10. (Public) Temari and Shikamaru attend a fancy dinner event. And throughout the night, Shika keeps sending shadow tendrils up Temari's dress. She attempts to keep her composure around the other guests but she is losing it. When she finally gets a moment, she drags him outside to a large balcony where Shika assumes she will yell at him. He is wrong when she starts kissing him instead and now they gotta be quick if they don't want to be caught.
Prompt for ShikaTema
The prestigious summer banquet of the Allied Shinobi Forces, a day to remember fallen comrades and celebrate the nations prosperous futures together, hosted this year in the Hidden Leaf village by Lord Sixth himself, Kakashi Hatake.
Temari and her brothers attended to represent the people of the Sand and their great village of Sunakagure. Playing her role as the ambassador between the other nations with ease. Familiar she had become with Konoha and it's people, with certain people more so than others.
At the current moment she playing her role as elder sister.
Standing before her youngest brother, Gaara, she tentatively brushed his sash with her hand, taking away any stray wrinkles, taking her time in giving him a sharp and clean look, not that he hadn't already stressed the matter by untucking and tucking said sash multiple times before she had intervened.
"Honestly, what would you two do without me?" Temari glanced between her brothers, settling on Kankuro's instant annoyance at her prideful look, her task of meddling in their final touch ups never asked for, just known that she would interfere.
"We can do it ourselves sis, we are mature adults, not kids" he mumbled, slicking back his hair, careful to keep it neat as to not mess up the part she had created in her need for perfection, not a hair out of place she would say.
"Mature" Temari chuckled at the statement, but didn't tease further, focused on her task.
"I for one appreciate our sister's help" Gaara chimed in, glancing at his older brother when he scoffed.
"You just love her doting on you, Gaara" Kankuro muttered sending a side glare to his brother, a small grin threatening his lips while his sister fixing another crease in his robe. Gaara admitted he did enjoy his sister's softer side to them, still rough at times, but ultimately sweet and caring to her younger siblings.
"If you'd stop messing with your collar, Kankuro, I wouldn't have to bother either of you" Temari chided, ignoring his sour mood against her eager one, hidden well under her calm exterior, no one could ruin this mood "we all have to look presentable for the event, we are not just representing the Land of Wind, but our family as well"
With a hum in her voice, she turned to the mirror in the room and smoothed the sides of her dress down. A deep shade of purple, sleeveless and cutting off at the start of her neck, tied at her waist, like an hourglass, elegant and for her own personal touch a cut slit to one side, her tanned leg exposed with each step. At least she knew one person who would enjoy seeing it more than she did.
"You do this every year" Kankuro groaned "pointless when everyone knows us already" going to his collar again to loosen it, his sister's aid only making him choke in the damn thing "Maybe your boyfriend will be there, so you don't bother us" he added, mixed between a pleasant grin and a sneer. On one side she'd leave them alone to be with him, on the other she'd be with him rather than them. Complicated and conflicting feeling still troubling her middle brother since hearing about the news from Naruto's wedding.
"Of course he'll be there Kankuro" she retouched her lipstick, rolling her eyes at her brother's comment "he's the Hokage's advisor after all"
"I'm just saying don't get distracted like you did last time" Kankuro muttered, glancing back with a subtle smirk, just catching the blush as she looked away from him.
"I was not distracted" her statement met with a short stutter, so brief she hoped neither had noticed.
"Kankuro" Gaara interrupted the impending argument his older siblings were going to start, noticing the heat on his sister's cheeks and Kankuro readying to tease her for it "what our sister does in her free time is none of our business"
"You know what dating leads to little brother" Kankuro leaned in attempting a terrible whisper to Gaara "marriage" both turning to look at Temari.
"I can hear you, idiot" Temari rolled her eyes over to the pair, one glaring suspicionsly to her another sighing and returning to the speech in his hand that he had prepared for the evening, just like the other Kage.
"I still don't like you dating Nara, ever time we come here you always run off to see him" Kankuro grumbled, and she had had enough of her brother's comments for the night. No one would ruin this mood.
"It's almost amusing how" Temari began, voice edging with dangerous taunt "just now, you refused to let me help you, yet, you can't seem to let go of the fact that I enjoy spending time with someone else" with her final comment she left their room to go to her own.
"Not like it's gonna go anywhere" Kankuro grumbled once she left, her steps once again a light touch to the ground, her heels silent in her departure like any trained kunoichi "she'll never leave Suna, so what's the point"
"Don't be so sure, brother" Gaara hummed next to him, knowing something had changed in his sister recently.
Temari had been looking forward to her return to Konoha, her last diplomatic trip to the village yielding more than a few memorable moments spent alone with her boyfriend, the feeling still making her strangely giddy.
Those three little words said to her, clinging to every fiber of her being even now. Who knew the cruelest could go soft at something so cliche as an I love you spoken between two lovers in their most intimate moment, whispered words and bare bodies embraced, the low drawl of his voice vibrating beside her, soothing, feeling safe and protected, even if she'd never admit it out loud of how much it meant to her.
Any moment spent with him was wanted and craved, even the troublesome ones as he would say. Coming to a Konoha often had made her soften her sharp edges she figured.
Temari's first glance around the grand room when she entered and spotted him instantly, just a coincidence, a habit, not like she was excited to see him. Keeping herself proper and professional as she kept beside her youngest brother, bowing respectfully to the other Kage and advisors as they began their introductions before the evening announcements.
When she finally had a moment alone, she knew exactly what to expect.
Who to expect.
"You look very beautiful tonight" Him.
Turning just enough to catch his wandering gaze, a hooded dark look trailing the sides of her dress and settling to her arm at her hip. A step forward and a reach for her hand, taking it in his as she expected him to. Shikamaru bent, kissing the back of her hand, softly, but eyes kept on hers, to bare witness to the blush and grin at such a simple gesture, pure and beautiful, but it ended to soon.
Never enough time between the two.
"I see you finally made the effort to come and see me" tossing his complement aside, attempting to push the blush of it down, fixing her smile to a thin challenging line, pleased to see him, but her wait had began to eat at her in those minutes alone. Temari might have missed him, but she wouldn't gush about it in public, and certainly not at a event with her brothers a few feet away, engrossed in a tale from the Raikage and his brother.
"Long and painfully boring introductions with the village elders lasted longer than I expected" Shikamaru sighed, looking worn already, a hand raised nervously to his neck, knowing he should have come to her as soon as Gaara had entered with his siblings.
The twenty minute conversation he had with the Tsuchkage and his advisor keeping him in place, keeping him from rudely interrupting them to rush off and see his girlfriend. As much as he entertained the plan he had duties to attend to before his own enjoyment.
To be near her, to be near such a distraction, especially in her dress, he wouldn't have had any focus on his duty as advisor. The subtle glances her way, attempting to catch her eye, instead making way for a uneasy feeling, tortured, she was torturing him in that dress. Hugging each of her curves perfectly, the tan leg peeking to her side, the lipstick a shade darker on her lips, the thin black painted lines around her eyes enhancing their color, like two of the rarest jewels staring back at him. As pleased as he was in finally seeing her, as she was in seeing him, Temari did not make the moment easy for either of them.
Troublesome as she was beautiful.
"No matter" Temari shrugged, hiding her irritation well, pulling her hand from his, reluctant as he was in distancing themselves in public. As if fate had a say, she heard her name called out, glancing past him to Kurostuchi as the woman waved her over "seems we both will be quite busy tonight at this public affair" she stepped past him, a brush against his shoulder and revengeful smirk set in place, leaving him now, continuing her own round of introductions. The brush of her fingers against his hand, purposeful "shame we can't have fun at these things alone, Shikamaru" she called back.
"Yeah, shame" he muttered, watching her sway away from him, catching sight of the tanned leg peeking out the slit of her dress as she moved to Kurostuchi. His brows slowly furrowed, frustration settling, a reminder of how they had always seemed to rush their time together, priorities always taking their attention, never giving them enough time to enjoy things properly.
A thought, the lingering tickle of her touch against his hand a tease, a challenge.
Troublesome the idea that followed his lazy smirk.
Useless gossip is what held her attention now.
Though curious to the discussion with Kurostuchi, Temari kept glancing back to Shikamaru, a subtle gesture, careful, as if she was collecting intel on a mission. His attention set to his own group, indifferent to their conversation, adding insight here and there, hands resting in his pockets, casual and cool. Ignoring her own wandering thoughts of how handsome he looked in such a fitted suit, knowing what it hid underneath.
Always too busy they have become.
From simple things like rushed lunches, to short breaks meant for catching up, to sitting on opposite ends of the meeting table. So close, yet so far away. Only finding time at the end of a exhausting day to meet at night, hiding in shadows and keeping secrets behind closed doors. Even with a title like girlfriend they kept to themselves. Not that either complained about their time only being between them.
Stealing glances as they should have been right now, after two months apart might she add, but that wasn't the case tonight.
Shikamaru hadn't so much as turned her way, essentially keeping his back towards her. The urge to grab her tessen, left in her hotel room, and knock it over his head became stronger to resist the more she looked and he didn't. Crybaby probably saw her mood earlier and figured he'd breeze through the night alone, busy they had become she reminded herself.
Finally giving up on seeking his attention, making a mental note to chew his ear off for it later, she instead focused on her discussion with Kurostuchi. Her guard down now, enjoying the event as the shinobi and kunoichi were meant too, she decided to put all her focus on the evening ahead of her.
Everything was going according to plan.
Until something touched her ankle suddenly, just a brush of something almost familiar. Temari went to shift her weight, thinking her dress had swayed against her leg, but found her heel stuck to the ground, unable to move.
Unable to move, she knew this feeling.
Turning her gaze down, slowly, just catching sight of something black hidden under her dress, a shadow. Teals widened and she quickly shot the panicked look to him, Shikamaru lost in his own conversation, his hand pressed at his side, a sign held with two fingers, a shadow linking them.
Since when could he do this? Since when did the thought, the idea, the sheer audacity of this man lead him to using shadows as a tease, foreplay, and why did it feel so real?
Quickly looking back to Kurostuchi, the kunoichi muttering something about her grandfather, her voice glazed over in exhaustion, caught up in her own tale to notice the panic flashing over Temari's eyes. The creeping tingle against her ankle send a shiver up her spine, as if he was there, as if his hand was the one trailing up her tanned skin, past her knee, across her thigh, slowly wrapping around her leg, teasingly slow as he could be with his real hands.
Her eyes shut and she let out a strained sigh.
"Temari, you alright?" Her scrambled thoughts halted forcefully and she nodded quickly to her companion, mute for only a second "you look a little flushed" Kurostuchi noted with a raised brow, the grip on her drink tightening with the comment.
Temari could not be caught, and neither could he.
"I'm fine, it's just a little hot in here" she flashed a quick tight grin to Kurostuchi, waving away her suspicions with a fan of her hand, hoping the heat to her cheeks would push down with her effort, near impossible as the shadow continued its careful assault up her leg.
"You're not wrong about the weather here, seems Konoha's humidity is keeping this place hotter than usual" Temari nodded along, listening, refusing to bend her body away, to shiver, to lose her composure, a useless effort, her left leg would not move from its spot, the shadow keeping her in place, keeping her flushed and forcing her breath to remain in her chest, forced to keep quiet.
Temari of the Sand was not a quiet woman.
Finally able to turn a quick look to him when Kurostuchi looked away, hoping her sharp teal gaze would burn a hole in the man's head as a warning, Shikamaru keeping at his casual conversation, hand still resting at his side, sign still held, a twitch of his two fingers, and her eyes shut when she felt it.
The side of her hip, a curl of the shadow, her underwear pulled at her side and she forced the sharp inhale through her nose, thanking the gods that Kurostuchi had been pointing to a display in the back, muttering something about the design, too busy to notice the burn against Temari's cheeks as a second thread split forward on her thigh and to her front, slipping past her underwear, daringly close to her slit, just the threat of a tease making her wet. The one at her hip moving against her side under the dress and to her breast, she almost shouted then and there to stop, the intentions clear, her body shaking.
"So what do you think?"
"Think about what?" Temari muttered back distractedly, swallowing down the whine in her throat, biting the inside of her cheek, hoping pain would help, finding it did the opposite when the first shadow found her nipple, now wishing she had wore a bra with the damn dress.
"The piece" Kurostuchi paused and furrowed her brows, now concerned "Temari are you sure you're alright?"
"Fine" replying louder now, attempting to keep casual, the feel of the shadow, his hand sliding a finger once, forcing a hitch in her breath that she made out to be a clearing in her throat "I'm fine" she forced out better this time.
"Did you maybe drink too much?" Kurostuchi glanced at the glass in her hands, her grip on it turning white as the shadow flicked against her clit, and she jumped slightly, mentally berating herself for spilling some of champagne on the floor. A third shadow, a grip at her rear, as if he was there grabbing it to hold against him, the sway on her stance almost went noticed.
Think!
"I just need some fresh air" she forced through her tight smile, faking all was fine, but still coming off as uncomfortable in the attempt, wait, she could use that "I'm not feeling well" she added when she noted the liquid in her glass shaking again with the next combination of a grab here and a flick of his finger down there.
"Should I come with you?" Kurostuchi offered reaching to her arm to aid her friend.
"No!" Temari blurted and leaned away, the shout loud enough to turn a few curious heads her way, including the subtle side glance from Shikamaru. The task complete, his girlfriend at her limit and he relaxed his hand, slipping it into his pocket, never breaking his conversation as the shadows returned to him.
"Are you sure?" Kurostuchi raised a brow, unconvinced, the blushing kunoichi nodding quickly and shoving her drink in her hand instead.
"I'll be just a moment" Temari turned before Kurostuchi could question her further and began to move, each stomp of her heel dangerous, her blush gone, glare darkening as she neared her boyfriend.
How dare he do this to her.
How dare he keep this a secret from her.
"Shikamaru, a word" the demand met with a rough grip against his arm as she passed his group to head towards the back of the crowd, not bothering with formalities and practically dragging Shikamaru at her side, leading them to back of the grand room, too public to yell at him in front of everyone, seeking privacy, spotting the balcony in the back, her grip tightened, determined, angry, and she moved them towards it.
"A little rude to just drag me away like this, woman" he remarked as she pushed them through the double glass doors, her grip on his sleeve tightening.
"Rude?" turning sharply to face him at his comment, the door shut closed and her anger flashed with her harsh shove into his chest, his push back into the doors making his eyes widen, a stray bit of regret with the secret plan following, he expected anger, just not this much "are you insane?" she hissed, keeping her voice as low as she could to keep people from hearing her through the glass "What do you think you're doing with your shadows, Nara?" the demanding question met with gapped silence, his shoulder raised up, trying to respond back "Shikamaru" and he spoke when he heard the threat behind his name.
"I was thinking the other day if something like that could work" he shrugged nervously, raising his hands quickly in defense "I didn't think you'd get this upset, Temari" her eyes narrowed, teals darkening.
"So you decided" her voice too quiet now, even more dangerous than her shout, he tensed under the leering look that followed "to try it out at the Allied Nations annual event, a public affair, and in front of everyone we know" she stated slowly, venom behind her words, infuriated at the secret he had kept from her.
"I really didn't mean any harm by it, I just wanted to get you alone, since we are always" trailing off, he straightened with a hand to the back of his neck, and with a sigh began his apology "I'm sorry-"
"Stop talking" she interrupted, cheeks still flushed from the touch before, still flushed, still full of rage, still reminded of how wet the whole situation had made her, how those hands felt like his "and do it again" his mouth dropped, stilling his next words of apology, looking confused. Chest heaving, his moment to act and he instead chose to stare back at her in disbelief.
"Really? Right here?" He tried to find a reason as to why her words didn't match the anger behind her expression, the irritation fueling her to grab his suit jacket and pull him forward.
"Did I stutter?" A second more and he took the moment she offered, leaning down to press his lips against hers, each pushing and pulling back against the other, lips and tongue searching for their perfect positions, familiar tastes and memories in each passing second. Moving a step into her, guiding her away from the glass doors and to their side, keeping themselves hidden, keeping themselves from getting caught.
The Hokage's advisor and the Ambassador of Suna, caught together at a public affair, what a scandal!
"How long have you been thinking about doing that?" priding herself in still being able to form a mostly coherent question around their feverish kisses. Pulling back, his lips trailing quickly to her neck, hearing, but not responding immediately "with your shadows, how long?" the rough press against her throat catching her breath for a second, making her forget she even asked until he spoke, hot breath against her now wet skin sending a shiver down her spine, pooling in a endless fire with every touch he gave her. With ever drag of his real hands against her waist, feeling just like those shadows.
"Since that kiss under the elder trees" he mumbled against her skin coming up to claim another kiss, but she quickly used her grip to his jacket to push him back.
"That was months ago" she panted, anger flashing in her look again, months passed without him daring this move!
"We just started dating" he muttered, pulling back more to look at her, to catch the blush on her cheeks and hooded gaze growing more annoyed with his groaning pause to explain "I didn't want to try something so" he trailed off glancing away.
"So, what?" the demanding question making him turn back cautiously.
"I just thought it'd be too much" he admitted, catching it, the look in her darkened gaze, no not anger, but growing desire, dark starved desire.
"Holding back on me" she shook her head, slow and dangerous, cursing himself for ever thinking it without even asking her "don't you ever do that again" he nodded mutely to the scold and leaned in, a breath away from touching her neck, an idea before he settled.
"Do you want me to do it again?" He ventured, hovering lips pulling away from her throat, her breath caught as she forced herself to speak, forced the aching to subdue itself, to keep teasing to a minimum.
"What do you think genius" to feel the bubbling laugh in her throat, his excitement grew, his member twitched as he pressed a final time into her body, the wall behind them would make perfect use.
Dangerous ideas made way and it all started with seeing her walk through those doors in this dress.
Under him, the shadow darkened, rising and following a set path. The threads no longer teased and tickled, instead, they wrapped firmly at each wrist and pulling her back, her steps dragged until she hit the back of the wall a few feet away from the glass doors of the event. Pulling her away from him, so that only he would see her, as if she was prey and he had caught her in his web. The sight enough to remind himself of his aching cock waiting to reconnect.
"So you liked being teased in public?" his voice low and charming, confident as he closed the distance, working at his belt during his approach.
"I hated every second of it" biting back her grin, uselessly pulling against the hold at her wrists, now above her head, while another wrapped around her waist pinning her back against the wall. Teals dropping down his suit, lingering long and hungrily at his member, released from his confines and ready for her "every second" she managed another mention but quieter, anticipation eating at her.
"Because you had to be quiet about it" with his truth spoken his lips gracing hers, silencing any snarky comment back to him. Short lived, time against them, he broke their connection and began the planned assault.
Though the shadows held her, he hadn't let them do all the work, saving his favorite parts for himself, for his true hands. Working her dress up at her sides, even in their haste, knowing they had limited time, he dragging his hands firmly against the soft skin of her thighs to her underwear and dragged them down, quick and shoving the evidence in his suit pocket.
When he grabbed her next, he wasted no time in lifting her to him, shadows aiding in positioning her against the wall. To see the excitement shining in those eyes, retuning to a needy kiss against her painted lips, sloppy and devouring, hungry to feel the other more than they already were. His groan quieter than hers when they felt it.
Sliding his tip against her soaked slit, refusing to even let a thing such as time get in the way of him enjoying every second with her, he entered inside her warmth, slowly dragging the first true connection of their bodies with every inch, with every meek whine she spoke into his mouth, every moment in between merging as he attempted to keep guard of the door to his left and senses alert to anyone who would dare come near them at a time like this.
Shikamaru wasn't a few strokes in when she began, he had been waiting for this. Like a melody of sinful bliss, Temari moaned, anything but a quiet song sang from her lips. He pressed against her, taking her in a sealing kiss, rough in his hold on her thighs, deep in every thrust into her.
Alone, he would have drove her to madness to hear just how much she wanted him, to hear how loud he could truly make her cry out his name. However, here, he had to be careful, as if on a dangerous mission.
It wasn't just his position he worried about, but hers, this whole plan had been risky, but he would have went to the end of the earth for her and although proud to proclaim it, he would never tarnish her reputation for the sake of a short greeting of bodies. Happily ignoring the reminder that her brothers were inside as well, and quite frankly he still had a lingering unease around the youngest one.
When the whines began to slip past his lips, he knew kissing wouldn't be his solution anymore.
"We don't want to get caught, Temari" he pulled back enough to speak, enough to tease her push forward and lean further away with a smug grin. He knew that shadows earlier had worked, but to see her so wanting only made it harder for him to focus on what was around him.
Avoid being caught his main priority.
"I don't care if the whole damn village hears me" she moaned through her thoughtless words, caught up in the moment, leaning her head against the wall of the building, panting out another whimpered whine, her pitch higher with each grind against her. He had missed those.
"I had a feeling you'd say that" confident in his statement, she turned her hooded gaze to witness his smirk accompanying the same look in his eyes when he came up with a solid plan, now determined to see it through no matter what she had to say about it, or not be able to say.
"What?" her question stilled, eyes widened, muffled behind a hand, his true hands still remaining against her thighs as he drove in another rough thrust, the whine stifled behind a shadow hand to her mouth, her eyes squeezing shut, body fighting back now, but quickly settling with his set pace.
"As much as I love hearing you scream my name" he drew out against her neck, voice low and vibrating, taunting her useless struggle, her withering body simple used as he drove in another thrust "we are in public, dear" the pace changing as he pulled out his member, tip still connecting them and rammed back in, her inhale sharp, the tingle of her rising climax burning like the desert sun "wouldn't want to get caught" repeating the motion, claiming the next muffled whine, slow and deep, pressing himself between her spread legs with each connection, and lingering every time she pinned her eyes to his, listening to what they said, what her muffled silence said to him.
"What was that?" He asked mockingly, sliding his hands against her thighs and to her rear, readying "harder you say?" She moaned behind the hand attempting to nod, just the right angle, just the right spot. Staring back to the beautiful mess and holding himself back when he drove forward once. He could feel her tighten, her walls wrapped around his member, pulling him in deeper, another to feel her body fight the shadows, another to drive him mad with her silenced cries, quicker each time, but just as filling.
Her head rolled back into the the wall with his finally few jerks, the scream just managing to slow as the shadow hand moved away and his lips replaced it, to aid her in swallowing her voice and following her high. They came, the peak of her ecstasy met with his own low groan against her mouth, both keeping as quiet as best as they could with the aid of the other as they rode the orgasm.
Shadows gone, weakly slipping back to their master. Bracing a hand to the wall, he slowly pulled out and lowered to set her legs down, supporting her as she regained balance against his chest.
"Shikamaru?" she panted and put a hand to his chest, a pause as she caught her breath, legs still shaking despite his arm around her waist "When we are done here" she leaned in dangerous close, threatening another round with her words alone "I want to see what else those shadows can do"
"Are you sure you can handle it, woman?" Drunk in his lingering high, in her eagerness to continue and try again, he chuckled at her slap to his chest, still a fighter as usual.
"What happened the last time you underestimated me?" With her teasing question she leaned in closer, brushing her hands neatly against the wrinkles in his jacket, just enough to settle him and bring his memoized lean down to her.
"Did I mention how much I love you" breathless, wanting to lean in and press his lips against hers again, a parting kiss to establish a promise, but she kept just out of reach. Her stubborn need to mock him back, he'd have to take care of that later.
"You can stand to mention it more often" with a short lived angelic grin, she pulled away from him, heading to the doors, his gaze dropping to the sway of those hips.
More troublesome thoughts making way for when he got her alone again.
