The phone gets answered and put on speaker mode as a voice inside the house says, "Hello, Donald Drake speaking."
In the meanwhile, the Rangers and Plato have made their way inside the house.
On their way towards the path to find Donald, they discovered that he was on the phone in his office.
Therefore, they made their way to the wall panel nearby the doorway of the office and stood securely as they began to eavesdrop on the phone conversation inside.
So while the rodents and canine all kept their ears peeled upon their full attention, a lady on the other end of the line responds, "Yes, Mr. Drake. This is Vivian Gizmo from the Animal Control. I'm calling upon regards to your son, Adam and your canine pet, Plato."
In response to hearing Vivian reference those two names, Plato creased his brows while the Rangers all looked towards each other with concerned looks on their faces in this case event as she continues on, "I was trying to get in contact with those two just minutes ago in regards to some police orders that I received from the chief at the Precinct about a certain team of 'Rescue Rangers' as they call them."
Cutting to the retired Detective sitting in front of his home office desk, Donald wonders, "Ah, you mean that supposed troop of animal detectives that Adam and Plato mentioned about earlier on the news?" "Yes, precisely." Vivian answers.
We then cut to the short thick dark brown haired lady inside her office at the Rescue Animal Society base with her phone also on speaker mode as she continues on while looking down at one of the pieces of said documentation that was faxed over to her, "So earlier, I was radioing in on those two officers to report to the RAS base as soon as possible about all this. Then about a moment later, I got a response from Adam stating that he had apparently put Professor Nimnul behind bars at that very moment; which was of course, great to know. But then however, he stated this thing that those Rangers would have to hold off for a while."
Plato and the Rangers' eyes widened as they were more in surprise than in shock from that statement, and then the Rangers all gasped, "Huh!?"
Very appalled with an arched eyebrow, Donald asks, "Hold off for a while?...He seriously told you just THAT?"
"Yes!" Vivian exclaimed sincerely.
The Rangers and Plato did not buy that nonsense one bit. Therefore, they scowled much to their own comprehension on this unappealing situation.
It was pretty obvious that something was totally off about all of it, especially as they moments ago discovered about the mess that they stumbled across from Adam's damaged motorcycle back at the police station.
Therefore, Zipper shakes his in disbelief and says, "I don't get it." Chip then scoffs and replies, "Me neither, Zipper."
"Golly! This is so strange*!" Gadget says.
"Beyond belief if you ask me, Gadget lass." Says Plato uncertainly, and then mentally adds in, "Especially as me and the young lad had both genuinely arranged for us all to meet back over at the City Bank."
Donald then incomprehensively replies to Vivian, "Well thats...peculiar. And here I thought that the police were determined to find these animal detectives as their cue for the supposed numerous amounts of crimes that have slipped through the cracks within this past year."
Vivian rolls her eyeballs and then says derisively, "Tell me something I don't know, former Detective. Does it sound like the police are suspicious of them trying to take over the world?"
The Rangers all exchange cringes at each other in response while Plato sneers at that remark muttering, "Are you kidding me right now?"
"Right right, of course." Donald says feeling stupified from that slip out.
He then frantically asked Vivian, "Well, have you tried contacting Adam and Plato again to find out exactly what might be going on with them right now in this case?"
"Yes, I've tried! Of course, I've tried!" The lady exclaims, "I've done and tried about six times already! Yet from what I was able to make sense into after that very last piece of information that I received, the radio's signal cut off completely. Thus, it apparently lost input now."
Donald sighs as he closes his eyes in distress and responds, "I see."
All the heroes' eyes grew wide in concern while Donald states to the brown leather jacket wearing lady on the phone, "Well, Vivian, I appreciate you reaching out to me about this in regards to my son and dog, that really means a lot. So by that matter, is there anything that I can do for you in the case?"
"As a matter of fact, Mr. Drake, yes!" Vivian gladly answers, "Would you be so kind as to inform Adam and Plato whenever they return back home; perhaps say when they are off duty for the day that I had called for them on the radio in regards to police orders in association with these apparent metro Rescue Rangers to report to RAS base seventy-seven?"
"Sure." Donald answers, "Hold on a second." He then grabs a pen and a piece of notebook paper.
Donald then says while writing down, "Rescue Animal Society base seventy-seven, did you say?" "Correct." She says.
"Okay, gotcha."
After he finished writing that information down, Donald stated, "Alright, got that information noted. I'll be sure to tell them once they come home."
"Excellent!" Vivian says proudly, "Thanks so much, Mr. Drake!" "No problem, Vivian. Have a nice day now!"
After pressing the button on his phone to end the call, Donald harrumphs, "Hmm." He then leaned back on his chair and cupped his chin as he began growing a look of disapproval on his face from that information.
As for the Rangers and Plato, they all gained very befuddled expressions upon how much this whole situation was escalating.
"Well I don't know about you, Rangers," Says Plato, "But this is getting really bizarre now."
Dale then says, "I can't agree with you more, Plato. This just dosen't make any sense."
"It couldn't be like that of Adam to just push us away like that all of a sudden." Gadget points out. "Too right, Gadget luv. Providin' how eager the young lad is to meet us, it CERTAINLY couldn't." Says Monterrey.
"Right you all are indeed." Plato states, "If I know how well Donald raised Adam as a son, and how well he taught that boy from there on out as he grew up among his desires of being a detective; then he should know well enough that focusing on top priorities is one of the keys to being a great detective. Therefore, I certainly know that as of now, finding you Rangers is part of the lad's top priorities that he should be focused on."
Chip then directs to the gang, "Well, perhaps now is the time that we inform Do-"
Chip gets cut off as the phone in Donald's office rings again.
"Or not."
Donald then once again puts the call on speaker mode and answers, "Hello. Donald Drake speaking."
This time the person on the other end of the line was Sergeant Thomas Spinelli in his office at the precinct with a half eaten ham and cheese sandwhich in one hand, and the handset of the phone's receiver on the other.
After hearing Donald on the other end pick up, Spinelli replied with wide grin on his face via hearing form Donald after a long while since his retirement, "Don! How you doing, buddy? Long time no see! It's me, Thomas!"
"Ah, Spinelli!" Donald responds with an inward smile, "Nice to hear from you, too! Well for starters, I wish I could say right now that I'm feeling alright. However, just a minute ago I was informed about some bizarre news about my son."
As his expression turns frantic, Sergeant Spinelli began explaining to Donald, "Well quite a coincidence that you mention that, Don. In other words, I wanted to reach out to you that we seem to have a serious problem here."
The retired Detective grew a sudden expression of confusion, and then asks, "What?"
The Rangers and Plato's anxiety began to rise steadily while Thomas answers, "Well, it appears that Adam is in some serious trouble here!"
The Rangers' eyes abruptly widened; whereas the tails and ears of the two mice and two chipmunks' stiffened while Plato blinked as if the bulldog was wondering if he had heard what he thought he just heard.
Donald's expression grows more questioningly, and then desperately asks, "What are you talking about?"
Sergeant Spinelli answers while staring at a piece of documentation on his hand, "I claim to have received word about it all once I came into my office just moments ago."
"Are you sure?" Asks Donald, "Well what KIND of trouble?"
"Well, why don't you come on down over to the station take a look for yourself?" Thomas advised.
Donald sighed in frustration and then says, "Alright then."
As absorbed as the Rangers and Plato were in at this point on this mysterious case of the sudden disappearance of their heroes' prince, they were left with feelings of surprise, confusion, fear, and dismay.
Thus, Chip removes his fedora and scratches his head much to his confusion and suspicion. The fact that the Sergeant provided little information to Donald in this matter on the phone made him wonder if anyone at the police station who knows what they are doing has been informed about any of this mess. Namely, the chief at the precinct, Stan.
In the meantime, Dale points out in this manner, "I've got a bad feeling about this, guys." Monterrey Jack adds in, "I'm sure we all feel ya there, mate."
"Plato," Gadget calls down to the canine below her in much wonder, "Do you suppose anyone has called this whole thing over to the chief?"
All flustered at the moment from all this, the detective bulldog answers, "Somehow, Gadget lass...I don't think so."
The blond haired mouse inventor then blurts out, "Uh-oh. I think we have a problem here."
In the meanwhile after ending the call, Donald spent that moment to think over that bit of conversation with Thomas before getting up from his desk. In the event, he says to himself, "Wait a minute...Spinelli said that he 'claimed' to have 'received' word...But if HE knows about this, shouldn't Stan know about it too?"
Chip then points out to the others in response via his detective vibes, "Yeah, I was just thinking that too." The other Rangers nodded in agreement as Dale chimes to Chip's remark, "Weren't we all, Chip?"
"Like they say, lads." Plato points out to the chipmunks, "Great minds think alike!"
Then after a moment passed by, Donald swiftly got up from his desk and started making his way down to the police station. He was walking at a very fast pace due to his grimly attitude among his knowledge of his son being in some sort of peril. A pace that was so fast that he didn't even notice the Rangers and Plato in his peripheral sight in the hallway within his path.
Therefore, chills started running through Plato and the Rangers as fear was beginning to build up inside them all.
They did at least feel relieved that the part where they themselves intended on informing Donald about this whole predicament was put aside save for those phone calls.
Still though in this manner, Chip blurts out, "Gosh, talk about being on a case and solving a mystery."
Monterrey Jack then reminisces, "This is more frustratin' than the Great Wildebeest Tussle of 79 back in the outback^."
"As I said though, Rangers," Plato states as if he was making sure that they all focused their attention back to this mystery, "I know very well that if anything DEFINITELY emerged with ANY officer at the precinct; especially someone like Rookie Drake, someone would have sent a such report to Stan. Thus, HE would have been the one to call Donald of all those at the precinct."
While the Rangers grew very concerned and anxiously worried with that concept seering into their minds, Dale chimes in, "Well, look at the bright side, guys. At least Professor Nimnul is put away behind bars for good; for that we are definitely sure about."
"I don't know, Dale," Zipper chirps out, "Somehow, I'm not very certain about that."
"Yeah, I'm with Zipper on that one." Chip says in agreement, "With every circumstance that we have stumbled across so far, my suspicions tell me otherwise."
Plato then explained to the Rangers, "Oh nonsense, Rangers. I know that Nimnul couldn't possibly have gone too far in an attempt to escape from that mess we saw back at the police station. We had every limb of that maniac restrained in a straitjacket anyway."
With no time to even think through that bit of debation, Plato then directs to the Rangers, "But enough chit-chat, Rangers. We've got to catch up with Detective Drake at the precinct."
Back over at the police station. Donald was approaching on his way. Then suddenly within his path, the retired Detective caught eyesight of something much to his shock. "Gah!" He says.
He then sprinted his way to what he found to be his son's motorcycle that of course has been damaged.
"How the-" He says in a compliant manner, "What happened HERE?"
Donald then picks up the vehicle and examines the remains and mess from the motorcycle oil spillage.
Afterwards, he sighs in frustration with his eyes closed, "Oh! DARN IT!"
Donald angrily tossed the motorcycle back towards the ground as he shouted out those last two words, and then made his way inside the station.
Meanwhile, Plato and the Rangers of course are following behind him. Noting Donald's seemingly hostile behavior in this case, the Rangers ears and tails all began to droop as they all exchanged horrified and depressed looks on their faces while Plato gulps and gives an expression on his face as to say, "This cannot be happening to me!"
The heroes just know that Donald will not be happy with whatever could possibly be in store in regards to his son from Sergeant Spinelli.
Inside the chief's office, Donald slams the door open; causing Stan to flinch behind his desk in Donald's unecessary manner of entrance.
"Stan!" Donald exclaims, "We've got an emergency and I need some answers!"
"Uh..Come in?" Stan quivers while sitting in front of his desk, "What's the emergency?"
Donald then walks up towards the chief's desk, and then explains while hooking a thumb over in the direction of where the motorcycle is, "I found Adam's motorcycle outside in front of the window of Thomas' office. It's damaged!"
"What!?" Stan shouts.
Eagerly continuing on, Donald then points out to the chief, "And in the event, I've received word from Thomas that my son is apparently in hot water somehow!"
All stumped on everything at this point, "Huh? What do you mean he is in hot water?"
"So if I might ask, has anyone reported anything to you about it?"
Stan reluctantly answers yet in his professional honesty, "No. Nobody has reported ANY such thing to ME about Adam. As far as I'm concerned, I'm assuming that Rookie Drake has Norton locked up by now while Plato is out finding a team of certain animal detectives out there to bring to the station."
Donald then quickly made his way out of Stan's office as Donald rests his case that Stan has said just enough to have given all the information that the retired Detective needed to hear and says, "Right, what I thought! JUST what I thought!"
Stan though stood up from his chair and tries calling out to Don in an attempt to halt him from speed walking his way out the door, "Wait, Donald!...Donald!"
No dice though as Donald slams it on his way out; leaving Stan all dazed and confused, "The least you could do is tell me whats going on here so I could try and help!"
The chief then slumped back down in his chair with a defeated expression in that matter.
Then inside Sergeant Spinelli's office, Thomas is sitting in front of his desk with some supposed documentation in his hand while Officers Elias Muldoon and Jack Kirby are standing against the wall with their arms folded.
Donald makes his way inside and then everyone is silent for about a few seconds.
Just then, the Rangers and Plato arrive and stand in a position behind the doorway of Thomas' office as they once again eavesdrop on this "interesting" meeting while Donald simply asks his former fellow officers, "What?"
Spinelli then closes his eyes and spreads his mouth as to provide an expression on his face as to say, "I regret to inform you", while he holds up a piece of paper for Donald to take a look at.
Donald accepts the document and then takes a look at what it states.
The Rangers curiosity of course begins growing in the event while Donald scoffs in shock, "What?"
The retired Detective turns his face to the officers and says, "You have GOT to be kidding me!"
Jack slowly shakes his head.
"This HAS to be a joke, I can feel it."
"Nope." Spinelli says.
"It was what Thomas had found and provided to us once he came in this morning." Elias states.
Officer Kirby then says with his deep bass voice, "It's bad enough seeing that Professor Nimnul has managed to escape his way from prison. Again!"
The Rangers and Plato's mouths hung agape as if they were trying to fully comprehend on what they just heard much to their sudden thunderbolt of surprise while Officer Muldoon adds in, "Here's to thinking of the multiple times that we have arrested that evil scientist, and then next thing we know; hes gets clean away somehow. Yet we've been unable to gather clues and stuff to find out how he keeps slipping away."
Donald then says, "Oh yeah yeah. That spoiled Norton Nimnul playing that beloved 'Get out of Jail Free' card game. Quite skilled at it, isn't he? Yeah. Do you think that is a legitimately advisable excuse to KICK my boy out of the police force and ruin my special dream when he hasn't even been through his first day as a cop!?"
The shocking news that the Rangers just heard left them all momentarily stunned as feelings of cold blood flew inside them, and then they just gasped in a hushed tone, "NO!"
Plato then slowly closes his eyes and sighs in a hushed tone as well, "Ohhhhhhhhh no."
Thomas says in a retreating posture in his chair, "Woah hey, Don. This was just what we had found and wanted to call you on over here for and check out about Rookie Drake Jr."
Elias adds in, "Yet, where he is now is another story at that." "And we haven't been able to pick up any clues either." Jack says.
As nonchalant as those officers typically sounded, Spinelli concludes, "Yeah. Its not looking very good, Don~. And I'm afraid that mysterious disappearances aren't in our jurisdiction."
While Plato annoyingly shakes his head in disbelief from that implausible exscuse from the Sergeant, Donald then significantly asks in such desperate wonder, "Oh yeah? Tell me this, Thomas! What about city property? Or the Drake's own property? Like Adam's damaged motorcycle!"
The retired Detective gestured to the open window right behind Sergeant Spinelli as he continued on, "Laying right underneath the window outside! Is THAT in you all's jurisdiction?"
With appalled expressions on the two officers faces, Jack shouts, "His motorcycle!?" "Damaged!?" Elias shouts.
"What are you talking about, Drake?" Asks Spinelli, "We didn't receive any information on his motorcycle being damaged."
Donald then directs to those dimwitted officers by pointing toward the window and stating, "But its out the window! Underneath your sight! Its THERE! Out the doggone window!"
Jack and Elias then walk towards the window and have a look outside through it to see for themselves. Not a moment later, they suddenly found Adam's damaged motorcycle right down on the ground in front of their sight.
"Oooooooh!" They both say.
But they still act nonchalant in their ways about it as Officer Muldoon states, "I guess he slipped and fell over, Don."
The Rangers all exchanged expressions of mourn and disappointment while Plato makes a mental note to himself, "Well Rangers, strike what I said. But mark my words, we will get through this and save the young lad. Whatever it takes!"
Donald then snaps back down at the fake documentation. Then with much anger and rage, he fiercely crumples the fake document, and then throws it towards the window blinds of the window inside Spinelli's office behind him.
It then lands down on the floor about ten feet away from the Rangers much to their flinchy reaction among their state of apprehension.
In an extremely annoyed and frustrated manner, Donald shouts to the officers, "You're fired! Everybodys GOD for saken fired!"
The Rangers then all looked at each other with depressed but also a little hysterical expressions too in response as Donald continues on, "This is the SECOND time you all have painted me as a picture of an idiot in action!"
"First you just flat out accuse me and Plato for stealing that clutchcoin ruby despite knowing mucho well that we were innocent by all loyal means, and now what do you do to my son? You just JUMP to this delusional thought from some out of the blue theoretical circumstance, that he just flat out have gotten thrown out of the police force all because of some slip up that caused Professor Nimnul to escape again!"
Donald then slammed his hand on Spinelli's desk much to Thomas' quivering as he infuriatingly directs, "Now you think this is funny? Well, no excuses this time! Because this is my son we are dealing with here! And if there is one thing that I would have always wanted, is to see my boy take place in spot as a Detective in dedication to my retirement! So I DEMAND that you officers go out and investigate on where Adam is, and do it NOW!"
Donald slams his fist on Spinelli's desk after uttering that last word, and then swiftly turns back and walks his way out of the office much to his anger.
In reaction to Donald's scorn, Officers Kirby and Muldoon just retreat a step as they watch the former Detective furiously walk out of Spinelli's office.
"Golly!" Gadget says in a tone of depression while rubbing her tail+, "That poor, Adam."
"I know how you feel, Gadget luv." Monterrey Jack adds in, "We may not have met him yet, but I just know he is a fine lad and dosen't deserve this treatment."
"Well," Chip directs in a low voice, "Its obviously all up to us now." He then tips his fedora down over his eye much to his disappointment in this implausible scenario while Gadget put both of her hands the detective chipmunk's shoulder as she looked on glumly.
Stay tuned next chapter as the Rangers and Plato prepare for duty to investigate on this big mystery up ahead for them, and find Donald Drake's son and rescue him.
