Chapter 1 – A New Beginning

The stadium roared with anticipation as the final match of the World Junior Karate Championships 2018 was about to begin. The atmosphere was electric, with spectators from around the world gathered to witness the culmination of months of intense competition. On one side of the ring stood Uzumaki Naruto, representing the hidden leaf style a form of Shotokan, known for its powerful, linear movements and strong stances. His blonde hair and bright blue eyes contrasted sharply with the determined expression on his face. On the other side stood Uchiha Sasuke, a prodigy of the Uchiha Kyokushin style, characterized by its emphasis on full contact sparring and tough conditioning. His dark hair and piercing onyx eyes reflected a calm, focused intensity.

Naruto and Sasuke had been rivals since childhood, their paths constantly intersecting through various martial arts tournaments and training camps. Despite their different backgrounds and styles, they shared a mutual respect and an unyielding drive to surpass each other. This match was more than just a contest of skill; it was the latest chapter in their long-standing rivalry.

As the referee signalled the start of the match, both fighters assumed their stances. Naruto's eyes narrowed as he focused on Sasuke, while Sasuke's gaze remained steady and unblinking. In the crowd, Jiraiya, Naruto's sensei, watched intently, his usual jovial demeanour replaced by a rare seriousness. Beside him, Uchiha Fugaku, Sasuke's father and sensei, observed with a stern, analytical eye.

"Remember what I taught you, Naruto," Jiraiya muttered under his breath, gripping the edge of his seat. "Stay calm and use your speed."

Fugaku crossed his arms, his gaze unwavering. "Show them the strength of the Uchiha, Sasuke."

The first exchange was a blur of motion, with both fighters demonstrating their mastery of their respective styles. Naruto's rapid, precise strikes were met with Sasuke's powerful, well timed counters. The sound of their blows echoed through the arena, each one a testament to their skill and determination.

"You're fast, Naruto," Sasuke said between breaths, blocking a high kick. "But speed alone won't be enough to beat me."

Naruto grinned, sweat trickling down his forehead. "We'll see about that, Sasuke."

The match progressed with neither fighter gaining a clear advantage. Each point was hard-fought, with the score tied and the next point determining the winner. The crowd was on the edge of their seats, captivated by the display of skill and determination.

As the clock ticked down, both fighters knew that this was their final opportunity to secure victory. Naruto took a deep breath, centring himself and drawing on his training. He could feel the weight of his sensei's teachings and the support of his friends. Sasuke, equally focused, channelled the discipline and strength he had honed over years of rigorous practice.

In a final, decisive exchange, Naruto launched a high kick, aiming for Sasuke's head. Sasuke anticipated the move, preparing to counter with a swift, powerful punch. But in a split second, Naruto shifted his weight and executed a spinning back kick, catching Sasuke off guard. The impact was solid, and Sasuke stumbled back but quickly regained his footing with an agile backflip.

Sasuke's eyes sharpened, recognizing the opportunity. With a burst of speed, he closed the distance between them and launched a series of rapid punches. Naruto blocked the first few, but Sasuke's final punch slipped through his defences, landing squarely on his chest. The force of the blow sent Naruto to the mat.

As Naruto lay on the mat, his mind drifted back to a time when he and Sasuke were kids. It was another tournament, years ago, when they first faced each other in competition.

The younger Naruto and Sasuke stood opposite each other in the ring. Back then, they were still friends, their rivalry more of a playful challenge than the fierce competition it would become. Naruto's cheerful grin and Sasuke's confident smirk were signs of their youth and camaraderie.

The match began, and despite Sasuke's best efforts, Naruto's unconventional and unpredictable moves won the day. As the referee raised Naruto's hand in victory, the crowd cheered, and Naruto extended his hand to Sasuke.

"You did great, Sasuke! Let's train harder together and get even stronger!"

But Sasuke's smile faded, replaced by a look of frustration and determination. From that day on, Sasuke's training intensified, his demeanour growing colder and more focused. The loss had sparked something within him, driving him to surpass Naruto at all costs.

Naruto blinked, the memory fading as he looked up at Sasuke standing over him. He realized then that winning wasn't everything. His friendship and the bonds he had formed were more important to him. For a moment, he decided to let it happen. He closed his eyes and accepted the defeat, a small smile forming on his lips.

The referee's whistle blew, signalling the end of the match. Sasuke was declared the winner, and the stadium erupted in applause and cheers. Breathing heavily, Naruto extended a hand to Sasuke, who accepted it with a nod of respect. Despite the intensity of their rivalry, there was no animosity between them, only a shared understanding of the effort and dedication it took to reach this level.

As they left the ring, both fighters approached their sensei's. Jiraiya patted Naruto on the back, a proud smile on his face. "You did well, Naruto. You'll get him next time."

Naruto nodded, a determined glint in his eyes. "Thanks, Jiraiya-sensei. I won't give up."

Fugaku placed a hand on Sasuke's shoulder, his stern expression softening slightly. "Well done, Sasuke. You've made me proud."

Sasuke nodded, a rare smile tugging at his lips. "Thank you, "Otōsan."

Naruto had just finished changing back into his street clothes, the adrenaline from the match still coursing through his veins. The locker room was quiet now, a stark contrast to the roaring stadium outside. As he zipped up his jacket, he heard the door creak open behind him. He turned to see Uchiha Itachi, Sasuke's older brother, standing in the doorway.

"Itachi," Naruto greeted, surprised but not entirely shocked. Itachi had always been a quiet presence, observing from the shadows but rarely intervening.

Itachi walked in, his expression as calm and unreadable as ever. "Naruto," he said, his voice smooth and even. "I watched the match. It was impressive."

"Thanks," Naruto replied, rubbing the back of his head with a sheepish grin. "Sasuke was really strong today."

Itachi's eyes bore into Naruto's, and for a moment, there was a heavy silence. Then, Itachi spoke again, his tone more serious. "I know you let him win."

Naruto's eyes widened, and he opened his mouth to protest, but Itachi raised a hand to stop him. "You don't need to deny it. I've known you and Sasuke for a long time. I saw what happened out there."

Naruto's shoulders slumped slightly, and he let out a sigh. "I didn't let him win," he said, though there was little conviction in his voice. "Sasuke earned it."

Itachi nodded slowly, his gaze never leaving Naruto's. "I respect you a lot, Naruto. You've always been there for Sasuke, pushing him to be better. You've done more for him than you realize."

Naruto grinned, but it was tinged with sadness. "Well, we are best friends. It's what we do for each other."

Itachi's expression softened, a rare sight. "Thank you, Naruto. For everything. You've been a good friend to Sasuke, and you've helped him become the fighter he is today."

Naruto felt a lump form in his throat. He forced a smile, trying to keep his emotions in check. "Thanks, Itachi. That means a lot coming from you."

The two stood in silence for a moment, the weight of their words hanging in the air. Finally, Itachi broke the silence. "I heard you're leaving for America tomorrow."

Naruto nodded, his smile fading. "Yeah. My mother has a house over there, but it's hard, you know? After everything that's happened."

Itachi placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder, a rare gesture of affection. "You'll always have a home here, Naruto. And I know you'll do great things, wherever you go. Kushina and Minato would be proud of you."

Naruto nodded, swallowing hard. "Thanks, Itachi. I'll miss you guys. All of you."

Itachi gave a small nod, then turned to leave. Just before he walked out the door, he paused and looked back at Naruto. "Take care of yourself, Naruto. And remember, the bonds you make here will always be a part of you."

Naruto watched as Itachi left, the door closing softly behind him, leaving Naruto to remember the last night he saw his family alive.

The scene shifted to a time a few years earlier. Naruto was returning home from school, his backpack slung over one shoulder. He was excited to tell his parents about his day, particularly a new move he had perfected in karate practice.

As he approached his house, he noticed something was wrong. The front door was ajar, and there were strange sounds coming from inside. Naruto's heart pounded in his chest as he cautiously stepped inside, his instincts telling him something was terribly wrong.

In the living room, he saw his parents, Minato and Kushina, being held at gunpoint by two masked robbers. The robbers were shouting, demanding money and valuables. His father, Minato, was trying to keep calm, while his mother, Kushina, looked terrified but defiant.

"Tou-chan Kaa-san!" Naruto shouted, rushing forward instinctively.

"Naruto, no!" Minato cried out, his voice filled with panic. "Stay back!"

One of the robbers turned, pointing the gun at Naruto. In the chaos, Naruto tried to use his karate skills to disarm the man, but he was too young, too inexperienced. The struggle was brief and brutal. The first shot rang out, striking Minato in the chest. He fell to the ground, gasping for breath, blood pooling around him.

" Tou-chan!" Naruto screamed, his heart breaking at the sight.

Kushina's eyes widened with horror and fury. "Don't you dare touch my son!" she yelled, trying to shield Naruto with her body.

The second robber, his nerves frayed, fired again. The bullet hit Kushina, and she collapsed beside Minato, her hand reaching out to him in a final, desperate gesture of love.

" Kaa-san!, no!" Naruto cried, dropping to his knees between his parents, tears streaming down his face.

Kushina's eyes fluttered open one last time. "Naruto... be strong... we love you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Minato's hand found Naruto's, squeezing it weakly. "Protect... your future... son," he managed to say before his eyes closed for the last time.

The robbers, realizing the severity of their actions, fled the scene, leaving Naruto alone with the lifeless bodies of his parents. The silence that followed was deafening, broken only by Naruto's heart wrenching sobs.

Naruto blinked, the memory fading, he took a deep breath, steeling himself for the goodbyes he would have to say. Tomorrow, he would be leaving for America, stepping into a new world and new challenges. But tonight, he would cherish the moments he had left with his friends, knowing that no matter where he went, they would always be a part of him.

Naruto walked out of the locker room, his mind heavy with thoughts of the future. He made his way through the bustling corridors of the stadium, nodding and smiling at familiar faces. Everyone seemed to want to congratulate him on his performance, even though he hadn't won. But all Naruto could think about was the upcoming farewell.

He found Jiraiya waiting for him near the exit, a proud but sad smile on his face. "You ready to head out, Naruto?" the older man asked.

Naruto nodded. "Yeah, I guess so. Just have a few people I need to say goodbye to."

Jiraiya placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder. "You'll be fine, kid. Just remember everything I've taught you."

"I will, Jiraiya-sensei. Thanks for everything."

They walked out of the stadium together, the night air cool against their skin. Naruto's thoughts were a whirlwind of memories and emotions as they made their way to a small restaurant where his friends were waiting for him. The place was a favourite hangout spot, filled with warmth and laughter, and it was the perfect place for one last gathering.

Inside, the atmosphere was lively. Shikamaru, Choji, Ino, Kiba, Hinata, and the others were already there, waiting for him. They greeted him with cheers and hugs, filling the room with a bittersweet energy.

"Naruto, over here!" shouted Kiba, waving him over to their table.

Naruto grinned and joined them, taking a seat between Hinata and Shikamaru. "Hey, everyone. Thanks for coming."

"We wouldn't miss it," said Shikamaru, his usual laid-back demeanour tinged with a hint of sadness. "It's not every day one of us heads off to a different continent."

Hinata smiled shyly at Naruto, her cheeks slightly pink. "We'll all miss you, Naruto."

"Yeah, who's going to keep us entertained with their crazy antics?" Choji added, laughing.

Naruto chuckled, trying to keep the mood light. "You guys will be just fine without me. But don't worry, I'll keep in touch."

As the night went on, they shared stories, laughed, and reminisced about the good times they had shared. Naruto felt a mix of happiness and sorrow, knowing that he was leaving behind his closest friends but also excited about the new opportunities ahead.

Near the end of the night, as everyone was getting ready to leave, Sasuke approached Naruto. There was a rare, genuine smile on his face. "Naruto, I wanted to say... thank you. For everything."

Naruto smiled back, feeling a deep sense of gratitude and friendship. "No need to thank me, Sasuke. Just promise me you'll keep getting stronger. And take care of everyone here."

"I will," Sasuke replied, a determined look in his eyes. "You take care of yourself over there, and show them what you're made of."

Naruto nodded, feeling a renewed sense of purpose. "I will. See you around, Sasuke."

As the group dispersed, Naruto took one last look around the restaurant, committing the faces and the place to memory. Tomorrow, he would be on a plane to America with Jiraiya, but tonight, he was home, surrounded by the people he loved.

The next morning, Naruto stood at the airport, his bags packed and his heart heavy with mixed emotions. Jiraiya stood beside him, a comforting presence.

"Ready, Naruto?" Jiraiya asked.

Naruto took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah, I'm ready."

As they handed over their boarding passes and walked through the gate, Naruto couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and sadness. He was leaving behind everything he had known, but he was also moving towards a new future, one that his parents had hoped for him.

With one last look back, Naruto walked through the gate with Jiraiya by his side, stepping into a new chapter of his life.

Naruto and Jiraiya finally arrived in Encino, a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. The journey had been long, and Naruto felt a mix of fatigue and anticipation as they drove through the quiet streets. The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden glow over the suburban landscape. Jiraiya navigated the car through the winding roads until they reached their destination: a large, impressive house that stood out even in this affluent area.

The house was quite big, with a well maintained lawn and an inviting front porch. Naruto took a deep breath as he stepped out of the car, looking up at the place that held so many distant memories. This house had always felt somewhat foreign to him, a place his mother stayed while she worked overseas. He had only visited a few times during his childhood, and each visit had been fleeting.

"Here we are," Jiraiya said, stretching as he got out of the car. "Your family's house in Encino. It's a beautiful place, Naruto."

Naruto nodded, feeling a wave of nostalgia mixed with sadness. "Yeah, it is. I just wish it didn't feel so... empty."

They walked up to the front door, and Naruto fumbled with the keys his mother had left him. With a click, the door swung open, and they stepped inside. The interior was spacious and elegantly decorated, a stark contrast to the modest home in Japan where Naruto had grown up. As he looked around, Naruto noticed various old photos lining the walls and shelves.

One picture caught his eye, a photo of him as a toddler, sitting on his mother's lap with a wide grin, his father standing proudly beside them. Naruto picked up the frame, tracing his fingers over the glass.

"You were a cute kid," Jiraiya remarked with a smile, peering over Naruto's shoulder. "It's good to remember the happy times."

Naruto nodded, his eyes lingering on the photo. "Yeah... I just wish we had more of them."

They continued to explore the house, each room revealing more memories. There were pictures of Naruto's mother, Kushina, working at her desk, and his father, Minato, tinkering with various projects. It was clear that they had loved this place, even if it had only been a temporary home for them.

As they moved through the house, Jiraiya opened a door to a spare room and stepped inside. "Naruto, come take a look at this."

Naruto followed him into the room and his eyes widened in surprise. The room was set up as a small dojo, complete with mats on the floor, training equipment, and a wall lined with karate belts and trophies. There were photos of Kushina practicing karate, her form and technique captured perfectly in each shot.

"This was your mother's dojo," Jiraiya said softly. "She must have spent a lot of time here."

Naruto felt a lump in his throat as he looked around the room. "Yeah, she always loved karate. I guess it runs in the family."

They spent the rest of the evening settling in, unpacking their belongings and making the house feel more like a home. Later that night, Naruto turned on the TV and flicked through the channels, eventually stopping on the local news. A segment about the All Valley Karate Championship caught his attention.

"...and in an exciting finale, the All Valley Championship ended with the winner named Miguel Diaz," the news anchor reported. "Diaz, representing the Cobra Kai dojo, showcased impressive skill and determination, securing the victory for his team."

Jiraiya, who had been rummaging through the kitchen, walked over and sat beside Naruto. "Looks like this place has some competition," he remarked with a grin.

Naruto shrugged, his focus more on his future plans. "Maybe. But my main focus is on future colleges. I need to make sure I have a solid plan for the future."

Jiraiya shook his head, placing a hand on Naruto's shoulder. "Naruto, you're still a kid. You need to have some fun too. Karate has always been a big part of your life. Don't forget to enjoy your childhood."

Naruto sighed, leaning back into the couch. "I guess you're right, but I still have to think about the future."

The name "Cobra Kai" lingered in Naruto's mind as he sat there, watching highlights from the tournament and seeing the fierce determination in Miguel Diaz's eyes, Naruto felt a spark of excitement. Maybe Jiraiya was right. Maybe this new place had more to offer than just a fresh start. There was a whole new world of competition, camaraderie, and growth waiting for him.

"Alright, Jiraiya-sensei," Naruto said with a grin. "Let's see what this place has to offer. Maybe I'll check out this Cobra Kai dojo."

Jiraiya chuckled, ruffling Naruto's hair. "That's the spirit, kid. Let's see how these American dojos stack up against our skills. "As they settled in for the night after a long journey.

The night was calm and quiet, with the soft chirping of crickets providing a soothing backdrop. Naruto lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, his mind restless with thoughts of the future. Despite the long journey and the emotional weight of the day, sleep eluded him. He glanced at the clock on his nightstand, it was past midnight.

Unable to lie still any longer, Naruto quietly slipped out of bed and made his way downstairs. The house was dark, but he moved with familiarity, his steps guided by the dim moonlight filtering through the windows. As he reached the door to his mother's dojo, he paused, his hand resting on the doorknob. Taking a deep breath, he turned the handle and stepped inside.

The dojo was just as they had left it earlier, filled with the echoes of Kushina's training and the presence of her dedication. Naruto closed the door behind him and stood in the centre of the room, feeling a sense of calm wash over him. This space, with its carefully arranged equipment and the trophies that marked his mother's achievements, was a sanctuary.

Naruto took off his shirt and tied a headband around his forehead, a habit he had picked up from his father. He moved to the centre of the dojo, where the mats were laid out, and stood still for a moment, his eyes closed. He took a deep breath, centring himself and letting the memories of his parents guide him.

He began with the basics, going through the katas that his mother had taught him. Each movement was precise and fluid, a testament to the years of training he had undergone. His muscles moved with practiced ease, his mind focusing solely on the rhythm and flow of his style, Shotokan karate.

As he trained, he could almost hear his mother's voice, offering gentle corrections and encouragement. "Remember, Naruto, every movement should be deliberate and powerful. Focus your energy, and let it flow through your entire body."

Naruto continued to move, his body becoming a blur of motion as he transitioned from one form to the next. He could feel the presence of his father as well, guiding him with silent strength. "Precision, Naruto. Every strike, every block must be executed with precision."

The room seemed to come alive with the energy of his movements. The shadows on the walls danced and shifted, echoing the discipline and passion that his mother had poured into her training. Naruto's breathing became steady and controlled, his mind clearing of all distractions.

Suddenly, the dojo door creaked open. Naruto paused, looking over his shoulder to see Jiraiya standing in the doorway, a proud smile on his face.

"Couldn't sleep either, huh?" Jiraiya asked, stepping into the room.

Naruto shook his head. "I just felt like I needed to train, to clear my mind."

Jiraiya nodded approvingly. "Your parents would be proud, Naruto. Mind if I join you?"

"Not at all, Jiraiya-sensei," Naruto replied with a grin.

Jiraiya moved to the centre of the dojo, standing opposite Naruto. "Let's see what you've got, kid. Show me your stance."

Naruto assumed his fighting stance, feet planted firmly on the mat, fists raised. Jiraiya circled him, examining his form. "Not bad, but you can improve your balance. Widen your stance a bit, and lower your centre of gravity."

Naruto adjusted his stance, feeling the difference as his balance improved. "Like this?"

"Exactly," Jiraiya said. "Now, let's work on your footwork. Speed is important, but so is control. You need to be able to move quickly and precisely."

They spent the next hour working on various techniques and forms. Naruto, already well-versed in many advanced moves, demonstrated his skill with precision and agility. Jiraiya offered tips on refining his technique and pushing his limits further. Despite the late hour, Naruto felt energized and focused, soaking up Jiraiya's wisdom.

"Remember, Naruto," Jiraiya said as they took a short break, "karate isn't just about physical strength. It's about discipline, strategy, and mental fortitude. Your mind needs to be as sharp as your fists."

Naruto nodded, wiping sweat from his brow. "Got it, sensei. I'll keep that in mind."

As they resumed their training, Jiraiya introduced Naruto to a few unconventional techniques, blending elements from different martial arts styles. "These moves aren't typical in Shotokan, but they can give you an edge in unexpected situations."

Naruto practiced the new techniques, feeling a sense of excitement as he expanded his repertoire. The dojo echoed with the sound of their movements, a testament to their dedication and the bond they shared.

Finally, after hours of intense training, they both stood in the centre of the dojo, breathing heavily but with satisfied smiles on their faces. Jiraiya clapped a hand on Naruto's shoulder. "You've got a lot of potential, kid. Keep pushing yourself, and you'll do great things."

Naruto looked around the dojo, feeling a deep sense of connection to his parents and his sensei. "Thanks, Jiraiya-sensei. For everything."

Jiraiya nodded, a proud look in his eyes. "Let's call it a night. We've got a big day ahead of us."

Naruto raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued. "What do you mean?"

Jiraiya smirked. "Tomorrow, we've got to get you inducted into your new school."

Naruto groaned, rolling his eyes. "Great," he said with heavy sarcasm. "Just what I needed."

Jiraiya chuckled, ruffling Naruto's hair. "It's all part of the experience, kid. You'll be fine. Besides, it's a good way to meet new people and start making friends."

Naruto shrugged, not entirely convinced but willing to give it a shot. "I guess. As long as they have a decent karate program, I might survive."

Jiraiya laughed. "That's the spirit. Now, let's get some rest. We've got a long day ahead of us."

They turned off the lights and left the dojo, the room settling into a peaceful silence. As they made their way upstairs, Naruto felt a renewed sense of purpose and determination.

As Naruto lay back in bed, exhaustion finally overtook him. His muscles ached pleasantly from the workout, and his mind was clear. With the knowledge that he had honoured his parents and their teachings, and with Jiraiya by his side, Naruto finally drifted off to sleep, ready to face whatever the future held.

So, what did everyone think?

There aren't many crossovers with Cobra Kai & Naruto.

After watching the show, I thought, why not give it a go? :)

No powers at all, just straight hands.

Thanks for reading.
