The Watcher continued to eye the universe. "With the recent breakouts, there are dozens of new enemies and team-ups soon to follow. Unknown stories are yet to be told. Destinies that are doomed to be changed thanks to their inclusion."

On Earth, Janet and the Hulk waited on the street in National City. They stood outside a building that they hadn't yet been told about. They had been asked by Spider-Man to come, but it seemed like he was one of the few who were running late.

"Where are they?" Janet wondered, growing a bit anxious and annoyed. Then she looked over at the Hulk and smiled. "At least you showed up on time."

The Hulk growled, clearly not pleased with the current situation. "What's taking them so long?"

Then there was a sudden gust of wind as Thor flew and smashed into the ground, spinning his hammer before placing it on his belt. "Comrades, pardon the tardiness," he said. He turned to see Hulk and patted him on the shoulder. "Hulk, you ready to face a battle?"

"You're late," Hulk said, not seeming very forgiving.

"Apologies," Thor says. "I was held up, as you mortals would say."

And that was when Hank finally decided to show his face by enlarging and standing among the group. "Hey. Sorry, I'm late, I was held up with something at the lab."

"Like you always are," Janet said, not sounding overly pleased with how distant Hank always seemed. She smiled, though, and added, "There's only one other member missing."

Then they watched as Spider-Man swung around the corner, trying to speed his way up. When he made it to the gates, he dropped down and landed right beside them. He showed off a new suit that was made mostly of common fabric but seemed to have been merged with a black iron spider on his chest for protection.

"Hey, guys," Peter said, apologizing for his lateness. "Sorry about that. I was having an early dinner with Aunt May. I figured I'd help her out with the cleanup afterward, but it ended up going on longer than I had anticipated."

"Just get to the point, Parker," Hank asked his friend. "Why are we here?"

"Oh, right," Peter said, getting to the good part as he walked up to the gate. They looked out at the view and saw that it was indeed a mansion of sorts. "Well, since we're going to start working as a team, I thought it would be nice if we had a headquarters of our own. With the DEO still under repair, and I have a feeling not all of us will want to go there, this will be a place where we can all come together and... well, assemble."

Peter then opened the gates with his palm scanner, allowing them inside. They walked up to the doors where a blue scanner emerged from the doorbell and scanned the group.

"Access granted."

Then when they got a better look at the inside, there were rooms on all sides that seemed bigger than the last. On the left side, there was a living area; to the right, there was a giant kitchen (so the Hulk wouldn't even crush it by walking in). The front of the room had two split-up staircases that went in two different directions.

"What do you think?" Peter asked as he looked around.

Janet asked, "Where'd you find this place?" as she flew around to explore the area.

Peter shrugged and looked around the room. "Ah, well, I got the place from Reed. He and the Fantastic Four weren't using this place anymore since they moved to the Baxter Building, so they let me have it. The place is run by Jarvis, the personal artificial intelligence I developed in the DEO. Whatever you ask, Jarvis will find a way."

"Indeed," Jarvis confirmed.

"There's a fully stocked kitchen; the bills go to Reed. He doesn't mind, at least according to Sue. There are 12 bedrooms in total, fully automated maid service, laundry, and we've even got TV and dozens of streaming services."

Janet had made her way to the couch where she found a remote and hit it, causing a wall of different gaming platforms and systems with a giant screen television.

"You know, for those days when we just want to relax," Peter explained why it was essential. "Also because Johnny left it behind and Sue already got him a new setup."

"And this is what you've been working on for the past week?" Hank wasn't entirely impressed—yet again, he rarely is. "Are you serious?"

"Oh, no, I haven't shown you guys the best part yet," Peter said as he removed his glove and showed them a watch he was wearing. "You're all gonna need these."

Then a small robot came along and showed them a small watch face for them to take. When Janet took hers, she placed it on her wrist, and the device automatically strapped itself around her wrist.

"It's an ID card of sorts that allows you access to everything in the mansion. It's encoded in our DNA, so if we lose one, nobody can crack it. Unless, you know, they take off your entire arm." Peter explains how they work. "They also serve as audio and video communication devices from anywhere in the world. Even have trackers inside of them for emergencies. In case one of us is captured, or if anyone isn't sure where they are."

Hulk was having a bit of trouble with grabbing his wrist communicator since Peter didn't exactly make one Hulk-sized. Janet decided to give him a hand and picked it up, placing it in Hulk's palm.

Janet decided to be a little more friendly towards the Hulk. "Would you like some help, or-"?

"You think I can't figure it out?" Hulk snarled at her.

"Oh, no," Janet said as she backed off a little. "I'm sure you can do it."

Thor however took it a little personally as he approached The Hulk. "T'would be wise to respect the lady."

"Which lady do you mean, Blondie?" Hulk asked, getting into Thor's face.

Peter saw things were about to go bad if he didn't intervene quickly. He walked over to the fireplace and held out his watch, allowing it to scan him. Once the scan was done, the fireplace revealed a hidden corridor that leads downward.

"Nifty!" Janet said as she shrank down as everyone tied to fit in the elevator.

The elevator barely fit everyone at once, but it wasn't exactly something they wanted to make a habit out of. When they made their way downward, they were met with several laboratories where Reed Richards hid his most important or dangerous experiments.

"Labs for us to do experiments or make new gear for the rest of us," Peter said as he led them through the labs.

Then he led them to a hangar bay that housed a shuttle, hidden beneath a glass casing to keep people out. "A ship and hangar bay for when we need to travel cross-country and for those of us who can't fly," he said with a bit of a sideways glance towards Thor and Wasp, as they were the only two who could fly. "It's got weapons, shielding, and has a cloaking device. Well, it's not perfected yet, but we're working out the kinks. It can cloak for about a minute so far. But they can go into space, too."

Then Peter leads them down a corridor where they all entered a giant room. There was nothing in it except for themselves, which got them all confused.

Welcome to the HARM room," Peter said as he gestured to nothing. "It's short for Holographic Augmented Reality Machine."

"Uh, there's nothing here." Janet was sorry to tell Peter.

Peter gave a coy smile as he raised his watch to his mouth. "Is there?" he asked, then tapped his watch. "HARM Room - Simulation 1."

Suddenly, the lights began to dim until everything went black. When the lights came back on, Peter was nowhere to be seen, and Janet found herself in a corridor of sorts. There were men in HYDRA uniforms shooting rockets at her, and she wasted no time in reacting. Flying away from the rockets, she used her stingers to shoot them down before they had a chance to hit her.

However, Hank found himself stuck in a seemingly endless corridor. As he began walking down it, a dozen tentacles similar to those used by Doc Ock emerged from the walls and attacked him. Struggling to escape, Hank reactivated his mask and shrank down to evade their grasp before running away. But that seemed to be a mistake when the floor beneath him disappeared and he fell. He then enlarged himself in order to escape and grabbed the ledge.

Thor found himself in the midst of the chaos as he attempted to fly around and evade a dozen wrecking balls hurled at him. Flying about, he used his hammer to strike back against them, hoping to survive.

Hulk stood there, watching as the walls closed in on him. However, he didn't react as they began to crush him; instead, he simply pushed them apart, breaking them in the process.

Then the entire thing turned into a grid and everything vanished as if it had never been there in the first place. Peter stood on a ledge that disappeared the moment he stepped off of it; he landed beside him with a shrug.

"And that was Simulation One," Peter told his exhausted or unphased teammates. "Of Twenty. You can design simulations with specific phrases or words to activate. You can make any environment for any situation, and I even got a few LMDs to give you any enemy you want to fight. From the middle of a desert to the bottom of an ocean."

"And that doesn't strike you as dangerous, Parker?" Hank asked, playing the Debbie-downer role that he always did.

"Relax, Hank," Peter said, easing his worries as he raised his watch. "I designed this place so it's connected to our watches. If we were to lose them or have them break, which is the most unlikely, the place will immediately shut down. It will read your condition, and if it becomes bad, it will stop the simulation and get you to safety. I designed these watches to be completely indestructible. The only way these watches can break is if you drop a nuke on it or say 'AvengeWatch, self-destruct.'"

And that was when Peter realized his mistake. His watch began to fritz out and broke off of his wrist. It fell to the ground where it popped open and its pieces flew around his feet. He had to admit, that was a bit stupid on his part, and he should have realized that before he said it.

"Oops," Peter said sheepishly. "That's why we have spares."

Then Peter led them to a giant room with a round table in the middle of it. When they entered the room, Peter activated a screen that appeared on the center of the table and showed all of the escaped criminals.

"As far as we have been able to track, Henshaw, the prison officials from all the prisons combined have put together a list of all the criminals who escaped their respective prisons," Peter tells them, crossing off a few of the names. "Ivy, Ock, and MODOK have been recaptured thanks to our efforts."

"How many does that leave out there?" Janet asked.

"At least somewhere in the seventies," Peter said, apologetically. "We've got a lot of work ahead of us to recapture all of the escapees."

Thor says, "I know many of these villains. The Wrecking Crew is formidable. Their weapons are otherworldly in their might."

"If we do recapture them, where do you plan to even put them?" Hank asks Peter. "All of the prisons are currently under reconstruction if they're lucky. The DEO holding cells are destroyed, the Big House is the cause of that. The Cube has been under investigation."

"I've been talking to Reed about that, too," Peter confessed he already thought ahead of Hank. "He's working on the proposition that we create a prison that's outside of our dimension. That way, if they do escape the prison, they have nowhere to go. He calls it the Negative Zone."

"Too much talking, we should just go get these guys," Hulk stated, ready to smash.

"We don't even know what happened to cause the breakout in the first place," Hank reminded the group, all of them seemingly ignoring Hulk's comments. "What's to stop it from happening again?"

Janet yawned and grew a little tired as it had been a long day for everyone. "You know, maybe we should pick this conversation back up in the morning and concentrate on beating up more villains tomorrow."

"At least one of you knows what they're doing," Hulk noticed that Janet seemed to be the equal middle ground between Hank and Peter's discussions.

Thor seemed to be growing tired of this one and snarled a little. "I have had enough of you, creature," he said as he walked over to stand face-to-face with Hulk. "Your insults end here."

"You wanna go, Goldilocks?" Hulk didn't seem to have a problem with it. "Let's go."

"Whoa!" Peter quickly got between them, not wanting to see the mansion destroyed on day one. "Okay. How about instead of fighting, we find a way to get along?" He then lightly shoved them away from one another to ease the tension. "Since you two are the only ones who are gonna be staying at the mansion full time, I would really appreciate it if you could leave the place standing for one whole day."

The Hulk growled and then walked away. Peter sighed and then received an alert on his phone reminding him of his need to get to work. He sighed and hoped he wouldn't return home to a destroyed building on his first day.

"Wow, he's going to be a lot of fun," Janet said.

Peter quickly headed towards CatCo and got onto the elevator to find Vicky waiting for him. Peter had to admit, Vicky was a nice addition to the office, and not only because she actually brought and left a few tables worth of donuts and even sprung for a new coffee machine. She's also pretty friendly and self-deprecating at times, something he wasn't sure was good for a reporter, but he hadn't really seen her in action yet.

"Hey, Peter," Vicky said, "where have you been? I haven't seen you all week."

"Yeah, sorry, I've been...starting a bowling group." Peter went with the best excuse that he could think of. "Found a few people and just trying to figure out how to get everyone to work together."

"Ugh, that's something I don't have much patience for," Vicky said, not seeming to enjoy the idea. "I mean, bowling I can enjoy. But organizing a group to do it on a regular basis is just too much work."

"Well, I have to take you bowling sometime," Peter joked, noticing the crowd in their boss's office. "Is Grant in?"

"She wants us in her office immediately," Vicky stated as they raced towards the office.

Cat Grant looked over the screens behind her desk, all of which played footage of the recent Avengers team fighting separately. "The Avengers," she said, not sounding impressed by the name. "I'm not entirely sure what they were going for, whether they were trying to name a group of heroes or a rock band." Then she turned to face the rest of the group as Vicky and Peter walk inside. "But they are currently the latest news. A group of remarkable people brought together to do something more than they could do separately. That's all I've been hearing. But am after more than just the group. I want to make a change from the other broadcasts. And I want to focus on the members individually."

"Can't be too difficult, most were well-known heroes before the group." A reporter comments.

"That's not exactly what I meant," Grant tells him. "I want to interview them."

Peter couldn't help but snicker at the idea, immediately getting looks from both Vicky and Grant. "Sorry, that was poorly timed," he said. "I was just thinking of a joke a friend told me... I just got it."

Grant seemed to buy it enough to the point she didn't seem to care. "Well, Parker, maybe you can convince your friend in red and blue to arrange a sit-down. Maybe give us a little broach to get the Avengers to interview."

"It doesn't really work that way, Ms. Grant," Peter said apologetically.

"Well, rest assured, those hags over at the Daily Planet and the Bugle are working to try and get this exclusive interview with the group. We need to get it first," Grant says to the room. "I want a sit down with the Avengers. Find some way to get it; hell, I'll even take Spider-Man if we can get him to at least explain the sudden decision to form a superhero boy band. Go, go."

Everyone scattered to try and make Grant's request a reality. None of them were entirely sure how they would approach it.

"Get an interview from the superheroes who are going out of their way to keep their identities confidential," Vicky commented on the impossible task they were given. "Grant sure knows how to keep reporters looking for new answers to impossible questions."

"That's Cat Grant for you." Peter joked.

"Peter?" Winn called, getting his friend's attention. "There's someone looking for you on the balcony."

Peter looked over at the balcony and saw that it was Hank Henshaw who was waiting for him. He wondered what he wanted, and knew he wouldn't like being kept waiting.

"Who's that?" Vicky wonders.

"Oh, an old friend," Peter decided to lie and walked over to the balcony. When he opened the door, he walked over and kept the doors closed. "What are you doing here? Does the DEO need my help with something?"

Henshaw actually ended up chuckling and shook his head negatively. "Not this time, Parker," he said. "This time, I wanted to help you."

Peter wasn't sure where this was going. "Me?"

"Believe it or not, I actually want your Avengers Initiative to succeed," Henshaw tells Peter.

"You do?" Peter was shocked to hear.

Across the city, Hank continued to work on the Ultron artificial intelligence he had been developing. However, Janet interrupted his progress when she flew up and stood in front of his microscope. She had been attempting to communicate with him for the past hour, but only now did she realize he hadn't been paying attention to her.

Janet exclaimed, "You never listen! I can't believe you don't think this is cool."

"Wait, what?" Hank asked, not following what she was saying. "Oh, I do think this is cool," he said, gesturing toward the modified AI. "The modifications you've made are very exciting."

"No, not stupid Ultron," Janet cried as she sat down on the microscope. "The Avengers. We're finally real superheroes."

"I'm a scientist, Janet," Hank reminded her.

Janet reminded him, "Who also has superpowers and a super suit."

"Look, I implore Peter for wanting to create this superhero team, but you can't just throw a bunch of people together and call them a team," Hank said as he grabbed the Ultron head and threw it on top of a prototype body. "It takes time and effort to form a team. It takes trust. Peter's not the kind of guy I would say puts time and effort into his work."

"You're kidding me, right?" Janet asks, shocked Hank never saw the effort Peter puts into what matters. Then an idea struck her mind to throw that into Hank's face and help the team. "I'll move into the mansion!"

"What?" Hank asked, confused. "But you have a penthouse apartment in the city."

"Firefighters live in the firehouse," Janet stated as she stood up. "I've gotta get packing."

Hank didn't even know what he could do to try and stop her. Janet just flew away and he just watched her do so. He then looked over to the Ultron head. "She's very excited."

Meanwhile, back at the mansion, there was a shadowy figure making its way through the grounds and setting off the security system. The security system consisted of small turrets equipped with ICERs from S.H.I.E.L.D., which Peter had helped create to prevent innocent bystanders from being caught in the crossfire.

However, when the turrets opened fire, the shadowy figure approached them and wasn't even fazed as it then used some form of a knife to slice through the neck of the turret and shut it down.

Thor was sitting down in the mansion when Jarvis attempted to connect with him. "Excuse me, Mr. Odinson," he said, "there appears to be some difficulty."

"What seems to be your concern, elusive voice?" Thor asks the AI.

"I'm not sure if it's a matter of technical difficulty, or if there's an intruder on the premises," Jarvis tells him.

Thor seemed to like that idea as he then stood up and picked up his hammer. Then Hulk came marching past him and Thor got his attention.

"Come, Hulk," said Thor. "The house believes there may be an enemy on the grounds." Thor then spun his hammer around. "If we're lucky, we shall find battle this night."

However, Hulk didn't seem interested in the idea. As he approached Thor, he said, "I don't battle, I smash. And if you talk to me again, hammer-face, I will smash you."

"If you wish to try and battle against me, I will oblige you." Thor dared as he gripped the hammer.

Hulk however didn't seem to be interested in getting into another fight. "I don't need this." Then he started to walk away. "I don't need any of this. I quit!"

Thor heard what he suspected was the Hulk crashing through the front door, followed by robots repairing it. "Good riddance," he said.

Then there was a sudden call as the watch Thor wore turned into a face-time call, and Janet appeared on the screen. "I got an alert from Jarvis, Hulk quit? Thor, you need to bring him back."

"Why would I need to do that?" Thor didn't see the importance of the Hulk.

"Because since we stopped the government from taking him, he became our responsibility," Janet explained to him. "And with the mood he seems to be in, he's likely to level something. Just bring him back, please."

Thor nodded as he then walked towards the door, noticing that there were indeed micro-machines repairing it. He then took off into the sky, just missing someone sneaking his way inside the building. Locating the Hulk wasn't much of a problem; all he had to do was follow the screams and crashed cars.

Thor then landed on the ground in front of the Hulk and prepared for a fight. "You will return to the mansion with me, Hulk."

Hulk however wasn't interested in listening. "Move."

The Hulk tried to push Thor out of the way when Thor grabbed his arm. "T'was not a request," he said.

Hulk then began to growl angrily as he turned around and punched Thor in the face, sending him flying. Thor crashed into a nearby construction site, where he was trampled underfoot by a number of heavy machines. Smiling, he raised his hammer, ready for a fight with the Hulk.

Peter was surprised by his own words. "You're actually on board with the idea of the Avengers? Gotta say, not sure how I feel about that."

"The government and the DEO can handle a handful of heroes individually," Henshaw explains. "You don't know the trouble I went through for them to agree to let you in. But a team of superpowered people wrestling the escapees makes people uneasy."

"I can understand that, but they all want to do some good," Peter defended his group.

"I know that. That's why I believe in what you are doing. I believe the Avengers are an important group. You need to make this work." Henshaw tells him.

Peter was still unsure what to make of this when he heard an explosion go off behind him. Turning around, Peter noticed what looked to be some sort of dust cloud settling over the park. Then he noticed that all of the reporters inside were running around as if something big had happened.

Vicky quickly located Peter and opened the door. "Peter, we gotta go."

"What's happening?" Peter wonders what had gone down.

"Thor and the Hulk have been spotted battling near the park," Vicky explained as she quickly ran to make her way downstairs.

Peter looked toward Henshaw, wondering what he was supposed to do now. "It's your team, hero," he said. "Deal with it."

Peter took this as his cue to be dismissed and quickly got to work. He ripped his shirt open, revealing his Spider-Man suit beneath it. He then leaped over the railing and plummeted downward, continuing to shed his clothing. Once he was naked, he fired a web line to attach himself to a nearby building and swung away.

As he began heading towards the scene of the crime, he activated his homing beacon to summon the others. "Avengers, assemble!"

Janet was in her apartment, packing some of her belongings when she suddenly received an alert on her watch. When she saw that the message was from Peter and that it included a location and a message, she quickly activated it.

"Avengers, assemble!"

Realizing something was wrong, she dropped what she was doing and quickly shrunk down to reveal that she was still wearing her Wasp outfit under her clothes. She flew out the window and made her way towards the location indicated on her watch.

Hank was in his lab, still working on the Ultron Artificial Intelligence, when his watch started going off. He seemed oblivious to it at first, but finally realized there was something on his wrist; he looked and noticed what was going on.

"Avengers, assemble!"

Seeing something was up, Hank quickly stopped what he was doing, he stopped his work and quickly ripped his labcoat off as he too was still wearing his Ant-Man suit. The mask was retracted into his suit with the help of microtechnology, and he activated it to shrink down and leave to help.

Back at the park, Hulk was on top of Thor, punching the Asgardian in the face repeatedly. It was then that Peter swung in and webbed his face to get him to stop. Hulk stumbled back a bit as he tried to rip the webbing from his face.

"Hulk, stop," Peter tried to ease the tension of whatever was going on. However, his plea for peace went unheeded as Thor flew in and slammed into the Hulk, sending them both flying and knocking over a few trees. "Okay, maybe Thor wants a fight. But the rest of us..."

The rest of what he was going to say went unheard when the Hulk grabbed the Spider-Man by the head and then threw him to the ground. Pounding his head into the ground, Janet quickly flew into the battlefield and saw Peter getting beaten down.

Janet flew in and immediately used her stingers to push Hulk away from Peter, causing the brute to drop the more fragile hero. "Peter! Are you okay?"

"I have been better," Peter groaned out.

The Hulk had gotten back up from the stingers and was going to charge at them again. But then a gigantic fist came crashing down, and Hank revealed he had gone big to stop the raging Hulk. "Hulk, you need to calm down!"

But that didn't seem to be able to keep the Hulk down for long as he only used the strength he had to throw the giant man into the park and crush about a hundred trees in the process.

The Hulk then went to crush him on the head, but that was when Janet flew in and shot at him again. "Hulk! Stop it!"

The Hulk then swatted at her, trying to hit her before doing a clap, then crushing Janet in his hands. Luckily, the suit increased her density, so she didn't die, but she would certainly have a headache in the morning. The Hulk then went to punch her while he had the Wasp in the palm of his hand...but he stopped.

Seeing how defensive she was made him realize that he shouldn't have done what he had done. The Hulk then began to gently lower Janet down, before beginning to back away and leap into the air, leaving the team behind.

Peter was the first to get up, followed by Thor. Peter eyed the God of Thunder, unsure how he would get mad at him with his powers. So he just settled for looking at him sternly.

"What?" Thor wasn't sure where he was at fault here.

Peter didn't respond; instead, he just walked over and grabbed Janet, placing her on his chest, where he webbed her into a small cocoon to keep her connected. When Peter walked over to Hank, he pushed on his gigantic belt, shrinking the hero back to his normal size.

Peter said to the Asgardian, "Help me get these guys back to the mansion."

Where the Hulk ended up, however, was far away from the heroes, in the Arctic. He let out a gigantic scream of fury, causing glaciers to fall and collapse. Then he took another massive leap into the air and disappeared from the area.

He missed the fact that he had uncovered something without even knowing it – a shield.

A relic that had been lost to time during the ancient war.

Janet and Hank eventually awoke, with Peter by their sides. "How do you both feel?"

Janet said, "It's like I was squashed like a bug." She sat up and began rubbing her head.

"Not that far off," Peter quipped. He then stood up with a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you're okay."

Janet wondered, "What happened to the Hulk?" as she grabbed her shoulder in pain.

Peter sighed, remembering what had happened. "He left," Peter said.

"And Thor? Where is he?" Hank wonders where he is.

Peter explained, "I sent him to try and find the Hulk." He groaned as he saw the damage the Hulk had caused. "I thought he would be a great asset to the team. It seemed like he was more of a pain in the neck, though. Maybe he wasn't worth the trouble after all."

Janet asked him, "What else would you have done? Send the guy who saved our lives to prison? You had to at least try."

"I guess you're right," said Peter. He had attempted to help the Hulk become a better person, and he smiled at his friend. "I'll get you guys something to eat. Are you sure you're hungry?"

Going that big does have disadvantages, Hank confirmed.

Peter nodded as he walked through the mansion to get something for them to eat. However, that's when he got a feeling, not one of alertness but rather one of concern. He wondered what was wrong and realized that it was coming from the kitchen. He made his way inside and was prepared for a fight when he got a look at who it was.

The intruder seemed to be a man, a very muscular and hairy man from the look of it. He wore a yellow suit with brown accents; his boots, gloves, mask, and upper chest of his costume were all colored brown. He wore a red belt with a gold buckle. The rims of his eyepiece and boots were pointed upward, and his eyes were white with no pupils. His mask was only open at his mouth, revealing beard stubble. The mask was also on the table, showing Peter that he had black hair, blue eyes, and Caucasian skin.

With a gruff voice, the man said, "You're out of beer." As he drank down what Peter figured was the last of the beer.

The Watcher saw this and recognized the man who had broken in. "This... is unforeseen. It's the Wolverine."
