Part Two

Maya was in the back, tending to her friend, while Vic was driving.

"How's she doing, Maya?" Vic asked, concern written all over her face.

"Her vitals are stable, which is good because I'm, I'm really concerned about this bruising," Maya told Vic, trying to swallow back the sobs she wanted to let out.

Vic nodded, agreeing. She didn't like how dark the bruising was getting. "I know."

"Vic, she didn't deserve this." Maya blurted out. "He said the scar on her neck from the wildfire was ugly," Maya told her, and Vic's mouth gaped open.

Andy had barely survived that wildfire. Her scars showed nothing but how strong she is. She went to look for help by herself. Not giving herself a second thought but showing her care for the team she serves with.

Vic sighed and pulled up to the ER. She rushed out of the truck, opened the back of the aid car doors and helped Maya lower Andy down when Meredith, Carina and Maggie rushed out.

"Oh, God," Meredith said. "Alright, let's get her into trauma two."

"Bishop, Hughes. You need to go and wait in the waiting room. We need to work, and we won't be able to focus if you're watching our every move." Maya and Vic wanted to argue but they both knew that their friend needed medical treatment, so they nodded. "I'll come talk to you as soon as I have any updates," Maggie told them.

Maggie walked back into the room. She used the portable ultrasound and scanned it over Andy's chest. She didn't see any internal bleeding, but she did see that Andy had a couple of broken ribs. She passed that information on to Meredith and Meredith went to grab a bandage to wrap around her chest to help make sure Andy wouldn't hurt them any further while Maggie checked Andy's wrists.

"Damn it," Maggie said. Meredith and Carina looked at her. "Both her wrists have bruises, but her left is sprained." Maggie grabbed a tensor bandage and wrapped it around Andy's wrist. "Who the hell did this?" Maggie asked, looking between her sister and the pregnant OB.

"Her boyfriend," Carina told them.

"She's been dating someone?" Meredith asked, surprised. She hated to be out of the loop when she and Andy were talking more often.

Carina nodded. "For the last month. I think."

Meredith frowned and nodded and continued to check over Andy. Wanting to make sure they hadn't missed anything when Amelia walked into the room.

"Hey, anything I can do to help? I just heard she was brought in." Amelia asked, closing the door behind her.

"I think we've covered all her injuries. There was no head trauma. Her wrist is sprained, and she has a couple of broken ribs but other than that, she should be okay." Amelia nodded.

"Want me to go and update her friends?"

Maggie shook her head. "I'll do it," Maggie told her and left the room.

Amelia sighed and looked at Meredith and Carina. She could see the anger all over their faces. "What happened?"

"She was beaten up at the station by her boyfriend," Carina told her. Amelia looked at her sister and could see her face harden.

Amelia frowned but nodded. "I'm going to go check on some other patients. Mer," Amelia called and waited for Meredith to look at her. "let me know if there are any changes?" Meredith nods and Amelia leaves.

Carina looked at Andy and saw the bruise forming on her cheek and her heart broke. Andy didn't deserve to be abused. It seemed like it was just one things after another after another for the women.

While Carina and Meredith were stuck in their thoughts about Andy, Maya and Vic came into the room.

"How's she doing?" Vic asked, walking next to the bed and holding her hand.

"She has a sprained wrist, and a couple of broken ribs but other than that she should be okay," Meredith told the firefighters.

Maya and Vic let out a sigh of relief. Meredith and Carina had left the room, leaving Vic and Maya alone with Andy when there was a knock on the door.

Maya and Vic turn around and see Chief Ross.

"Chief? What are you doing here?" Vic asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"I ran into Montgomery at the station, and he told me what happened," Ross explained. "I just wanted to see how she was doing."

"She has a couple of broken ribs and a sprained wrist. Thankfully no internal bleeding," Maya listed, not taking her eyes off her best friend. She ran a hand over the scar on Andy's neck and was surprised when she felt Andy tense under her touch. "Andy? Andy, you with us?" Maya ran a hand through Andy's hair, hoping to keep her calm. It took a couple more seconds before Andy's eyes began to open. "Hey, beautiful, how do you feel?"

"Don't call me that," Andy said. She opened her eyes, briefly looked at Maya and then looked down at her lap.

"Andy, you know," Maya got cut off.

"I said stop," Andy interrupted, voice cracking.

"Okay." Maya sighed. "Is there anything I can do for you, Andy?" Maya asked, rubbing the back of Andy's hand.

"Did he get arrested?" Andy asked, picking at the blanket.

"He did," Ross told her. "Police still need to talk to you but they're willing to hold off until you're out of the hospital since Travis and Maya saw Adam hurting you."

Maya squeezed Andy's hand and got her to look up at her. "Herrera, You know you always have us, right?" Andy looked down but nodded. "We've got your back, okay? We're going to be right here with you. We're going to help however we can. I promise you won't be alone." Maya told her, leaning forward and kissing Andy's forehead, trying to give her some comfort right now. Andy closed her eyes and when she opened them her eyes were glazed over, and she looked at Maya before looking at Vic and Ross and then back to Maya. "Um, Vic, Ross." Maya looked at the two. "Do you mind if I talk to Andy alone?" Maya asked, clueing into Andy wanting to talk to her alone.

Vic and Ross nodded and walked out of the room while Maya sat down.

"How long?" Maya asked and Andy closed her eyes again. "Andy, how long?"

Andy opened her eyes and a tear fell. "a couple of weeks." Andy mumbled, ashamed for letting it happen to her for so long.

"I'm not going to give you a long-drawn-out speech when you're already beating yourself up, but I'm here, okay? Just know that." Maya told her, rubbing her hand.

"I'm sorry I didn't talk to you sooner, Maya," Andy told her, looking at Maya for the first time.

"Hey, hey. You don't need to be sorry. I get it," Maya tried to reassure Andy, but she could still see the doubt in Andy's eyes. "Okay, scoot over," Maya asked, and even though Andy looked confused she moved over. She winced as she moved over, pain shooting through her chest, but she kept moving until there was room for Maya.

"Maya?" Andy asked once they got settled. Maya hmmed. "Thank you," Andy said and moved to cuddle into Maya, wrapping an arm around her.

"Of course, Andy. I love you, okay? I'm always going to be here for you. The whole station will, okay? We've all got your back, Captain." Maya said and gave Andy another kiss on her forehead. Andy smiled and cuddled further into Maya, glad to have her with her.

"I love you too, Bishop," Andy told her and if possible, moved closer to her.

It was silent between the two women when Andy sniffled, surprising Maya.

"Andy? What is it?" Maya asked, moving Andy's head so she could look her in the eye.

Andy sighed. "I'm just really lucky to have you in my life and I don't want you to forget that, okay? I know I've put you through a lot of shit and I haven't always been the best friend to you."

"Hey, hey, hey. Andy, stop. Stop. Look, all the shit we've gone through together and apart has only made us stronger and nothing will change this bond we have. I'm so lucky to have you in my life too," Maya told her, wiping the tears that were rolling down Andy's cheeks away. "In any universe," Maya started.

"It'd still be me and you." Andy smiled. "I'm so glad I have you, Maya."

"I'm so glad I have you too, Andy," Maya smiled and held Andy as tightly as possible without hurting her.

There was a knock on the door and Andy stiffened in Maya's arms. The two women looked at the door and saw the rest of the station there.

"What are you guys doing here?" Maya asked, still holding Andy in her arms.

"We wanted to come and see how you were doing," Travis told her. "We'll leave if you want but we just wanted to see you."

"We just want you to know how much we care about you," Robert said.

"And that we want you to know that we will always have your backs." Jack said, walking into the room.

Andy smiled slightly. "Thank you for coming and checking in guys," Andy said, trying to hold the emotion in her voice back.

"We've got your back, Andy."
