Happy Birthday KakaAnko!
"Look, look, it's him!" Beverly squealed excitedly gripping Caesar's arm.
"Who?" Caesar tried to look in the direction that Beverly was pointing but the hundreds of flashes that were going off from people's phones as they tried to take pictures of the celebrities blinded him.
Beverly and Caesar stood behind some velvet ropes being jostled by dozens of people trying to get a good look at the people walking the proverbial red carpet. Rex had saved some actor when one of the crewman went EVO from the N-juice he had been secretly taking. They were so grateful they gave him opening premiere tickets. But Rex didn't care for the actor so he gave them to Caesar or rather he gave them to Caesar so he could take Beverly who happened to love the actor.
"Antonio is so dreamy." She gushed.
"I don't see what's so special about him." Caesar grumbled.
"He's so handsome with a body to die for." Beverly began snapping pictures as Antonio made his way down waving as he went. "Oh, he smiled at me!"
"He smiled at everyone." Caesar pointed out.
"Antonio! Antonio! Over here!" She waved wildly at the actor ignoring Caesar.
Caesar frowned as the actor walked over and took a selfie with her. As he winked at her, Caesar's frown grew deeper.
"I can't believe I got a picture with him! He's so cool!" Beverly clutched her phone to her chest.
"He's just like any other guy." Caesar groused.
Beverly wasn't listening to him. She was talking excitedly with another fan next to her as they compared pictures of their favorite actor.
Soon they were ushered into the theater and into their seats.
Beverly was chattering excitedly but Caesar wasn't listening.
I could look as good as him if I had a personal trainer and private chef and someone picking out my clothes. He thought darkly. He isn't that impressive.
The lights in the theater dimmed. Antonio walked out with a microphone and flashed everyone a smile.
"Good evening everyone! I'm so happy that you are all here tonight to see the premiere of my new movie "Where the flowers grow". We all worked really hard to bring you the best adaptation of this classic. We hope you enjoy it. Now without further ado…" He stepped to the side as the curtain rose. The projector went on and the crowd gave a cheer as pictures flashed across the screen.
Caesar in spite of himself starting to really get into the movie. He hated to admit it but Antonio was a very good actor. He was believable as a widowed doctor trying to stop corruption while raising his children. He looked over at Beverly who was watching with rapt attention. Caesar felt a pang of jealousy. Beverly was gushing over the actor so much. But he was everything Caesar was not: outgoing, charismatic, good with people, rich.
Suddenly, the lights went on. Caesar looked around. The people were murmuring. A man in a suit came out nervously.
"Apologies to everyone, but there seems to be technical difficulties with the equipment. We will resume with the movie as soon as we have the problem fixed."
Beverly gripped Caesar's arm. "I bet you can fix it." She said excitedly.
"Que wha?" Caesar looked at her in surprise.
"There's nothing technical you can't figure out." She said proudly.
"I… I… guess." He stuttered. "But I'm sure they have their own…"
Beverly was already flagging down an usher. "My boyfriend can fix anything if you need some help." She told him.
The usher seemed to think about it before disappearing. A few minutes later he and the man in the suit appeared.
"I heard you can fix anything?" He asked anxiously.
"If it's mechanical I can take a look at it." Caesar said.
"Please come with us." He asked politely.
Caesar got up and looked at Beverly. Her eyes were sparkling.
He nodded and her and walked off with them.
Beverly watched them disappear down the aisle. "That's my boyfriend. He'll figure out what's going on." She told the people around her.
A few minutes passed, then ten. When the crowds started to get restless, Antonio came out with some of the other cast members and began talking about their experiences making the movie. The audience was distracted enough not to realize that almost 40 minutes had passed. The movie theater went dark again, and the pictures once again appeared on the screen. The audience cheered and the actor exited the stage. As the movie played, Caesar came back with the usher who was holding the flashlight.
"Thanks." The usher whispered as he walked away.
Beverly hugged his arm tightly. Caesar sat up a little straighter. Finally, the movie ended. The actors came out again.
"We would like to thank you all for coming out and watching the movie. We also would like to extend a special thanks to Caesar Salazar for helping us with our technical difficulties." Antonio said. Some of the other actors came up next to speak. After they finished and their good byes were said, everyone clapped and started to get up to leave. Some of the audience went up to the stage to talk to the cast.
"So you want to go up?" Caesar asked Beverly who was still holding his arm.
"Nah, it's already late. Let's go home." She smiled at him.
"I'm sure I can you up to Antonio." He said.
"I already got a picture with him. Besides I want to hang out with you now." She beamed at him. "So, tell me how you fixed the projector."
Caesar smiled as he pulled her closer. "I couldn't figure out at first why the HDMI cable was connected to…."
He continued to talk as they walked out into the night.
