Chapter 9

The rest of the week seemed to go along smoothly for Miho. The next few days have been pretty much similar in terms of routine: wake up, get ready for school, head over to school, attend class with Saori and Hana, meet up with Annelien and head over to the field to practice and get acquainted with the rest of the members of the armored corps (even Animal Mother decided to join in and become more involved to the surprise of everyone), head back to her dorm and finish the rest of her homework and maybe watch some cartoons, get ready for and then head to bed. Before she knew it the last day of the week was already here. As she arrived to meet with Hana and Saori before class, they decided to talk about what their new schedule would look like since they would be getting their new full schedules today.

"So what electives did you two decide on?" asked Miho.

"Well, I decided on the armored corps and interpersonal studies," Saori said proudly.

"Nice," Miho praised, glad that her friend would be joining her in the armored corps. "I'm curious about why you picked interpersonal studies," she admitted.

"She thinks that course would somehow help her find a boyfriend," Hana explained. "But that course only studies the effects of relationships, not making you better at finding and making them," she pointed out.

"What," Saori says surprised. "Aw man, and I was really getting my hopes up too," she pouted.

Miho couldn't help but chuckle, "anyways, what about you Hana?" she asks.

"Oh, as well as the armored corps as well, I'm thinking about also having an off period as well," Hana answered.

"Wait you can do that?" Saori asked shocked.

"Yeah, it's called personal career dev AM or PM," Hana answered. "Essentailly you can either take the 1st or last period off," she further elaborated. "I'm gonna take the afternoon one so I can help my mother with my flower arrangement."

"Wow, your family does flower arrangement, that's so cool," Miho complimented. "But so that you know, the armored corps has practice everyday after school, so please make sure you can attend practice on time, or if you can't attend on a day or are gonna be late please let me know beforehand okay."

Hana nodded in agreement with Miho's request, "what about you Miho?" She asked.

"Well," Miho started, "I decided to go with home ec."

"Wait so like you're gonna learn things that you'll do when you live in your own right?" Saori asked. Miho nodded in response.

"Yeah," Miho answered. "After what happened with my original family, I wanted to make sure that I could at least be able to take care of myself," she explained.

"Well, I guess that is understandable," Hana said. "I'd hate to imagine if something like that were to happen to me," she added, shuttering.

As they arrived in their home room class and received their new schedules, they hoped that they would be in more than one class together.

"What's your schedule say Miporin?" Saroi asked.

"Um," Miho tried to answer while still reading her schedule. "It seems like I have writing and composition for first period, home ec after that, homeroom, armored corps just before lunch, chemistry right after lunch, advanced algebra after that, pre-modern/modern history, and ending the day with computer applications." Miho listed off her schedule. "What about you two?" she asks Saori and Hana.

"Well," Saori started looking at her schedule. "Looks like I have interpersonal studies first thing, followed by history, homeroom, armored corps," she began to read off as her face began to light up. "Awesome, it looks like you and I have homeroom and armored corps together Miporin." She cheered. Looking away from her schedule and over to Hana, "Hana what are your third and fourth period classes?" Saori asked.

Looking at her schedule, Hana grinned, "Seems like I'll be sharing homeroom and armored corps with you two as well."

Saori cheered, "YEAH, we'll be taking classes and lunch together simultaneously, amazing."

Smiling, Miho asked, "Well what is your schedule like after lunch, Saori?"

Looking back at her own schedule again, Saori continued to list off her remaining classes, "well, after lunch I have algebra, chemistry after that, computer applications and finally literary understanding."

Both girls then looked at Hana signaling that it was her turn to describe what her daily schedule would look like, "oh, okay, well first I start with chemistry, then I have writing and composition, then I have homeroom and armored corps class with you two and lunch, then I have computer applications, algebra after that, history, artistic theory is my last class and I have eighth period off." She finished listing off her classes.

Saori pouted, "I still can't believe you managed to get a period off."

"I show you how to find it so you can have it on your schedule for next year, ok." Hana offered, hoping to at least make Saroi less jealous

"I suppose that's true," Saori sighed, defeated.

Just then the bell rang and everyone began to file out of the classroom.

"Well armored corps should be our next class," Hana stated.

"Yep," Miho confirmed.

"Have you met the armored corps instructor yet?" Saori asked.

"No," Miho answered shaking her head. "I think he or she mostly stayed in their office working on the new curriculum for this school year especially if it is true if the corps would be receiving a lot of new students." She gave her best possible explanation.

As the three girls head outside the main building to head out for the armored corps classroom in a small trailer deployed outside a garage building which housed the tanks. On the way, Miho senses that they aren't alone. Turning around, she at first sees no one behind them, but then she notices a piece of familiar brown trying to hide behind a nearby tree. Realizing who has been trailing them, she calls out "Yukari, I know you're there, you can come out from behind that tree now."

Miho could hear a sharp gasp and the hair suddenly twitch in surprise. Yukari then came out from her hiding spot and approaches the three girls, "how did you guess that it was me," she asks, nervously chuckling?

"I could tell your hair apart from that tree even in the shade," Miho explains. "And besides," she adds, "there's no need to be shy around me, it's not the first time we met each other, right," she adds.

Yukari just chuckles nervously, "I know but I can't help it. You're just so amazing that I can't help but be nervous when I'm in your presence commander." She says, keeping her hands clasped and slightly bowing to Miho.

Saori and Hana, having stopped when they saw Miho stop and turn around, became curious about what was going on, "do you know her Miporin?" she asks Miho.

Miho nods, "yeah, we met around two months ago during MLS," she elaborates.

"ML-what," Saori asks confused.

"It stands for Military Leadership Seminar," Yukari explains. "If you want to climb the ranks of any of the military prep clubs, then you pretty much need to attend in order to gain leadership experience," she explained.

Deciding to quickly check her phone, Saori slightly gasps in surprise. "Shoot we only have two minutes till the next period starts." She cries out before turning around and starts running. The other three girls quickly take off after her hoping to make it in time for their next class together.
