Fighting chance

This was requested by steamed hams on A03 so thank you for the request this is an Au.
It was January 27th 1970 when 19 year old Miguel was training with his assistant Juan for the big match against dash Parr as he had been preparing for one of the biggest days of his life Miguel was far off from his target Juan let out a sigh.
"Well I think we'll take a break for today you are way off your target is everything okay?" Juan asked
"I don't know to be honest I think I am just nervous or overworked". Miguel replies
"Well why don't you go home get some rest and see if that helps". Juan sugguested
That might help okay see you tomorrow then". Miguel waved whilst packing his things
"Okay see you Amigo ". Juan left the building
Miguel then signed the sheet to sign out and Smiled at Juanita as he wrote.
"Tough day Huh?" Juanita asked
"You have no idea". Miguel smiled
"Well cheer up maybe things will get better I believe it will". Juanita smiled
"Gracias Nita". Miguel waved
He left the building and started walking home tired from the training, Meanwhile Mirabel was walking out to the campus park to read she sat quietly under a tree she smiled at the peace and quiet very now and then she would look up from her book to look at the stars. She saw what looked like a boxer walk slowly through the park and saw he accidentally tripped cursing to himself she was worried so she put the book in her bag and went to go help him.
She ran to help him up and smiled a warm and genuine smile and began picking up his things.
"Estas bien Señor?" She asked
"Si , Lo siento I just…" Miguel stopped
He looked up to see a beautiful woman around his age helping him with his things and putting them back into his bag.
"Here". The woman straightened the bag for him
"Gracias thank you Señorita ". He thanked
"No problem ". She shrugged
She held out a hand to help him up and he gladly took it and smiled.
"Estas bien?" Mirabel asked
"Si". Miguel nodded
She smiled as she handed him his bag and he nodded in thanks she took out her hand and introduced herself.
"Mirabel Madrigal nice to meet you". She introduces
"Miguel Rivera". He shook his hand with hers
When they shook hands Mirabel noticed his hand was very sweaty probably from training and wearing gloves.
"Rough day?" Mirabel asked
"You have no idea". Miguel chuckled
"Well tomorrow is a new day it will get better ". Mirabel replies
"Si, I hope so". Miguel smiled
"Well, I have to go but I hope to see you agian soon". Mirabel waved
"You too". Miguel smiled
"Adios". She called
"Adios". Miguel repeated
When they went there seperate ways they both looked back to see if they were still there but to both their disappointment they weren't there, as they both walked they couldn't get each out of their heads . Mirabel walked back to her dorm and her friend Andrea was sleeping on the couch Mirabel rolled her eyes at her friend as she went to her room and Rita was out with some other friends. She laid on her bed staring at the ceiling thinking about that Miguel boxer and she had a feeling that they would be meeting agian.
Meanwhile Miguel had finished his nightly routine as he lay on his bed thinking about that beautiful woman her face etched in his mind how the light reflected off her glasses as she smiles and those beautiful hazel eyes she was so kind to him he smiled at the thought as he drifted off to sleep smiling at the thought.
The next morning Mirabel awoke for school ready to start her day getting ready and when she reached school she noticed there was a bunch of people swarming for autographs and pictures.
"Oh my God it's Dash!!" One girl screamed
"Dash can you sign this for me". Another asked
The man supposedly named Dash had gently taken the hat and started signing it and smiling a charming arrogant smile.
"Of course of course". He laughed heartily
Andrea rolled her eyes along with Rita Mirabel stood there with a hand on her hip.
"Can you believe that man has all the girls fawning over him he thinks his so great". Andrea spat
"I agree he is so stuck up". Rita sneered
"Don't you think Mira?" Rita asked
Mirabel nodded.
"Why is here?" Mirabel asked unamused
"Haven't you heard there hosting the championship here and Dash is one of the contenders along with one of the new rookies… Miguel Rivera I think his name is". Andrea answers
That got Mirabel 's Attention and she snapped her head.
"Miguel Rivera?" She stammered
"Si". Andrea nodded
Mirabel couldn't believe it she didn't know he was fighting him of all people.
"Mira?" Rita coaxed
"Huh". She shook her head
"You Okay you zoned out ". Andrea asked
"Yeah let's just get to class". Mirabel replies
Meanwhile Miguel was training and this time he was more focused than yesterday his focus was not on winning it was on Mirabel in his mind she was his good luck charm.
"Much better than yesterday's training ". Juan comments
"Thanks". Miguel nodded
He smiled and went on with his training as he did so Juan had some questions he wanted to ask.
"What changed?" Juan asked
"Just a new focus ". Miguel came up from behind and punched him in the stomach
"And What is this focus exactly?" Juan was curious
"Nothing special". He shrugged off
"Miguel Rivera I can tell your hiding something ". He smirked
"No it is". He hit him back and dogged the next attack
His head then clicked and he smiled.
"It's a girl isn't it?" Juan asked
"No". Miguel was blushing
"Miguel ". Juan warned
"Okay you caught me yes". Miguel chuckled
"So what's her name?" Juan smiled
"Mirabel ". He said her name and his cheeks turned as red as a tomato
They continued talking and training as it went late into the evening and they left.
"Well I can't wait to meet this mystery Chica soon". Juan waved
"Ha ha yeah right". Miguel laughs
~~ 2 Weeks Later ~~
Today was the day for the big match and Miguel was ready he just hoped a certain someone showed up. He was met with his father and coach.
"Ready Mijo?" Enrique asked
"Yeah let's do this". Miguel shook his head unsure of what was to happen.
"Go on show what you got". Juan smiled
He waited for the announcer to call his name as he was loosening himself up.
"Ladies and gentleman the night you have all been waiting for the Luchadora 34th championship and do we have a show for you tonight ". The host started
The audience clapped loud ready to see what they came for.
"So on the right side we have Miguel Rivera one of the rookies ". The host pointed to the right side and Miguel came out smiled and waved.
Most of audience was booing already but those who did support were happy and cheered for him the loudest.
"And on the other side we have Dashall parr ". Dash came out the other side
The audience cheered loud and smiled some girls screamed Dash just smiled and blew a kiss in the front row and some of girls faint.
"Okay boys ready?" Enese asked
The both nodded although Miguel was unsure Dash was very arrogantly confident.
"Fight". Enese announces
The boys grabbed each other Miguel dodged his opponent's hit and he hit Dash in the stomach both of them circling ready to make their next moves, Dash hit him hard in the back and jumped on him and pinned him down easily Miguel fought back as hard as he could and gave him a black eye.
"That's it Mijo you can do it". Enrique encored
Dash was beating him to death making his legs shake wanting to give up Dash punched him in the stomach making a tooth pop out.
Juan winced as did the rest of the audience.
Meanwhile Mirabel was in her dorm room pacing up and down her room wondering if she should go and see the match.
"What has gotten into you ?" Rita asked
Mirabel was shaking her head.
"I don't know but I am kind of scared she's freaking me out". Andrea nodded
"I am with you there sister ". Rita agreed
Mirabel finally decided to go and see the match she decided she would talk after with Miguel.
"I am going out you guys make lunch for yourselves ". Mirabel replies
"What where are you going it's girl day!?" Rita yelled
"Sorry girls Emergency I'll see you later". Mirabel apologises
"Okay be safe". Andrea waved
"I will". Mirabel called
"Should we be worried". Rita said
"No she's got this". Andrea waved
Mirabel ran as fast as she could to the match hoping she could make it time.
Miguel on the other hand was easily getting beaten to death he felt like he wanted to give up.
"Ready to give up yet rookie?" Dash sneered
"Never". Miguel mumbles
Through the crowd Mirabel could see Miguel was getting beaten to death she got as close as she could before yelling his name.
"MIGUEL!!" She yelled
Miguel was on the ground and before Dash could take the the final hit he heard his name being called out. He looked to see who was calling his name and for a second he thought it was an Angel because of his vision but the squinted and marked the silhouette of Mirabel.
"She came". Miguel thought
He heard her yelling one more time.
"COME ON DON'T LET HIM WIN SHOW HIM YOUR NOT GONNA GIVE UP". Mirabel called
So with the last of his strength he managed to get up and Dash was shocked but that look didn't last long as he punched Dash in the back pinned him down and gave him a black eye , the audience was taken aback but soon they irrupted in cheers and applause .
Dash got up and tried to hit him but he dodged it easily and Miguel managed to him hard the arm and hold him against the ropes until finally pinning him down declaring the obvious win the Umpire slated his hand down on the mat declaring his win.
"And we have a winner ladies and gentlemen of the 34th wrestlers championship Miguel Rivera ". The host held his to declare his win.
The audience cheered for him loud and powerful but he only heard Mirabel 's screams and he couldn't be happier.
Dash got up and wished him a good game he gently patted his back when they exited the ropes they were very relieved is was over Miguel then went over to his coach and father and smiled.
"That was amazing Mijo I am so proud of you ". Enrique smiled
"Thanks". Miguel replies
"Not bad Amigo ". Juan laughed
"Thanks " Miguel replies
Just then Mirabel met his eyes and she put a hand on her hip and smiled Miguel looked bashful.
"You have some explaining to do". Mirabel laughed
"I guess I do". Miguel smiled
"But right after you get cleaned up". Mirabel replies
"Yeah". Miguel chuckled
Juan smiled and so did Enrique.
"You must Mirabel The mysterious Chica ". Juan smiled
"That's me Wait what?" Mirabel coaxed
Miguel was in massive trouble with the way Mirabel was looking at him she was burning fire with her eyes.
"I'll tell you later". Miguel smiled
"You'd better ". Mirabel replies
With that they all walked off home smiling of course Mirabel would tell the girls later but for now she needs answers and Miguel was happy to answer them.
