Chapter 59 Chapter 59
Under the watchful gaze of the four, Evan recounted everything he knew to them.
They were highly interested in the state of Hogwarts, the students, the school curriculum, etc. Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff repeatedly interrupted Evan to ask questions.
Only Slytherin remained silent, listening quietly to Evan, his face growing darker.
It was obvious he was surprised that wizards and muggles were at peace. But what was hardest for him to accept was that more and more pure-blood families were beginning to marry muggles, pure-bloods seemed to be a mockery, not a badge of supremacy.
It wasn't until Evan mentioned something about Slytherin's family that he stood up.
"Enough, Mudblood, you say that my descendant will become a dark wizard, you are insulting the great Slytherin family."
Evan felt a strong sense of oppression coming from Salazar, it was crushing him to the point where he could barely breathe, but the feeling of oppression quickly faded, Gryffindor stood up.
"Evan is not insulting the Slytherin family, he is simply presenting the facts, obviously your descendant, the dark wizard named Voldemort, has some ideas resembling yours and I have already told you that your mindset is dangerous," said Godric.
"Blood, strength, and power, Salazar, this is what you and the pure-bloods seek, in your view, it is not wrong to do whatever it takes to achieve it, but sometimes you should be more principled," said Helga.
"Indulging in power excessively will blind a person! Only the brightest can avert such a fate," Rowena said softly, "Wizards should control magic, magic should not control the wizard."
After the three finished speaking, Slytherin made no reply, he sat down, his face was pale, not a hint of color could be seen.
Gryffindor gestured for Evan to continue, Evan decided to omit that Slytherin left the school after a dispute with the other three. From Slytherin's expression, it was likely he would try to kill Evan if he said such a thing.
He hesitated for a moment before telling the story about the Chamber.
"God, Salazar, did you build a secret room inside the school and leave a basilisk in it? I would have never imagined you would do such a thing," said Godric.
"Well, it is my castle, I have the right to make necessary modifications and give something to my descendants to aid them. And don't think I am unaware of the secret rooms all of you built."
"Well, but I never thought you would leave a basilisk..."
"That's not the point, gentlemen! The point is the diary Evan mentioned, if I'm not mistaken, it is highly likely to be a Horcrux," said Rowena gently.
"Horcrux?"
The other three seemed astonished for a moment, and after a while, Godric murmured, "Do you mean that vile spell made by Herpo the Foul?"
Ravenclaw nodded slightly, the room fell silent, not a whisper was uttered.
"Which mad fool would actually split their soul? Unless you want to become a monster, I see no other use."
"You can live forever, but when you split your soul, you will be forever trapped in an illusion, you cannot die or become a ghost."
"It's no longer about ideals!" Godric stood up, "Salazar, the Horcrux must be destroyed, this evil goes against the laws of nature, will you allow your offspring to gradually go mad and ultimately destroy everything it touches, including Hogwarts?"
"If you say so, then I will personally deal with it, the honor of the Slytherin family cannot be tarnished," said Salazar.
"Fine, you can choose what you leave to your heirs, but we must also leave something for the future of Hogwarts, I do not want the school to be destroyed by such a man," said Godric as he paced back and forth.
"Your secret room, Salazar!" whispered Rowena, "we can build a true Chamber of Secrets and leave something inside. Only a true heir will be able to open it at the most critical moment when Hogwarts is in danger."
"This idea is brilliant; we can leave some clues and secret treasures to secure the future of Hogwarts. We can embody our own personal philosophy and ensure the downfall of dark wizards," excitedly remarked Godric. "I am in agreement with Rowena's proposal, what say you?"
"I have no opinion," Helga said, smiling and nodding.
"Do as you please, but I will do it my way," Salazar said with a dark undertone.
Evan gazed at the four excited individuals, the founders of Hogwarts leaving behind secret treasures, "Is this some kind of treasure hunt?" Evan wondered.
"In that case, let's take a look at the secret room first," Rowena said, then turned to Evan, "As for you, I just finished looking at the Time-Turner; it was set incorrectly, hence it took you to a time where you didn't exist."
"So, what should I do now, can I go back?" Evan asked, concerned.
"Don't worry, but we have to hurry, when the magic runs out, you will be sent back to your previous time," Rowena said, "Before that happens, you should return to where you were before so there are no surprises."
Upon hearing her words, Gryffindor thought of visiting Evan, and Hufflepuff regretted that Evan hadn't tasted the food she had prepared. The five headed straight to the chamber with Slytherin's key.
The Chamber of Secrets, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff looked around satisfied; it was indeed the perfect place to store treasures.
"Here, Mudblood, you fell from this place."
Slytherin led Evan to where he stood at the statue; Evan then felt time twisting around him.
"Intelligence is man's greatest treasure!" Rowena said in a peculiar, ethereal voice, "Farewell, Evan Masson, I hope in the future, when Hogwarts faces its most dangerous moment, you can overcome the trials and find the treasures we left behind."
"Evan," Helga said cheerfully, "I will leave my recipes here, so if you find them, they will be yours."
"Listen, lad!" Godrick exclaimed loudly as he clenched his fists, "I will leave a few powerful exclusive Gryffindor weapons, so kick those dark wizards' butts. Don't disappoint me; if you fail, I will give you a thrashing."
Salazar had not spoken; he looked very unhappy, staring at Evan's face, but just before Evan disappeared, he took a step forward and placed something in Evan's hand.
"This potion is... I'm sorry, my descendant, for injuring your gift."
Before Evan could respond, he was tossed spinning, returning to where he had originally been.
He lay on the Slytherin statue; it was as if everything that had just happened was a dream.
