Chapter 4

It was quite a long and confusing walk to the cafeteria, but thankfully there were direction signs around the hallways to show Miho around, plus she could also follow where a good amount of the other students which she assumed were also new like her. But she finally arrived and began to look around for a place to sit down. After finding a spot, she notices the room slowly filling up, and most of the students she noticed appeared to primarily be in the year lower than hers but also in the same year as her too. She didn't know whether they were in fact second years like her or they just appeared that way physically to her.

As the doors closed and lights began to slightly dim, she could see people getting up onto a stage where a podium sat centered. After apparently everyone on stage had assembled, they called the students to order. A slightly old looking balding man took to the podium and spoke, "greetings to all you new students, I am Jack Granger, I'm am the principal of the Global Defense Academy, I'd like to personally welcome you all to this school, before my colleague and good friend introduces himself and this school in a short while, I will give you a rundown of how your first week will be and what to expect to not only ensure you have a smooth year now as well as in the future if you continue to attend here. Firstly, after this orientation, you will report to your first period class where you will receive a temporary daily schedule, I say temporary since as you will soon see, not all of your classes would already be assigned to you, while your core classes would've already been assigned based on both your performance in previous years as well as your preference for course types, your elective classes and such have not. For today and tomorrow, you will be presented with said courses and for your third through fifth days you will be given the opportunity to pick your electives for the current year, in addition you will also be given the option to join clubs or extracurricular organizations that may or may not be linked to courses you will be taking. I expect you all to take this opportunity very seriously and use it to not only ensure that you graduate, but to also set the stage for your future lives and or careers you hope to pursue after graduation. I'll now turn the mic over to my colleague Dr. Boyle."

As Principal Granger stepped down from the mic, another man, seemingly younger and taking out what looked like a remote out from inside his jacket took his place. "Hello everybody," he said in a cheery voice, almost like an announcer at a sports game. "My name is Dr. Redmond Boyle, I am the director and official representative for the Global Defense Academy or GDA for short, here at GDA, we seek to promote high education, adult life preparation and good old-fashion fun. We encourage all our students to keep an open mind, broaden their horizons, and above all else to try and bond with everyone, after all wouldn't be more exciting to share the highs and lows of life with the other people around you." Everyone in the audience cheered, clearly agreeing with what Dr. Boyle had to say; even though Miho didn't cheer she still smiled and applauded. "Also, I'm a tad bit curious," Dr. Boyle said, "how many of you came from schools over in the mainland?" Miho knew what he was talking about, although she hadn't spent much time there, she knew that was another continent in the Pacific that she didn't even know existed until recently, her new parents took her there to not only see her new home, but to also take her and her new friends on that joyful trip to the amusement park. Most of the students on the sides raised their hands, "ah, there you all are," Dr. Boyle remarked, pointing at both side groups. "Well everyone here brace yourselves cuz I have some very intriguing news, we actually recently received a massive influx of new students from Oorarai Girls Academy, speaking of which where are all my new students right now?" Just like before another group of students in the center front began to cheer and raise their hands. "First of all, let me give you all my apologies about your school, but I assure you that GDA will almost certainly be just as fun, no even more fun for you all." The Oorari students cheered even more.

Afterwards, they dismissed everyone to attend their classes and get their schedules. After exiting, Miho quickly made her way to her classroom, room 1010. After finding the room she decided to take the seat to the front right corner. She took a quick look around the room, while she was a bit disheartened that she wouldn't have anyone she already knew in class with her she remained hopeful nonetheless. As the bell rang, signaling class had officially begun, the teacher stood up from her desk, "alright students, I'm going to be handing out your schedules. But why don't we don't take the opportunity to introduce ourselves and get to know each other a little, so starting from the front right of the room, you say your name and come up to my desk, after you get your schedule, you'll then tell us a little about yourself."

As the class agreed, Miho realized that she would have to be first, she was both nervous and eager about the sudden arrangement. When the teacher looked at her and asked, "why don't you start us off?"
Standing up, Miho quickly introduced herself, "my name is Miho Nishizumi McNeil."
