"Riiiiin, w-wait! S-Slow down!"
"Haha, hurry up! Slowpoke!"
Len grit his teeth, forcing his short legs to go faster as his twin seemed to tear though the narrow, leaf littered path at supernatural speed.
'W-Wow, I guess being four minutes older does make her faster than me!'
Her short, blonde hair flows behind her, luminated by the sunlight as some strands glow a darker, brilliant gold, making her look like some sort of mischievous angel.
Len's blood pumps loudly his veins as shallow breathes left his lips, that tremble like rose petals on a gentle breeze. His short legs tremble weakly as he pushes himself forward, wishing Rin would give him a tiny break!
"Not much farther!" Rin calls back and a small smile ripples over his lips as he detects a genuine hint of concern in his mirror image's tone. At her encouragement, the ten year old speeds up ever so slightly.
A comfortable silence fills the forest, seeming to hang in the air between them as twigs and curled, dried leaves crunched solfly under their feet.
Len feels crisp, bitingly cold air hit his face as Rin lets out a happy squeak beside him.
"Look!" She says triumphantly as he finally catches up, his small, pale hands on his knees, panting slightly.
"Isn't it beautiful, Len!"
He looks at her as a light breeze picks up, ruffling her short blonde hair and tugging it outward, doing the same to her white, knee length, skirt.
He swallows thickly as a faint blush dusts his cheeks, bringing a pleasant warmth. He's well aware his feelings toward Rin have morphed into something more… romantic lately. Slowly he's starting to think this whole 'falling in love' thing isn't so bad.
"Y-Yea, i-it is." He admits in awe, unable to tear his gaze from girl beside him as his heart picks up speed in his chest. He blinks, turning quickly and facing ahead. The cool wind on his face and in his nose calms him somewhat.
Both stares out at the peaceful, beautiful wintery landscape in front of them, in awe as snow falls gently around them. The cold, frigid air gently ghosts over their pale skin, bringing a slight chill without fully touching them.
Len felt something small and warm envelop his hand and blinked in surprise, glancing down. Rin's small hand is wrapped around his, palms pressed together and fingers intertwined. They fit perfectly in the spaces in between his, almost as if…
'It belongs there.' His blush grew darker, hoping Rin wouldn't hear his pounding heartbeat. A faint dusting of pink, barely noticeable, coated her smooth, pale cheeks as her head tilted away, bangs swaying slightly.
Silence stretched between them…. seeming to go on forever.
"Let's explore!" Rin declared suddenly, loud and cheerful voice snapping Len from his thoughts. Snow crunched softly under her feet, footsteps clear and unmistakable in the snow as she dashed off.
Len stifled a sigh as he followed quickly after Rin, missing the familiar warmth of her hand in his.
The twins ran quickly over the snow, cool, refreshing breeze combing its icy fingers gently through their hair. They watched in awe, large midnight blue eyes wide, as small, fluffy snowflakes drifted softly from the pale blue sky.
Strands of short, golden yellow hair teasingly brushed their cheeks, as did the snowflakes above before joining the countless others at their feet.
"Hey, look!" The girl said, large midnight blue eyes brightened with excitement. The boy followed her sparking gaze and the direction of her short, pale finger to see two child sized, lovingly crafted crowns made from dark gray, frost covered twigs. The crowns sat atop small, sparking dark capes with silvery clasps in the front.
The capes looked soft and fluffy, made from a rich, dark blue that matched the twins sapphire eyes. They raced over, hasty putting on the attire as Rin giggled.
"I declare us King and Queen of the Winter Relam!" She stated gleefully, swiftly placing the crown of shimmering dark gray on Len's head with a cheerful smile, her own already on. Len tried to ignore the way his heart beat faster in his chest.
Suddenly, a fierce blush rose to his face as he realized something.
"D-Does that m-mean we're m-married n-n-now?" The nervous boy stuttered. Rin paused, staring at him with wide eyes.
"Well no," She decided eventually, sounding unsure, "b-but…."Prince" and "Princess" would just sound lame, wouldn't it?"
The girl laughed softly, although Len could tell it was somewhat forced as she rubbed the back of her neck sheepishly.
Len agreed, joining his sister in nervous laugher that eventually faded out as if carried by the cold, refreshing winter breeze. Both glanced at eachother shyly as Len silently admitted being married to Rin wouldn't be the worse thing in the world.
He couldn't help but wondered if his twin felt the same as a blush stained his cheeks, although lighter than before. A soft breeze ruffled their hair and their eyes widened as a soft pressure settled on the back of their shoulders. Rin's skirt billowed outward and a light blush stained her cheeks as the twins stared at each other in bewilderment. They shivered slightly, with an unmistakable eerie feeling that the gentle breeze was pulling them toward each other.
