Natsu wasn't much of a drinker. He knew far too many people who liked to indulge in the stupid act of liquor and getting hammered. But that didn't mean he didn't drink, either, he just does it on special occasions and whenever he felt like he could truly relax since once intoxicated, he forgets how to even speak so he sure as hell wouldn't be able to properly fight. That's what really stopped him from being drunk like the rest of the guild because you never truly know when someone may attack. He had to protect them. Protect her. He'll never let her die, again, and he swore on his own damn life he would never see her die.

But this one time was alright. They just finished a very successful mission and Gray was taunting him as if he wouldn't win a stupid drinking contest so he went shot for shot with him.

He lost count after twelve and the last thing he remembered was Gray puking over the railing and a very angry Lucy.

"Jeez, honestly! When are you and Gray going to ever grow up?" The celestial mage practically groaned out while she hauled a very drunk and very heavy dragon slayer over her shoulder. "I would have honestly preferred you two to brawl it out than get this drunk. Seventeen shots, really?"

She didn't even know why she was going on as if he or anyone else was listening. Erza had left to drag Gray up to his room and Happy had fallen asleep with Wendy and Carla hours ago. Why was she the one having to handle this problem anyways? She was always left to deal with him.

Giggling against her neck, she shivered at the feel of his hot breath tickling her and she straightened up, a scowl decorating her face. "You think this is funny? I hope you have a raging hangover tomorrow." She hissed and he was giggling even louder.

"Lushiiiii," he slurred, slurping up the drool that was threatening to spill out of his mouth. "So silly weirdo Lush," he hiccuped and the two tilted to the side as she cried out.

"No, Natsu! Don't you dare! You're going to take me down with you!"

He stumbled against his feet and Lucy was finally able to hold him up by the arm, the heavy limp swung over her shoulder as his body staggered against hers. She let out a breath of relief when their bodies stood upright and she turned to look at his hiccuping flush face, a goofy smile on his lips.

"You're lucky you're my best friend and I love you." She murmured and she continued to drag him towards his room. "And you complain that I'm heavy. It's like dragging a rock across the hall."

"I love you too, Lucy," he said in between hiccups and he giggled right afterwards. "I love you a lot."

Her cheeks flushed but the scowl deepened as she staggered towards the door to his room that they had rented out for the night.

"Natsu, I need your keys. Where are they?"

"Love… love you…" he kept muttering under his breath, his body jerking with each hiccup that flew out of his mouth. "I love you, Lush."

"Yeah, yeah," she sighed, adjusting his swaying body against her shoulder. "Keys?"

Realizing he wasn't going to give her his keys or was even listening, she groaned out as she tried her best to balance him on her side while she patted his pants pockets. Once she felt the familiar touch of the key, she quickly dug into his pocket to fish it out and jam it into the door.

He was still giggling and hiccuping against her shoulder, drooling pouring out of his mouth that drenched her shoulder.

"Natsu, you seriously owe me tomorrow!" She groaned out, dragging him through the door before she just tossed him on the couch. His body weight made the sofa screech against the floor and it pushed it back an inch, the usual bubbly dragon slayer groaning out.

"Ugh, Lucy I don't… I don't feel…" he suddenly dry-heaved and it made her eyes widen.

"Hold it in!" She screeched as she was quick to rush to the bathroom, grabbing the trash bin to run back out where Natsu was. As soon as she came to his side and placed the trash next to the sofa, he turned and spilled his entire guts out into the bin. The rancid stench of his throw up and the alcohol he consumed filled the space and Lucy was now gagging, her shirt being pulled up to her nose to cover the smell. "Ugh, you are never drinking again…" She cringed as he threw up again, his entire body jolting violently. "I'm going to give Gray a piece of my mind tomorrow." She grumbled, narrowing her eyes.

Lucy let out a sigh and got up, going straight to the kitchen where she filled a glass of water for her favorite dragon slayer. She came back and placed it on the side table, placing her hand on his back as she rubbed soothing circles as if he was on a train and his motion sickness was throwing him off.

This wasn't something she wasn't used to, Natsu was always this sick whenever they had to ride any sorts of transportation but she definitely wasn't used to him puking his head off because he drank too much.

But she wasn't any better when drunk and Natsu always took care of her so who was she to be angry and push him away?

She was still going to kill Gray in the morning if the alcohol hadn't killed him first.

"Lucy…" He moaned out pathetically and she rubbed his back, assuring him that she was there. "Lucy… where are you!?"

"I'm right here, Natsu." She sighed, brushing his hair back from his forehead as sweat began to form. "I'm here."

"Get off of me!" He wailed, throwing her hand off of him as Lucy looked at him in shock. "I need… Lucy…" he groaned, curling up on the couch as he cradled his stomach. "I don't know you… I need my Lucy… I—I—" he gagged, a burp erupting from his lips. "I'm sure you're nice s'all." He slurred, waving his hands in the air in circles that she was just staring at. "B—but I have someone…" he kept burping. "I have a special someone so you need to leave." He gagged, hand pressed against his mouth. "Lucy! There's some weirdo in here!"

Lucy didn't know if she should feel flattered or offended that even when she wasn't Lucy to him he still had the audacity to call her a weirdo. But… did he just say he had someone special and he was his Lucy?

Her mind was running a mile per hour and she had no idea how to handle this as she sat there in shock, watching him gag and whine.

"Lucy!" He whined, dragging out the end of her name as his shrill voice filled the air. "Where are youuuuu?"

"Natsu, I'm right here—" She reached for him again and he jolted, hiccuping and scrambling to sit at the edge of the couch.

She watched him stare at her, squinting and blinking while grumbling unintelligible sounds under his voice. She offered an awkward wave and faced him, waiting for him to come to his senses but he just kept swaying and hiccuping, his eyes opening wide before going back into slits.

"Natsu, it's me. Lucy. Your partner. I'm right—"

"Lucy!" He cried out, throwing his arms out high and he had launched himself onto her petite form making her squeal as he laid on top of her. "Lucy, Lucy!" He was practically screaming and her ears were ringing. "Lucy, there's this really, really weird girl here," he hiccuped and she could smell the awful stench of sweat, alcohol, and throw up on him as he pinned her to the couch. "She was trying to make a move on me! Not as weird as you but almost."

"I'm sure she was," she rolled her eyes, cheeks dusted pink as she didn't know how to react. "Get off me, Natsu. You're heavy and you smell!"

"I love you, Lucy," he wrapped his arms around her and buried his face into her chest making her entire face grow crimson. "You're my best friend."

"Yeah, yeah, you are, too." She wiggled, her brows pinched and heart racing. "Get off of me!"

"Love… love you… Lucy…" he kept mumbling and she groaned out loud as she started to feel his weight crush her.

"Natsu!"

His response was a loud snore and Lucy could only cry out, her arms and body pinned down by the dead weight of her drunk partner.

"Grrrr… You both are dead! Just wait till I get my hands on you two tomorrow!"

Natsu merely giggled and hiccuped, drool pouring out his mouth like a waterfall. "Love you Lushi."

Her cheeks burned and Lucy let out a sigh, listening to him saw logs while her shirt got drenched. She stared up at the ceiling and her heart skipped a beat, her body relaxing against his.

"I love you, too, Natsu."
