A.N - Hey guys, thank you so much for reading. This chapter has been long, yet short to write. I don't know when Melinda should come into the story or how Skye will drop into their lives. Please let me know any ideas. Comment suggestions.

Phil's day is going pretty great. He just finished his grading, and heading over to the diner. Melinda and him met for lunch, agreeing to meet him there after her last class which ends at 7pm. They often meet for lunch, most times she comes to the diner, because her husband is an amazing cook.

Phil and Melinda met in college when they became friends with Maria Hill, Isabelle Hartley, and John Garrett. They became quick friends. They frequently went out spending time together, Phil and Melinda becoming so close they were practically joined at the hip. As they got older, Melinda joined the CIA while Phil went to become a teacher. Their paths crossed a few times until a nasty shootout happened leading Melinda to isolate herself from the world. Melinda was honored for her bravery and quick thinking, but her mental and physical health deteriorated. Phil rushed over immediately to help pick her up. There were hard days and ones where the light seemed only like a peephole though darkness.

Things were especially hard when she found out she was pregnant with her ex boyfriend's baby. The father was toxic and dug her into a deeper hole. But Phil was with her every step of the way, as were her friends and parents. She dropped her now ex, and focused on getting better. With Phil's help she started therapy and resources for her trauma. Overtime she was getting better and her body started getting stronger, which was good for the baby. She gave birth in the summer, July 2nd to be exact, and the next day she put her up for adoption. Phil didn't want her to give her up, but also knew the pain Melinda was pushing through and it was her decision. He continued to support her through every up and down, Phil falling for her in the process.

Years later she was making a good recovery. She opened her own martial arts complex and things looked bright. They bought a house and opened up Mayson's Grilled Cheese Diner. Melinda May and Phil Coulson combined their last names for the restaurant so it could be in both their names. She and Phil were officially married when Natasha came into their lives. She wasn't a child necessarily but they took her under their wing when she started working at the diner they opened. She was in a rough patch with her boyfriend that cut her out, but Phil and Melinda showed her the love she needed. They adopted her and twins, Wanda and Pietro came into their lives through Melinda's volunteering. The twins' parents were killed in an explosion from an earthquake that left them shaken. Like Natasha they were older and wiser, yet still needed some support. Melinda often volunteered in trauma group therapy where she met the twins. Natasha quickly warmed up to them and before they knew it they were a family of 5.

Phil and Melinda were helping at shelters, when they met Robin, a hard working girl trying to get her feet back on the ground. With a little love and support they helped get her back on her feet. Now Elena was a little challenging. She was older but technically still in foster care. She was left in pieces and with their help they managed to get her to a stable environment. They always saw her potential and that's why they immediately agreed to foster her, in hopes of helping her. Applying for the license, and getting approved was a little nerve wracking but it was all worth it when they could finally promise Elena a good and permanent part of their family.

Fast forward to now and they're all grown up. Natasha met a woman her age named Bobbi where she worked as a spy for the FBI. She came out in her sexuality and married Bobbi. They decided to have kids and so they started researching options. Picking IVF was a simple choice for them, thinking that it was the best way for them. And hopefully in a few months they'd be getting some good news.

Wanda and Pietro extended their time at college to really focus on their studies before committing to a high demanding job. They both are adventurous so it made sense when they picked an out of state college to attend. Wanda is going to become a pediatric nurse, as Pietro is working towards a PhD in modern medicine. Wanda actually met her now boyfriend Vision, who was the newest addition to the Coulson Family.

Robin who is 23 is still in college too, working to become a famous artist. Her art is absolutely incredible. She spends a lot of her days creating many creations and spreading her love for art around the world. She travels a lot, coming home for special occasions or holidays. She misses her family but loves what she does.

The youngest Elena is working through college. She is with her boyfriend Mack, and is training to go to the Olympics in track and field. Her boyfriend is in engineering, taking a mentorship at an amazing technological and developmental company.

Present day he's in the kitchen kneading some dough to make some homemade bread. They had a break in the flow of traffic which is a nice break. Shawn is washing the dishes as Mandy, a newer employee is trained by Phil,

"Kneading is the most important, but it can be tricky. You want to knead the dough, but at the same time too much kneading is also a thing." He says demonstrating, "It's a pretty simple motion."

The bell rings alerting that someone stepped through the door, "I'll be back,". Walking into the main seating area he was surprised to see his student, Skye, soaked from the rain. She was only wearing a t-shirt and some ripped jeans, her hair plastered to her face,

"Skye, come sit down, here I'll get some towels for you."

He rushed back asking Shawn to get some towels and decided to make his homemade hot chocolate. Returning with the items Skye had not moved, still standing by the entrance, only this time she had the towels.

"Here, come sit," He smiles,

She walks over as he hands her the cup, "It's hot chocolate, my mother's recipe, let me know what you think"

She smiles gratefully, "Thank you" The hot coco was very hot, but it warmed Skye up. Checking the clock, it is around 5:30pm. Sitting there with her teacher she contemplates where to go. Maria asked her to try, and she did. Not very well, but it was only the second day. This must have been a world record.

Maybe there was a shelter nearby?

"How is it?" Phil asks, coming back from the kitchen after a few minutes.

"Good" Skye smiles.

"That's good it's pretty chilly out. How are you liking this area? Did you just move here?"

"Yeah, my uh dad got transferred for business. And-it's nice. When uh- did you open this place?"

"Years ago, Mayson is actually a combination of my wife and I's last name"

"Really?" she asks softly.

"Yeah, uh May and Coulson."

Skye looks down crinkling the napkin he gave her.

"So how are you liking school? '' he asks.

"Uh…it's good. Jemma, Fitz and I are working on a project together."

"Oh Jemma and Leo! They're great kids. My daughter is friends with Jason, Jemma's older brother"

"I know" Skye mutters quietly.

"How do-"

She interrupts sipping her hot chocolate, "Wanda, visited Jemma while we were working on the project"

Phil chuckles, "Small world"

She quips a smirk, "Yeah, I guess"

She looks around the restaurant when her eyes land on what seems to be a family photo, "Is this your family?"

He nods, "Yeah, that's my wife, and our children. Natasha, Wanda, Pietro, Elena and Robin. There older though"

Skye can't help but stare at the photo. They all have smiles, all are happy together. God she wished for something like that.

She didn't want to worry Phil so she left early and was able to sneak back in the house. Thankfully Garrett was passed out on the couch.

Around 7:15pm Phil's beautiful wife walks in with Wanda and Pietro.

"Hello beautiful" He grins, giving Melinda a deep kiss.

"Eww, guys come on" Pietro gags.

"Please, it's cute" Wanda giggles, nudging her mom who playfully blushed.

"How was your day?" Melinda asks.

"Oh it was good. The day was busy. Nothing much happened. I felt so bad for this one girl, her name is Skye-"

"Oh-Jemma's friend?"

"You know who he's talking about?" Pietro asked, looking at his sister.

"Yeah, I stopped by Jemma's to visit her and her mom and apparently her, Jemma and Leo are working on a project. You seemed anxious and edgy though. Kinda shy too, which I wasn't expecting."
