"System boot up" Archie said as he sat up in his dorm room bed, sighing as he looked at his legs. He couldn't remember a time when he could use them; making do with his arms and mind as his motorized chair came to his bedside. He was smile he slid into it and cracked his shoulder "Okay system, what's for breakfast?" he asked switching it to hover mode so he could get down the stairs of the dorm as a holographic display showed the breakfast menu "Ooh nice"
"What is" Micah, his best friend and lab partner asked
"We get sausages" Archie said as he switched to wheel mod
"Seriously, I hope they're the nice big fat pork ones" Micah smiled
"Anything's better than those skinny ones, tasted more like fat and nothing else" Archie said as he press a button on his chair's command console making something attach to his legs.
"Give it up bro, you don't know if those will work" Micah said
"I have to keep trying especially with the fair coming up, you know what we're going to be displaying there don't you?" Archie asked
"Of course I do man, and you're right" Micah smiled as the pair walked into the cafeteria.
"So nothing with the hardware then?" Micah asked
"Nope" Archie said as he bit into his sausage "Hm"
"What?" Micah asked
"They've got melted cheese, and what I think is a hint of garlic" Archie said
"No kidding" Micah said trying it "Damn those are good" he said "But anyway are you going to try again?"
"I have to man, I tell you I'm so close to doing it," Archie said
"Do you even remember when you lost them?" Micah questioned
"No" Archie said "I can't tell if I ever use them that's how long I've been in that chair for" he laid back as sighed, the two looked up to see a girl glare at them as she walked past "Katia Krast" Archie said.
"What's her deal?" Micah asked
"I'm not sure" Archie said as he continued to eat his breakfast.
"Okay, door lock" he said as he put a cup of chocolate milk on a table and wheeled himself back 2 meters. "Bracer test 205 "Activating bracers" he said. "Detaching now" he said as he heard several clicks and he locked the chair's wheels. "Test in three" he said as he got up, stumbling a bit "Come on" he growled before he stood up. "Standing test green" he said taking a step he smiled before he crumpled to tee ground letting loose a sound of restoration. "test 205, failed" he said sitting up and ragging him back to the chair he used. "Linking up, disengaging" he said as he rolled over to the table and grabbed the milk sculling it down in an instant. "Hardware seems fine, possible software error. Also possibly user error" he said as he looked at the ceiling "Probability of working 2%" he said
"Hey Archie" a girl asked as she walked in, her hair a soft brown colour except for the neon orange and pink streaks
"Oh hey Lucy" he said
"You okay?" she asked as she looked around "Another failed test?" she asked
"Yeah" Archie nodded
"You'll get it one day" Lucy said as she opened a file on her own project for the fair and typed in a code
"That new drone you're working one?" Archie asked
"It is, look I know what you're working is bleeding edge, but you're also focused on one part of it, what you and Micah are doing is incredible, no one else has thought of what you're doing" Lucy said "Everyone in the support industry is excited to see what Townsville and Delgado are going to wow us with next. You guys are seriously impressive and you know what?"
"People couldn't give a rat's ass if I'm paralysed or not" he smiled as he looked at the software "I hope we can get this to work since I have a feeling we'll need it" he frowned
"From what?" Lucy asked as she made balls of neon light.
"I'm not sure" Archie frowned.
"Those miserable peons" Katia said as she went into her private lab, analysing something she was keeping secret form everyone. She could tell this was going to be her best work "After all one isn't a genius like me and makes crap" she smirked pouring a cup of honey infused black coffee with the constancy of sludge. The way she loved it, the feeling of it sliding down her throat "But I'm worried about what Townsville and Delgado are working on, they have been ranked the top two student of our support departments since they started her. They could put a unexpected wrinkle in my plans to win" she muttered as she checked the data again, and again. "But how do I check?" she pondered as she ran more sequences. Her smile slowly grew, wider and more maniac. "Yes , yes this will work and once it does I will change the world for the better" she laughed.
"You seriously want to try again?" Micah asked frowning
"I am" Archie sternly nodded
"it doesn't matter if you don't get it ready in time, but you have to make sure it works otherwise the project won't work" Lucy sighed tinkering with her drone.
"It's okay, I triple checked everything" Archie raised his voice "Disengaging the braces, wheelchair locked." Archie said
"System's looking good" Micah said
"Everything checks out here" Lucy smiled as Archie slowly started to stand, helping the guys out
"Stabiliser are lagging" Micah frowned as he checked the code
"I figured" Archie frowned as he was now standing, it was unsteady but at least he was standing
"stabilisers are at 74%, 75, 76, 77" Lucy read out getting more and more excited
"it's looking good man" Micah smiled as he checked the readings
"Okay, engaging walking function" Archie said taking a step, then a second before he tried to take a third step and stumbled; Micah and Lucy quickly caught him with his chair moving over to him.
"I walked...I walked" Archie smiled
"How long has it been?" Micah asked happy
"Too long, I can't even remember" Archie sat back down in his chair as the braces disengaged, a victorious smile on his face
"Look at him, smiling as if he's All-Might" Micah laughed.
"I am Here" Archie declared proudly imitating the symbol of peace from the past making the trio laugh. "We've done it guys"
"Yeah, one more week and we can get it down pact!" Lucy laughed
"Oh yeah guys, we've done this" Archie smiled.
"Come on let's work on the main section" Micah said as they walked/wheeled to a different section, passing a smiling Katia
"Hey Katia" Archie said
"Oh hey" she said bored as she passed them.
Soon the weeks had passed and all of the tech division students were setting up their displays and projects.
"A little to the left" Archie said as Micah adjusted a tarp over their project
"This is gold, heck I bet this would be vibranium" Micah smiled
"Man this is going to be fu" Lucy said walking over holing a latte as she was taking in the other area "Some of the third year are demoing some new cutting edge medical tech" she smiled
"Compared to our bleeding edge tech, this is going to be awesome" Archie rolled over to the stage "Thanks for helping Lucy, I know you have your own thing"
"No worries" Lucy smiled.
"Hey" Kelly said
"Kels" Archie smiled, moving over to her making her smile as he leaned his chair back a bit so he could see her face a bit better
"So you think you got this?" she asked
"Oh yeah" Archie smiled as he high fived her
"Hopefully this can lead to some massive breakthroughs" Kelly soled before she saw Katia was setting something up
"You sense it too huh?" Archie asked
"Yeah" Kelly nodded as she wanted to go over and punch her, she needed to have proof before she did
"I heard her mumbling something about a Hoplite, now why would she be talking about Ancient Greek soldiers?" Kelly asked
"I don't know but I'm nervous" Archie said.
Soon he event was starting and several of the judging panels were looking around the exam floor, one man in particular was smiling
"Ah Mr Yaoyorozu" Mr Jackman said
"Please call me Hikaru" the man laughed shaking the hand of the Jackman Principal "I'm still surprised that your here" Hikaru said
"Me too, but someone has to lead these students" he laughed
"And I hear you have some very talented first years this year" Kazu said
"Indeed, and there are three of my best, Archer Townsville, Micah Delgado and Lucille Kennedy" Logan smiled
"Any idea what they're working on?" Hikaru asked
"Nope" Mr Jackman said
"I see" Hikaru said before he spotted Katia at her workstation, which the judges were reaching.
"Oh hello" Katia waved
"miss Katia Krast" the lead judge said "You have created a new generation of security robot?" he asked
"Yes I have, one that locked onto the genetic signature of a person and uses that to hunt them down" Katia said as she unveiled a centaur looking machine with a lion and warrior themed to it the judges were examining it.
"What do you call it?" one of the other judges asked.
"I call it the Hoplite" Katia smiled turning it one making it scan the room
"TARGET IDENTIFIED!" the Hoplite said
"Oh and what is it targeting?" the third judge asked
"Well considering we're in a target rich environment...everyone in this room but me" she darkly smiled "For you see this robot has a single purpose, getting rid of all you freaks" she snarled
"What do you mean?" the head Judge asked
"Quirk Eradication beginning" the Hoplite said
"Quirk eradication?" the second judge asked shocked
"That's right, I made this machine to kill anyone with a quirk. And once I've got everything ready my Hoplite army will restore the world to the way it should be, not filled with heroes or villains, not by those who use superpowers. That's right people I'm returning the world back to the way it was" Katia laughed like a maniac before the Hoplite deployed a blade and killed the judges. Everyone in the room were shocked before they started to run for the exits
"I don't think so" Katia sang out as several doors were closed and locked. Archie frowned and them looked up something and saw her last name and rearranged the letters learning something shocking.
"Katia Krast is really Katalina Trask" Archie said
"Trask is in, Bolivar Trask the man who created the Sentinels in the early days of quirks?" Lucy asked
"So she created a new generation of Sentinels" Micah growled as he turned invisible "I'll try and get the door open"
"Okay, maybe it's time for a field test" Archie said
"No, we haven't tested the full thing!" Lucy exclaimed
"We need to" Archie said "It's the only way we can save everyone here" Archie argued "GO!" Archie shouted as he wheeled himself over to their project,.
"Oh my, look at them all terrified" Katalina laughed as she watched the chaos, a bag of peanuts nearby enjoying the spectacle. Micah was using his quirk to hide from her as he got close to the Hoplite control panel and tried to deactivate them
"I don't think so, mutant freak" Katalina said as she leapt down
"I'm not a freak" Micah turned off his quirk
"Why?" Micah asked "Just because you're quirkless?"
"Yes, because those are quirkless are the ones treated as freaks as the mutants grew in numbers and they then called their mutations as quirks to make them sound better, and when they did, all technological and scientific advancement stopped, all everyone was worried about were heroes and quirks I'm returning to the way everything was,"
"We're just the next stage" Micah shouted
"And it's an error" Katalina snorted as the Hoplite threw another student across the room
"NO!" Micah shouted.
"I GOT THEM" Archie said as a man wearing a metallic silver suit walked over, everyone was confused as where the metallic figured
"That voice" Mr Jackman said
"LADIES AND GENTLEMAN, I"M SORRY FOR THIS, BUT i THINK WE NEED TO DEMONSTART OUR PROJECT, AND GIVEN WE HAVE A MAD MACHINE ATTACKING I FIGURED WHY NOT NOW!" Archie called out making Lucy quickly check the data
"All systems green" she smiled making the weaker nod and walked towards the machine, who scanned him
"Quirk detect marked for eradication" the hoplite declared as it walked forward
"Here cyber kitty, I got something for you" Archie said as he deployed an energy blade.
"Oh yeah" Micah cheered running over "You got the mic?" he asked
"Why don't we just you know, wait and see if Archie can handle that thing" Lucy glared at Micah who just grabbed a microphone
"LIKE MY FRIEND SAID WE HAVE A MAD MACHINE WANTING TO KILL US...SOUNDS LIEK A BAD SCI-FI MOVIE, BUT ALLOW US TO INTRODUCE THE METAMORPHIC ENHANCEMENT TACTICAL ARMOUR!" Micha said
"Oh yeah" Archie smiled as he walked up to the hoplite, which turned towards him and scraped his foot along the ground as if i was going to charge
"Not bad, looks like a steel-titanium alloy armour, plasma blade generator" Archie scanned it before he pulled out a heavy club like weapon,. The Hoplite tried to stab him, so Archie side stepped and slammed the baton into the head of the hoplite, making it stagger back.
"The Armour has the ability to change to whatever threat whether it be marine, fire, urban combat this armour can transform to counter the threat" Lucy said as the Hoplite tried to bite only for Archie to hold it back when a holster appeared out of the armour, Archie grabbed it and aimed at the head, blasting it several time before it fell over. Archie twirled the gun and placed it back in the holster before he crowd to the crowd.
"You think it will be that easy?" Katalina asked making Archie frown
"Where there is one, there are more" when two more hoplites appeared
"WHAO!" the guys said making Katalina laughed
"So, my Hoplites will continue where my ancestor Bolivar left off, and once they are done with you I'll use them to recreate Operation Zero Tolerance" she laughed
"She's gone crazy" Micah said.
"No kidding" Archie said knocking the head off a Hoplite then grabbing his blaster and fired at the last one which had deployed a shield. "Okay then" he said before the Hoplite grabbed onto his arm and threw him into the ground. "Ow" he groaned as the Hoplite deployed it's blade. Acting quickly Archie grabbed the arm with the blade and directed it to the ground, before blasting the arm off making it back off. Archie recharged his blaster and fired at its head, making it flop to the ground
"That was anticlimactic" Micah said.
"Yeah yeah" Archie got up and glared at Katalina
"What?" Katalina asked.
"Operation Zero Tolerance, you seriously want to bring that back?" Archie asked as he got up
"Oh yes, after all it did work, there was a slight dip in mutant freaks, but sadly the X-Men stopped it. Those goodie goodies stopped my ancestor from saving the human race from from their mutant future" Katalina said.
"But then they were overwhelmed by the wave of villainy formed by the rise of quirks and after a decade there was no more OZT and slowly those with powers and abilities started to treat the started to treat those with abilities the same as they were when it" Archie said as he pointed his gun at her "Turn them off" he said "or else"
"You wouldn't, you wouldn't hurt a classmate" Katalina smirked
"You stopped being a when you attempted to kill 250 people" Archie snarled
"You think that I'm just going to stop?" Katalina asked
"I do" Archie said as he put his blaster away as his wheelchair arrived. "Armour disengage" he said as he sat back down and disengaged his the bracer and sat there
"What are you doing?" she asked
"I'm tired, it's a prototype so I can't use it for long" he said taking a drink "Yes I have a quirk, but it makes up for what I can't do and you can...walk; you don't see me taking it out on anyone who has legs and can walk." Archie told her."So that's it you're just letting me go because you can't walk and I have no quirk?" Katalina asked
"Oh shit no we're not" Archie said before Katalina felt something tap her shoulder, looking behind her Kelly was there smiling before she punched the quirkless student
"So hot" Archie smirked
"Oh shut up honey" she said before the doors were kicked in
"IS EVERYONE OKAY!" Zack rushed in with several others. The older students taking care of those who were injured.
"Yeah,. Just dealing with the spawn of Trask" Kelly kicked Katalina
"You freaks" Katalina said "Don't think you'll get away with this shit"
"We already have" Archie told her skulling down a bottle of milk.
"Get up" a guard said dragging Katalina away.
An hour later everything was set up again and everything was ready to continue.
"We're the last one" Micah said "And we did a physical field test we need to tell them about it" Lucy smiled
"Okay," Archie got on the stage "HELLO EVERYONE, I'm Archie Townsville and with my friend Mica, we have developed this Metamorphic Enhancement Tactical Armour, and like we said it can suit anything the wearer needs" Archie said as the now silver with a full face guard. "We said it could be use by those in the water" he said making it look light blue and gain fins, "Fire fighting" he said making it metallic red with an extending neck guard, "Urban combat and security" he added returning it to the original silver colour "Even locations where HAZMAT is needed" he smiled making it a green colour with a respirator.
"Now you're probably wonder why we made it?" Lucy asked "Simple... we built them so people who are quirkless can go into those sort of places and work alongside those with quirks, even fight villains along with the police" she said making the armour turn jet black with red and blue markings "Eventually we hope to make a civilian model where those who can't walk, can't use their arms or hands can do those again" she smiled making the crowd interested, Especially Mr Yaoyorozu, who nodded know his daughter's friend from America was quirkless, something he would surely love.
"Remember this is just the prototype which was just going to be displaying some features but we will continue to work on it and even build a feminine version" Micah said as the armour took on a girlish look. "But that won't be until after we graduate" he smiled
"So just wait until we're finished the real thing" Archie said
"Thank you" they bowed, happy at what had happened. Archie especially standing up to try and bow which he was able to do thanks to his friends
"We did it guys" Archie smiled
"Yeah we did." Micah nodded.
G'day Guys Grizz here with a new showcase chapter like the one I did for Yukiko and Bowman only this time si Archie and Micah from teh support department and two new female character, one of which is basically a genderswapped Bolivar and the other can be a analogue for Gwen Stacy like how Archie and Micah are Tony Stark and Miles Morales. Now as you knwo I made Archie unable to walk and so I wanted to show that he is trying to get hsi legs back like Rhodye was in Civil War, and one again my love of all things X-Men comes in with the hoplites which are basically sentinels.
Now for a big announcement...I'm going to be finishing this fic sometime before the end of July probably don't worry these guys aren't going anywhere for now so you have about two months of chapters left making this one of my biggest MHA projects on this site and is finished. Plus eventually Mrotrax is going to have a chance to get to work with these characters in his Pen-Pal fic. Also this no has a TvTropes page, YAY! so go check that out there's not much there right now, but there will be more
