes it, doing a lot of super effective damage to it.
"That had to hurt!" said Ronnie Anne.
"I think Night Slash has a better chance of doing critical damage also." said Clyde.
"That would give Zoroark an edge here." said Sam.
"Gengar, use Max Ooze!" said Allister. Gengar summons up purple ooze that washes over Zoroark, damaging him, and increasing Gengar's special attack.
"Zoroark, hit it with one more Night Slash!" said Lincoln. Zoroark leaps at the Gigantamaxed Gengar and hits it with another slash, doing super effective damage, and causing the energy in it to explode; it returns to its normal size, unconscious.
"Gengar is unable to battle. Zoroark is the winner. The winner of this gym battle is the Gym Challenger, Lincoln Loud." said the official.
"Lincoln Loud has done it again! He beat Allister's Gigantamaxed Gengar with a normal-sized Zoroark and wins the match!" said the announcer.
"We did it, Zoroark!" cheered Lincoln. Zoroark raises his arms and lets out a yell in victory.
"Lincoln did it!" said Clyde.
"I knew Linky can do it." said Lola.
"Way to go, little bro!" said Luna. Back in Royal Woods, everyone cheered for Lincoln's victory.
"Lincoln won!" said Luan.
"That was literally amazing." said Lori.
"That's my boy!" said Lynn Sr.
"Go, Lincoln!" said Bobby. Back at Stow-on-Side Stadium, Allister returns Gengar to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Gengar." said Allister. He puts Gengar's pokeball away and walks over to Lincoln. "I must say, you are a skilled trainer."
"Thanks, Allister." said Lincoln. Allister reaches into his pocket and pulls out a Ghost Badge.
"As proof of your victory here, I reward you with the Ghost Badge." said Allister as he hands the badge, along with some pokedollars to Lincoln.
"Thanks, Allister." said Lincoln.
Later in the lobby, everyone was congratulating Lincoln on his victory.
"Good work, little bro." said Luna.
"That was awesome!" said Clyde.
"Now all of us have our Ghost Badges!" said Lana. As Lincoln stood there, he felt a hand on his shoulder, making him look behind him to see Marnie with a small smile on her face.
"Hi, Lincoln." said Marnie.
"Hi, Marnie." said Lincoln with a small blush on his face.
"Congratulations on winning your gym battle." said Marnie as she looks away with a blush, making Lincoln's sisters, Clyde, and Sam chuckle; as well as making Ronnie Anne frown.
"Thanks, Marnie." said Lincoln.
Lincoln's group have won their Ghost Badges. Where will their travels take them as their Galar adventure continues?
