The alarm sounded in the bedroom as a hand slammed on the button to turn it off. Kushina rolled in bed to try to gain a bit more sleep. Unfortunately for her that was when someone began to scream for her attention.

"Ahhhh! Ahhwaaaa!" Naruko blurted out as Kushina groaned. "Naru, not now. Please."

The toddler didn't seem to care as she stood up in her crib and continued to try to get the woman's attention. "Yewweeeeeh! Ahhmmm."

Kushina sighed as she rose out of bed and went up to the girl who immediately giggled and raised her hand, wanting to be held. "Why do you always have to wake me up? For once can't you do it to…dang it." Kushina finally noticed that Minato was gone, likely with his team. 'You win this round.' "OK, ok." lifting the girl into her arms Kushina walked out of the bedroom and went to the bathroom, changing Naru's diaper and putting her in a new onezi. All the while Naru was constantly making a noise of some kind.

"Ehhh ewwww ma."

"You're talkative today." Kushina said to the toddler who looked at her.

"Eyuuu da mmmmm." Naru sounded off.

"Hm, you trying to say something? What do you want to say? Come on, you can do it." Kushina prompted the girl.

Naru seemed confused as she just continued to rattle off baby babble.

"Ehhhhhh ooooooh ma."

"Eh, it was worth a shot. Welp let's get something to eat for breakfast. Once Minato gets home we're going to a party, you'll like that right?" Naru just looked at her with a blank expression. "Yeah, maybe you don't understand just yet."

Obito was bored. When he thought of being a ninja he never would have expected to do yard work and yet here he was pulling weeds while Kakashi and Rin trimmed the hedges of their clients garden while Minato Sensei watched them, giving pointers whenever one of them needed help. Obito called out to Minato as he was looking over their progress. "Hey sensei! Why do we have to do this stuff anyway? Shouldn't we be training?" Minato smiled at his student as he began to explain. "This is to get you guys used to how missions will go. Due to everything going on right now we'll be doing these minor missions for the first couple of weeks

before we go out into the field. If this wasn't a time of war we'd be doing this for far longer and you'd have way more of these but for now these are to give you the basics on everything so we aren't sending newly made genin into battle. Plus you guys won't be doing too much in the field anyway, mostly helping with intel and less dangerous work until your chunin at that point you will start doing real work unless you want to do something not out in battle."

Obito grumbled. "OK I guess that makes sense. But when do we become chunin anyway?"

"When I believe your ready for the Chunin Exams, though most don't enter until a year into becoming shinobi and those are the better ones. And that's a goal I'll want us to be working on through our time together. Making you all the best I can. Which means the sooner you guys get this done the sooner we can start real missions." They all perked up at hearing that as they began to increase their work speed. 'Ha, Kushina was right. Get them motivated and they'll do the rest.'

After another hour the four had finished their work and were heading to get their pay for the mission. "That was pretty good. Most days we'd do more jobs in a day before training as long as I'm available, but today I won't be." Rin's interest peaked upon hearing that. "Why not sensei? If you don't mind me asking."

"No, it's fine, I don't mind. It's just a party with some friends. When you're as busy as many of us we try to find as much time to relax as we can." Minato sighed as he put his hands behind his head.

"When do you need to go back out sensei?" Obito asked.

"Not for a while. Since I'm training you guys now I'm allowed to be away from the battlefield for a few month's as long as nothing too serious comes up and I'm needed. Once I do need to start going back I'll be having some friends of mine help with your training and missions when I'm called out. But don't worry about that. Right now you guys got my full attention so if you need anything you can tell me. I'm here to make sure you all grow to be the best you can be. That also means that if you need me when we're not doing anything regarding your training you can come see me. I'll show you my house tomorrow so that you know where to find me. Plus I plan on bringing a special guest tomorrow as well." The kids were interested in that news.

"Who sensei?" Obito asked.

"You'll have to wait and see." Minato said as they all entered the mission office.

Minato walked back home and opened the door. As he did a small yellow blur ran up to him and hugged his leg. Naru giggled as she greeted Minato with her babbles of delight.

"Hey, have you been good?" Minato brought the little girl into his arms while she giggled in delight.

"Better than usual." Kushina said as she entered the hallway. "How were the kids today?"

"Great. Told them about how missions will be going on and stuff like that." Minato said as he followed Kushina to their room.

"That's good. Get the boring stuff out of the way quickly."

Minato sighed at that. "It's not boring."

"To you maybe. Ok I got her this little dress, what do you think?" She asked as she showed him a toddler sized violet dress that matched her and Naru's eyes. He was impressed and even thought it looked beautiful. Looking at the back of the dress he noticed a red symbol in the shape of a swirling whirlpool. Minato glanced at Kushina with a smile as she only blushed.

"It was mine ok. Thought it would look good on her." She said as she laid the dress down.

"I don't have a problem with it. I'm just wondering if people will start to question it. She's not ours officially until tonight."

"Meh, who cares. People will find out soon anyway."

Minato shrugged as he gave Naru to Kushina so she could put the dress on her. "True." walking to the closet he got some nicer clothes and walked to the bathroom to get changed. After 30 minutes the three were ready, Minato and Kushina in more formal wear while Naru had the dress and a small red bow in her hair. Leaving their home, the two walked with Naru in Kushina's arms.

The three made it to the compound as Minato knocked on the door. Waiting for a few seconds the door opened as Mikoto smiled at them. "Hey you made it, and you brought Naru!" Kushina smiled as she held the toddler at her hip. "Yep, how's Itachi?"

"Excited, he's with Fugaku right now. If you'll follow me." The three followed behind the Uchiha as they continued to talk. "So you still haven't found her parents?" Mikoto asked as they walked through the halls of the house. "Well, not exactly." Kushina said as she looked to Minato. "What do you mean not exactly?" Mikoto asked, confused. "Well explain later." Minato said. Mikoto was now curious as they entered into the living room.

The others greeted them as Kushina and Minato walked over to see Itachi. "Well look at you. How's it goin birthday boy?" Itachi blushed as he looked to her. "Good." He said shyly.

"That's good. Got you a buddy to play with." Kushina set Naru down as the two looked at each other. Mikoto bent down and told Itachi to go play while the adults talked. The boy nodded as he grabbed Naru's hand and led her away to play. Naru looked at Kushina and Minato as they both smiled at her, telling her it was ok. As the two toddlers left Mikoto noticed the swirl on Naru's back as she looked at Kushina with surprise evident on her face. "No way."

Kushina gave her a huge smile. "Yep!"

"Ohh congratulations!" Mikoto cheered as the two hugged.

"Thanks. It's not official until tonight but after that she's ours." Kushina's smile was so big it was covering her entire face. Mikoto was smiling with her and the two walked off to talk about it, leaving Minato and Fugaku alone. They both just stared at one another for a few seconds before Fugaku broke the ice. "Namikaze."

"Uchiha."

They grew silent again before they both laughed as Minato slapped the man's back. "Been a minute. How's everything?"

Fugaku had a small smile on as he talked to his rival. "Good. I've heard you got a team now."

"Yep. Even got an Uchiha on it."

Fugaku nodded, "Obito, yes I know. Make sure he's well trained."

"You got it." The two continued to talk as the day went on. Soon the party started to slow down as cake came out for the birthday boy. Itachi was so excited as he blew out his candles and everyone cheered. Kushina grabbed some cake for the three of them when she noticed Naru looking at it with confusion. The little girl looked at her to see what she did with it so Kushina began to eat it. Naru looked back at the cake and grabbed it with her hands, placing it in her mouth. The little girl's eyes widened as she began to put more of the cake in her mouth, making her face get covered in cake. Minato and Kushina chuckled as they both began to clean the girl of her mess.

Soon the party came to an end as the trio said their goodbyes to the Uchihas and headed to the Hokage's office to get the papers to adopt Naru signed, both excited as they walked together through the streets. Making their way into the tower they made their way up to the Hokage's office as Naru began to get tired and laid her head on Minato's shoulder.

The trio entered the office as Hiruzen smiled at them. "Glad to see you've made it." Kushina smirked at the old man and put her hands on her hips. "Like we'd miss this." Hiruzen chuckled as he showed them the papers they both needed to sign. "Well if that's the case then here you both go."

They both began to write as Naru was fast asleep, being placed on the couch in Hiruzen's room while the adults could focus on their task. Soon they reached the final thing to sign. "Now, since you both will be her guardians but neither of you are married we need to know what her family name should be." Hiruzen said as he looked at the two. They both looked to the other for a moment before nodding. "We decided she'd be an Uzumaki." Minato said to a shocked Hiruzen.

"Really?" He asked as Kushina had a small smile on her face. Minato nodded as he began to explain. "Kushina has always wanted to bring her family back, we've talked about it many times already. So we decided that if we ever had kids they'd be Uzumaki's. And since Naru is ours we decided it worked." Hiruzen nodded as he wrote down Naru's name on the papers and stamped it with the Hokage's official seal. "Then I'm happy to say that you both now are the proud parents of Naruko Uzumaki."
