Harry follows Mordo to the Rotunda of Gateways. "Potter, this will be your first mission. We are going to deal with a demon who is setting up sacrificial rituals. I don't want to see you goofing off or causing problems. I didn't even want to bring you but the Ancient One said otherwise."
Harry side eyed Mordo. He had gotten to know the dour man throughout his time at Kamar-Taj but they had never liked each other. If Harry still thought there was no hope for his home they might have had a more balanced relationship. As it was, the hope that he could save his friends and family brought the mischievous Marauder's Heir to the forefront.
"You know it almost sounds like you don't like me." Harry quipped, his inner smile much larger than the smirk on his face. He loved poking the taciturn man who he thought need to remove the stick from his ass.
Sighing in resignation Mordo set the portal to the London Sanctum. "Let's just do this mission." He stepped through with Harry following up behind him.
"Oh so we're in London. I haven't been here in months. Where are we going?" Harry asked as they headed towards the front doors.
"The demon calling him Dagoth is setting up a ritual site in Cornwall, we will need to make our way there since we don't have an-" Mordo was cut off as Harry grabbed his shoulder and they were pulled through a tight tube until they were standing on the beach.
"There we go. Cornwall, destination spot for anyone who loves ice cold water." Harry happily declared as he watched Mordo lean on his knees to catch his breath. They had appeared on on a small beach surrounded by cliff faces leading off into choppy waters, a chilling wind blowing across the waves.
"Ugh, what was that?" Mordo asked
"That my stone faced friend was apparition. Personal magical travel using wormholes, fascinating really. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how much you travel, you can only go to places you've been." Saying so caused Harry to look around at the beach that was once a launch point for the last of the British wizards to leave the UK after demons overran the entirety of the islands.
Mordo straightening up gave Harry an unimpressed glare, "Next time we'll use a portal if you've already been here." At that Harry scratched at his chin in chastisement.
"I had actually forgot that. The portals were still relatively new, I've been apparating for decades." He paused for a moment while zoning out, before coming back to the present, "Now where do we go from here?"
"Lands End. It's a small town at the west end of Cornwall." Mordo gave Harry an expectant look.
Harry nodded along, "Sure." He raised his hands to create a portal, but was stopped by Mordo.
"Where is your sling ring, don't tell me you forgot it?" Mordo shot him a glare fill with such disappointment Dumbledore would be proud.
Harry rolled his eyes, "I don't need a sling ring." Before raising his hands and creating an orange portal to another beach. Mordo kept his surprise short and proceeded him through. On the other side of the portal Harry could immediately feel the taint in the air. Not all demons smelled of brimstone, some smelled of rot, mold, or sometimes stagnation. The area around them was deserted, appearing in a rear parking lot towards the end of town.
Mordo watched as Harry went from almost lackadaisical to tense and battle ready the moment they crossed the portal. It only took him a moment longer to feel the taint in the air, chaos energy. "Seems like our quarry is nearby." It only to a single moment before a red blur shot into Mordo's back.
Harry whipped around his hands shooting forward as an Earthen spike shot up dislodging the red demon from the prone Mordo. Flipping with the hit the demon stood a few steps away from Harry and Mordo, "Mordo you good?"
A soft groan sounded as Mordo stood back up, "I am fine, we must drag him into the mirror dimension." He spun his hands around as Harry launched a littler of transfigured wolves at Dagoth dragging him into the portal.
Rushing to follow, Mordo and Harry both started fighting the demon with summoned weapons. "You think a couple weak magic users like you can stop Dagoth from sacrificing to his master's strength?" Dagoth the proceeded to smash through Mordo's summoned battle staff, lifting Mordo by the front of his robes.
Harry flung out his hand transfiguring the ground around Dagoth into liquid before hardening it again. Dagoth losing his balance was kicked in the face by Mordo before he used his Vaulting Boots of Valtorr to create more distance landing on a perpendicular wall. "Demon your kind don't belong here. We will be banishing back to the Chaos." He proceeded to start a chant but was interrupted when Dagoth broke free and threw the broken ground at them. Harry used his magic to block the flying debris. Harry started conjuring weapons and banishing them at the demon, distracting him as the wolves tore into the demons legs and tried to pin his arms. Harry continued to fire low level magic bolts and air cutters into Dagoth's face and arms. Dagoth capitalized a moment when the wolves blocked Harry's line of sight and grabbed one of the wolves and ripped it in half smashing the stone they turned back into the other wolves surrounding him destroying them all. Mordo used his position behind Dagoth to launch an Eldritch Whip around his neck. Pulling it taut Dagoth was pulled into the air where Mordo proceeded to wrap more whips around him suspending him from his elevated position.
Harry Capitalized on this and took a moment to build up energy before jumping up and slamming his foot with an ax kick into Dagoth's head releasing the built up energy as an electric blast. Dagoth proceeded to faint backwards as Mordo and Harry surrounded him.
"He was a lot stronger than the average demon." Harry said casually. Mordo gave him a strange look.
"What do you mean the average demon? Is It not your first mission?" Harry gave him a sheepish look in response.
"I can tell you about that later, we should probably banish or kill this one before we go clean up any ritual sites he might have created." Mordo gave him a considering look but nodded and proceeded to banish the demon before leaving the mirror dimension. Harry and Mordo split up to search for anything out of place before meeting back up. Harry started, "I found a few areas set up for a sacrifice that were luckily unused."
Mordo gave a taciturn nod and waved him to follow, "I found a few prisoners but no corpses. I think we got here fast enough to stop him from doing anything too drastic." Harry nodded and followed walking up to the unconscious prisoners, both of whom were young adults or late teens.
"Let me just modify their memories and we can drop them on the beach." Harry then proceeded to wave his hands over them before dropping them at the beach and creating a portal back to Kamar-Taj.

Harry was reading a book on elemental energies in Sanskrit, when he felt the gaze of someone from his doorway. Standing there in brown robes was the librarian, a stout Asian man in his 30's, "Can I help you with something Master Wong?"
Wong gave him a withering look, "Again, we don't allow books of that level to leave the library. If I find it damaged I'll ensure it comes out of your hide." He then turned on his heel and stalked away.
Harry couldn't help the smirk that formed on his face. When he first arrived Harry had heard many stories of the librarian and his ever stoic face. He loved his books more than he liked anyone. After going through the lower level books in the library he moved up to the Masters section of books. When he found out he couldn't take the books out of the library without Wong giving him a hard time he started using his natural invisibility and apparition to leave the library with the books he wanted. It became something of a game to Harry to see if Wong would notice before he put the book back.
Closing the book he decided that he needed to do his personal training for the day and popped away to a deserted area in the mountains. Wind whipped through the valley, barren crags petered off into a field of grass, dirt, and sparse trees. Harry took in the tranquil environment before slowly centering himself. This valley turned into an excellent place to train his new martial abilities and his casting. Without the need for a focus had allowed him to develop a fighting style that he's still working on. New sorcerer abilities and classic magic combined very well. A few of the different types of sorcery could be streamlined using his own magic. Nature or elemental magic typically required calling on the dimensions of elemental energy, wizards could use massive amount of energy to generate elemental magic. Combining the two allowed Harry to shortcut the process, his magic allowing a direct connection to the elemental planes and sorcery removing much of the personal cost.
He stepped forward and launched a series of fire moves at a set of stones using his hands, throwing flaming lances, fire balls that explode on impact, and flaming whips. Next he stomped down sending stone spires jutting up in a line, kicking said spires launch earthen spears at his targets. With no nearby water sources he conjured a stream of water that quickly froze to smash into his targets like knives. Next he sent out a series of swipes that launched wind blades that sliced the stone targets into pieces. Flicking out his hands he started transfiguring stones and logs into various creatures, wolves, lions, griffins, and hawks, commanding them into to attack teams having them run between spots in the valley. Eventually he dismissed the creatures.
Centering himself once again he stomped down creating an earthen wall that he immediately jumped through. The wall exploded around him as red bands of power circled his upper arms as stone cover his arms and legs like a set of gauntlets and greaves. He then moved though a set of Katas putting power into his punches, kicks, knees, and elbows. Air whistled around him from the pressure of his attacks. After moving through his different attacks adding elements to random moves, he jumped into a tackle only to transform into a massive dire wolf in mid-air. His form was a massive 12ft from tip to tail, standing at nearly 4ft at the shoulder, his coloring matching his hair almost jet black throughout with darker brown on the underside and muzzle and matching emerald green eyes. His feet hit the ground and his legs coiled down until he was sprinting through the valley, trees and stone blurring by at nearly 80 mph.
Running from one side of the valley to the other he transformed back and fell to the ground. "Man I love just running like that." He fell on his back. Above the sun was shining, around him tranquility returned to the valley, bugs making noises, birds chirping, and the leaves moving in the wind. He had missed this. Hearing nature, feeling the wind, tasting the air, basking in the life that pervades all areas of the world.
Sometimes, when he was the last of everyone, he would contemplate various ways of returning the life to his world, surrounded by creations of his own just to feel like he wasn't alone in the dead world that he used to call home.
He sighed and dropped his head back to the grass below him. His mind filled with desolate wastelands, corrupted city streets, miasma filled lakes and rivers. Slowly his mind drifted further and further from the sanctuary he had found and back into the hell-scape his old world had become. Until his mind fell into a troubled sleep.

Months passed as Harry continued to train and learn about this new world he was a part of. He went on more missions, banishing demons, spirits, and other dimensional entities. Mordo eventual came to respect his abilities even if he didn't care for his casual attitude. Wong actively liked him after he showed him how to use a rune set from his world to make temporary copies of any book. He continued to train apprentices and travel in his off time. Yao got to study his magic, which seemed to be an amalgamation of many different types of energies across many different dimensions, mainly quantum, chaos, and life energies. It allowed him to actually increase his already impressive reserves by absorbing those types of energy on a daily basis.
Harry was meditating in his valley when he felt the approach of that familiar light and airy stagnation. "Good day Yao. How may I help you?" Harry asked as he opened his eyes.
Yao stood there giving him a slight smile in her typical orange robes as she waved him over to a stone table nearby. "I have somethings to talk to you about and some news to share." She pulled a tea set out of nowhere and poured two cups.
Harry sat down and took a slow sip of his tea, "You make the best tea, did you know that?" A contented sigh leaves his lips as the once emancipated and broken man relaxed. The stress of years of war and starvation have finally been healed to a somewhat sustainable degree, his body now back to it's trained and healthy state.
Yao smiled in that slightly mischievous way, "Yes well I do hope you forgive me but I think it's about time for you to strike out on your own."
Harry gave her a incredulous look then sat up a little straighter, "It's starting isn't it? What you told me when I first got here."
Yao nodded her face back to a casual smile as she sipped her tea, "Yes, the first of the 'heroes' will be appearing soon and not long after the world will begin to change. Our order will soon be working very hard as more and more creatures not meant for this world cross over." She gave him a searching look before saying almost offhandedly, "My replacement will also be joining us in the next few years."
Harry nearly spit out his tea when he heard that, "Replacement? I didn't realize you wanted to retire."
"Many would say death is the ultimate retirement." Yao quipped back in a light tone.
"Now you and I both know that you can only die if you want to." Harry gave her an unimpressed look until it dawned on him that she wanted to die. "You want to die… Why?"
Yao gave a slight sigh at the sad look he had sent her way, "It isn't about want. Fate has decreed that my end will come soon. No matter how many times I've viewed the future I never make it past this point." A silence hung between them for a few moments, "Either way that isn't coming up for many years. I mainly came to you because I know that you're going to get involved in a lot over the next few years. There are points of immutable change, required actions with required consequences. Before you leave we need to go over these things, but for now lets enjoy the day, it's quite beautiful."
The rest of the day passed in tranquility as Harry and Yao chatted about anything and everything, both reminiscing about past adventures or lost friends. Harry described all sorts of magical creatures and magical areas, while Yao spoke of dimensional beings, both benevolent and vile. Slowly the day ended and Harry decided that after a few weeks to prepare he would, as Yao said, 'strike out on his own'. He knew just where his skills and knowledge would be most useful.
