Thalia

I left Taishiro's house fuming. Whatever just happened was odd and irritating. Taishiro and his brother couldn't be any more different than they already were. Taishiro had been nothing except sweet and understanding, while his brother was a jerk. I found a nearby coffee shop. I ordered a blended drink and sat on a bench outside. I pulled out my phone. It started ringing in my hand and I saw it was an American area code. I answered quickly.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Hello is this Thalia Gray?" A male asked me.

"Yes, this is her. What is this about?" I asked.

A sinking feeling settled in my stomach. There was a moment of silence, followed by paper rustling.

"Are you married to Sebastian Thomas?" The man asked.

My blood ran cold.

"I am. However, before I flew to Japan I gave my soon to be ex husband divorce papers." I said.

My chest started to feel heavy.

"I'm sorry to tell you this, but your husband is wanted for murder." I bit my lip.

"Can you tell me who his victims are?" My voice sounds shaky.

"That I can't do. I'm sorry, but it's still an open investigation. Has he called you recently, ma'am?" It felt like the whole world was closing in on me.

"Yes. Last night around 9 o' clock in Japan. He was calling from my lawyers office." My throat felt dry.

"I see. Would you be able to fly down here to answer questions?" I felt sick.

"I'm sorry I can't. I came down here for a fresh start. I don't have the money to go back. I am more than happy to cooperate. I just c-can't go back. I will help as much as I can. I'm in Eruha city. I can always go to a police station down here and they can ask or get whatever they need from me and fax it to you." I wanted this call to end.

"Ma'am it would be easier if you just flew back to the states. Could you please arrange that?" The detective asked.

"I can't," I yelled, "I'm not going back because that bastard used me for my quirk! I'm not going back until his ass is behind bars! You need me, you come to me! I'm not going back until he is gone, and I'm safe!" I hung up and grabbed my bag.

I quickly left the cafe and rushed towards the direction of the inn. When I got there I was sweating. I quickly took out a rag and wiped my face off. I took a deep breath and quickly walked up to the front door. I pulled the keys I got from Midnight out and unlocked the door. The dust was thick in the air so I went around trying to open any of the four windows in the living room. One opened, but the rest were stuck. There was nothing in the living room. I looked around and opened the rest of the curtains. The walls would definitely need to be redone. The windows would need to be refitted and fixed. I pulled out a pad and a pen and started making a list. I would make a list of all the things that I saw that needed to be fixed. Once I started going up the stairs I started seeing water damage. Once I got to the top of the stairs I stopped completely because I couldn't go any further. I hadn't thought the damage was this bad. I decided it was time to go back down. I held on to the railing, as I started to take a step I heard the huge creek that followed by floor starting to give.

"Be careful!" Someone yelled.

I gripped the railing and looked up at the door. There was a chubby man in the same kind of hero costume that Taishiro wore yesterday. Except I had a feeling it was his brother. I swung myself and jumped down to the bottom of the stairs. I looked up at the man who was in the doorway. It was definitely the man from this morning. I didn't need to deal with this right now.

"Are you okay?" He looked uncomfortable.

"I'm fine. I lift weights and train outside of my quirk. I take it you are helping keep an eye on me when Taishiro can't?" I asked.

A strange look drifted over his face.

"Yeah. Also Taishiro told me to apologize. I'm just a little defensive when it comes to people judging me about my weight. I worked hard to get to where I am today. I opened my own agency and I became a Pro Hero with my quirk. It's my greatest accomplishment." I understood where he was coming from.

"I understand. It's nice to officially meet you Fatgum! I'm Thalia Gray." I held my hand out to him.

I smiled to make myself more approachable. He looked a little unsure and then he smiled. He took my hand in his and warmth spread throughout my glove. It was weird, but it wasn't uncomfortable. It felt oddly welcoming and safe.

"It's nice to meet you too. I'm Tanjiro Toyomitsu." He smiled a huge smile at me.

A huge difference to how he was this morning. Then my phone rang. I let go of his hand and pulled my phone out of my purse. I didn't recognize the number. I didn't want to answer, but I knew I had to. It could be anyone.

"Hello?" I held my breath.

"Good, I was able to call you. It's me Midnight." I sighed in relief.

"Hi Midnight. Is everything okay?" I turned towards Tanjiro and smiled.

"Yeah. I just wanted to get an update. Have you got a list of what needs to be fixed?" I sighed in frustration.

"Yeah. I do. However I don't think the list will matter much. I'm going to have to have someone come out and look, but I think there's too much water damage upstairs. I didn't get past the stairs. Even then it was dangerous." I glanced at Tanjiro.

"I see. So how is Taishiro treating you?" She sounded super excited now.

"He's great. I'm with Fatgum right now." I heard obnoxious laughter from Midnights end.

I glanced at Fatgum. He was looking at me and I smiled.

"Midnight?" I looked down.

"Sorry. Sorry. It's just that Taishiro is Fatgum. I just thought he would have said something by now." I bit my lip.

"I see. Well let's not let on that I know, for now. I want to hear it from him. I plan on heading back to his apartment. I'm going to find someone who could tell me how much water damage the house has. Talk to you later, okay?" I turned away from Fatgum.

"Okay! Don't have too much fun! Don't do anything I would do!" She hung up.

I felt my face heat up in embarrassment.

"Are you okay?" I turned to Fatgum, or rather Taishiro.

I wasn't sure how to respond. I could understand why he wouldn't tell me about the fact that he and Fatgum were one in the same. I grabbed my bag and the keys to the house. I joined Fatgum on the porch. I locked the door behind me. I stood there for a moment. It felt weird calling Taishiro, Tanjiro. I wanted to call him by his real name now that I knew the truth.

"I think I'll head back to Taishiro's place. I have to do some research. You can go do your patrol if you need." I couldn't look at him.

I know Midnight wouldn't lie. Taishiro doesn't have to tell me he's Fatgum. So why am I so mad? Maybe because I was honest about my quirk? I told him the truth about my quirk and he couldn't show me the same respect. I divulge my quirk even if I am scared about what people will think of me when I tell them. I slept in his bed last night. I know we aren't a thing, but couldn't he have at least realized I would be the most understanding.

"Thalia?" I spun around.

"Sorry. I got lost in thought. I should probably get going. See you later?" I asked, smiling.

I made my way past him. My hand brushed against his and a warmth shot up my arm. I stopped and glanced up at him. That warmth was something I had never felt from anyone I had ever been with before. Maybe it was something to do with my father's quirk. He always told me when he met Mom, he knew immediately she was the one. Sadly they both died in a car accident 8 years ago. As far as I knew I only had one quirk. However I know that his quirk didn't become active until he met my Mom.

I couldn't deal with this. Not now.

"See you later, Tanjiro." I walked down the stairs.

I felt a pressure on my chest. I wanted to go back to him, but I ignored the feeling. After I got through the gate my phone rang again. I sighed as I closed the gate. I pulled my phone out. It was a United States area code again.

"Hello?" I asked.

"Mrs. Gray?" A male voice asked.

"Yes, this is she." I said.

"You're husband is being charged with multiple counts of murder in the first degree. I have a Detective flying down today to question you tomorrow." My throat felt dry.

"I'm in Eruha City. Give them my number and I will meet with them tomorrow to answer any questions." I said.

"Thank you, Ma'am. Have a wonderful day." They hung up.

Taishiro was still watching me. I smiled back at him and waved. I turned and started towards his apartment. This was going to be a long week.
