The two finalists stood across from each other, Goku was doing a few stretches while Jackie Chun was meditating. Ken walked into the arena and began announcing, "So then, before we get underway, let's interview these two." Ken walked up to Goku and held the mic to him, "Contestant Son Goku, what do you think your prospects for winning this match?"
"Prospects? What's that?" He asks confusingly.
"What I mean is, do you believe that you can win?" He tells him.
"I don't know that. All I do is go as hard as I can." He answers before going back to his stretches.
"I see! A most practical answer, befitting such a youngster, indeed!" Ken says. "It is this same unselfishness that must have allowed him to win his way this far!" The crowd lets out a cheer. "Well now, next, let's inquire about contestant Jackie Chun. I believe that in contrast to contrast to Contestant Son, we can expect more austere words from him."
Ken goes up to Jackie to question him only to find him asleep.
"Can Goku win, I wonder...?" Krillin asks his two friends.
"Now that we know that old man isn't Master Roshi, it's at least hopeful that he can win," Yamcha answers.
"Maybe, but you two were easily beaten by that old man, so there's no telling what could happen," Natsu told them.
As the drums began to sound, Goku into his fighting stance, and Jackie Chun woke up getting into a stance of his own.
"Now then, I won't hold back!" Jackie told Goku.
"The same goes for me!" He responded.
"Final round, begin!" Ken yelled.
The gong rang and Jackie lunged toward Goku, but Goku took to the air with his impressive jumping height. Unfortunately, Jackie backflipped after him before delivering a flying kick to his back, knocking him out of the tournament ring.
"Oh no, Goku!" Natsu shouted in worry.
"This is bad! He'll lose by ring-out!" Yamcha exclaimed.
"He can't use Nimbus to bring himself back in!" Krillin said.
"Fool! That's what you get for relaxing after just avoiding an attack!" Jackie explained. "That's why they say carelessness is your worst enemy. Even so, I didn't expect to win so easily."
Ken was getting ready to announce Jackie as the voice shouted out from the crowd, "WAIT! LOOK!" Levy pointed to the sky and the crowd followed suit. They saw Goku flying back into the arena spinning his tail like a helicopter. Goku touched down on the ring before sticking his tongue out at him.
"EH!" Jackie exclaimed. "So you barely escaped because of your tail huh? You've got the luck of a devil!"
"I thought I might use the Kamehameha to fly like you did, but I wanted to save that for later!" Goku explained.
"How impudent of you!" Jackie said in anger. "There's no way you can do a Kamehameha as well as me!"
"Yeah, I can!" Goku fired back.
"What was that?! You're making light of my Kamehameha, aren't you?" Jackie began to cup his hands together at his side. "In that case, I'll show you the power of the Kamehameha I spent so many years developing!"
"Huh? I thought Master Roshi created the Kamehameha." Goku questions.
"T-T-That's right! Sure enough, it is his technique!" Jackie said scratching his head in embarrassment.
"But you just said-"
"Never mind that Kame...ha...me..." Jackie began. Goku began charging one of his own. "HA!" The air tingled with energy and anticipation in those last few moments as the two fighters charged their attacks. They thrust their hands out in unison and blasts of blue-white energy shot from their palms.
The blasts hit each other with tremendous force before bursting apart in a blinding explosion of light that knocked everyone standing on their backs. Goku and Jackie were also knocked away from each other.
"T-That's...impossible...!" Jackie said as Goku grinned. "For him to hold back my Kamehameha with his!
"Awesome Goku!" Bulma cheered.
"You're keeping up with that old guy!" Cana yelled. The crowd continued to cheer at the display of power.
'I-I never thought he would be this good!' Jackie thought. 'Going after Goku frivolously is indeed dangerous! I'll have to think of a strategy.
Goku awaited Jackie's next move, "What kind of attack are you going to do next?"
"If you're going to go so far as to say that, can you take this technique on!?" Jackie's body began to faze as he used the afterimage.
"What, that technique again? Don't you have any other tricks?" Goku began to observe his surroundings to try and find the real Jackie, he threw out a punch only to be met with an afterimage.
"Looking for me?" Jackie said before he kicked Goku into the arena wall breaking it. "How'd you like my double afterimage?" Ken began the count but Goku quickly emerged from the rubble.
"All right, I'm going to do it, too!" Goku began using an afterimage of his own.
"Why you, if all you do is imitate my techniques, do you think I won't be able to see them?" Jackie said before looking around for the boy. He turned to see Goku's double afterimage and turned once again to strike the real one, only to find a third afterimage.
Goku came down from the air and delivered a double axe handle to Jackie's head. "Haha, triple afterimage!" Jackie slowly rose to his feet rubbing his head. "That was pretty good just now, huh? Right?"
"You're pretty good, kid!" Jackie commended. "In that case, how about this?" Jackie got into a stance before he started wobbling around the ring like he was drunk.
"Uh-oh, what could be the matter?" Ken asked. "Contestant Jackie has suddenly become intoxicated! Could yesterday's sale have started taking its effect on him today?
"Hey, are you okay?" Goku asked before Jackie wobbled over to him and whacked him on the head. "Ow! What are you doing?! That hurt!"
"Don't be fooled Goku!" Yamcha yelled. "That's the drunken fist technique, he's pretending to be drunk to attack!"
"Heh heh, figured me out huh?" Jackie said.
Goku tried landing a kick only to be met with an elbow to the back of his head. He tried another just to get hit in the stomach, he couldn't predict any of Jackie's movements. Goku had a plan, he rushed to the edge of the ring and his body started trembling. He turned towards Jackie with the look of a rabid animal and dashed like an animal making him flinch, thanks to the distraction Goku was able to jump over him and kick him towards the arena wall.
Jackie slowly rose grabbing his head, "Oww, wh-what was that move?" He asked the boy.
"The Mad Dog Fist!" Goku answers with a laugh.
"It's an incredible exchange of techniques!" Ken announces. "This is a fantastic battle, worthy of the final round! However, at this point, Contestant Son has been able to stay one step ahead, no matter what happens, which has proved to make for a somewhat difficult fight for Contestant Jackie!
"Get carried away with yourself, will you? All right..." Jackie began strangely waving his hands. "Sleep, sleep, young one... Nighty-night to you. Sonny, be a good boy now... Off to bed with you..."
Goku's eyelids began to grow heavy until he fell asleep and fell to the tile floor. "No, he fell asleep!" Natsu exclaimed.
"I've won, now I suggest you start counting Sonny," Jackie told Ken.
"Are you sure? It feels kinda anticlimactic for the tournament to just end like this." Ken said.
"Is that my concern?" Jackie asked. "It's his rotten luck for falling for such a technique so easily! Now stop complaining, and start counting!"
"R-Right! 1...2...3"
"He's going to lose like this!" Puar said.
"Come on Goku wake up!" Bulma yelled.
"Wake up, Goku! Wake up!" Yamcha yelled as well.
"You're going to lose Goku!" Krillin shouted.
'Somehow, I've managed to win.' Jackie thought. 'This makes it worth going to the trouble of disguising myself and entering. Goku will know there's always bigger fish, and apply himself more and more to his training.'
Ken counted to eight and Goku wasn't showing any signs of waking up. "I've got it! Son-Kun! It's time for dinner!" Bulma yelled. Goku's tail sprang up and the boy woke up looking for his dinner. The crowd cheered and the fight continued.
Goku jumped into the air towards Jackie, "Jan-Ken Rock!" Goku threw a fist which was blocked along with his scissors and paper strikes. "Huh? My Jan-Ken didn't work!"
"I can't see through all of your Jan-Ken techniques!" Jackie told him.
"But Jan-Ken was Grandpa's technique. Alright, try this, Jan-Ken, Paper!!" Goku made a fist instead of a palm strike and struck Jackie in the face.
"Jackie is down!" Ken said. "Truly, a fight worthy of the final round of the Tenkaichi Budokai! Even the sun has begun to set due to the length of this battle!"
'It can't be avoided. I'll have to use that technique I had been saving." Jackie thought to himself. "It's risky, but knowing Goku, he shouldn't die.'
"All right! I'm going to win this, and then stuff myself with food!" Goku said.
"Unfortunately for you, you will lose this match. This will be settled very soon." Jackie said before rolling up his sleeves. "There was only one other man who made me use this technique on him, his name was Son Gohan who according to you is your grandfather."
"Y-You've fought against my grandpa before?" Goku said in disbelief.
Jackie clasped his hands together as the crowd watched in anticipation, his hands began to glow with sparks of green lighting. He aimed at Goku and shouted, "Lighting... Flash... Surprise Attack!" Goku was hit dead on and lifted in the air screaming in pain. "Just give up Goku not even Gohan survived for this long!"
"N-No way...I...ain't...giving up!" Goku said before struggling to stick his tongue out. That's when Jackie put more power into his attack causing Goku to scream louder.
"I've heard of this move it the user's energy and converts it into several tens of thousands of volts of current!" Yamcha told his two friends. "Goku doesn't stand a chance!"
"Are you kidding!? I know Goku can get out of this!" Natsu tried to argue.
"Open your eyes Natsu!" Krillin yelled. "There's no way Goku can get out of this!
Natsu continued to stare in anticipation thinking Goku would be able to do something. He then heard Oolong tell Goku to give, then Puar, even his new friends from Fairy were telling him to tap out. Even Bulma! And she had as much fate as he did. 'Maybe Krillin's right. This looks like too much for even Goku.' Natsu thought.
"F-Fine...I...G-Give...U-" Goku started to say before he looked up into the sky and saw the full moon. The sounds of the crowd and his friends were drowned by the intense beating in his chest. His eyes turned red and he felt a power growing inside him but before he could savor it his mind went blank.
Everyone watched in horror as Goku's body began to change. His body became bigger as fur covered him, Goku has once again transformed.
"That's not good." Natsu gulped.
"It's the full moon!" Yamcha realized.
"W-What is this Contestant Son has turned into a giant ape!" Ken said fearfully. "What on earth is that technique!?"
"I thought the boy didn't have magic?" Makarov asked Bulma.
"Even if he does, Take-Over Magic of this caliber isn't easy to control," Mira said.
"It's not magic!" Bulma yelled. "I don't even know what it is, all I know is whenever Goku looks at a full moon he turns into that!"
"What is he some kind of werewolf?" Gray asked sarcastically.
"More of a were-monkey in this case," Cana said.
Goku continued his rampage destroying the tournament building and tossing debris around. "This is dangerous! However, owing to my position as a referee, it will not do for me to run away!" Ken yelled shielding himself from any debris.
"You think you have it bad if I leave the ring, I'll lose!" Jackie said in fear.
The fighting trio rushed out of the way of Goku's destruction, "Goku! Don't you think you're taking too far?" Krillin said. "You'll hurt somebody!" The ape glared at Krillin before punching more debris which the trio moved out of the way of.
"It's no use, when Goku looks at the full moon the only thing on his mind is destroying things!" Yamcha explained to Krillin.
"Oh well isn't that great?" Krillin said.
Jackie looked towards the rampaging ape, "I guess that means there's only one way to solve this problem!" Jackie dodged another one of Goku's massive stomps. "All right, at this point, it can't be avoided!" Jackie said before throwing his coat to the side.
The trio ran towards the rest of their friends to think of a plan, "Yamcha why don't you cut off his tail like last time!" Natsu said.
"You're right, Puar, get ready to turn into a pair of scissors again!" Yamcha said to his furry companion.
"I'm on it!" He said.
"Hang on I think the old man has a plan of his own!" Oolong pointed towards Jackie. The group watched as he bulked himself up becoming a lot more built than the old man they saw fighting before.
"Kamehameha, highest output! Max power!!" Jackie yelled.
"He can't!" Yamcha exclaimed. "He's planning to kill Goku to put down the uproar!" Yamcha ran towards Jackie to try and get him to halt his attack, but it was too late.
"Ka...me...ha...me...HA!" The beam launched towards the mountain-sized monkey, the force of which pushed everyone close enough back with its blinding power.
As everything calmed down the giant monkey was gone.
"W-Where's Goku?" Natsu asked worriedly.
Everyone looked around but their friend wasn't anywhere to be found. Has Son Goku met his end?
"It's not true!!" Krillin tried his best to deny that his friend was gone. "Goku dying-- it's not true!!"
Bulma began to tear up as well as Yamcha comforted her, Puar and Oolong were in the same boat. Natsu just stared in disbelief at the empty arena, not believing his eyes. The rest of the group from Fairy Tail were saddened as well despite not knowing the boy for very long.
"Don't be upset. You should look over there." Jackie said as he pointed towards the rubble, revealing a naked Goku.
The group's looks suddenly brightened, "Goku! He's alive!" Natsu said.
"Goku wasn't the target of my Kamehameha wave..." Jackie said before pointing to the sky. "That was!"
Everyone looked up only to find that the sky was lacking a moon. It was just gone!
"T-There's nothing there!" Ken said in shock. "The sky! It's been...de-mooned! It's gone!"
"It's unlikely that Goku will ever see the full moon and transform into that monster again," Jackie explained.
"T-This is the most outrageous thing you've done!" Ken said. "What are we going to do now for moon viewing? Werewolves won't be able to transform, there won't be any more elegance tastefulness, or anything!
"He's right you know!" Levy shouted. "Not to mention it'll affect the tides and serious environmental effects!"
"Stop your griping and count, would you?!" Jackie shouted to Ken before pointing to Levy. "I also didn't ask for a know-it-all."
As Ken started to count Goku woke up from his unconsciousness. "Huh? Where did my clothes go?"
The crowd cheered as Goku got to his feet, Ken was about to resume the match but quickly told Goku to get some clothes on. Krillin offered him his gi and changed into his regular clothes. "You know, you really are one strange guy," Krillin said. "When did you start becoming that monster?"
"Monster?" Goku questioned.
"You don't even know yourself?" Krillin asked surprised. "Well, no matter. You won't change again, and all... In any case, good luck! Just a little bit further!"
"He's a strange one..." Goku said as he walked towards the arena. "Never mind him, why is everything so busted up? It looks like a typhoon came through.
"And so, Contestant Son has come back! The match continues!" Ken shouts.
"Alright, this time. I'm going to win for sure! Goku got into his stance until his stomach started growling. "I'm hungry."
"You've left yourself open!" Jackie yelled. "This Kamehameha will finish you off!" Jackie launched his hands forward, but nothing happened. Unfortunately Jackie used up his energy blowing up the moon.
Goku used this to his advantage and launched a Kamehameha at Jackie who jumped high to dodge it. Goku expected this and jumped towards him delivering a kick to his abdomen. Jackie was nearly knocked out of the ring but he was able to indent his foot in the wall of the ring.
Jackie got back onto the ring and stared Goku down, "The force of your Kamehameha has also disappeared." He explained. "Apparently, due to your fatigue and hunger, your power is almost gone. That means that both of us have now used up our techniques. Now it'll come down to who's the strongest."
"The strongest one wins!" Goku agreed before they both took their fighting stances. The crowd was at the edge of their seats anticipating the next move of each fighter.
Mezase Tenkaichi
"Incredible! Incredible!" Ken started. "Already, nearly four hours have gone by since the start of the match!"
Jackie sprinted forward and threw an elbow strike that Goku leaped over. He spun around and lashed out with his tail at him like a whip and Jackie hopped back to avoid it. Goku landed on his feet and tried to press his attack with a forward charge but Jackie saw it coming and flipped over him as he passed and threw a backward kick to hit him in the back of the head. Goku rolled over forward with the impact and spun around to face Jackie as he came head-on.
Jackie threw out a series of lightning-fast jabs that Goku ducked and weaved under before driving his shoulder into Jackie's gut. He flew backward as Goku followed up with a high kick that caught Jackie under the chin and sent him up into the air. He followed him up, with about a fifteen-foot vertical leap before he locked both fingers together and brought them down on Jackie's back. Before Jackie could slam into the stones with something approaching at terminal velocity, he threw out his hands pushed himself back up into the air with a kiai, and flipped backwards to land safely on his feet. Goku whizzed by his head a few seconds later with the intent of smashing his feet into him. Before he could even recognize the fact, Jackie wasn't where he'd expected him to be however, he drove a dropkick into Goku's face that sent him staggering back. The two paused for a moment in a stalemate as the crowd roared.
"A truly grave battle!" Ken announced. "It is a contest between men who have surpassed their strengths!"
Goku sprinted at Jackie and fired back with rapid-fire strikes of his own. For every ten he managed to block three more got through the boy's blows were liking hit by a car! Jackie and Goku traded strikes all across the ring, bobbing and weaving and blocking. Goku would land a kick to Jackie's side, which would be met with a knee to the gut by the old man, the boy followed up with a punch to the face as Jackie sent a palm strike to his. The two fighters were breathing hard, it seemed neither would be stopping soon.
'It's time I finish him off' Jackie thought. 'If I don't end this he's going to keep getting beaten to death! However, how will I finish him? His small body! That's it!
"All right! Let's go! This is where it ends, Goku!" Jackie told the boy. The two of them leaped at each other with a flying kick, they sailed through the air before their feet crashed into each other's chins. Both fighters dropped to the ground like birds that had been shot out of the sky.
"Both of them have been knocked out! It's a double knock-down!" Ken yelled. He began counting as Goku and Jackie struggled to get up, in the end, neither of them could get up before ten. "Neither of them have risen to their feet. However, there are no ties in the finals of the tournament! In this event, whoever stands up and announces they're the champion will be the winner!"
eventually, Goku moved. It was slow in painful. His whole body was sore. All he wants to do is take a nap. But that will have to wait, first, he had to win. Goku began rising into his feet as he heard his friends, encouraging him to get up.
"I..." he said slowly. it hurt to even talk, but he had to press forward, "I am..." He threw back his head and screamed with all his might, "I am the champio-" but his strength failed him and Goku collapsed onto his back. Defeated by a single syllable. Then it was Jackie's turn. He looked down at his student with pride as he tried to push himself up even though he had no strength left to move a muscle.
"I..." Jackie said before he took a deep breath and broke into a grin. He had to put on a show despite the pain. "I am the champion!" He crowed victoriously. He threw his hands into two peace signs as the crowd cheered, "I am the champion! I am the champion!" Jackie- no, Roshi looked at Goku with a smile, "You've done your master proud today." Goku gave a small smile.
"It has been a magnificent match!" Ken said. "Indeed, we were shown a hotly contested battle worthy of determining who is Tenkaichi at this tournament!" The crowd cheered for the two competitors as Jackie was handed his prize money.
Goku went up to Jackie, "Old man, you were stronger after all!"
"You fought well, too." Jackie commended.
"Say, once I train more and get stronger, will you fight me again? Goku asked.
"Sure I will," Jackie answered.
Goku met up with the rest of his friends as Natsu and Krillin helped him walk since he was still recovering. "You boys fought well, you truly showed true spirit out there!" Makarov told the boys.
"Thanks, gramps!" Natsu appreciated. "I wonder where Master Roshi is though."
Speak of the devil Roshi came over to the group as he congratulated his students on getting so far in the tournament. "It's too bad though, if he hadn't been hungry Goku would've won!" Krillin said.
"Nah, even if I hadn't gotten hungry I think I would have lost," Goku explained. "That guy was ridiculously tough!"
"Mm-hmm, that's right!" Roshi said. "There's always a bigger fish in the world! There are still plenty of strong guys out there! The road of the martial arts is not so forgiving. Your real training begins now!"
The three students nodded. "Now then what do you say we all get some grub, my treat." The group got excited as Goku started drooling like a rabid animal. He was seriously hungry.
Once they found a nice restaurant Goku began cleaning the house and wolfing down stacks of dishes, Natsu following close behind. The sight of the two boys feasting left the group in awe. Even when Natsu got full, Goku kept going until he was finally satisfied. The cashier totaled the amount of orders and gave Roshi the bill, "That'll be 470,000 zeni." The cashier said.
Roshi's jaw dropped in dismay, "But... but that's almost all my prize money!" Roshi begrudgingly paid the bill as the group headed to their hotel rooms to call it a night. The Tenkaichi Budokai had come to an end.
Man, I took way too long to bring this chapter out, but I did it. Now next up is the arc of our favorite recurring army.
The poll has also come to an end and Erza won with eight votes. So when the time comes Goku will end up with her. I'll also be awaiting the chapter where I'll have to break Chi-Chi's heart. :)
Oh, I've also decided I would add a few of the insert songs when certain events happen. This chapter had Mezase Tenkaichi who played in the original Japanese version of Goku vs Jackie Chun so I hope liked that.
