Chapter 1
Solstheim - Morndas 17 of Last Seed of 202 of the Fourth era
Edzard's day had started quietly. He had risen at dawn and donned his Morag Tong armor, which was a black variant of chitinous light armor. This armor is made of Necth leather with plates made from the chitin of the ash jumpers, which was reinforced with a special resin. After dressing he had gone to the shaman's hut. He had gone there for breakfast and to talk to Frea.
"So, Frea, do you think Solstheim will return to normal, now that Miraak's influence is gone?"
Frea is a Nord woman. She had the typical Nord appearance, that is, blond hair with blue eyes. She wore armor carved with an eagle pattern on the shoulder pads.
"Yes, Ed. I think Solstheim and the Skaal's will return to relative normalcy." Frea commented as she sipped a cup of mead.
Edzard listened to his friend as he drank a cup of canine root tea, as he did not drink alcohol in the morning.
"Although, I do not know how long this can be maintained. I feel in my bones that a new great calamity is approaching."
Edzard sighed. While he had stopped Alduin, Harkon, and Miraak, the world could still be in danger. It is not known when a madman could obtain a powerful artifact with which to threaten life on Tamriel. There could also be a Daedric invasion, although it was highly unlikely as the barrier that was erected after Martim Septim's sacrifice separated Nirm from Oblivion. That left the event that would come true yes or yes. The second great war between the Empire and the Aldmeri Dominion . A war that would cause heavy losses for both sides.
When breakfast was finished, Edzard left Frea's house and went to the great hall of the Village. After collecting his supplies, he headed over to the horse he had rented. The horse was a palomino horse.
Putting all his belongings, which consisted of an enchanted bag where he stored supplies of food and water, the gold and objects he obtained from his adventures, a tent and two sleeping bags.
"Good luck on your journey. And may the creator protect you. " Frea said approaching Edzard and giving him a hug.
Edzard responded to the hug. To later speak when they separated. "Thank you, Frea. And may the nine not allow the Thalmor to attack your people again."
Climbing onto the horse, Edzard took the reins and with a movement of his legs made the horse begin to walk. His travel plan was to go along the coast, then pass near Thirsk's Mead Hall. And in this way continue advancing to a nearby mountain, where he would make a camp to spend the night.
The stars were already lighting up the night sky when Edzard had reached a clearing near a mountain. He had decided to make his camp there. So, he took the tent out of him and set it up near a fire that he had previously made. He placed his sleeping bag on the ground and tied his horse to a stake that he had driven near his tent.
After eating his dinner, which consisted of some mead with dried meat strings and two loaves, Edzard lay down on his sleeping bag. He stayed awake for a while longer, until he finally fell asleep.
Solstheim - Tirdas 18 of the Last Seed of 202 of the Fourth era
The sun was high up as Asia Argento walked through a wasteland of ash. Opening her eyes, not feeling the pain from the impact, she realized that she was no longer in her hometown.
'Where am I?' Thought a very confused Asia as she walked through the desert of ash and sand.
When she had opened her eyes she had realized that she was on the side of a mountain. The mountain was high enough to allow her to visualize the sea. Looking closer, she observed that near the foot of the mountain was a lake and that a little further in that direction was a river.
So she decided to walk in that direction, hoping to find some sign of civilization. Unfortunately, she couldn't find anything, and she had already walked for several hours. His body was beginning to show slight signs of dehydration, as she had nothing to eat or drink.
'I must find a place to drink water soon.' Asia thought. She was so lost in her thoughts that she did not notice that the ash she had passed through was beginning to move.
Asia stopped when she heard some growls. She slowly turned her body to see what she passed by. When she looked in that direction she could see several humanoid beings that appeared to be made of ashes. These beings were armed with what appeared to be axes and short spears, all made of ash.
"Hello, could you tell me where I am?" asked Asia. Being the innocent person that she was, Asia tried to start a conversation with them. Unfortunately, they did not respond verbally, but instead began to growl as they approached her.
Asia started to back away slowly when she saw that they didn't mean well. From one moment to the next, she turned and began to run as fast as her legs would allow.
"Help! Please someone help me!" Asia yelled as she escaped from his assailants.
As she ran, she felt something brush his face. She turned her head to find out what had been thrown at her, and there he realized it was a ball of fire.
As she kept running, she did not realize that she was approaching the lake that she had seen from the side of the mountain. Being a few meters from reaching the lake, a fireball impacted very close to her and caused an explosion. The explosion sent Asia flying away and falling several meters away from her old position. Asia tried desperately to get back up, but the explosion had hurt her and her body ached. Also, her vision was blurry and she looked like she was about to pass out.
"Help ..." was Asia's desperate whisper as she closed her eyes and began to pray to the biblical god. However, she opened her eyes again when she heard a muffled growl.
His eyes could see a shadow kill the beings that had been chasing it. Unfortunately, she couldn't see much as unconsciousness ended up claiming her.
Edzard had awakened at dawn. He had had a few strings of dried meat for breakfast with a bread
and an apple. After having breakfast he decided to continue his journey. So, he got on his horse and started traveling. He had decided to travel slowly, as he was in no rush to get to Raven Rock.
He had already traveled a considerable distance and was approaching a lake. Lake that was located near a ruined trading post of the Eastern Empire Company. His plan was to take advantage of the lake and recharge its water reserves, in addition to taking the opportunity to water the poor horse that was with him. Since the poor animal had not drunk water properly since they left Skaal Village.
When he was near the shore of the lake he heard a scream. From the tone of voice, the scream belonged to a woman. Wasting no time, he spurred him horse to search for the source of the scream.
When he reached the area where the scream had originated, he could see a group of six ash spawns chasing a girl. Knowing well the dangerousness of these beings, he decided to intervene. So, he quickly dismounted and chorus to help the girl. As he ran, he drew his sword.
When he was close, he could see how the girl flew off thanks to the explosion of a fireball. to see that, he increased the speed of his run when he saw how they were going to kill the girl, who was now on the ground.
Quickly Edzard extended his left hand and conjured an ice spear. The ice spear swept the distance between Edzard and the ash spawn. The spear ended up hitting the head of the ash spawn that was about to kill the girl on the ground. This action caught the attention of the remaining ash spawn, who stopped paying attention to the girl and turned to face him.
The ash spawn loomed menacingly, but Edzard was unfazed. While they were dangerous and powerful in their own right, Edzard was even more dangerous and powerful than they.
When the spawns got close enough, Edzard charged them. He quickly beheaded the first one when he was within reach of his sword. The second spawn tried to stab him with his spear, but Edzard dodged the attack and quickly stabbed his sword into the spawn. The third and fourth tried to attack him simultaneously, but Edzard dodged the blow and joining his arms in X began to gather magic. Small lightning bolts began to erupt from his body as magic began to surround Edzard. When he released the spell, an explosion of lightning erupted from Edzard's body. This blast struck the remaining spawn, which, ironically, were reduced to ashes.
Seeing his enemies down, Edzard sheathed his sword and ran towards the girl. When he got to her side, he could see that she was unconscious and that she had signs of dehydration and heat stroke, in addition to that she had burns on the back of her dress, which was torn in places.
Wasting no time, Edzard began to heal the girl. His hands glowed with golden light as the girl's wounds began to heal. Fortunately, the girl's injuries were superficial, just a few blows and nothing more. When he finished healing her, he decided to build a temporary shelter.
So, with a whistle, Edzard called for his horse. When the horse arrived, Edzard took the tent from him and set it up, after that he put the two sleeping bags inside. Then he took the girl in her arms and carried her, and then placed her in one of her bags to sleep. After that, he went to get some firewood. When he returned, he created a small campfire, boiled water in a pot, and began preparing a simple dinner. Edzard decided to prepare another portion of food, after all the girl could wake up at any moment and she could be hungry.
Asia's eyes began to widen as a faint smell of food reached her nostrils.
"Where I am?" Asia wondered. In that moment she remembered what had happened before she passed out. She quickly got up and looked at herself from all sides. She let out a sigh when she saw that she wasn't hurt. Looking around her, she could see that she was in what appeared to be a tent. So, she slowly got up and left.
When she was outside the tent, she could see that it was night and that near a campfire there was a person dressed in black armor.
"Hello." Greeted Asia, thus calling the attention of the stranger.
"Jeg ser at du er våken. (I see you already woke up.)" Said the stranger turning to see her.
Asia blinked, not understanding a single word.
"Excuse me, what did you say?" asked Asia again.
"Jente, jeg forstår deg ikke Kan du ikke snakke det tamilske språket? (Girl, I don't understand you. Can't you speak Tamrielic language?) "
Asia began to worry and at the same time to despair. She could not communicate with who she had possibly saved her life. She began to think, until she remembered that she spoke another language.
"I said hello. Can you understand me?" asked Asia in Latin.
The stranger did not reply for a moment. That worried Asia a lot, since apparently her great idea of speaking in another language did not work. She started to get depressed, but then she heard something that amazed her.
"Hello… I… can… understand… you." Answered the stranger, but his voice sounded very forced, besides it was notable that he could not speak Latin well.
Asia blinked and then smiled. Apparently, her plan had worked.
"Thanks god. My name is Asia Argento. " Asia introduced herself with a smile on her face. "What is your name?"
"I… call… myself… Edzard Rolandson." Edzard introduced himself, at the same time that he raised his left hand and created a ball of light.
Asia stared in amazement at the ball of light that Edzard had created. She had heard about magic, but she had never seen it. The light allowed her to see that Edzard was wearing black armor that appeared to be made from animal shells. The light made her realize that he was about half a head taller than her, yet she couldn't see him face as the helmet covered him completely.
'Looks like I ran into a wizard.' Asia thought. But before she could say anything, she saw Edzard begin to remove his helmet.
Her eyes widened and she felt her cheeks flush when she saw Edzard's face. If the standards of beauty of the earth were followed, Edzard would be considered very handsome. His face had no trace of childish fat. His hair was black, the same shade as a sky without moon or stars. His eyes were heterochromatic, the left being a steel gray and the right an emerald green. Both eyes had a peculiarity, their pupils were like those of a reptile.
"You… must… close… your… mouth… or… flies… can… get… in." Edzard said as he put on a smile.
Asia blushed more and started to stutter, causing Edzard to start laughing. However, the laughter died when a growl was heard. The growl caused Edzard to bring he right hand to the handle of his sword.
While Edzard seemed to scan the area, Asia wanted the earth to swallow her up. That was because the growl was not coming from any creature, but was her stomach.
"Edzard, you won't have some food?" asked Asia.
Edzard looked at Asia and began to blink. After blinking he started laughing. Edzard's laugh made Asia blush.
"Yes… I… have… food…. Come… I'll… make… an… extra… portion… just… for… you. " Edzard said when he finished laughing.
Asia was glad to hear that. So she followed Edzard, who had walked over to the campfire and had taken the pot that was on it. With the help of a ladle, Edzard served a plate of food, which he handed over to Asia.
'Is this a stew? Asia thought relieved when she received the plate. She was worried, as she did not know what kind of food they would eat here. She had once heard that there were places where they ate insects and it had caused her to almost throw up her lunch that day.
Asia began to eat calmly, when she saw something appear in her field of vision. Looking up from her plate, she saw that it was a canteen. Taking it, she Asia began to drink as if there was a tomorrow. When finished her canteen, Edzard gave her another. In the end she had had three full canteens.
It was already dark and Edzard was sitting near the fire. He had eaten his dinner not long ago. Dinner had been a venison stew with potatoes and roasted leeks. He had decided to bring down the food with a drink of mead. He decided not to drink anymore because he should have his senses as alert as possible. Although he had created a barrier to protect the area, he could still be attacked.
'Where is this girl from?' Thought Edzard. And the thing is that the clothes she wore were not something he had seen. The fabric was weird to begin with, and the design even weirder. He had never seen such clothing in any of the places he had visited, not even in the books he had read.
"Ahhh ... well, that doesn't matter." Said Edzard after sighing.
The girl had been asleep since noon. It was already night, but he didn't know what time it would be. This is because the barrier that Edzard had erected completely blocked the view of the night sky.
"Ciao. (Hello)"
Edzard turned his head when he heard the girl's voice. The darkness created by the barrier makes it impossible for Edzard to see the girl's features well. Even though he had healed her, he had it so fast that he hadn't paid attention to the girl's features. After he placed her in the tent, he had dedicated himself to creating the barrier and cooking dinner. So he had been outside all this time.
Between them they tried to start a conversation, but she spoke a language that he did not know. So he asked her if she could speak the Tamil language, but she didn't seem to know it. he had begun to resign himself until she heard a language that he recognized. The language was old, very old. The girl was literally speaking a slightly weird variant of the Ehlnofex language. The language from which all the most modern languages came.
'Ha! On your face Onmund, it did help to learn some of that ancient language, 'Edzard thought. His classmates from the College of Winterhold had been teasing him for trying to learn a language that might be considered extinct, but now that language had helped him.
After starting the conversation, they both introduced themselves. So Edzard created a ball of light and took off his helmet. When he took it off, he could see that Asia had blushed. Although he was blushing too. Since for him, Asia was one of the prettiest girls he had ever seen. She seemed to be about him age. She had long blonde hair and green eyes. Her hair was long and reached down to her back, plus she had a split fringe over her forehead and a single strand of hair sticking out from the top of her which slopes back.
'Okay, what's going on here?' Edzard thought. he had never seen such a strand of hair combed that way before in any of the races of Men, Mer or Beasts.
However, when he was about to ask about that hair, a growl was heard from what appeared to be a fusion of a bear, a dragon, and a saber cat. Scanning the area, he did not perceive the presence of any animal. So when Asia asked if he had food, he finally understood what was going on. The roar came from Asia's stomach. And at that moment he did the most mature thing he could think of, he started laughing.
When he stopped laughing, he handed Asia a plate of food. Which she began to eat quickly. It was at this point that Edzard remembered that she had signs of dehydration, so he gave her a waterskin. By the end of dinner, Asia had drunk three skins of Water.
'It seems that I will have to recharge my water reserves. Luckily we're close to the lake.' Edzard thought as he took a scroll from his bag.
This scroll was very special, as he had «borrowed» it from Neloth's library. It was a scroll that supposedly made it possible to learn languages quickly and easily. So it would be very useful. While he and Asia could chat a bit, it was very likely that she couldn't talk to anyone else. That would be counterproductive, so the solution was to use magic so that she can learn to speak the language of Tamriel.
'If the scroll fails, I should go to Master Neloth, but I'd rather avoid that.' thought Edzard. Master Neloth was a great mage, but he was eccentric, tyrannical, and did not care about his apprentices. The fact that he had implanted a heart of stone in one of them was undeniable proof. That made Edzard worried about asking him for help.
'I hope this works. Since I don't know any other way.' And it is that despite the fact that he is considered a prodigy and knows a lot about magic theory, in addition to mastering the schools of destruction, restoration and others, he did not know spells for language. Since these spells fall into the branch of mysticism, a branch that is not taught in the college of Winterhold where he was the Arch-mage.
'Well, let's start with this,' Edzard thought as he headed inside the tent.
"Asia, we… must… speak." Edzard said.
Asia looked at Edzard and nodded.
"Not… being… able… to… keep… talking… like… that… that's… why… I… use… magic… scroll… so… that… you… can… learn… the… Tamrielic… language."
"I see, it's okay Edzard." Asia said with a smile.
She had decided to trust Edzard. Since he seemed to be a good person. Since he had saved her and also cured her, besides that he gave her food and shelter.
Edzard nodded and stood in front of Asia. Unrolling the scroll, he began to read the spell.
Asia watched in amazement as several tendrils of multicolored light began to emerge from Edzard. These tendrils began to slowly move towards her. It was at that moment that Asia noticed that multicolored tendrils were also coming out of her, which were directed towards Edzard.
The tendrils began to be absorbed by the bodies of Asia and Edzard. Asia started to wince. And the thing is that her head started to hurt a lot. She raised a hand to try to ease the pain, but to no avail. The pain became so intense that Asia gave a cry of pain and then fell to the ground.
Edzard dropped the scroll to the ground. His mind was pureed.
Edzard dropped the scroll to the ground. His head ached as if a hundred giants were dancing in it.
'Damn Neloth. Your experiments always cause me problems.' Edzard thought as the darkness claimed him.
Both Asia and Edzard were lying inside the tent, completely unconscious.
Author's note:
To those who have made it this far, Thanks for reading. The truth is that this is not the original chapter, since I have almost completely rewritten it. I hope this one has been better for me and that it does not have as many errors as the original. Because being honest, I don't know how to write much in English and I'm relying on Google translators and the dictionaries that come with office 2019.
holosagewolf32: It is true that according to the lore nothing is known about the Dovahkiin after the battle against Miraak, but it is understood that the Dovahkiin will become a servant of Mora. Not knowing what happens next is the good thing, because it allows those who want to write a fanfiction to use their imaginations more openly to create new events that require the need for a Hero of the Elder Scrolls.
Well, I apologize for any misspelling. Do not forget to leave a review if you liked the chapter or if there is something that needs to be improved. With nothing more to say, until the next chapter.
