AN: Thank you savethemadscientist for all your reviews and advice. And a thank you to everyone who has been reading, this story is probably the longest thing I've ever written and I've found myself falling in love with writing. I used to be put off from writing due to having moderate support needs, autism, and dyslexia. But at 25 I thought let's do it, after having a very wacky Doctor Who dream and reading fan fiction since I was 13. I wanted a character that I could somewhat relate to a again thank you to everyone who has supported me so far.

The Deserter And The Conman

A few days had passed since Drannor's trip with The Doctor and they had picked up Rose, who was more than happy to start traveling again.

They were currently all in the console room of the Tardis, The Doctor was running around madly pulling leavers and switches, while Drannor and Rose were clinging onto the railings for dear life. The Doctor had picked up a strange alien object going past them and heading straight for Earth, for the dead center of London. The only problem was that this object kept switching over timelines frantically.

"I've almost got it!" The Doctor exclaimed as the console started to spark and landed with a large bang throwing them all to the floor. Rose landed on her bum, Drannor tumbled and fell down some of the Tardis stairs and the Doctor fell over against the captain's chair. "Is everyone alright?" The Doctor spoke with some concern.

Rose slowly got up rubbing her backside. "Yeah, I'm fine, just a bit sore." She then looked next to her and frowned finding that Drannor had disappeared. "Drannor?"

"I'm okay!" He shouted from the bottom of the stairs, he'd landed with his back on the floor and his legs on the steps. A groan left him and he started to try and get himself up, which was rather difficult due to the position he was in but luckily Rose ran down the steps to help him.

Once he and Rose had gotten back up the stairs The Doctor was waiting for them by the door, ready to go. "Come on, nearly tracked the object down dead on, only a month or so behind." He grinned at his two companions.

Rose and Drannor looked at each other sharing a smirk and a chuckle.

The Doctor frowned and looked between them both. "What?"

"Nothing," Drannor said dismissively and Rose grinned cheekily.

"What is it?" The Doctor asked again this time starting to get frustrated at the two since he had no idea what was so amusing.

Rose giggled, "We should tell him."

"Tell me what?" The Doctor said sounding exasperated with the two.

Drannor chuckled softly then looked from Rose to The Doctor. "I told Rose about how you were meant to take me to a pirate ship and then went way off course, then she bet me that the next trip you'd probably crash the Tardis and go off course. I thought you'd only go of course so I now owe her some fish and chips."

The Doctor looked between them both, his cheeks and the tips of his ears going red. "I didn't crash, this was a tactical landing."

"I think my back and Rose's butt disagrees with that." Drannor crossed his arms a teasing smirk on his lips.

Rose nodded in agreement. "Definitely a crash and off track by a month."

The Doctor huffed and rolled his eyes. "Right enough of that you two, we've got work to do." He walked out of the Tardis, Rose, and Drannor following him. "All I need to do now is find out where it landed, I'm sure someone will know."

Rose looked at the Doctor then. "Can't you just scan for alien tech like in Star Trek?"

The Doctor paused for a moment and looked at her appalled. "What's with you humans and bloody Star Trek? I'll just ask, big thing crashing down to earth, in the middle of London someone would have ought to have noticed." He tutted and went through a door in the side of the alleyway they were in.

Drannor chuckled softly. "I'm sure he only said that because he's grumpy that you thought of it first."

Rose nodded and laughed. "He's like a big overgrown baby sometimes, with how stubborn he is."

Drannor nodded in agreement and smiled but then froze, he could hear a child's voice in the distance. "Rose, can you hear that?" he whispered to her softly.

Rose stopped laughing and listened closely

.

"Helloo, Mummy? Mummy, where are you? I'm scared Mummy." A little boy's voice called out into the night.

Drannor looked around and then paused as he saw a child on the top of a tall building next to them. "Rose, go get The Doctor and tell him where I am, I'm going to go up and bring that child down before he gets hurt." He spoke quickly as he kept his eyes on the child and tightly tied up his hair so that it would stay out of his face whilst climbing.

Rose nodded, "I'll tell him, just please be careful yeah?"

Drannor shot Rose a smile. "Don't worry, I'm used to climbing and all that, I'll be fine."

He watched as Rose ran off into the building and he looked up at the child who was calling out again. Drannor wasted no time in starting to climb the wall, "Wait there! Sweetheart!, I'm coming to help."

Drannor continued to climb by the time he got to the ledge the boy was originally on, the boy had somehow gotten onto the Roof. Without thinking Drannor grabbed a nearby Rope and started to climb it, he was close to the little boy now and then the rope suddenly shifted. "Shit" Drannor muttered and tightened his grip on the rope before finally thinking to look up to see what it was attached to.

"Oh Gods I'm an idiot." He muttered as he stared up at the blimp and then watched as the child with the gas mask walked off again. "Great, just great. I'm clinging to a blimp in the middle of London. Judging by that, the gas mask and the style of clothing it's World War II currently. At least The Doctor's history lessons have paid off."

Drannor looked down briefly and paled slightly at how far the drop was, He wasn't afraid of heights normally but the long fall to the streets below started to make his hands clammy. "All I have to do is hold on to the rope, I've done this loads of times in training." He continued to mutter to himself. "It's not that bad."

He realized as he'd spoken, he'd done so far too soon. Sirens started to blare loudly into the night and search lights came on all around him. Drannor assumed it was an air raid siren, he was just hoping and praying now that it was a false alarm. His hopes were soon dashed as he saw German planes heading right towards him. He squeezed his eyes shut tight and let himself slide down the rope to avoid any chance of coming into contact with the planes.

Drannor's hands burned and stung now from the rope but he kept his grip tight. Suddenly there was a bright spotlight on him and a voice, with an accent somewhat foreign to him. "Relax you can let go now I've got you."

The elf slowly opened his eyes to see a large flying craft just above him, it was what was shining the light down onto him, Drannor also realized now that he had a bizarre feeling of weightlessness. So he let go of the rope. "You'd better not drop me!" He called out.

"Wouldn't dream of it sweet cheeks, now please just keep your arms and legs together and inside the beam," The voice spoke and Drannor made sure to have his arms and legs tucked in.

With a flash of bright light, Drannor felt himself fall slightly into a pair of strong arms. He felt sick and to top it off a stranger was holding him, so he quickly wriggled out of the man's grasp.

He stood and stumbled for a moment, in a woozy state Drannor finally looked at the man's face and perfect smile. "Wow, not bad." He mumbled before quickly passing out.

Captain Jack managed to catch the strange man as he passed out. "There we go." He muttered as he picked up Drannor and laid him on his small bed before going back to the captain's chair. Judging by the out-of-place clothes, Jack assumed he'd bagged himself a time agent. He looked back at the other man and frowned softly, something seemed familiar about him but he just couldn't place it.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Drannor huffed softly as he opened his eyes and slowly sat up. He'd been passed out for half an hour.

Jack came over and crouched by the bed. "Here, have some water. You'll feel better in a bit, first time in a transmat beam is always a bit rough."

Drannor looked at the handsome man and took the glass of water, slowly sipping it. "Thanks for saving me, pretty sure I'd be a mess on the street below by now if you hadn't spotted me, I'm Drannor by the way." He kept his voice even, this man was dead gorgeous in every sense of the word. But Drannor had been burnt before and preferred to try and keep away from Romantic affairs, well he tried to. But he supposed a small amount of healthy flirting wouldn't hurt, as long as he kept his guard up.

Jack smiled. "You're welcome, names Jack Harkness by the way, Captain Jack Harkness at your service."

"Ah, a Captain?" Drannor smiled but inwardly his stomach turned as he thought of Captain Hadir and how charming he'd been to him at one point as well. He also felt as if he recognized the man in front of him, a younger version perhaps? Or just a man that looks similar to him. "Well, I best be off, I need to catch up with my friends...Do you know about an object falling from the sky about a month ago? not a bomb."

"Yeah it's a Chula warship and I know exactly where it is. I'll be willing to sell it to you, I'm sure the time agency would love it." Jack stood and leaned back a cocky smile on his face.

Time agency? Drannor thought to himself. The Doctor hasn't taught me anything about that, but if this man thinks we're from that organization maybe we can get our hands on it. "Right to business then?" He pushed himself off the bed and winced slightly in pain from his rope-burned hands. He looked down at them a soft frown on his lips. The rope burn must have been much worse than he'd realised as his body hadn't healed it yet.

Jack noticed that the man was injured and he held out his hands to him. "May I?"

Drannor hesitated for a moment but slowly put his hands into Jack's. He watched as the Captain handled his injuries with such care and gentleness as he inspected them. Perhaps before, when he was younger Draenor would have swooned at this and immediately trusted the man. But Drannor was no longer so innocent and naive. He didn't swoon over Jack but became more on edge wondering what the man wanted from him.

"Keep your hands completely still, this won't take a second," Jack spoke softly as he pressed a button releasing a glowing gold dust, it covered Drannor's hands and made them warm up and tingle.

Drannor watched the gold dust and his eyebrows raised as it instantly healed him before dissipating. "That's interesting, what were they?"

"Nano jeans, they're tiny little robots that can patch up and fix nearly any injuries." Jack smiled and let go of Drannor's hands. "Anyway back to business. I think we could do with being more comfortable whilst we discuss, follow me."

Jack lead Drannor up through a hatch and onto the roof of the ship. Drannor assumed that it was the ship he was standing on anyway. He couldn't see it so he stayed perfectly still where he was, trying not to look down. He watched as Jack went back down the hatch again before coming up with a champagne bottle and two glasses.

"I always prefer to do my business with a beautiful view, a good drink, and of course the perfect company." Jack winked at Drannor, trying to charm him, he had to get this man to trust him. Little did Jack know that Drannor was thinking the exact same thing.

"You remind me of someone that said that to me in a tavern once, So only drinks? Nothing more?" Drannor teased back but kept glancing at the non-existent floor below him.

Jack took a remote out of his pocket and pressed a button on it, causing the ship under Drannor's feet to appear, Drannor couldn't hide his sigh of relief. "Sorry, I forgot that most people aren't used to not seeing what they're walking on." Jack smiled and Drannor strolled over to him.

It was starting to annoy Drannor now as he tried to think of who this human man reminded him of. First, he had thought of Captain Hadir, but it wasn't him he was reminded of. He could remember a young and flirty human man in a tavern, with the same dark hair and blue eyes, usually Drannor would dismiss the similarities, but now he knew of time travel so there was a chance this was the same man that had just time traveled. He continued to stare at Jack's face, trying to put a name to the man.

Jack poured two glasses of champagne and handed one out to Drannor. "I know I'm handsome but if you keep looking at me like that you're going to burn a hole through me."

"The Face Of Boe." Drannor suddenly blurted out, the man's, name or at least code name coming to him.

Suddenly hearing his code name Jack paused and stared at Drannor. "I haven't been called that in a while...How do you know me?" His mind was racing trying to place Drannor's face but he just couldn't perhaps Drannopr was a part of the two years of memories he had lost.

"It is you then." Drannor smiled and became slightly more at ease, if he remembered correctly Jack had been a regular at a local tavern for a few weeks until one day he just stopped coming. At the time Drannor was 260 years old and went to the Taven regularly to try and have a break from Hadir, Jack from what he could remember was a massive flirt and had tried getting him, into bed with him a few times, and nearly succeeded.

"We met at a tavern in a city called Bronze Dracul. You spent the whole time trying to get me and my friend into your bed, said if I wanted you could kill the person that kept giving me bruises."

And told me you were a very good con artist so you could con him for me, Drannor thought and decided to leave that part out.

Jack tried desperately to remember but he just couldn't. "Sorry, I've had two years of my memories taken from me, does sound like me though and it's a good thing to know my tastes haven't changed." He chuckled and winked at Drannor trying to cover how much his missing memory affected him emotionally.

Drannor put down his champagne glass on the top of the ship. "So how about an old friend's discount for me?" He teased and took Jack's hand in his.

Jack smiled. "It can be arranged, tell me how much you think a Chula warship is worth first."

"Unfortunately I'm not the one that deals with the finances, The Doctor, my boss deals with all that, he's somewhere in London. Now if we can find him, I'm sure he'll be very interested in making a deal." Drannor looked up at Jack.

"Sounds like a plan, I'll scan for alien tech," Jack said fiddling with the device on his wrist and Drannor thought in amusement how Rose would love this man.

"While we wait how about some dancing," Jack smirked flirtatiously at Drannor as he pressed a button on his remote causing slow waltz music to start playing around them.

Drannor hadn't heard this type of music before, he was much more used to faster dances and jaunts played at the taverns. So Drannor let Jack lead the dance as he wrapped his arms around the taller man's neck and stood close to him.

He could remember what Jack had been like more so now, his memories becoming stronger. "You know you smell very good when you're not covered in Ale, it's an improvement." He teased.

Jack chuckled and pulled Drannor closer to him as they span. "You said that I tried to get you into my bed, did I not succeed?" He spoke more softly now, he was intrigued, not many people would turn him down, especially if he was the one doing the pursuing.

"Not once, I was tempted I won't lie." Drannor chuckled softly as he watched a glint of glee in Jack's eyes.

"Well, how about I tempt you again? A bit of fun before work starts?" Jack winked at Drannor and moved his face close to his.

Drannor's cheeks flushed as he felt Jack's breath ghosting against his lips. Oh, and Drannor was tempted, a bit of harmless fun sounded good. "Perhaps." He spoke slightly breathlessly.

Jack pressed his lips to Drannor's then and Drannor kissed back, melting against him. After a few short moments, Jack pulled back a dust of a blush on his own cheeks. "How about I show you how good I am at the other type of dancing?" He whispered.

Drannor instantly paled, almost the exact same words had been said to him by Captain Hadir, he also thought that would be some harmless fun but it wasn't, that moment of weakness had cost him dearly. This had to stop now. He quickly stepped away from Jack almost falling in his haste to get away.

Jack gently caught Drannor by his arm and concern filled him as he saw the fear in Drannor's eyes. "Hey, it's alright. We don't have to do anything. Are you okay?" Once he was sure that Drannor wasn't about to fall over he let go.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine. Just some bad memories" Drannor spoke softly his voice quivering as he tried to pull himself back together, then he noticed Jack's expression take an even more worried turn that also contained guilt. Drannor quickly waved his hands. "It's nothing about you, don't worry. sorry I shouldn't have led you on."

Jack walked closer slowly, then gently put his hands on Drannor's shoulders looking into his eyes. "You've got nothing to apologize for, I'm not exactly innocent either...Let's find your friends, the scans should be done by now." He gave a soft smile. Drannor's reaction had initially worried him greatly, he'd thought that in the Past perhaps he had done something awful to the elf in front of him.

Drannor gave a nod and a slight smile. "Yep, they'll think I've gotten myself killed... And I'm going to have such a headache from The Doctor, going on about wandering off."

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Jack's scans had led them to a hospital building. Jack led the way and Drannor followed behind, something didn't feel right. Drannor didn't have hospitals yet on his planet but he had a feeling from the descriptions The Doctor gave him, that they shouldn't be this quiet, and surely there should be some staff about. "Where is everyone?" Drannor whispered softly to Jack.

"No idea. But there is definitely something up." Jack spoke back softly as they made their way down one of the long hospital corridors.

Then they heard voices coming from one of the rooms. Drannor immediately knew who the voices belonged to, he ran off into the room, the doors banging open causing Rose and The Doctor to jump and whirl around. Relief filled their faces as Drannor bounded over and pulled Rose into a tight hug. "Told you I'd be fine."

Rose smiled and hugged her friend back just as tightly. "We were dead worried about you, I'm glad you're okay."

Drannor looked over Rose's shoulder and saw The Doctor frowning at him with his arms crossed. He sighed and pulled back from Rose then slowly walked and stood in front of The Doctor. "I know, I know, you're mad at me for going off on my own. But-" He was cut off as The Doctor spoke over him.

"What do you think you were doing?! Theirs an air raid out there not to mention something that's turning people into Gas mask creatures that want their mum, Do you have..." The Doctor trailed off his eyes focused behind him a puzzled expression suddenly on his face. "Who's Captain Flash?"

Drannor turned to see Jack coming in checking the room for danger, holding up his blaster. "Oh, that's, just Jack." He said nonchalantly. "He wants to sell a Chula warship to the time agency." Drannor exsagrated the words time agency slightly hoping The Doctor would catch on.

The Doctor looked at Drannor in confusion "Time agency?" He asked softly and Drannor nodded and gave him a pointed look. "Oh yeah."

Drannor could practically see the light go on behind The Doctor's eyes.

Jack sauntered over as he put his blaster away then he put his arm around Drannor's shoulders. "Going to Introduce me to your good-looking friends then?" He grinned and winked.

Drannor had an amused smirk on his face as Rose looked very much interested in the captain and The Doctor seemed to take an instant dislike to him. "Yes, this is Rose and the grumpy old man next to her is The Doctor."

The Doctor made a sound of protest at being called old and grumpy.

Jack immediately went over to Rose and lifted her hand pressing a soft kiss to it as he smiled flirtatiously. "Drannor's told me a lot about you, forgot to mention how pretty you are though."

Drannor chuckled to himself as he watched Rose smile shyly and her cheeks went all pink as she giggled. The Doctor rolled his eyes and tutted. "Oi enough of that, no flirting."

Rose continued to smile looking dreamily at Jack as Jack spoke. "I'm just saying hello."

"I don't mind Doctor, he can say hello to me all he wants," Rose said flirtatiously as she and Jack smiled at each other.

The Doctor down at Drannor. "Have you seen this? Bloody unbelievable, we've got work to do and they're busy flirting." He then looked over at Jack. "Oi Don Jon, stop flirting, from what I understand we have business to discuss.

Jack winked at Rose then pulled himself away and turned to face The Doctor, he held out his hand. "Captain Jack Harkness at your service."

They shook hands and Jack smiled flirtily at the Doctor.

Drannor held back a chuckle at Jack's shameless flirting but then his smile dropped as he noticed the beds around them were full of people wearing gas masks. "Doctor, why are all the patients wearing gas masks?" Drannor tugged on The Doctor's sleeve to pull his attention away from Jack.

"They're not." The Doctor spoke simply with a frown.

Jack now took notice of the patients. "What do you mean?"

"Scan them. But don't touch or you'll turn into one of them." The Doctor nodded to one of the patients who was wearing an nurses uniform.

Drannor walked over to Jack as he started to scan one of the patients. "This can't be possible, The gas masks are completely fused to their skin, and my scanner is saying that it's organic matter."

"Flesh and Bone, Notice anything else?" The Doctor put his hands into his pockets.

"Yeah, this one's got severe head trauma, and there's a cut on the left hand," Jack said as he studied the former nurse.

"Check another one." The Doctor nodded towards the other bed next to Jack, so Jack checked and then he checked another and another.

Jack looked frantic now he'd checked nearly all of the patients in the room. "How is this possible? Doctor they all have the exact same injuries."

"This all started the same day that ship crashed." The Doctor spoke sternly and Jack paled.

"It's just a coincidence," Jack replied quickly but his confidence was not as strong as before.

"Strange coincidence, the warship crashes, and suddenly, Humans are having their DNA changed." The Doctor raised his eyebrow at Jack daring him to say that it wasn't true, the evidence was all around them in the room.

Drannor was now peering into the eyeholes of the first person Jack scanned. He couldn't help his morbid curiosity to see through the glass lenses of the gas mask, his stomach dropped slightly when he couldn't see anything behind the lenses, just empty black darkness.

The Doctor noticed over Jack's shoulder, Drannor with his face almost pressed up against one of the patient's gas masks "Drannor, stop messing, what would you do if one touched you? Has no one ever told you that curiosity killed the cat?"

Rose sniggered as Drannor pouted like a child being scolded and stood up to his full height. "Satisfaction brought it back though Doctor," Rose said biting her tongue and smiling cheekily.

The Doctor suddenly pointed at Rose. "You stop encouraging him." Then he pointed at Drannor. "And you get over here before you get hurt."

Drannor huffed slightly. "Fine, but I don't see the danger they don't move." He accidentally knocked a bucket with his foot as he went to walk away and suddenly all the patients sat up in unison. Dranor jumped and scrambled his way over to The Doctor as The Doctor pulled Rose towards him.

They all stared at the patients and started to back away as the Gas mask people got out of the beds and started walking toward the group. "Are you my mummy?", "Are you my mummy?" They kept repeating over and over.

"Oh shit, probably a good time for me to apologize for getting us all killed." Drannor rambled as he grabbed Rose's hand and pulled her close to his side.

Jack stood to Drannor's other side and looked at The Doctor. "Any ideas? Doc?" He asked as he took out his blaster, the group was slowly being herded into a corner.

The Doctor suddenly stood straight and with a stern voice spoke. "Go you your room!, I am very cross with you, I'm very upset, go to your room right now!" He pointed in the direction of the beds.

There was a tense moment of silence before all the patient's heads drooped and they made their way back to their beds.

All four of them breathed a sigh of relief as the Doctor turned around grinning.

"How did you know that would work?" Jack asked.

"I didn't" The Doctor replied, grinning like a mad man now. "I'm glad it did though, those would have been terrible last words."

"Especially since there would be no one to hear it and carve it onto your tombstone." Drannor quipped and they all gave a soft chuckle.

The Doctor rubbed his hands together now. "Right let's get moving and go to the boy's room." He strolled out of the room a grin still on his lips.

Drannor let go of Rose's hand and shot her a cheeky wink as he looked between her and Jack before quickly going ahead with The Doctor. He linked his arm with The Doctor's. "So what do you think of the Captain?"

The Doctor briefly looked back at Rose and the Captain who were following them a few paces behind, Rose with her arm through Jack's. "I'm thinking Conman."

Drannor grinned up at The Doctor. "He is one, he doesn't remember this but I met him a long time ago, for me. He confessed to me then that he was a very good con artist. Not good enough to pull the wool over your eyes though."

The Doctor let out a hum in agreement as he began to plan how he'd get Jack to tell him what the warship was. "What's your opinion of him?"

"I don't think he's a cruel person, I think he does genuinely care about people to an extent. Whatever involvement he had in this was probably a mistake." Drannor said as he leaned his head on The Doctor's leather-clad shoulder. He'd been feeling a little bit off ever since he left the Tardis and he was now starting to feel unbearably warm.

The Doctor blushed slightly when Drannor put his head on his shoulder. He looked down at Drannor with a slight smile, Thinking that the elf was just being a bit more affectionate today. But his smile dropped as he saw the sweat on Drannor's brow and how his cheeks were flushed a deep red. "Are you feeling alright?"

"Yeah, just a bit unwell, I've probably caught something." Drannor gave a smile to The Doctor.

The Doctor nodded but was still concerned. He hoped that Drannor wasn't infected by the gas mask people, He wasn't even sure what it would do to another species. "Alright, we'll be back on the Tardis before you know it. Just let me know if you get any more symptoms."

The elf nodded. "Will, do." He moved his head off the doctor as they got to a thick metal door, that was covered in dents, The Doctor patted his pockets looking for his sonic screwdriver, just as he got it out Jack used his sonic blaster to make a square hole in the door where the lock was.

Drannor and Rose sniggered as The Doctor stood there looking rather offended, still holding his sonic screwdriver up. Jack grinned and pushed the door open, holding it for Rose and Drannor as they went inside.

"What's that supposed to be?" The Doctor asked pointing to the blaster.

Jack put the blaster away into its holster. "Sonic blaster, I got it from the factories in Villengard, until some madman blew it up."

The Doctor grinned then. "It's a banana grove now, much better. Bananas are good." He patted Jack's shoulder as he walked past him and into the room that the child was kept in.

Jack followed and Drannor grinned at the Doctor, as he wiped the sweat from his brow away with his sleeve, he'd heard the conversation between The Doctor and Jack. "You blew it up didn't you?"

"Yep, Banana's are good." The Doctor grinned wider and winked at Drannor before pressing play on a tape player.

Drannor's eyes widened as a voice came through the speaker and he stood next to The Doctor looking at the tape player in interest. He found seeing the things he had read about was a lot more interesting when he could see the object working right in front of him. He was mesmerized as he watched the tape go from one reel to the other. He stuck out his finger curiously and tapped it to the side of the fast-moving tape. "Ow," He grumbled as he looked at his finger it had given him a cut, like a paper cut across his finger.

The Doctor listened to the tape with his back to the door. "So the little boy Jamie, Nancy's little brother ends up in the range of the warship. Something happens, he's injured and then it changes his DNA, He's a scared and angry little boy who wants his mother. And judging by the state this room is in, he's got a lot of power."

Drannor frowned as the tape stopped moving but the sound kept playing. "Huh. I thought these ones stopped when the tape ran out." He leaned back and then glanced across the room, both Rose and Drannor spotted the little boy standing at the doorway. Drannor slowly backed up as Rose tried to get The Doctor's attention. "Doctor! Doctor?!"

The Doctor looked at the panic on Rose's face and saw Drannor slowly moving backward away from the tape, which The Doctor realized wasn't running anymore and hadn't been for a few minutes. His eyes widened. "And I just sent it to his room."

Drannor started to look around for a way out. "He's blocking the only exit." He said now going to stand in front of Rose protectively.

Jack pulled out what he thought was his blaster. "I'll cover, you lot run around!"

Drannor couldn't help it as he started laughing, as the Doctor shot a square hole in the wall, Jack looked at the Banana in his hand in confusion, before the four of them quickly ducked through the hole into the hall.

Jack quickly took the blaster from The Doctor and set it to put back the wall. "Nice switch back there by the way, here," He said as he tried to hand the banana back to The Doctor.

The Doctor grinned at Jack. "As I said before, bananas are good. You keep it, never know when you might need one. Good source of potassium and incidentally I got that Banana from the groves in Villengard."

Jack shook his head but gave an amused smile as The Doctor mentioned Villengard.

Suddenly they could hear pounding on the wall from the other side and the wall started to crumble. "Run!" The Doctor shouted as he and Rose started running. Drannor went to follow but he noticed Jack about to throw the banana over his shoulder, he quickly snatched it from Jack. "I'll have that." He spoke and then grabbed Jack's hand as they started to run.

Drannor was starting to struggle to keep up, his breath was coming out now in weezes yet he pushed on. Not wanting to slow down the others or worry them.

They made it down some stairs and ended up on a corridor, they all ran left only to be blocked off by patients filling into the corridor. "Turn around!" The Doctor shouted in panic. The group turned but was met by patients now filling the corridor on the other side. They were trapped.

Drannor panted and coughed, which changed into a cry as the floor suddenly disappeared from under his feet. He hadn't heard Rose's warning when she'd grabbed Jack's blaster and shot the floor below them.

"Damn it!" Drannor groaned as he hit the floor hard, landing on his side.

Jack sealed the ceiling with the blaster and went to rush over to Drannor but Rose and The Doctor had beat him to it.

Rose had a guilty look on her face. "Oh god, I'm really sorry." She spoke as she and The Doctor helped Drannor get back on his feet.

The elf winced and held his side as he stood. "You don't need to apologize, Rose, If you hadn't done that we'd be dead." He smiled at her but Rose still looked concerned as did The Doctor. "Look, I'll be fine, I'm a quick healer." Drannor started to move forward and hid his wince, he knew they needed to keep moving.

The Doctor had noticed the tiny cut on Drannor's finger that still hadn't healed, which was worrying him. He decided at that moment that Drannor was in no shape to be running right now, and something was very wrong, especially with his wheezing. So he scooped Drannor up into his arms. "No complaining, you're walking like an old man." The Doctor spoke quickly ignoring Drannor's protest.

Jack ran ahead now followed by Rose then the Doctor. Drannor wrapped his arms around The Doctor's neck as he was jostled about in the Doctor's arms. He could see that behind The Doctor more people with gasmasks were following behind them. Drannor still had hold of the banana and decided since he wasn't the one running he could eat it.

The Doctor glanced down at the elf in his arms as he ran. Drannor smiled up at him as he bit into the banana. "Really? Drannor. Now is not exactly the time for that."

Drannnor shrugged "I'm doing an important experiment." He stuffed the last part of the banana into his mouth, and as he chewed he threw the empty banana skin onto the ground behind The Doctor. Rose had recently shown Drannor a few cartoons and he wanted to see how realistic they were. If banana skins were actually that slippy.

Turns out they are. Drannor watched as one of the patients slipped, causing the others to fall, in a domino effect. This gave the group fleeing for their lives more time.

Drannor grinned at The Doctor smugly. "In conclusion, Bananas are in fact good, and even when I'm being carried about like a damsel in distress and can barely move, I'm still very useful."

The Doctor shook his head as an amused smile appeared on his lips.

They stopped running once they hit a dead end with a locked door. Jack tried to open it using his blaster but it did nothing. "Damn it, it's out of battery."

Rose looked at Jack then in amusement. "It runs on battery?"

"I was going to get it updated, but someone blew up the factory." Jack looked to The Doctor and The Doctor suddenly shoved Drannor into Jack's arms. Drannor let out a squeak as Jack nearly dropped him before he adjusted his hold on the elf.

The Doctor quickly got out his sonic screwdriver and unlocked the door quickly going inside. Rose followed then Jack, The Doctor quickly shut the door and locked it. "Right that should hold them, now we can leave."

Drannor looked over at The Doctor from Jack's arms, "Sorry to ruin your plan but I don't think there is a way out." He said, his head resting on Jack's chest now. His body felt sore and his limbs were starting to feel like lead weights.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

A good 20 minutes had passed. Jack had put Drannor into an old dusty chair that was in the corner of the room. Rose sat next to Drannor on the floor, trying to keep him entertained by showing him pictures on her phone. "And this was last year at my 18th, I went down to the pub with a few of my mates. Had a great time."

Drannor smiled as he looked at the picture of Rose with her friends. "You look great...Is that Micky asleep in the back there?"

Rose giggled as she nodded. "Yeah, he had too much to drink and ended up falling asleep in the pub. Had to call mum to help me get him back home."

Drannor chuckled softly and looked over at The Doctor, who was still trying to resonate the concrete to remove the iron bars that were across the window. "Rose, do you think he's making the whole resonating concrete thing up? He's been doing it for a while now."

Rose shrugged as The Doctor looked back at them both. "Oi I heard that, I haven't made it up, it's just complicated, so it's taking a while...I see Captain Flash has abandoned ship. A fat lot of help he was."

Drannor looked around and then realized that Jack had Indeed vanished. Then he stiffened as the little boy's voice came through the large, dusty, old radio he was sitting next to. "Mummy? where are you, Mummy?... I'm coming to find you, Mummy...Coming to find you."

He Held Rose's hand as he saw the scared look on her face and his own leg started to bounce.

Suddenly another voice came through the speaker, the voice of Jack. "Hey Doc, can you hear me?"

Rose's eyes lit up then. "Yeah, we can hear you."

"Good, I'm sorry that I couldn't beam you up with me, I only had enough charge for one trip. But if you hold on I'll be able to get you onto my ship." Jack's voice crackled as the little boy's voice came through again. "I'm close mummy, I'm coming."

Jack managed to tune himself in again. "What was that?"

"It was the little boy." The Doctor spoke this time. "He can speak through anything with a speaker inside of it, like oncom."

"I'll see if I can block him out with some music whilst you wait, Remember this one Drannor, our song?" Jack spoke with a slight flirtatious tease to his voice.

The Doctor looked at Drannor in question as Rose grinned in amusement.

"I Just danced with him a bit to this song that's all." Drannor shrugged.

Rose looked at The Doctor cheekily then. "Can you dance Doctor?"

The Doctor leaned against the wall with his arms crossed. "Of course I can dance, You really think, I've managed this long without learning to dance?"

She stood up then. "Dance with me."

The Doctor shook his head. "No, I don't dance."

"I think it's because he can't." Drannor teased and chuckled causing him to go into a fit of coughing for a moment. He can't remember being this unwell before.

Rose walked over to The Doctor, a cheeky smile on her face. "Show me then, because right now it looks like you're bluffing."

He huffed and looked at Rose and Drannor's cheeky expressions. "You both won't give in until I do will you?"

Drannor and Rose grinned at each other as they spoke at the same time. "Nope."

The Doctor rolled his eyes and then begrudgingly put his hand on Rose's waist and started to dance with her, very stiffly.

The elf watching them smiled as he watched his two friends start dancing, He started to relax as he watched them for a few minutes, then suddenly he was on Jack's ship and in Jack's lap. "Took you long enough." He teased.

Jack chuckled and smiled at Drannor before they looked over to Rose and The Doctor still dancing, they hadn't even realized they'd been moved. It was at that moment that Drannor felt a pang of jealousy pull at his heart, If he was with him, would The Doctor have noticed they'd moved? As he watched he realised that Rose and The Doctor had slightly more feelings of that than just friends.

Drannor rested his head on Jack's chest and pulled his eyes away from the dancing couple, he would not let his jealousy get the best of him, all that mattered to him now was that his friends were happy.

Jack glanced down at Drannor noticing the mood change. So decided to be the one to speak up. "You know, usually people notice when they've been transmat beamed."

The Doctor and Rose quickly pulled apart a blush forming on their cheeks as Drannor kept his eyes peeled away, he didn't see the torn look that The Doctor gave him and Rose.

"Jack before we go can you use those nano jean things on me, I've still not healed up," Drannor asked and Jack gave a nod and a smile. "Sure thing."

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

The four of them were currently hidden behind an old rail cart watching the guards patrol the perimeter of where the Chula ship had crashed. Drannor was currently piggybacking on the back of The Doctor. "Why can't you just leave me on the Tardis?" He wined softly.

"Ssh you." The Doctor whispered back, his head slightly turned towards Drannor. "I can't just leave you on your own, we don't know what's wrong with you."

Drannor made a soft huff of annoyance but didn't argue back. They snuck further around the cart once the coast was clear and they froze when they spotted another guard.

Rose smiled then and smoothed out her clothes. "Leave it to me, boys." She went to go to seduce the guard but Jack quickly put a hand on her shoulder. "It won't work, trust me you're not his type."

Jack moved away from Rose then and walked over to the guard, Rose looked dumbfounded and slightly insulted at being called not someone's type. "What's he doing?"

"Dancing." The Doctor and Drannor replied at the same time, Rose looked up at them both in surprise.

"He's a 51st century man. A lot more flexible when it comes to dancing, by his point of time you lot have danced your way through the universe." The Doctor smiled down at Rose in amusement.

"So we travel across the universe just to...you know?" Rose asked and The Doctor nodded. "Dance." He replied.

Drannor looked between Rose and The Doctor. "Does not really surprise me, no offence Rose but your lot breed like rabbits." The elf smiled at Rose cheekily.

Rose then looked at Drannor. "You knew what Jack was doing straight away, Is your planet also more flexible at dancing?"

"Yep, at least elves are. " The elf spoke and went to continue but paused as he looked over at the man Jack was speaking to, the man had doubled over and Jack was calling for help from the other guards.

"It's gotten airborne. Let's go, we haven't got much more time." The Doctor spoke quickly and carried Drannor into the base the army had set up around the crashed ship, Rose following closely behind. The group paused as they heard someone singing a lullaby.

Rose looked over at the tent that the humming was coming from. "Is that Nancy?"

The Doctor nodded and they crept up to the tent. Looking inside they saw Nancy handcuffed to a table as she sang to a sleeping soldier that had been infected.

Nancy caught The Doctor's eye and he gestured for her to keep singing. He kept one arm wrapped around Drannor's legs as he grabbed his sonic screwdriver with the other, causing the cuffs to click open. Nancy quickly pulled her hand out of the cuffs as she kept singing until she got out of the tent.

"What are you doing here?" Rose asked. Nancy looked at Rose and The Doctor, looking confused for a moment as she eyed the odd-looking man on The Doctor's back. "I want to find out what happened to my brother here and before you say anything Doctor, I know it's dangerous but I don't care. This is important to me, Jamie is important to me" She said determinedly.

The Doctor merely nodded, he could see in young Nancy's eyes that she would not budge on the matter, she held a mother's determination to protect her young.

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Drannor was currently leaning against the crashed ship as the Doctor tried to get it open, everyone who had been infected was now waiting silently at the gates, finally, the Doctor got it open.

Jack had caught up with them and now watched The Doctor. "I told you Doc, there's nothing in there, it's just a harmless piece of space junk."

"It's not empty though is it?" The Doctor suddenly took Drannor hand's and looked them over remembering what he could about nano jeans. "It was a medical ship...full to the brim with nano jeans, you need a lot to keep a whole army fighting. It crashes here and the hull is breached, so they leave and it just so happens that a little boy, wearing a gas mask was caught in the blast of the crash. They know he's injured but they've never seen a human before, so they do their best, not sure what's a mask and what is skin. Then once they've done their work they spread out because now they think they know what a human is and there's a whole world of what they think are sick humans.

Jack's eyes widened in realization. "Oh god, what have I done?" He leaned back against the ship deep in thought.

Suddenly the patients breached the fences and started moving towards them. "Right Nancy, You need to tell little Jamie the truth about who his mum is." The Doctor spoke looking down at Nancy who paled.

"I-I don't know what you're on about." She spoke quickly.

"Yes you do, you're older than you look, Nancy, old enough to have a child. You need to tell him, and if we're really lucky you might just save the world." The Doctor looked into her eyes and then gestured towards the little boy who was only a few feet away from them now.

Nancy took a deep breath her eyes starting to fill with tears as she slowly walked up to Jamie who was still asking for his mummy. She knelt and held the small boy's shoulders, looking into where his eyes should be. "I am your mummy Jamie. I'm your mummy and I always will be." Tears fell down her cheeks now as she pulled Jamie into a tight hug.

Drannor moved to stand next to the Doctor as nano jeans on mass surrounded Jamie and Nancy. He could hear The Doctor muttering to himself. "Come on, come on, cleaver little nano jeans. She's the mother, she has the right DNA."

The elf reached out and grabbed The Doctor's hand squeezing it before letting go. Drannor found the way the nano jeans lit everything like millions of fireflies, beautiful.

Once the nano jeans left the Doctor rushed over to Jamie and took hold of the front of the mask, starting to pull it off. "Come on just give me this one good thing." He pulled the mask off Jamie and then cried out in joy as he lifted the boy into his arms bouncing him. "Welcome back! Only a few years to pop music now and you're going to love it!" The little boy giggled at the excited Doctor as the Doctor smiled gleefully.

Drannor sniffled as he started to tear up when The Doctor handed Jamie back to his mother who was sobbing in joy at having her son back to her, she peppered him with kisses. The whole thing was touching but as Rose pointed out, what about the others?

The Doctor grinned and lifted his hands letting the nano jeans pool around them. "You both wanted to see some moves? Well, watch this!" He turned and flung his hands in the direction of the infected and the nano jeans swarmed to put the human race back to rights, people immediately started pulling off the gas masks and looking around in confusion. "And Just this once, everybody lives!" The Doctor cheered and smiled brightly.

Tears fell down Drannor's cheeks as he watched the scene before him, it was divine. So much hope and life restored in one place so quickly. Rose wrapped Drannor into a hug tearing up a bit as she smiled herself. But the warm happy atmosphere soon fled as Jack looked at The Doctor. "Doc there's a problem, there's still a bomb due to land here any second now."

The Doctor gave a nod to Jack."Do what you have to captain." and with that, Jack vanished.

Rose looked at The Doctor in panic as they could hear the air raid sirens going off and the whistling of a bomb going towards them. "Shouldn't we move?!"

"Nope." The Doctor smiled at Rose and Drannor who looked at him in confusion, as the whistling grew closer and so loud that it made their ears ring, it suddenly stopped. They all looked up to see Jack sitting on the bomb with his ship just above him.

Jack grinned down at them. "It's the least I could do for you, fixing my mess Doc. It's only in temporary stasis, so I don't have long but it should be long enough for me to park my ship out of the Earth's atmosphere." He said as he patted the bomb below him. "Drannor, Rose, Doc, you were all amazing, wish I had a little extra time to get to know you all." Jack saluted them then and vanished along with his ship.

"Well see him again, won't we, Doctor?" Rose asked and frowned at the sad expression on The Doctor's face that matched the one on Drannor's.

"He was saying a final goodbye, Rose," Drannor spoke softly.

"No, he can't... Doctor, we have to do something! what happened to everyone lives?" Rose tugged on The Doctor's arm making him look at her.

The Doctor frowned but then his face lit up. "I have an idea but we have to be quick." He suddenly picked up Drannor and threw him over his shoulder.

Drannor yelped and groaned. "Hay! I'm not a sack of wheat!"

"You're gonna have to be for the moment, we have a captain to save and you're still in no state to be running about." The Doctor spoke quickly as he started jogging, making a very uncomfortable ride for Drannor, who could hear Rose giggling as she followed behind.
