Thalia

Today was like any other day except I was moving into an old run down Inn that I had bought and planned to fix up. As I stepped off the plane I marveled at how pretty Japan was. It was so beautiful and I was happy to finally be here. Once I got my luggage I rushed out the doors to the airport. It was just before sunset and it looked gorgeous outside. I hailed a cab grateful that I had learned enough Japanese to get me through a simple conversation. I was excited to see the Inn. However my excitement was short-lived. When I arrived at the Inn I would be fixing up I was horrified. It was a lot more run down than the owner had said it was. I expected it to be bad, but not this bad. The second problem was the woman standing at the front gate when I got out of the taxi. I didn't know who she was and by the look on her face I knew something was wrong. I paid the cab driver and grabbed my luggage. I walked up to the gate and smiled at the woman.

"Hello? I'm Thalia. Are you Ms. Tachibana?" I asked and the woman turned around.

I was surprised. She was a lot younger than the woman on the phone I talked to.

"I'm her daughter." The woman replied in Japanese.

Okay. I could work with that. It's not that weird that she would send her daughter instead.

"Is she alright? She said she would send someone to show me the Inn." The woman suddenly looked upset.

"I'm sorry, but the Inn is not for sale. I will refund your money." She said.

What? Why? I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

"Please don't." I said.

I could feel the tears gathering in my eyes. I had come here for my safety, but also to do something with my life. To start fresh.

"I'm sorry. I just can't let my mother have a contract with you for this place. I don't know you." She said.

"Then run a background check. I am also more than happy to answer any and all questions you have. I came here to get away, but also for a fresh start. If you are so worried I can shadow you for a few days. Keep an eye on me. I don't care. You're a Hero here in Japan. Have another hero keep an eye on me. One here in Esuha City. Just please let me stay. Let me fix this place up." I was begging.

I came here for my safety. I left everyone I loved behind. My friends, my family, all thanks to my soon to be crazy and abusive ex-husband. However he told me he wouldn't sign those divorce papers. He got used to my quirk. My quirk is similar to the hero in front of me, but it's also different. I can be a living aphrodisiac.

"I'm sorry, but I can't. This place means so much to me." She said.

My heart broke into a million tiny pieces.

"Okay. I'll contact you in a couple of days for the refund." I said.

I rushed off down the road. Tears started slipping down my face. The one time I do something for me and it falls through. I ended up on a bench. It was on the edge of a park. My phone rang and I wiped my eyes.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Thalia? I finally got your new number." I froze.

The caller ID had said it was my lawyer.

"Let him go. You let him go!" I yelled into the phone.

"Oh, Thalia. I can't do that. He's helping keep you away from me. Now be a good little slut and tell me where you are." He said.

"You won't get anything out of me. You hurt one hair on his head and I will go electronically silent. You won't be able to track me. Now let him go and leave!" I yelled.

"No." He said.

I could feel the panic the panic building in my chest. I hung up and removed the chip from my phone. I settled back into the bench and then I found myself rushing back to the Inn. When I got there Midnight was still there.

"Please! Let me fix this place up. Then it's yours." She spun around surprised.

Then she looked irritated for a second and then ran her eyes over me from head to toe.

"You'll answer all my questions?" She asked.

"Yes! Anything you want!" I could feel the tears again.

"If you're going to fix this place up you'll need some money. I want a full report every month. I'll give you half of what you paid my mother." She said and I shook my head.

"You don't need to do that. I'll get a job and pay for it that way. That money is your mother's." She looked irritated at me again.

"It's not that I'm not grateful for the offer. I just want your mom to get what she asked for. I want to do this so I'll earn the money for the renovations another way. Your Mom is letting me stay here while I renovate. It's the least I can do." I bit my lip hoping she'd except what I said.

Then I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Is everything okay Midnight?" I felt the need to run.

I sidestepped away from the man's hand and turned to look at him. He was in a yellow hero suit with a black mask over his eyes.

"Are you okay?" He asked and I quickly smiled.

"I'm okay. You just scared me a bit. I also just try not to let people touch me. I have great control over my quirk, but things still happen from time to time." I said.

"What's your quirk?" Midnight asked.

I froze. I knew that was coming. I looked down and then back at Midnight.

"I- uh, my quirk is- uh, it's, um, I'm essentially a, uh l-living a-aphrodisiac." I mumbled.

I knew Midnight's quirk, but I didn't recognize the man in yellow. I bit my cheek and the. Midnight wrapped an arm around me.

"Well I think we will get along nicely." She said and I blushed not understanding where the change in behavior came from.

I glanced at the man dressed in yellow and he looked just as uncomfortable as I felt. I licked my lips.

"Well, I should get going." The man in yellow said.

"Wait Taishiro! I have a favor. Can you keep an eye on Thalia since I'll be busy with school. She might need a place to stay in case this place isn't suitable. I'd offer her my place, but I don't live in Esuha. Do you mind?" I tried to escape from Midnight's grip.

"It's fine." I whispered.

Midnight turned us around.

"Listen here. I understand your fear of your quirk, but I also know or at least suspect your running. From whom I don't know. If your quirk is what you say it is, it didn't take me long to deduce what happened. Taishiro is the nicest hero you're ever going to meet. I'd trust him with you over any other hero, do you understand?" She asked me gently.

"Okay." I said and nodded.

She turned us back around and we were looking at Taishiro.

"So do you mind Taishiro?" Midnight asked.

I wanted to shrink away from the both of them. I could feel the sweat sliding down my back because of my nerves. I glanced at Taishiro and noticed he seemed very hesitant about doing this. I glanced away from him, understanding his hesitation. I wouldn't want a living, ticking time bomb in my house either. I made sure my gloves were on and knelt down for my bags.

"I'll just check into a hotel. I d-don't want to be a bother." I glanced up at the hero in yellow and saw he still looked super uncomfortable.

"I don't think that's a good idea for her to be at my house and you know why Midnight." He said.

"Oh come on Taishiro! Please?" Midnight begged.

I took a few steps backwards knowing he was probably going to say no.

"It's okay. I'll go find a motel." I turned around and walked away from them.

A hand grabbed my collar.

"Oh no you don't." Midnight pulled me back in front of Taishiro.

She pushed me in his direction and I dropped my bags to hold my hands out in front of me and catch myself. He caught my wrists and I gasped. His hands were warm and his hold on them gentle. I looked up at him and in that instant I knew if I didn't have a crazy ex I would definitely consider being with this man. However, I couldn't for his safety.

"I'm sorry." I gently tried to pull my hands away.

He tightened his grip on my wrists. I looked down at my hands and then back up at him. His brows were furrowed and I felt a little scared. I felt Midnight's hands on my shoulders.

"Then it's settled right?" She asked.

I took a deep breath and smiled at Taishiro.

"If you don't want to, you don't have to. I would understand with my quirk being what it is. If I'm too much of a risk I understand." I pulled my hands out of his.

"It's not a problem." He smiled at me.

I smiled at him surprised. I still picked up my bags ready to follow him.

"Thank you." Midnight squealed.

I smiled at him and he smiled back.

"Oh you two are so cute!" She squealed again.

I bit my lip and felt a blush appear on my face. Where did that come from? I glanced at the hero in yellow and my whole face turned red. He was blushing as well.

"Well I'll see you two later! Have fun!" Midnight yelled, walking away.

Suddenly I felt a surge run through my body and it felt like someone splashed cold water on me.

No, no, no, not now.

I now had an hour before I started to be affected by my own quirk. I had to be assertive and tell him I wasn't staying with him.

"I'm sorry, but tonight might not be the best for me to start staying with you." I said and he looked confused.

"Nonsense. I don't mind having you stay with me. I'm just a little self conscious. Just follow me." He said.

I panicked.

"It's not that. I have an hour before the effects of my quirk affect me. I'm so stupid, it's a once a year thing. It normally doesn't happen for another two months but it's just that it's been a rough month. I have like an hour before I start having side effects. It's just better if I deal with this alone." I picked up my bags and I started backing away.

"Wait. It would be better if you came with me. You would be safer with me. Come on. It's okay." He gently took my suitcase and took my free hand.

I didn't fight him as he guided me down the sidewalk. That panicky feeling in my chest I had disappeared. I felt safe with him and that was something I hadn't felt in years.

Quirk 1: Aphrodisiac

She can create any chemical substance or scents with her body as long as she knows the exact chemical recipe.

Drawback: Once a year she is affected by her own quirk for like a week.

Quirk 2: Fate

Thalia has a second quirk, however it is one she can use until she meets Fatgum. She can see and feel when two people are destined to be together. She can also track a single person once she touches them. She can follow the 'color' of that person. However, the only way this quirk becomes known is when she finds the person who she is meant to be with. The one who she is meant to be with is also able to see colors as long as they are in physical contact with each other.
