A/N: And with this chapter, the microfic turned longfic is finished.
This was really supposed to be my casual lowkey fic I worked on when I grew bored of my other two longfics but then the reaction to this fic was so amazing, and ended up being the most popular one of them all. It was really great, and I enjoyed writing their mutual pining and denial and seeing your comments.
If you don't know what to read after this, I've got a few more fics to check out... and I am also working on some other AUs I haven't started posting yet. Most of my newer fics are only on AO3, which I do apologise for but I find it a hassle to double-post and AO3 is just a tad smoother.
You can find me on tumblr as GinnyW-Potter where I post nearly everything from updates to sneak peeks, polls on occasion.
Thank you so much for reading!
The sound outside made Ginny wake up instantly. She shot up and looked out of her window and saw that her brothers were already outside setting up things. She quickly slipped into the first pieces of clothing she could find. It was really dawning on her, she was getting married today.
She shuffled into the kitchen to see her mother very intensely at work at the counter. "What's happening?"
"The cake caterer came back and informed us she thought we meant next week Sunday, so she cancelled. I am making you a cake," she said, barely looking up from her bowl.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Ginny let out.
She didn't want to put pressure on her mother to make a big wedding cake on such short notice. Despite the last-minute event, many people had confirmed they would be able to make it to the wedding.
She walked to the counter. "Can I help you—? You don't need to do all of this, we don't need to have a cake."
Her mother looked up at her. "I want to do this, or I wouldn't have started without asking you first." Her expression shifted. "Unless you don't like my cakes."
"No! Mum, of course I love them. You know I do." She looked at all the items. "Are you sure?"
Her mum nodded. "It reminds me of my own wedding. I made my cake then too, because that's what we could afford."
Ginny hugged her mum. "Thank you."
"You have business to attend to, I'm sure. Have some breakfast and then get going. I'll be fine here."
"I love you." She picked a croissant off the table.
"Love you too," her mum said.
She waved and walked outside. She observed the men. They had already managed to set up the marquee and were now starting to move chairs in.
"I think Hermione was wrong, we could have done this later today," she commented. She bit a piece off her croissant.
"Don't let her hear you say that," Ron commented with a chuckle.
"Hey."
Ginny whipped around to greet Harry. "No, you're not supposed to see me yet!" She kissed him.
"What? I was supposed to just avoid you for the whole day?" he asked her. He leaned in closer to her. "Looks like you got tons of beauty sleep."
She smiled at him. "Alright, charmer." She offered him her croissant. "Bite?"
"Yes," he said, taking a bite of it. "I was getting nervous at home, wasn't hungry."
She pouted. "Why?"
"What if we don't pull this off?" he asked her.
She squeezed his arm. "A shit wedding is still a wedding. Try to take some deep breaths once in a while, hm?"
He sighed, smiling lightly. "I should have known you could have put me at ease."
"Of course." She took another bite of her croissant. "If I didn't have so much family, I would have been happy eloping with you."
"Oh gee, thank you!" Ron let out. "Thank you for taking us into consideration while we are hard at work to pull your wedding together and you're over there just munching on a fucking croissant!" He shook his head and walked around a new row of chairs that had just floated down.
"Did you have breakfast yet?" she asked Ron.
Another voice chuckled. "He gets so hangry when he hasn't eaten," Hermione remarked. "It looks like we are right on schedule."
"Great," Ginny told her. "There is food in the kitchen if you get hungry, just grab what you want. You are an absolute lifesaver."
Hermione smiled. "Thank you."
"And how exactly do you know my brother?" she continued.
"I—Well, I met Percy at the Ministry, and he ended up setting me up with Ron to go on a date," Hermione confessed with a blush.
Ginny turned to her. "So are you his date to the wedding then?"
"Oh, I am not coming to the wedding," Hermione said.
Ginny frowned at her. "Why not?" she asked a bit harsher than she had intended to.
"I don't wish to impose…" she said.
Ginny shook her head quickly. "No. No, you are not at all. You are making sure everything gets done. You are going to get to enjoy what you helped us pull off. Okay?" she finished with a tone that left no room for arguments. "Ronald!" she yelled. "Why didn't you tell Hermione she could join us?"
Ron paused what he was doing and looked towards them. "Like she ever listens when I tell her something?" He winked at Hermione.
"Great, so she'll be your date for the night then?" Ginny asked him.
Ron looked at Hermione. "Yeah, if that's what she wants."
"Only because you asked so nicely," Hermione retorted with a smile.
One of their brothers wolf-whistled.
Ron's ears turned red. "Oh, fuck off. At least I have a date!"
Livvy walked in right before they started the fitting of her dress. "Do you ever take a breather? This is insane!"
Ginny hugged her tightly. "Are you going to tell me I am doing something stupid?"
"No." Livvy smiled at her. "When you find yourself a man like Harry, and you love him like you do, you make him your husband. Good on you." She set down her bags. "But giving everyone two days is a little madness."
"We were just about to do a fitting of my dress, do you want to see it?"
Livvy's eyes widened. "Yes, of course!"
Ginny pulled her along. They had changed in front of each other often enough by now. A few minutes later she stood in her dress in her room. Her mum and Livvy were in deep discussion about something.
"What?" she asked.
"We just need to do a tiny adjustment up on the straps and then it should be all fine," her mum told her.
Someone knocked on the door.
"It's me," Harry said. "Can I come in?"
"You can't look!" Ginny told him.
The door opened and Harry walked in, covering his eyes. "Remus arrived with his family. If you got a minute I'd like for you to meet them before the wedding."
"Yeah, I'll be out in just a bit," she said.
"Great." He turned around and felt for the door.
Livvy ended up guiding him out and then promptly closed the door. Her mother started on the adjustments.
"What do you think, Livvy?" her mum asked.
Livvy hummed. "Much better."
"Great. I'll get back to the cake. Do you have it handled?" her mum asked Ginny's teammate.
"Got it, ma'am."
Her mother left and Livvy turned excitedly to her. "You look like a dream! Harry isn't going to know where to look first!" She looked at the back. "That's a bitch to open though. Poor Harry."
Ginny chuckled and shot Livvy a knowing look. "He is a Seeker, he has no trouble with those fingers."
Livvy shook her head laughing. "I bet he puts them to good use, yeah."
"Every now and again," Ginny retorted. "I'll get changed and go meet Remus and then we'll talk make-up."
"Perfect," she said. "I'll make myself useful in the meanwhile."
Ginny walked out and saw Harry talking to Remus and a slightly younger woman with bright pink hair. Harry was crouched down talking to the little boy, whose hair was turning from blue to brown.
Harry smiled at her and waited for her to walk up to them. "This is Ginny." He put an arm around her. "You've met Remus. This is Tonks, and their boy Teddy."
They exchanged pleasantries and Ginny crouched down too, but little Teddy seemed hesitant to talk to them. He was hiding behind his mother for now, peeking at them shyly.
"He'll warm up to you," Tonks said. "He just needs a minute." She turned to Ginny. "I wanted to ask what hair colour you'd like me to have," she spoke and her hair turned every colour for a moment. "I don't want to be too distracting with my usual pink."
"Oh no! Pink is splendid! Whatever you feel best in is fine for me," Ginny reassured her. She looked at Teddy. "We've got a pygmy puff named Arnold. He loves getting cuddles and chasing boogers. Would you like to meet him?"
Teddy must have thought her talking about boogers was funny because he chuckled.
"I heard Kingsley is officiating… he is sort of my boss," Tonks said.
"You're in his team at the Auror office?" Harry asked.
Tonks nodded and looked down. "Shall we go and look at the pygmy puff?"
Teddy nodded and she smiled.
"I'll walk you," Ginny said. She smiled at Harry and left him with Remus. "It's nice to meet you."
"You too," Tonks said. She picked up Teddy and put him on her hip. "These stubborn men, hm?"
Ginny chuckled. "They both had their own things to work through I guess, but I am glad they found their way back together."
"Me too." She walked into the kitchen. "Mum, this is Tonks and Teddy, Harry's godchild."
"So nice to meet you," Mrs Weasley greeted. "I am sorry, I am a little bit busy…"
Tonks quickly shook her head. "I completely understand. Don't worry about me, we're just passing through. Maybe we can chat during the wedding?"
"I'd love that!" Mrs Weasley said.
Lunch was spent just grabbing food off a tray and continuing their work. Neville arrived first with the flowers. Ginny watched excitedly as they were placed around the marquee and it immediately livened up the scenery.
"This is amazing," Harry remarked. He hugged her from behind and kissed the top of her head.
She nodded in agreement. "I think it looks very pretty right now. We just need food and an officiator and then all is good."
He chuckled. "Maybe a bit more than that but sure."
"Maybe," she agreed.
Neville walked over to them. "If you two can advise me on placement, it will be just as you like it."
"Yes, of course," Ginny replied. "You have outdone yourself, Nev."
"Food arrived!" Bill and Fred yelled.
Ginny waved at them. "We'll be right there!"
Fred did a thumbs up to signify he had heard her and Ginny turned back to Neville to go over the details.
She ended up going from one thing to the other until her mother told her it was time to start getting dressed and doing her hair and make-up. Luna and Livvy were joining her. She quickly kissed Harry and was whisked away to her room far too quickly.
Luna already took a few photos as Livvy started on her hair and make-up. There was bright chatter in her room.
"When we did that couple's shoot," Luna told her. "You just looked at each other in such a way… I couldn't believe you weren't actually dating… but then when I saw you next you thankfully were."
Ginny looked down. "We were idiots. That interview nearly broke me. They kept asking questions for the future and I suddenly didn't know what to say!"
"Coming from you that's deeply concerning," Livvy commented.
"I know!" Ginny agreed. "And then I just got so sad because he was talking about the future so easily and I knew it wasn't true…" She inhaled deeply. "After we started dating, he told me he meant all of it."
Livvy shook her head. "That is almost nauseatingly adorable," she commented as she looked over the eyeshadows. She held up the palette next to Ginny's face. "Yes, that should do it."
"The make-up artist told me Harry got angry at him for wanting to cover your freckles," Luna mentioned. "So don't cover those."
"I won't," Livvy agreed. "I've seen Harry look at her often enough. I know what he likes."
"That make-up artist was a bit of an arse," Ginny told Luna. "He essentially called me ugly. I didn't take that much offence, but Harry was disagreeing rather aggressively."
Livvy nodded along. "That does sound like Harry." She leaned in closer. "You have to tell me your skin routine, girl."
"I wash my face?" Ginny told her.
Livvy stared at her. "… and then?"
"A moisturiser?" Ginny continued. "That's it."
"Right." Livvy shook her head. "What about tonics and cleansers?"
Ginny smiled hesitantly. "Uhm, no. Don't need it."
Livvy looked almost appalled. "That is just insulting, Weasley. You can't just naturally look like that!"
"I'm sorry!" she defended herself. She sat back in her chair. "Get used to calling me Potter."
"I am not ready for that."
Luna and Ginny chuckled at that.
"You know, I never thought you the type to take a man's name," Livvy commented. "Not that I disagree with it."
Ginny looked up at her. "I get it. I think if you had asked me before I probably would have told you I was keeping my own name. But it's just him, you know? He doesn't have any family. Ginny Potter sounds nice."
Livvy seemed to think about it. "I suppose it does have a certain ring to it."
Ginny's heart was pounding as she waited to walk down the aisle. Her mother had just gone to join Harry.
Her dad walked into the room and looked at her fondly. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you." She readjusted the flowers in her hand. "How was Harry?"
"Good. Nervous. We had a good talk," his dad told her.
She raised her eyebrows. "You didn't give him a lecture, did you?"
"No." He smiled at her. "I gave him some fatherly advice, I suppose, about marriage. You have many people surrounding you today, I wanted to make sure he wasn't feeling too lost, and make sure he knows that he is part of this family."
"Thank you," she said. "He really adores all of you."
His father smiled. "We are very fond of him too." He shook his head slowly. "You really put him through it making him lie to us from the start."
"I'm sorry about that still," she admitted. "And I'm glad you weren't ever angry about it to him."
To her surprise, her dad laughed. She looked at him in surprise.
"We weren't very pleased, but when it came to Harry's involvement… I just figured he'd have your back without a question in the future. You need that in a man."
She chuckled lightly. "I really put the poor man through it sometimes."
"You do," he agreed lightly. "On the other hand, between the first time he visited here and now… You make him happy."
"I hope so," she said. She inhaled deeply. "Is it almost time?"
"I think so."
Ginny walked down the aisle with her dad. She was genuinely shocked about how many people had managed to show up. Everyone that mattered to her was present. She almost cried when she met eyes with Harry, and she could see his eyes were filled with tears. He looked extremely handsome in his suit, and it didn't surprise her that he had chosen to wear his glasses.
The officiator, Kingsley Shacklebolt, stood up and faced them. He smiled at both of them. "Ready?" he asked
They both nodded.
Kingsley's deep voice easily carried over the crowd as he spoke. Harry's gaze was almost overwhelming, it was so intense. She felt giddy, excited to be married.
"Harry James Potter, do you take Ginevra Molly Weasley as your wife?" Kingsley asked after he had finished his speech and necessary legal babble.
He smiled at her. "I do."
"Great." Kingsley looked at Ginny. "Ginevra Molly Weasley, do you take Harry James Potter as your husband?"
"I do," she said without a doubt. She beamed at him.
Bill stood up and offered the ring box to Kingsley, who took it from him and opened the box. Harry took out the smallest ring and gently put it on her finger. She smiled softly and took out the other ring. She held his hand in hers and put the ring on his finger.
"Perfect. Then I now pronounce you bonded for life. You may kiss." Kingsley stepped back.
Ginny put her arms around his neck and pulled him to her at once. His arms wrapped around her. He kissed her eagerly. She leaned back, smiling widely and he gazed at her. He kissed her again, taking a moment longer now.
The crowd cheered and they broke apart. A few fireworks went off, with confetti twinkling down on the guests. Fred and George looked very excited about it.
Many hugs were exchanged as people came up to them to congratulate them. First her family, her teammates and last but not least her friends.
By the time she was done talking to everyone, her brothers had already managed to work down their first serving of food at the buffet.
"What?" Ron said through a mouthful when she commented on it. "We needed to make sure it was up to quality standards." He swallowed. "I am happy to report that it is."
Ginny turned back to Harry. "You look very handsome tonight."
"You look like a dream," he told her softly.
She hugged him close and he held her for a moment before they went to load up their plates as well. When everyone had at least one helping of food, Harry and Ginny stood up to give a speech.
"I won't keep you too long," Harry started. "I just want to thank you all for coming, especially on such short notice. It is really appreciated. I know some people wonder why the rush in marrying?" He smiled at Ginny. "I blissfully ignored the newspapers this morning but I am willing to bet they had some outrageous claims. There is no reason, really, for this rush other than that I just truly want to be married to the most amazing woman I've ever met." He squeezed her hand. "We've had a most wonderful week, and it felt like the perfect closure; sometimes you just know.
"I want to thank everyone who showed up extra early to make this wedding happen, it wouldn't have been possible without you. Especially all the Weasleys. You are all amazing and have always been so supportive Ginny and I…" He swallowed hard. "I can't tell you how much I appreciate and cherish that."
Ginny watched her mother wipe a tear.
"Ginny," Harry continued. "There is not a dull moment without you. I love you."
She smiled at him and kissed him softly. Then she turned to the crowd.
"Before I start this story, I just want to ask… Mum, did you see our first kiss?" she asked, looking over at her mum.
"In the kitchen? Yes!" she quickly replied.
Ginny nodded. "That does explain a lot."
A chuckle went through the crowd.
"As many of you know, the true start of all this happened when a Bludger hit me in the head and I dropped off my broom unconsciously. Harry decided to catch me instead of the Snitch. Something I really appreciate. I don't think hitting a cushioning charm from that height does any good…"
Harry didn't seem sure where she was going with this.
"Don't worry, Harry. I'll stop on time," she said with a wink. "After that fall I went home quickly—I assumed we had lost and I didn't want to deal with that. I was still concussed and groggy. I remember getting changed at home… And then Harry showed up to check on me." She smiled at him. "I warned him that if he continued being an absolute charmer like he was, my mother would have us married by dessert… and then the man committed to treacle tart. You would think I had figured out at that point where this was going, but I didn't."
"I'm sorry, you know treacle tart is my favourite," he defended with a smile. "The marriage was just an added benefit."
She chuckled. "Not quite," she replied. "We weren't quite there yet. The matter of the fact is that we ended up kissing then. I was aware my mother was nearby and so I asked him to speak him outside and to please obliviate me to forget that kiss." She sighed. "I stand up only to notice that I have been trouserless this whole time! My parents hadn't pointed it out, and Harry was of course too polite to bring it up."
"The shirt was long," Harry interjected.
"Trouserless, concussed, and begging him to obliviate me to forget we ever kissed. I know how to leave a lasting impression on a man." Ginny looked into the crowd. "You may already guess since I am talking about it today that while he did obliviate me, he also gave me my memory back when he was starting to realise this was a bit more complicated than we had anticipated." She squeezed his hand. "All of this to say that Harry has been watching out for me since day one, even if that made things more complicated for him. I know I speak too quickly sometimes, I can be a bit rash but… Harry was the one who rose to the challenge." She turned to him. "You are so kind and compassionate. You are funny, and smart… I love you so much."
He hugged her, stealing another kiss from her. Fred and George suddenly walked up to the front.
"We prepared something,"
"Oh Merlin," Ginny let out.
"It's really short!" Fred defended.
George nodded. "So as you know, our Ginny was selected as the most eligible Chaser of the season, which you can imagine she will not hold in the coming season."
"Yes," Fred continued. "We looked up the definition of 'eligible' in a dictionary. It reads as follows: a person who is desirable or suitable as a partner in marriage."
The two looked at her and raised their eyebrows.
"Now you are married, that is proven to be correct," George told her. "Proof that Quidditch Quarrel can get some things right."
Fred smiled at her. "And now we want to talk to you about the night you realised you were madly in love with him and you ran over to get some brotherly advice."
Ginny hid her face in her hands.
"She told us and we told her we already knew. These two were not being subtle in any capacity," Fred teased. "So we told her to confess, which she told us was not great advice. Though we were pretty sure about Harry's feelings too… Alas…" Fred turned to her. "In hindsight, should you have taken our advice?"
She sighed. "Yes."
"Thank you." The two bowed. "That'll be all."
The guests resumed their dinner. Ginny tried to get to dessert before the music started and it was time for their first dance. She decided to keep it to the one, knowing Harry didn't enjoy it too much, although with his gaze locked on hers, he didn't seem to mind so much.
When it became dark outside, Fred and George invited them to escape the marquee for a moment. Ginny put her arm around Harry as they watched the fireworks together. It was heart-shaped for the most part but there were glimpses of Quidditch hoops and Snitches, a pygmy puff and even their names written in the sky.
Ginny looked at Harry to see him cry. She reached up and carefully wiped his tears. He nuzzled against her.
When the fireworks stopped, the guests applauded. Fred tried to take an order from someone until he was scolded by Molly. Ginny spent a lot of time chatting to guests. She thanked Kingsley for officiating. Gwenog asked her if this had changed her aspirations and Ginny assured her it had not.
Ginny had sat down on Harry's lap when she saw Michael and Gwenog dance together, just a little too close to be friends.
"I guess you were right," Harry told her.
Ginny nodded. "I suppose now that she's retiring, she is not keeping it a secret anymore."
It was funny to see some reactions of both teams to it; not all of them had seen it coming. Livvy approached her with the gossip a few minutes later.
"Apparently they have been in a steady relationship for three years! Can you believe it?" Livvy whispered loudly over the music.
Ginny smiled. "I thought there was something going on, but I couldn't have guessed three years either." She looked at Michael, who was now surrounded by his players, presumably to answer some questions. "They make a cute couple."
"I heard you and Ethan are continuing the casual thing?" Harry nudged gently.
Livvy nodded. "I can't be locked down by a man right now—no offence—and Ethan understands that."
"Good on you, Livvy," Ginny told her.
"Goodnight!" Ginny said again.
Her family waved her off. It really felt like a significant goodbye. Harry waited for her and she took his hand. They walked to the end of the garden together. She thought Harry was simply going to apparate, but he scooped her up into his arms.
"Have to do this right," he clarified.
She looked at him in amusement. "What? Tumble off the doorstep?"
He did not reply and apparated. He stuck the landing and carried her over the threshold. Ginny decided not to look at the reporters lying in wait for them as Harry closed the door.
He carried her up the stairs in one go. There he put her down. She turned around to him and locked eyes with him. She took his hands in hers.
"Mrs Potter," he said.
Her face broke out in a smile. "I'm going to need to get used to that." She stepped closer to him. "Husband."
He kissed her. He released her hands and they shifted down her side.
"Harry, I need you," she breathed against his lips.
He nodded and turned her around in his arms. His hand tracked down the closing for a moment.
"This dress is so beautiful on you," he told her, "but I'll be glad to take it off."
His fingers began moving to undo the buttons one by one. They were small and fiddly, but Harry was getting through them in a steady rhythm. Ginny turned back around and then stepped out of her dress as he watched.
His pupils darkened as his eyes fell on her lingerie, it was white and lacy. "I hadn't even thought about lingerie," he commented hoarsely. "It's probably good I didn't know that was under there."
She raised an eyebrow. "I had to wear something special tonight." She moved forward and pulled his vest off, and then started undoing the buttons of his shirt.
"This is all you should wear for our honeymoon," he told her resolutely.
Her eyes danced up to his face. "That would be a shame considering the other things I have bought for our honeymoon," she teased.
"There's more?" he asked. "Marry me."
She chuckled lightly. She pushed his shirt off his shoulders. She pulled him close again by his trousers and kissed him while she undid the belt and opened his trousers. Her hand went into it and palmed him. He inhaled sharply.
She stepped back and got onto the bed. He took his trousers off and then joined her. She sat on top of him. His hands landed on her hips.
"I have never seen a more gorgeous sight," he told her.
She leaned down and kissed him. His hands danced up her back and she thought he'd open her bra but his hands moved back down and palmed her ass. Then his lips danced down her body. They skated around the fabric of her bra and down her sternum to her belly button.
"My dear hubbie, you're going to have to hurry along just a little," she complained as she carded her fingers through his hair.
He chuckled happily and buried his face against her stomach. "I must oblige if you ask me like that." He met her eyes.
She nodded slowly. She kissed his forehead. He opened her bra and pulled it off her. He kissed both her breasts and left a trail with his tongue. Her hand dove into her panties and she began playing with her clit. Harry's lips paused and then he looked down.
"You are going to be so wet for me," he commented, and then resumed his attack on her breasts.
After a moment she sat up on her knees. "Pull them down."
He made her scoot up a little closer. His thumbs hooked into her panties. He pulled them down a bit and then kissed her clit, then he pulled it lower down and kissed her thigh. She was practically throbbing for him. She moved so he could take it off her entirely. Then she pulled his underwear down.
She lay on her side beside him and he pulled her close. Their bodies entangled and he pushed into her. She moaned happily. They fucked slowly, their mouths hardly disconnecting from each other. Ginny had her leg over his hip so he could enter at a perfect angle.
"Is my wife going to cum soon?"
And if that didn't turn her on more. She nodded and hummed a reply. He breathed harder too. Two strokes later her orgasm hit her and he came with her. She stilled, feeling him throb inside of her. She tucked her face against his neck without breaking their embrace.
"I love you."
"I love you."
He kissed her temple. She let her fingers slip down his side until it made him shiver. She met his eyes.
"I don't know how to explain to you that you have made so many positive changes in my life, I didn't think I could have this kind of happiness."
She caressed his cheek. "You deserve it. I will continue making you happy."
"Even if you left tomorrow, I'd still be a happier man than I was before I met you. You helped me heal."
Ginny rested their foreheads together. "I'm not leaving, ever. It's you and I."
"You and I," he repeated.
"I hope you understood what I was trying to say in my speech," she continued. "I know I've been a hassle here and there."
He chuckled. "You intrigued me more than anything."
She smiled at him. "I have a confession to make," she started. "That first night I slept in your bed, I wasn't really asleep when I rolled into you."
Harry laughed and looked at her in amusement. "Oh, I know about that."
"What?" She blinked in confusion. "Why didn't you say anything?"
He shook his head slowly. "No one falls asleep in under a minute and rolls perfectly up against you. I figured you were attracted to me more than you cared to admit—especially with the kissing and everything. I thought it was rather charming."
She looked at him. "Yeah?"
"Yeah. I was flattered. You're a gorgeous Quidditch player, you're exactly my type. I didn't mind any of it."
"So you knew I would know you put your arm around me on purpose?" she asked.
He smiled at her. "I figured if you thought anything of it, you would understand that I didn't mind."
"Is that why you decided to have sex with me again?" she continued. Her fingers were softly massaging his scalp.
"No, no. I did that against my better judgment," he told her with a smirk.
She laughed at that. "Good choice."
He kissed her softly. "I think so too."
Ginny untangled herself from him and reached out to her dress to retrieve her wand from the pocket.
"What are you planning, Weasley?" he asked.
She looked at him and paused. His eyes widened.
"Try that again," she told him.
"What are you planning, Potter?" he said instead.
She crawled to him. "Magic tongue," she said, kissing him again. "I hope you're ready."
She did the spell and Harry pulled her into him to kiss her but she shook her head. She kissed his neck. His hands tightened on her waist. She licked a trail down and Harry moaned softly.
She knew if she wrapped her lips around his cock it would be over for him. She gave him a few more seconds of respite. She swirled her tongue around the tip and he was trembling under her. She moved her head down twice and he was already cumming, moaning hard.
When she sat up, he offered her wand back and asked her to charm his tongue as well. Then she put her wand away again. The moment their tongues touched, she pulled back and looked at him.
"Not scared are you?" he teased.
She shook her head and kissed him. Their tongues swirling each other brought so much pleasure it felt like the floodgates had opened. Harry guided her to sit on top of him.
"Fuck," she muttered as he slipped inside. "Perfect."
Their lips locked while their hips moved. The charms enhancing each other made for quite a combination. She came seconds before he did. Their lips separated and she dropped herself beside him.
Ginny fitted her hand with her wedding ring into his. "Livvy said Greece was nice to travel to, her mother is there a lot in summer."
"Greece sounds nice," Harry told her.
She brought his face closer to his. "You're agreeing with whatever I say right now?"
"Yes, my hot fudge."
Ginny woke up without Harry by her side. She looked at the clock, it was hardly nine. She put on her bathrobe and nothing else and walked downstairs. She found Harry in the kitchen, making a bunch of items.
"What are you doing?" she asked, trying to wake up further. She padded into the kitchen.
Harry smiled at her. "We do have some Quidditch commitments in the afternoon, I thought brunch was appropriate."
"You could have taken your time in bed with me," she teased. She kissed him. "Why is that charm still on?"
"It's back on," he told her with a grin. He patted the counter. "Sit."
She hopped on it and Harry put a tray of rolls in the oven.
"When that is ready, we can eat," he told her.
She opened her bathrobe and let it fall open. He walked to her and kissed her again. He kissed his way down her body and then pulled her closer to the edge of the counter. He knelt down and opened her legs. Then his mouth was on her clit. She immediately knew why Harry charmed his tongue again.
She put her hands into his hair, guiding him exactly where she wanted him. He happily followed her lead, while licking her clit quickly.
"Husbands are fun," she commented.
Harry moved just enough to look up at her and saw the twinkle in his eyes and then he brought the attention right back to her clit. The pleasure was quickly building.
"Harry," she moaned. "Husband Harry."
He hummed against her clit. She felt his fingers enter her and she was close to bursting. His fingers began curling inside of her and she couldn't hold back.
"Harry!" she moaned, and then she was sent over the edge, wave after wave of pleasure coursing through her as his fingers curled and his tongue licked. Even as she came down from her orgasm, his licks while he cleaned her up sent light jolts of pleasure through her. It had left her breathless.
"We still have two minutes to spare for the rolls," Harry commented as he stood back up, wiping his mouth.
She nodded. "Aha." She closed her bathrobe again and slipped off the counter. She pulled Harry into a hug.
He picked her up instead and she wrapped her legs around him and she slumped against him, resting her head on his shoulder. They remained like that until the timer went off.
It was a busy week for them, they needed to do press conferences and photoshoots and interviews. Nothing less was expected of the World Cup winners. There was more attention going to all of them than ever before. They still found plenty of time to celebrate their wedding, which was also rather well-reported.
Ginny officially applied for the Captain position on Tuesday and then waited for news, knowing everyone of the team had a chance to apply that week. Harry told Michael he was retiring. The Captain seemed to be shocked by that information, and had serious concerns about finding a good Seeker replacement, but accepted Harry's resignation.
A day later, Michael stood in their living room.
"You are absolutely sure you are retiring?" Michael asked.
Harry nodded without hesitation. "Very."
"Alright." Michael turned to Ginny and took out a scroll and handed it over to her. "That is an official offer for you to start at Seeker with us. I know you're loyal to the Harpies, but I know you could be an amazing Seeker for our team. Please consider it."
Ginny took the scroll from him. "Okay." She smiled at him. "I know you are a good Captain."
"Thank you." Michael smiled at both of them. "I will not keep you any longer, I'm sure you have plans."
When the door closed, Ginny turned to Harry in surprise. "Did that just happen?"
"I guess so." He pointed at the scroll. "Open it."
She broke the seal and rolled it open, looking over the offer.
"They should have offered you more," Harry mumbled as he stood beside her to read along.
She glanced up at him. "What? That is almost double what I earned last year."
Harry looked a bit uncomfortable. "That is how much I was making last year, and you have won a World Cup since."
"Huh." She looked back at the scroll. "I do not have that much Seeker experience, however. This is a good offer for me." She shook her head slowly. "Can't believe the Harpies are still so underpaid and no one is talking about it."
Ginny then got an offer to be Captain of the Holyhead Harpies. It was something she had worked towards for so long and something she had dreamed of since she was a child, but when she saw the offer, she was suddenly hesitating.
She looked at Harry, they were both sitting on a chair in his office. "How can it be that I would make less money as a Captain than I would as a new Seeker?"
Harry shook his head. "You can use the Phoenixes offer to demand more with the Harpies. That doesn't change there will always be a difference."
"When I started at the Harpies it was such a huge amount for me I wouldn't have dared to negotiate. It's still a lot, but the inequality of it all bothers me…"
"You deserve the pay," Harry said. "And if you want to be a Seeker at the Phoenixes, I think you should do it… I just don't think that's what you want." He reached out and squeezed her hand. "You want to make a change, you can't do that in Phenton."
"It's not just the pay is it…" she said. "What happened with Carrie… I understand she made a mistake… but someone must have put her up to it, and I am willing to bet it's someone from management. I want to turn it inside out and find out what's going on…" Her determination grew. "And you know how I hate that players just go and have babies?"
"A terrible offence," Harry commented with a smile.
She shook her head. "I spoke with a few old players recently about that and so many told me that it's just so hard to come back, there are too many hurdles, so I have been playing around with some ideas…"
Harry's eyebrows rose. "Like what?"
"It's just an idea… but I was thinking about organising summer camps… retired players could manage those camps… we can give their kids priority to enter it and they'd have childcare settled and be able to see how they're feeling about coming back slowly."
"And in the meanwhile you are scouting young talent, most of which may be predisposed to be good at Quidditch from birth," Harry concluded.
Ginny nodded. "Exactly. Of course they can choose to sign with another team, but if you have a relationship with them already…"
"And you have people who were interested in that?"
"Yes!" she replied enthusiastically. "I mentioned it to two at the wedding and they were immediately on board. They'd want to join. And once those kids go off to Hogwarts, they can join their house team and keep up on their Quidditch practice over the summer with us." She looked over at Harry. "Why are you smiling at me like that?"
"Because I can tell you've already made your mind up," he told her. "What are you waiting for? Not your husband's approval, I hope? This is your choice. And if you need someone to advocate loudly for more equal pay, I'm your guy." He leaned back in his chair. "Or you need a World Cup winner Seeker to lead a summer camp… you know where I live…"
She nodded with a bright smile. She picked up the two scrolls and stood up, quickly kissing Harry. "I am going to demand what I am owed for this position, and after I've signed, I am going to make all the men of management sweat." She grabbed her wand. "I love you!"
"Go get 'em, babe!" Harry shouted before she stepped out of the door. "You've got this."
Ginny sipped her tea as she listened to the waves of the sea, enjoying the Greek morning sun. The Daily Prophet had just been delivered to them a day late and Harry was reading the article out loud.
"The news of Gwenog Jones stepping down and retiring has come as a shock to us all but her replacement had many of us sigh with relief. None other than Harpies' Chaser Ginny Potter—Weasley until last week—has signed on as Captain, asking nearly double the pay compared to her predecessor. When asked for the reason, management let us know that the World Cup winner and record-holding Chaser was in high demand and it was needed to meet the offer made to her by another team. Ginny Potter's loyalty to the Harpies is unquestioned, so one must wonder if they really low-balled her that badly, and how worse off regular players are."
"Lee Jordan's connections really are proving useful," Ginny commented. "I just hope Skeeter doesn't jump on this too much."
Harry shrugged noncommittally and continued reading. "This of course begs the question why an all-female team is still systemically underpaid when they have been at the top leader board along with other star teams… I for one would love to see the payroll for these players and compare… We can be excited about the Harpies' season, for now we will let the new Captain enjoy her much-earned honeymoon together with husband and freshly retired Quidditch star Harry Potter."
She smiled at him. "Shall we pop over to Athens today? We just need to avoid the reporters…"
"I guess that's the curse of dating an active player, reporters follow her everywhere," Harry told her, folding up the Daily Prophet and laying it down next to his plate.
She chuckled. "Oh, sure."
"We can visit the Acropolis after hours," Harry suggested.
She frowned at him. "Are you trying to get arrested?"
He smiled at her. "Who is going to arrest a couple of cats enjoying the sunset?"
"Oh." She put her mug of tea down. "I like that idea." She stood up and walked to him. She straddled his lap.
He pushed her open shirt off her shoulders. He kissed her collarbone. "There is no rush, is there?"
"Of course there isn't."
He kissed further down and she sighed happily. He picked her up, leaving breakfast where it was and walked her back to bed. She crawled on the bed and turned around to him.
"Is this the wrong time and place to tell you you're built like a Greek god?" she teased.
He chuckled and lightly blushed. "Yes, I think it is." He got on the bed with her.
"You'll just have to deal with that then," she teased as he hovered over her.
He kissed her cheek. "Oh, I will."
He attacked her with kisses and she laughed as he tickled her. He laughed with her and she wrapped her legs around his waist. An involuntary moan escaped him as she pushed their hips together. He paused what he was doing and locked eyes with her. She smiled at him and pulled him down to kiss him.
Ginny was excited to start her first real day as Captain of the team. She had made many preparations already.
"Does it feel weird not to be off to training yourself?" Ginny asked Harry while he watched her from the door of the bathroom. She tied her hair in a ponytail.
Harry shook his head lightly. "It's pretty okay, actually. I am very excited for you."
She walked to him. "You're going to miss me, aren't you?" she teased.
He wrapped her in his arms. "Of course." He kissed her. "And being a Captain is very tiring. I'll make sure you can relax when you come home."
"I love you, and I really need to leave now. I need to be there first, set the tone." She kissed him again and then stepped out of his arms.
She walked to the bedroom and grabbed her wand, Harry followed her until she was by the front door, and then she turned back around to him.
"I love you, you're my very cool and talented wife and you are going to be the best Captain that ever was," he told her.
She smiled. "Thank you." She kissed him softly. "I heard the Phoenixes are still doing try-outs for a new Seeker. You can go watch it if you get bored."
"Michael may drag me back inside, I won't risk it," he replied.
She nodded and kissed him one last time. "Bye, honey."
Harry opened the door for her. "Good luck, my love. You got this!"
