Hello, everyone. WaterDragonMaverick here with the next chapter of "Your Turn To Roll", my Owl House Dungeons and Dragons fic. When we last left off, our heroes went to find the three people responsible for bringing around an army of zombies and skeletons. After finding a cabin in the woods and fighting minotaur skeletons, they discovered that the trio were treasure hunters who wanted to use the Galdorstones for something by mixing them with another material. However, the treasure hunters needed to get back the scale they dropped in the graveyard and after some preparations, the heroes went to fight them. However, the leader of the group known as "Beowulf Romero" summoned a long-dead warrior to fight the team while he grabbed the scale he needed and left. After a rough battle where Hunter's Paladin nearly died, the heroes plan on interrogating the two members of the treasure hunters they fought.
Also, I thought it over and decided that because of the mood of the situation, I'll save a comedic "Speak With Dead" scene for later. I do have some sort of idea of what situation calls for a comedic scene like that, but I'll save it for later.

When Luz and her friends made their way to her house, Camila was making snacks for the kids to enjoy with their session. "It should be ready soon. Why don't you all get set up," Camila told the teenagers as they gathered in the living room.
"Thanks, Mom," Luz, Vee, and Hunter all said while everyone set up their table.
A few minutes later, Eda and King arrived so he could join the game and Eda could watch. "Hey, Camila. How's it going," Eda greeted.
"I made maduros for everyone since Luz asked," Camila said as she brought a large platter of fried plantains. "So, what did you all get up to when you were playing at Eda's place?"
Vee took that time to play her role as Dungeon Master and recapped the last session's events. "Last time, our heroes did some research on mysterious stones they found in a graveyard. They turned out to be magical items called 'Galdorstones', which boost the power of a spell used. However, zombies attacked a funeral and our heroes had to fight them off. When the battle was over, they saw that some cloaked figures possessed a Galdorstone. Following them to a cabin in the woods, they discover that the trio were treasure hunters who summoned the zombies as a distraction to collect more of the stones. When the treasure hunters discovered they lost something back at the graveyard, the crew went to prepare for their arrival," Vee stated. "That night, the treasure hunters arrived and when a battle was starting, the leader used magic to bring a warrior back from the dead. With the revived barbarian known as Umanoch, the treasure hunters fought back while the leader obtained the dragon scale they lost earlier. With that, he made his escape while the rest of the hunters fought our heroes. After a rough battle where Caleb Xiloscient nearly died, our heroes were victorious. With Umanoch being put to rest again, the heroes decided to interrogate the two treasure hunters. While one of them died in the battle, Doctor Chaplin knows of a way to ask him questions that he can still answer," Vee stated.
"Oh my," Camila said as she was surprised by the events of the story so far.
"We'll begin our session right where we left off. The heroes put Umanoch's ashes to rest before turning their attention to Damien Vespera's unconscious body and the corpse of Lensherr Craven. What do you all do," she asked.
"Well, I'll start off by tying Damien's hands behind his back so he can't cast any magic on us when we ask him things," Luz said.
"I'll do it," King volunteered. "I got a 19 on my die. That makes a 26 on a Sleight of Hand check."
"You manage to tie up Damien's hands so well that he can't even wiggle a finger," Vee described, chuckling at the high roll King got.
"So, do we ask him first or the dead guy," Gus wondered.
"I say the dead guy," Amity said. "But then again, he'd be hostile to us since we killed him. No real reason he'd be honest with us, even if he has to answer."
"Hmm… maybe we could get somebody to make him tell the truth," Luz suggested.
"I'd do it, but I don't have the right spell slots," Hunter replied. "Maybe Buddy could do it since it's a Cleric spell too?"
"It depends on what their saves are, but it can work," Vee mentioned. "Okay, if you want to interrogate Lensherr first, we'll do that. Buddy will clutch his pendant of Tyton in hand before casting two spells. He'll cast Speak with Dead and Zone of Truth. As Lensherr's body is animated by his spirit, he takes a breath and suddenly awakens. The revived corpse can't do anything but move his head and mouth, meaning he won't actively fight back against you. Buddy also feels that he's affected by the Zone of Truth, meaning that for the next 10 minutes, he can't lie and he has to answer five questions," Vee states. "However, Lensherr realizes that he's being forced to tell the truth and can be cryptic about his answers. You'll all need to be careful about what to say and listen to," she added.
"This will be tricky. Let's start with something easy that he'll answer," Willow said.
"Technically, wouldn't the one casting the spell have to ask the questions," Camila asked as she remembered looking at the official books before.
"You'd be right, Mom," Vee confirmed. "Buddy will be asking the questions, but they can all still figure out questions for the doctor to ask."
"We should start easy by asking his name and backstory first," Luz suggested.
"That would be the easiest idea. Just test to see if the spells are working right," Amity agreed.
"Sounds good to me," Vee said before speaking as Doctor Chaplin. "What is your full name and why are you helping this Necromancer?"
"Let's see how this goes," Eda remarked.
"My name is Lensherr Craven," Vee said in a slightly raspy, yet posh voice to show the recently deceased Lensherr's condition. "I wanted revenge on a man and needed Romero's help to do so."
"That's one question down. Time for the second," Hunter noted.
"I say we ask why they needed Galdorstones," Gus suggested.
"Why were you searching for Galdorstones," Vee asked in Buddy's voice.
"I get the feeling he'll work around our question," Amity remarked.
Vee glared to show the expression of Lensherr in the situation, then began to answer in the Drow's voice. "The Galdorstones are capable of great power. Especially when combined with other materials."
"Like that tar thing we saw," Hunter noted as Caleb.
"What was that concoction that brought Umanoch back from the dead? It was an affront to life and death itself," Vee said as Buddy, asking another question.
"That's three so far," Luz counted.
"The tincture used was something Romero created to aid in his necromancy. It can bring something back to an undead life that is far stronger than what an ordinary Necromancer can create, especially with a Galdorstone aiding in the process," Vee said as Lensherr's body.
"That explains why he used it with the potion when bringing Umanoch back," Willow voiced.
"That potion seems like it would be tough to deal with. We should ask how it's made," Hunter suggested.
"How is that substance made and how long does it take to brew," Vee asked as Buddy.
"Let's see what he has to say," King said as he and the party wanted answers.
"The potion's ingredients are rare, so it takes a lot of effort. It also takes too long for it to be made in large doses. The newest amount will only be ready for one vial by noon tomorrow at the latest," Vee said as Lensherr, looking physically pained to answer the question to show the Drow's forced compliance.
"We've got one last question. I don't know what to ask," Amity noted, wondering what to ask.
"Who are you looking for revenge against that required Romero's assistance," Vee asked in Buddy's voice.
"Oh, good question," Luz remarked.
"Several people… But the worst is one that gave us a common enemy," Vee said as Lensherr. "After answering that question, he lets out a final breath before his body collapses and the animating spirit leaves."
"Common enemy," Hunter asked. "What does that mean?"
"Well, if that potion won't be ready until noon tomorrow, I say we all head back and get some rest," Willow suggested.
"We don't know if it'll be ready by then. After all, he'd only answer based on what he knew before his death," Amity reminded.
"Either way, we used too many spell slots and Caleb nearly died. I say that we all get some rest again and fight the next day," Gus said
"Fair enough. Let's heal up and get ready," Amity agreed.
"We do have to deal with Damien, don't we," Luz remarked.
"That'll be easy enough to fix. When a group of human guards come along and see the damage, Buddy helps explain the situation and asks for some help. They agree to take Damien into custody and take Lensherr's body to be handled in the morning. After the guards assist, Doctor Chaplin guides you all back to town. When you get to the Chaplin House, you patch up your wounds with the doctor's help and all of you soon get to sleep," Vee stated. "By morning, you're rested up with all health recovered and spells ready. After a quick breakfast, what do you all do?"
"I say that we make our way back to the cabin and face Romero," Hunter said.
"Yeah! Let's deal with that zombie maker," Willow said.
"And we know he won't bring something like Umanoch back without a potion. And he won't get that until noon. If we head there now, we can deal with him for good," Amity added.
Luz, Gus, and King nodded in agreement as the party had a plan. Vee smiled before she narrated the scene. "As you make your plans and Buddy finishes his cup of tea, you all decide to deal with Romero by heading to the woods past Speculum Cemetery. However, as you pass through town, you see a guard rushing up toward Buddy," she said before voicing the guard in an out-of-breath tone. "Doc… Doctor… Chaplin… There's been… a break-in at… the morgue. That treasure hunter you told us about vanished."
"What," everyone in the party exclaimed in character.
"The only thing we found was his torn armor. Just what happened," Vee asked as the guard.
"Hey, you don't think that Romero stole his body, do you," Gus asked as Wrenn.
"He's a necromancer that summoned the living dead that were long gone from this world. Stealing a fresh body wouldn't be something he'd be against," Hunter remarked as Caleb.
"Then we'll need to be careful if he's going to bring him back to life," Vee said as Buddy.
"We just have to deal with him before they can steal the rest of those Galdorstones," Willow said as Sariel.
"It's a good thing that we heard they know where the remaining Galdorstones could be," Luz said as Carmen.
"The guard then explains to Buddy that he was able to get the right paperwork done and he has permission to exhume the graves of known magic users buried in the cemetery," Vee explained. "With this, you can go and deal with the Galdorstones and keep them away from Romero."
"Guess that's one way to rob a grave legally," Eda snorted.
"Hooray for graverobbing," King cheered, getting a laugh out of the others.
"But this begs the question," Amity remarked. "Do we start getting the stones so he doesn't get his hands on them? Or do we go after him immediately before he can finish that potion?"
"If he's going after the stones, I say we deal with them first. That way, we can get rid of them and we'll fight in the graveyard again if he shows up," Luz suggested. "After all, if we hide before he arrives there, we can get a surprise attack on him and whatever he brings."
"I like it! Get him before he can see us coming," King said, excited for the idea.
"Okay, let's do that," Willow said, agreeing with Luz and King.
The others nodded as they thought it would be a smart idea. "I could even use my illusions to make him think the stones are there," Gus added.
"Very well. Buddy takes you to the cemetery and after trekking through, you reach a section of the graveyard that's been untouched for a while. Buddy casts Locate Object and with it, he's able to point out exactly where the Galdorstones are hidden underground," Vee explained.
"Is that possible? Aren't they underground," Camila asked.
"The spell's description says that you sense the direction if it's within 1000 feet of you. And it's only blocked by lead," Vee explained. "As such, he points out the spots the stones are located in."
"Philomena will cast Mold Earth and use the cantrip to help dig out the stones. When we gather them all, I'll use it again to move the dirt back," Amity declared.
"Smart move, Amity," Willow complimented.
"With Buddy's instructions, Philomena's able to excavate the Galdorstones of various sizes. After checking all of the graves with magic users, you gather all of the stones and they're in a pile next to Wrenn," Vee described. "I'd like a Perception check from everyone."
Wondering what was going to happen, the party began to roll their dice. "Okay, let's see. I got a total of… 9. Not a good roll for me," Luz said.
"11 total for me," Amity said.
"15 for 16," Gus told everyone.
"11 for me," King said.
"19 to make 26," Willow grinned.
"I have a 3 for 4 total," Hunter said.
"And Buddy is a total of 27," Vee declared. "When you finish collecting all of the Galdorstones, Sariel and Buddy are the first to notice that birds are flying away from the forest. Wrenn is the next one to notice them. As he sees the birds scattering, Buddy and Sariel see that the trees are shaking strangely," she narrated.
Taking this as a clue, Willow spoke in Sariel's voice. "Guys, I think we'll be having company soon."
"Then let me do something to help with this," Gus replied as Wrenn. "I'll cast Minor Illusion to hide the pile of Galdorstones. Then I'll hide."
"All of us might as well do it," Luz suggested before she rolled her d20 again. "19 on my die this time! I've got a total of 23 for Stealth."
"10 for a 13 total," Amity said after checking her roll.
"12 for 13," Willow said.
"6 for 10 total," Gus said, thinking he would be spotted soon.
"I have my cloak, so I'll get advantage," King said as he rolled. "That's a 3 on the first one. But an 8 on the second roll. That makes it a total of 13."
"And my armor gives me disadvantage," Hunter remarked as he rolled. "That's a 4 and a natural 1."
"Buddy gets a total of 15. He's able to hide away with most of the party, but Caleb's armor jingles like dinner bells to whatever is coming out of the forest," Vee said. "Suddenly, you see the forest shaking more. Rumbling out from the trees, you all watch as a large skeletal dragon emerges! On first inspection, you can see its body is ten feet tall and ten feet long. You also see that its rotting bony body is missing several pieces compared to what you'd expect from a typical dragon. Riding on the dragon's back is Beowulf Romero wielding a metal warhammer, but he's also joined by a shirtless Lensherr Craven. You see the Drow's skin is paler than you last saw him with a silver scar across his chest from where Carmen slashed at him," Vee stated.
"Let's see how they easily find Caleb," Hunter sighed.
"The dragon stops when it gets within sight of Caleb, growling at him like an angry guard dog. Romero chuckles menacingly as he and the revived Lensherr leap off the undead beast. Romero has his hammer at the ready while Lensherr is revealed to have a new longbow and quiver. His belt is also lined with a few different vials like before," Vee stated.
"More mutagens," Luz realized.
Vee then gave a deep and gruff laugh as she voiced Romero. "Heh, so you're here to stop us from getting the stones again? That won't do you any good."
"I won't let you steal from this island's burial site," Hunter described as Caleb. "Even if I have to face you by myself."
"Roll me a Deception check while I do a Perception and Insight," Vee told Hunter.
"That's a 7 for 10 total," Hunter said after his roll.
"Then for the rolls I need, I have 2 for Insight. That's for Romero, at least," Vee stated. "As for Lensherr, 5 for Perception. Romero believes that you're alone and his zombie ally doesn't notice anything thanks to the bright sun messing with his vision," she told the table.
"Oh, that's good," Gus sighed, happy he wasn't discovered.
"Romero then starts to laugh again.," Vee said before voicing the Duergar. "I'm sure you've heard of this island's history when it came to the dragons, Edmire and Lotara. Right now, my newest pet is the revived Edmire. With this dragon by my side, I'll be able to deal with you immediately. Then after that, I'll collect all the remaining Galdorstones."
"Do you truly think you can get away with this," Hunter asked in Caleb's voice.
"I'm capable of bringing the strongest monsters and warriors back to life with help from the Galdorstones. I could take on Emperor Belos himself," Vee said as Romero.
"At this time, I say we surprise him and attack," Luz says. "I'll pull out my pepperbox and attack."
"Same with my hand crossbow," King declared. "I'll also have my new silver dagger ready."
"I'd cast Fire Bolt," Amity says.
"Thorn Whip for me," Willow declared.
"I'll use Fire Bolt too," Gus said.
"And Buddy will join in with a use of Sacred Flame," Vee says. "Everyone, roll for your attacks if they aren't saving throws," she told everyone before rolling a d20 for her move.
"I got an 8 for 14 on Romero with my pepperbox," Luz told everyone.
"Same here with a 9 on my die for 14," King said.
"I'll aim for Lensherr with a 12 total," Amity said.
"10 for 17 and I'll aim for Lensherr too," Gus voiced.
"If they're in front of the dragon, I'll use Thorn Whip on it to pull it forward and crash into them," Willow declared. "I got a 16 for 23."
"And Romero's Dexterity save is 10, so Sacred Flame hits him. All the attacks but Philomena's Fire Bolt hit," Vee said. "Roll for damage. Sacred Flame deals a total of 8 to Romero."
"My pepperbox and Sneak Attack deal a total of… 14 piercing damage," Luz declared.
"My crossbow does 12 piercing damage thanks to my Sneak Attack," King said.
"I deal 8 fire damage to Lensherr," Gus said.
"And I deal 2 piercing damage to Edmire," Willow declared.
"Okay, that's 34 to Romero, 2 to Edmire, and 8 to Lensherr. Ammunition, flames, and thorns fly from behind graves, harming the three. Romero yells out in pain as he takes the most damage out of the three. With Edmire being pulled forward, the Incomplete Dragon Skeleton gets pulled into Lensherr and deals… 6 bludgeoning damage from the unexpected impact as he hits a gravestone. That concludes the surprise round. Everyone, roll for initiative," Vee said after marking down the damage done to the enemies.
"Modified 20," Luz declared.
"7 total," Willow said.
"10 total," Amity stated.
"Flat 14," Hunter told everyone.
"9 for 13 total," Gus said.
"22 total," King exclaimed.
"17 for Buddy," Vee said before rolling for the enemies. "Natural 20 for Edmire, flat 13 for Romero, and 9 for Lensherr. Edmire goes first and gets closer to Caleb to attack with a bite. 19 total."
"That misses me," Hunter said.
"The skeletal dragon tries to bite at you, but your armor prevents the monster's teeth from sinking into you," Vee declared. "With that, King's up with Reverence."
"Okay, if I haven't been seen yet, I'll attack Lensherr with my crossbow," he declared before rolling his d20 again. "14 on the first roll and 16 on the second. That makes the total of my newest hidden attack a total of 21."
"That hits. Roll for Sneak Attack," Vee told the youngest player.
"Okay! Time to hit him with… 14 total piercing damage," King said after rolling his dice.
"After quickly reloading your crossbow, you fire another shot and it digs into Lensherr's unprotected chest, right in his clavicle," Vee described. "Luz, it's Carmen's turn."
"Carmen will look at the dragon and because it's a big target, I'll make it easier for everyone and use my ring's Faerie Fire spell to bathe it in a violet light. Does it have a DC," Luz said, asking about her ring's magic.
"It would normally be used on your new Charisma-based spellcasting with Guiding Bolt, but considering the real ring's major use, we'll make this Dexterity save a DC of 15," Vee said before rolling her die. "Oh, wow. Another natural 20. Edmire avoids your attempt at the spell as a violet flame bursts from your ring. The dragon's gaze is now focused on you as your spell failed."
"Oh, and I wanted to test it out," Luz whined. "Guess I'll run over to a grave further away and hide behind it with Cunning Action," she said before rolling. "Natural 20!"
"You become freaking invisible through natural talent," Vee laughed.
"Nice! Way to go, Luz," Eda cheered.
"Okay, it's Buddy's turn," Vee said as she thought over what the NPC would do. "Hmm… Buddy will cast Spirit Guardians. With it, he summons angelic owls that soar in the air and circle him within a 15-foot radius. He makes sure to mark all his allies so the guardians don't hit them, then moves within range to get Edmire and Lensherr. After that, he casts Spiritual Weapon and it takes the form of a spear. Liver Probe, yet again," Vee chuckled. "He'll use it on Edmire and strike it in the skull with a… Natural 20!"
"Woo-hoo! Go, Buddy," Gus cheered.
"He gets a total of 9 on the dice for a total of 14 force damage as the spear strikes Edmire right in the skull where a horn used to be," Vee stated. "The dragon roars in pain as it now goes to Caleb's turn."
"I'll start by going up toward Lensherr and swing my sword at him for a Divine Smite if he's considered an Undead now," Hunter said before rolling his d20. "14 for a total of 19."
"That hits. Roll your damage with 3d8 for Divine Smite," Vee confirmed.
"This'll be a two-handed strike with that, so let's see what I get," Hunter said before dropping his dice into the tray. "Ugh, 1 on the d10 for 4 slashing damage. But the Divine Smite itself does 13 radiant damage."
"17 points of damage to Lensherr," Vee muttered as she wrote down the info. "Next up, Romero and Wrenn go together. Gus, what does Wrenn do?"
"He'll cast Magic Missile and send a dart at each enemy," Gus declared as he rolled his dice. "A 1, a 2, and a 4. "I'll send the weakest to Romero, the middle at Lensherr, and the strongest at Edmire."
"Okay, with all those darts hitting, Romero will use his bonus action to do something you didn't think he could do. His muscles tense up and fur starts to grow all over his body. His teeth become sharper and his fingernails turn into claws. With a feral roar, he becomes a bear-like creature thanks to his multiclass. Romero isn't just a Necromancer Wizard, but also a Lycan Blood Hunter," Vee states.
The party and the mothers were shocked to hear this information. "He's a werewolf!? I can't believe it," King exclaimed.
"Werebear," Willow corrected. "If anything, he could be like a version of Sariel in her bear form," she added.
"Either way, he's making up for the fact Wizards can die from a simple knife," Hunter remarked.
"That's just first-level Wizards," Luz said.
"After Romero takes the dart that hits him in the chestplate, he wields his warhammer and rushes for Caleb," Vee said. "However, he has to pass through Buddy's Spirit Guardian owls. He needs to roll a Wisdom save to take half damage from the spell's effect," she said as she rolled her 20-sided die. "He got an 18 for 23 total. He succeeds on the save and only takes half damage from entering the range of the Spirit Guardians. A swarm of owls flies at him to peck and scratch at him, dealing 7 radiant damage that's reduced to 4. When he gets in range of Caleb, he swings his hammer for a two-handed strike. With a 15 for a total of 24, he'll hit," Vee said before rolling a d10. "With a 1 on the die, he can use his Great Weapon Fighting Style and reroll the damage, but he has to use the new result. And the new result is an 8 for a total of 13 bludgeoning damage."
"What!? Oh man, I should have taken that fighting style," Hunter groaned.
"Hey, making sure your allies are safe helps too," Willow said, putting her hand on Hunter's shoulder.
"Either way, I'm hit bad," Hunter said.
"With a swing of his hammer and his Feral Might giving him extra strength, the plus 1 attack slams into Caleb's side badly. Philomena's up next," Vee stated.
"I'll activate my Bladesong and get in range to use Maximilian's Earthen Grasp. Hopefully, he doesn't run away this time," Amity said.
"With a 9 for 10 total on the save, he's getting crushed and restrained," Vee says to Amity after rolling. "Deal your damage."
"Alright! That makes it a total of 3 damage," Amity said, happy about the spell working before seeing the result.
"Lensherr groans in pain from Caleb's attack hitting him, then lets out a scream of pain as he gets captured by the stone and clay hand summoned by Philomena," Vee states. "It's Lensherr's turn and he glares at Philomena before he attempts to free himself with a Strength check. He gets a natural 20, so he manages to use his strength to push himself free. After getting out, he smirks before speaking," Vee said before voicing Lensherr. "An eye for an eye."
"What are you talking about," Amity said in Philomena's voice.
"He then uses his bonus action to cast an amplified Blood Curse," Vee said before rolling a d6. "He takes 1 necrotic damage from activating his Blood Curse of Binding, which you have to roll a Strength save for. If you fail, normally you would have your speed reduced to 0 and be unable to take reactions until the end of your next turn. But since he amplified it, it lasts for a minute and you can attempt Strength saves at each end of your turn to get out sooner."
"Oh my gosh, it's Stain from My Hero Academia," Luz exclaimed as she noted the comparison.
Amity then rolled her d20 and checked the results. "I got a 13."
"His DC is 15. You watch as his blood vessels pulse with a sickening black color before your own do the same. After your bodies return to normal, you feel as if your movements have been slowed to a crawl and you can't move your feet," Vee stated as she narrated the effect of the Blood Curse inflicted on her. "Sariel's turn is up now, Willow," she told the last player at the table.
"Okay, if this is the case, I'll step out into view and cast Heat Metal on Romero's warhammer," Willow said. "With my flame-patterned flower spitting burning sap onto the weapon, I'll force him to either take damage or drop the weapon. Plus, he takes the damage to start while in contact with the metal," she added before rolling her 2d8. "I deal 11 fire damage to him," she cheered.
"Let's see what his Constitution save is," Vee said before rolling against Willow's DC of 15. "11 plus 2 is 13, so he drops the hammer on the ground as he looks at his burnt paws."
"I won't let my friend be hurt by you people again," Willow voiced as Sariel.
"With that, we go to the top of the round with Edmire," Vee said. "Edmire will attack the same target that Romero did. The revived monster is following its master's orders, after all. So, that'll be another bite attack on Caleb with an 11 for 16. It tries to bite at you, but you push its jaws aside with your shield," Vee said. "But as Edmire attacked, the skeleton was in the range of the Spirit Guardians. A modified 20 for the save, so it takes half the damage from the spell," the DM added. "That's 15 radiant damage reduced to 8. King, it's Rev's turn."
"I'll take my crossbow and since I'm hiding, I'll take aim at Edmire and shoot it for a Sneak Attack," King declared before rolling his d20 twice. "First is 11 for a total of 16 and the second is 19 for 24."
"That hits. Roll your Sneak Attack, King," Vee said.
"I got a total of 14 piercing damage as I fire a bolt into the bony dragon's jaw," King exclaimed.
"My turn," Luz said. "I'll make up for my attempt to use Faerie Fire by throwing a Guiding Bolt at Edmire. That way, I'll be able to let somebody else hit the monster's weak point."
"Roll me a Charisma-based spell attack with your proficiency added," Vee told Luz.
Luz did as her sister requested and rolled her d20. "That's a 10 for a total of 15."
"That just hits," Vee said, getting cheers from the table. "Now you need to roll 4d6."
"Dang. And that's just a 1st-level spell," Eda remarked.
"Clerics are the only ones that get it without specific subclasses," Luz said before rolling her dice. "9 points of radiant damage and the next attack on Edmire has advantage."
"With a golden ball of glittering light forming on your hand wearing the ring, you throw it like a baseball and hit the dragon skeleton in the shoulder. When you do so, the entire body begins to glitter and sparkle with that same golden light. The dragon roars out in pain before we move onto Buddy's turn, who uses Toll the Dead on Lensherr," Vee said before speaking as the doctor. "Return to the afterlife where you belong!"
"Let's see if this works," Hunter said.
"Unfortunately, Lensherr brushes aside the cantrip as he makes the save. However, Buddy does have his Spiritual Weapon and moves it to attack Lensherr," Vee stated. "With a 12 for a modified 20, it hits for 10 force damage as the Liver Probe spear thrusts right into his gut."
"I love Spiritual Weapon," Gus said with a smile.
"Caleb's turn," Vee told everyone.
"I'll start by heading for Edmire and when I get in range, I'll use another Divine Smite if my attack hits," Hunter said before rolling his d20. "That's a 5 to make 10," he grumbled.
"Wait, you have my Guiding Bolt," Luz remembered.
"That's right! My second roll is 14 for 19," Hunter said as he rolled again
"That hits," Vee said.
"I'll make this a one-handed swing with my Divine Smite," Hunter declared before rolling 4d8. "That's a total of… 10 slashing damage and 18 radiant damage."
"Hunter, how do you want to do this," Vee asked, getting everyone to cheer at the first victory of the battle.
"Caleb will decapitate this monster with divine energy that turns the bones to ash," Hunter declared before he spoke as his Paladin. "You died once and you'll stay dead, abomination!"
"You swing your sword and when Edmire's head comes down to try and knock your sword away, you manage to sever its neck and the holy energy surging through your blade makes the dragon crumble into ash. It lets out a death roar before collapsing to the side and scattering its ashes through the gentle breeze that blows past," Vee said before rolling a d20. "Next up, Romero's anger at being burned has him glare at Sariel, ignoring the death of his revived weapon thanks to his feral fury. With blood leaking out from his burnt paws, the crimson liquid then ignites on fire as he takes 1 point of necrotic damage to activate his Crimson Rite. He then lunges at Sariel to slash at her with his burning claws with a 25 total to hit," Vee said.
"I came prepared for this battle. I'll use my reaction to cast Spiny Shield," Willow declared. "An ethereal barrier of spikes made of magical force generates in front of me, giving me some defense against enemies. I reduce the damage of melee attacks done to me by 2d4 and the result is dealt to the attacker as well. If a ranged attack comes at me, the shield is treated as half cover and gives me an extra 2 to my AC."
"Okay, what's the result," Vee asked as she rolled for her damage.
"I reduce the damage by 6," Willow said as she looked at her triangular dice. "Also, I'm not going to roll for concentration on Heat Metal since I already got what I wanted from that first use," she added.
"As for Romero's use of Predatory Strike to deal a d6 of slashing damage with his unarmed attack, he got a 3 to make it a total of 9 damage. 8 for slashing and 1 for fire. However, that's reduced down to 3 damage thanks to your shield that emerges from the ground, causing sharp thorns to pierce into his arms and hands," Vee stated. "Oh, he also takes 2 damage from Spirit Guardians as he moves out of the way and Wrenn acts at the same time as this as well."
"I'll cast Fire Bolt and aim it at Lensherr," Gus declared as he rolled his attack. "18 for a total of 25. Since I know that hits, I deal 2 fire damage to the Drow."
"While Romero attempts to maul Sariel and gets a paw full of thorns like he's trying to dig into a blackberry bush, Wrenn aims and shoots a weak mote of fire at the Drow to at least deal some damage by hitting him in the side. Philomena's turn is next," Vee said.
"Since Lensherr didn't move and I can't move, I'll keep concentration on Maximillian's Earthen Grasp and have it reach out for him again to restrain the Drow once more," Amity said.
"Good eye," Vee said as she didn't move the enemy on purpose after the lucky Strength roll. "He got a 7 on this new roll. He's too cocky about breaking free and keeping you from moving, so he doesn't realize the spell hasn't broken apart."
"The new damage done with it is 11 total for bludgeoning," Amity declared as she rolled her d6 twice. "I also try to use my saving throw to get out of the Blood Curse with a 5. That's not going to break me free yet."
"Nope. Anyway, Lensherr chuckles to himself at being able to get free, but that laugh turns to a shout of pain as your Earthen Grasp clutches at him like a ragdoll in a toddler's hand," Vee described. "He'll try to break himself free again, but only got a total of 5. He's unable to get out of this tighter grip and wastes his turn. Sariel's turn."
Willow smirked as she knew what to do. "Sariel will turn into a Brown Bear and start to show Romero why you don't mess with nature," she declared. "I'll attack with my bite and claws," she said as she rolled her die. "4 on the bite, but 16 on the claws for a total of 22."
"Sariel transforms into her iconic wood-like bear form and bites at Romero. He manages to easily dodge out of the way, but he doesn't see her swing her claw into his face. Roll for damage," Vee described before asking for another roll.
"Two 3s for a total of 10 slashing damage," Willow smirked.
"That'll be reduced to 5 because the hybrid transformation of a Lycan Blood Hunter gives them resistance to non-magical slashing, piercing, or bludgeoning damage. Werewolves and lycans are tough," Vee said as she wrote down the damage done.
"Wait, if he's like a werewolf, would that mean he's weak to silver weapons like my new dagger," King asked.
"You can certainly try and find out," Vee smirked. "But for now, it's the top of the round. Wow, for all the hype I gave Edmire being revived, it didn't do too hot. Missed every attack it tried. Reverence, you're up."
"I'll sneak around toward Romero and prepare my new +1 silver dagger," King declared. "I've still got advantage, right?"
"He hasn't actively tried to sniff you out," Vee remarked. "You can roll with advantage for the attack since he's also engaged with Sariel in bear form."
"Sweet! Okay, the first roll is 12 for 18 and the second is 13 for 19," King said.
"Either one hits. You throwing it or using Cunning Action to get in close," Vee confirmed before asking for specifics.
"I want to get up close and stab him in the back with it," King said before rolling his d4 and 2d6. "Oh, oh, oh! Max damage on the knife," he exclaimed. That's 4 plus 1 and my Dexterity. That makes it 8 with my dagger itself and the Sneak Attack brings it up to 17 total."
"Reverence manages to sneak around and get to Romero from behind, then drives the dagger into the werebear's shoulder, dealing full damage with the silver dagger," Vee declared. "He's looking pretty rough. Carmen, it's your turn."
"Okay, I'll use my sword and attack Lensherr while he's restrained by Philomena," Luz said as she rolled her d20. "2 on the first roll, but I have advantage because he's restrained. The second is a 16 for 22."
"Roll for Sneak Attack," Vee said.
"Okay, that's a total of 9 slashing damage thanks to my Sneak Attack, Dexterity, and Dueling," Luz said.
"With a slash to his scarred chest, you manage to injure him further and he looks like he's nearly dead again," Vee described. "Next up is Buddy and he uses Sacred Flame on Lensherr. With a disadvantage thanks to being restrained, he has a 2 on the die for his Dexterity save and fails it," she said before rolling her dice. "With a total of 6 radiant damage from Sacred Flame, Buddy ends the battle against Lensherr by incinerating his undead body into ash," she said before voicing the doctor. "You had an appointment at the crematorium, but this shall suffice."
"Awesome," Gus said as he was amazed at the one-liner.
"With Lensherr's body turning to ash, the Liver Probe heads for Romero after he was stabbed by Reverence. Unfortunately, it's only a 3 on the die and the Spiritual Weapon misses," Vee says. "Hunter, it's Caleb's turn."
"I'll head right for Romero and slash at him with an 11 for a total of 16," Hunter declared.
"Romero casts Shield to block your swing. A barrier of magical energy surrounds him and increases his AC to 20 and makes your sword bounce away," Vee said before rolling a die. "He then uses Misty Step to teleport 30 feet away and runs as far as he can with his regular movement for some distance. After that, he pulls out a potion bottle full of a glimmering red liquid and a Galdorstone in the middle of it," she declared.
"What's he doing," Luz asked.
"Romero uncorks the bottle and drinks the Potion of Supreme Healing. Normally, I'd roll dice for the result. But since I wanted to use the Galdorstone a bit more, he gets the maximum result from the dice I would have rolled. Beowulf Romero recovers a total of 60 hit points," Vee declared. "While this is happening, what's Wrenn doing, Gus?"
"If I'm seeing this all happen at once, I'll try and cast Tasha's Mind Whip," Gus declared. "If he can't make the save, he can't do all of that."
"Good call," Vee noted. "He's got a plus 8 to his Intelligence saving throw. If he gets a 7 or higher, he'll withstand your spell," she told everyone as rolled a d20 in her hand, then dropped it for all to see. "He got a 10. He makes it and your spell doesn't affect him."
"Dang it. Guess I'll just run for cover," Gus said.
"Philomena's turn is next," Vee said.
"I can't move, so I'll try and use Fire Bolt to hit him," Amity remarked before rolling her die. "Natural 20 on the Fire Bolt!"
"Roll for damage," Vee smiled.
"7 for 14 fire damage with that critical," Amity said. "As for my attempt to get out of the Blood Curse, that's only a 13."
"Spinning your arm around, you create a large mote of flame that shoots toward Romero because he's in range of it. The fire crashes against his armor and singes his fur before he shakes off the damage," Vee described. "It's Sariel's turn."
"I guess that right now, I'll focus on getting closer to Romero and then take the Dodge action to avoid getting hit too much," Willow said.
"Top of the round and it's Rev's turn," Vee told everyone.
"Okay, I'll use my Cunning Action to get in close enough so that I can aim with my crossbow," King declared before rolling his dice. "And that's a natural 1."
"Roll me your percentile dice," Vee requested.
"That's a 43," King said after rolling the d100.
"As you take aim with your crossbow, the weapon simply jams and doesn't allow you to fire at Romero," Vee described. "Luz, it's Carmen's turn."
"Okay, I'll probably get close enough to use my pepperbox and shoot at Romero," Luz said as she rolled her d20. "I got an 11 for 17."
"That'll hit. Roll for the halved piercing damage," Vee told her sister.
"That's a 9 for 13 total," Luz smirked, happy with the roll. "That gets lowered down to 7."
"Got it," Vee said before describing the move. "The second you see Reverence unable to shoot at Romero, you pull out your revolver and fire it at the treasure hunter. The bullet flies into his shoulder, but his bear form limits how much damage he takes. Next up, Buddy will use Sacred Flame to try and hurt Romero. But Romero's lucky enough to get a saving throw of 17. He manages to dodge the holy fire and avoid being hurt," Vee states.
"It's my turn next," Hunter said. "I'll probably head over toward Philomena and make sure she doesn't get hit by a long-range spell."
"I'm up at the same time as Romero, so I'll get closer to him and cast Chromatic Orb," Gus declared. "I'll choose to deal cold damage to him and my roll is a 19 for 26," he exclaimed.
"Romero uses Counterspell to negate your attack," Vee said, making Gus slam his head down onto the table in frustration. "At the same time, he casts Fireball to attack Sariel, Reverence, Carmen, Wrenn, and Buddy since all of them are in range. I need them all to make a Dexterity saving throw. Willow, you have advantage since you took the Dodge action."
The sound of dice rolling filled the room as everyone was tense about the attack. "I got a 15 for 19 total," Gus said.
"17 on my first roll and 6 on my second," Willow said after rolling her d20.
"Modified 20," King declared.
"18 to make 24," Luz said.
"And Buddy gets a 2. He's the only one that takes full damage from the 8d6 I have to roll," Vee said as she grabbed the dice she needed and rolled them all at once. "That's 5, 1, 5, 1, 2, 3, 2, and 4. That's 23 points of fire damage for Buddy and 12 points of fire damage to the rest. After negating Wrenn's spell, Romero points his finger at a small swirling mass of flame streaks toward where he points. Upon impact, it explodes into a 20-foot radius surge of fire. While you all see it coming and jump for cover, Buddy takes the most damage as he couldn't get out of the way in time. After that, he rushes toward the side to get around you and prepare for another spell," Vee stated.
"My turn," Amity declared. "I'll use another Fire Bolt to try and hit Romero. But that's a 4 on the die and misses. I'll just work to get myself free from the curse again. That's a 3. I'm not doing too well while Lensherr's curse is still active."
"Willow, you're up," Vee declared.
"I'll head in Romero's direction and attack with my teeth and claws," Willow exclaimed as she rolled her d20. "3 on the bite for 9 and the claws are 9 for 15," she said.
"That just hits. Roll for your slashing claws," Vee told Willow.
"6 and 5. That's 15 damage reduced down to 8," Willow said.
Vee nodded before she spoke. "With the fury of a mother bear protecting her family, you try and bite and claw at the false bear that burned you all. You can't bite down at him, but you're able to scratch at his face. Top of the round means it's King's turn."
"Reverence is annoyed at what he did, so my Tiefling will get in close in Cunning Action and use his silver dagger while he's distracted by Sariel," King declared. "I got a 17 for 23 and 13 for 19. Thank you, +1 Silvered Dagger."
"That hits. Roll for damage," Vee confirmed.
"Okay, Sneak Attack time. I got maximum damage on the dagger. That's a total of 8. Plus my Sneak Attack… that's two 5s. I deal a total of 18 damage to him," King declared.
"After getting mad that he threw a Fireball at you and your friends, you take the silver dagger and stab at the wizard from behind. He roars in pain as you got that sneak attack in," Vee said. "Carmen's turn."
"I'll use my other Guiding Bolt to attack Romero," Luz decided. "Oh man, I only got a 2. That's all my ring's magic until dawn. I guess I'll use my Cunning Action to run and hide with a 17 to Stealth behind a gravestone," she said.
"Buddy uses Cure Wounds on himself and heals 8 hit points to take care of his burns," Vee declared. "It's Caleb's turn now."
"I'll head for Romero, but I probably won't make it to him just yet. I'll dash at him and use my turn for that," Hunter decided.
"Romero's turn," Vee said as she rolled for him. "He makes the Wisdom save he needs, so he'll use his turn to slash at Sariel with his claws. He gets a 16 for 24 on the first fire claw swipe, then a 15 for 23 on the second," she said.
"He gets two," Hunter exclaimed in shock.
"Lycan Blood Hunters can get an extra attack as a bonus action when using their unarmed strikes," Vee explained. "And he's still got his Crimson Rite active, so that's an extra 1 fire damage with it," she added. "The first is 5 slashing and 1 fire. The second is 9 slashing and 1 fire."
"After the damage from the Fireball, I think that last hit takes me out of bear form," Willow said.
"With a feral might and burning claws, Romero swipes at Sariel and does enough damage that she returns to being her regular Eladrin self," Vee explained.
"I'm still doing my thing at the same time, so I try to hit Romero with a Fire Bolt," Gus said. "I got a 7 for a 14."
"That just misses. We'll say that he slashes the fire spell with his claws as he attacks Sariel," Vee declared. "That brings us to Philomena."
"I try to cast my own Fire Bolt, but only got a 3. I'll attempt to break out of the curse again," Amity said before seeing her second roll. "19! Finally!"
"You try and launch a Fire Bolt at Romero, but it goes in a wide arc and fizzles out. But as you express your frustration, you're able to get out of the Blood Curse of Binding and finally move as you want," Vee states. "Sariel's turn is next, Willow."
"Okay, since I'm out of my bear form, I'll cast Entangle to restrain him," Willow declared.
"That's a Strength save, but he got a 6 for 10 total," Vee says. "With your connection to nature, you have vines wrap around Romero and he's unable to move. This takes us to the top of the round with Reverence."
"Okay, let's see if I can be the one to finish him," King said. "I'll roll to attack with my silver dagger! The first one is 10 for 16 and the second is 19 for 25."
"That'll hit. Roll for your Sneak Attack damage," Vee told the youngest player of the group.
"I got 3 on the d4 to make 7, then I have 8 on my Sneak Attack dice," King said.
"Good to know," Vee said. "How do you want to do this?"
Everyone, including Eda, erupted into cheers as King was able to finish off the main antagonist of Orphechelon Island. "Hehehehe… let's see… How do I want to do this? I know! I'll stab him in the back of the head so my knife's blade pokes out of his mouth and drag the blade up through his skull while he turns back to normal," King declared after thinking things through.
"Should we be concerned that he's this descriptive," Camila asked Eda.
"Hey, it's better in a game than in real life," Eda noted. "Besides, he wouldn't harm a fly in real life," she added, which was proven when Flapjack flew onto King's shoulder and nuzzled against the boy.
"Okay, we've got our finisher," Vee said before narrating the scene. "As Sariel pins down Romero with strong vines, he's left open to Reverence driving the silver dagger into the back of his head. The blade sticks out of his mouth and the blood drips down his beard. After it starts to turn red, Reverence thrusts the knife up and cuts the back of Romero's head to free his dagger. As soon as the blade is removed, Romero returns to his regular appearance and falls to the ground."
"Wow. Way to go, King," Gus cheered.
"After the battle ends, everyone's spells come to a stop and you manage to catch your breath. As you do, Buddy casts Spare the Dying on Romero to keep him alive and stable," Vee said before voicing the Cleric. "He may treat life and death like a thoughtless monster, but he should serve his time."
"I agree," Hunter said as Caleb.
"Buddy then begins to say a prayer to purify the Gladorstones so that they don't summon any undead spirits. When he finishes, you hear the clanking of armor and weapons approaching. Turning toward the direction of Edmire's End, you see the guards have mobilized and look ready for a battle. As Philomena makes sure to put a hood over her head to disguise herself, one of the guards approaches your group," Vee said before speaking as one of the guards. "We saw and heard the commotion. We came as quickly as we could, but it looks like all of you managed to stop this attack. What was it all about anyway?"
"This guy's some sort of Wizard and treasure hunter," Luz said as Carmen. "He wanted to take Galdorstones from the graveyard with the help of a dragon skeleton he reanimated."
"If you go into the woods, you'll find a cabin where he and his allies that we fought before used as a hideout," Gus said as Wrenn.
"We were able to win in the end, but we need to take care of all the Galdorstones we discovered and they wanted to steal," Hunter stated as Caleb.
"The guards all agree to assist with taking all the Galdorstones to be secured where nobody like Romero can get their hands on them," Vee said to speed the scene along.
"Let's make sure to take Romero's hammer too. We might be able to sell it," King said.
"And his spellbook too if he has it with him," Amity added.
"You do manage to find his book that you can take along with his warhammer," Vee said. "When you get back into town and the guard outpost, they make sure to compensate you for helping with this problem even though you weren't asked to help them. They do mention that they'd also give some extra money if you gave them some equipment you don't need," she added.
"Okay, then I guess we'll sell them the owlbear cloaks we got from those goblins back in Kuugaw, the scrolls for spells we have, Caleb's old armor, Romero's warhammer, and that Sahuagin trident," Luz said.
"Okay," Vee said as she checked the calculator on her phone and rolled some dice. "With all the stones you found and what you're giving them, the guards are willing to give you enough money to equal a new full party total of over 500 gold each. They also reward you with fresh spellbook supplies for the Wizards of the team," Vee said.
"Sweet! More money," King cheered.
"And some things for the spells we can write down. Nice," Gus added.
"At this point, the guard giving you your money speaks up," Vee said. "Here you are. This much should do for everyone," she said in a chipper and masculine voice. "You're all pretty strong if you can face off against what you and the doctor told us. You'd do great in the Mountain Bird Brawl."
"The what," Willow asked as Sariel.
"Everyone, roll me a History check," Vee requested. The sounds of the dice rolling filled the room for a second as Flapjack flew over and landed on Hunter's shoulder. "Okay, what did everyone get?"
"I have a 15 for 16," Luz said.
"Mine is an 11 for 18," Amity declared.
"7 for an 8," Willow said.
"5 for 10," Gus told everyone.
"10 to make 14 for me," Hunter said.
"Straight 11 for me," King said.
"And Buddy has a total of 23," Vee stated before explaining what the guard meant. "Caleb, Carmen, Philomena, and Buddy all know of the Mountain Bird Brawl from studies or travels. On Indahm Isle, there's a group of Monks known as 'The Order of the Mountain Bird'. Every few years, they host a tournament known as the Mountain Bird Brawl to test their skills against each other, various creatures, and even visiting adventurers in an assortment of battles. Buddy even tells you that there are two different categories for people who want to fight by themselves or even form teams to battle in the Brawl," she explains.
"Oh, I remember hearing about that," Luz said in Carmen's voice. "My captain loved watching the battles and even participated one year. She nearly won it, but lost on a technicality in the semifinals."
"I've heard of it myself," Hunter declared as Caleb. "It's excellent training for the Imperial Guard."
"I read books documenting the Order of the Mountain Bird. It would be interesting to join the Brawl for myself," Amity mentioned in Philomena's voice.
"They also give out prizes for the best five fighters or groups," Vee added in Buddy's voice.
"Prizes? I'm in," King said as Reverence.
"It sounds like it would be fun. And a good way to get stronger," Gus said in Wrenn's voice.
"When does this tournament begin," Willow asked as Sariel.
"Hmm… if I recall correctly, it's close to the end of the month already. If you were to leave on a ship today or tomorrow, you might be able to reach Indahm Isle within 8 days. The tournament is the 7th of next month," Vee said as the guard.
"That gives us how long," Amity asked.
"That'll be 10 days in the game," Vee stated.
"We'll have to get a boat to sail to Indahm Isle," Luz said.
"Then I say we start finding one back at Lotara Port," Hunter suggested.
"So we'll make our way there now after saying goodbye to Buddy," Gus asked.
"I know that for a well-known tournament like this, they usually have people with healing magic around to help," Vee said as Buddy. "I'd join you, but I'd rather spend time with my family after making sure Romero and Damien are handled by the authorities."
"You've been a great help to us, Doctor Chaplin. I hope we can see each other again," Amity said as Philomena.
"Yeah, we wouldn't have been able to handle any of this Galdorstone stuff without you," Gus said as Wrenn.
"I'm positive we'll meet again. I wish you luck in the tournament," Vee said as Buddy.
"Thank you. Take care, Doctor," Hunter replied in Caleb's voice.
"Be safe," Willow added as Sariel.
"Let's go back to Lotara Port, then," King suggested.
"Alright," Vee said before she narrated the scene. "After acquiring a cart and horses to take you back to Lotara Port, you get there after an hour of travel and meet up with Buddy's old friend from the border guard, who recognizes you and offers to take the cart and horses for you. After you let him handle that, you make your way to the docks and search for a vessel that's heading for Indahm Isle," she said.
"Do we need to roll for it or will Carmen's connections as a sailor help out again," Willow asked.
"When you look at the docks, you see a ship that has black and white striped sails, a black wooden frame, and a beetle-shaped figurehead. Along the side of the ship, you can see a name written in a spiraling font that looks like it's part of a gothic horror novel's title. The name of this ship is called 'The Maitland'. When you approach it, you see a pair of sailors going over a map before they notice you," Vee said.
"Guess we don't need to roll then," Gus remarked.
"It'll just be if we'll have to pay or not," Hunter said.
"I think that after our whole battle, we relax while getting to Indahm," Luz stated.
"How can we help you," Vee said in a polite voice that made Eda and Camila think of a young Alec Baldwin.
"We'd like to book passage to Indahm Isle," Luz said as Carmen.
"You're in luck. We've got to make a stop there before we head for Gigantesco for a delivery," Vee said as the sailor. "If you'd like to join us, we wouldn't be opposed to some extra hands on board. But if you're going to sail with us without working, we'd like you to pay for the travel."
"It wouldn't be a problem at all," Hunter declared as Caleb. "How much would we have to pay them?"
"I'll make this easy and with what money you just got, we'll lower the party total down to 500 gold each as you give them the spare money you have to pay for the travel," Vee explained.
"So, give them our extra coppers and silvers and spare gold pieces," Gus asked. "Sounds fair enough."
"We'll go ahead and pile up what we'll give them," Amity said.
"The sailors look at what you give them and nod in agreement," Vee told them before she spoke as the sailor again. "Welcome aboard the Maitland. We'll be setting off in a few minutes. Go ahead and make yourselves comfortable."
"Thank you very much," Willow said as Sariel.
"As you board the ship, you watch as the crew works to get everything ready and set sail. After about 5 or 10 minutes, you begin to leave Orphechelon Island on the Maitland, ready to head for Indahm Isle and the Mountain Bird Brawl," Vee stated. "And with that, we'll end the session here."
"Dang, kids. Fighting a zombie-controlling, fire-clawed, bear-man wizard and turning a dragon skeleton to ash with a strong swing of your sword. This nerd game's actually pretty fun when you think of the right ideas," Eda remarked.
"I'd love to play, but I don't think I'd have the imagination for what you're all capable of thinking up," Camila voiced.
"It's a fun game. Anyway, the party has earned the right to be at Level 5," Vee said.
The cheers from the players rang out as they were excited to finally get the abilities, spells, and other details they wanted for their characters with the new level. "I can't wait to use new spells," Amity said.
"I can do another attack on the same turn," Hunter exclaimed.
"And I can finally become a Swashbuckler Rogue," Luz cheered. "It's officially pirate time!"
"As if this whole campaign wasn't us being pirates on an adventure," King chuckled.
"In any case, the next session will be our start into the Indahm Isle story. And I've got plenty of ideas for it," Vee said.
"I'm excited! Let's see what we'll be able to do," Gus said.
"In any case, let's work on what we'll be doing for Level 5, then continue some other day," Willow mentioned.
"Good idea. We can work on how we're able to do this stuff while our characters have about a week to sail to Indahm Isle," Hunter said.
"Then let's get planning," Luz declared.
"After more snacks," King added, showing he finished the last of the maduros that Camila made for the group, who had been snacking on them for the entire battle.
"You goober," Luz laughed with a smile as the others chuckled at King's antics.
And with this, the Orphechelon Island arc has come to an end. I enjoyed having Buddy as a guest party member for this arc and showing what a Cleric can do. I didn't show all of what he's capable of, but I do plan on him returning at some point. I hope you all enjoyed him as well.
As for the Galdorstones that the heroes collected, I have a plan for them that'll be important in the story. And as for Romero, he'll have a later moment that's not how you might expect. Damien Vespera will also come back, but he'll have a different involvement than Romero.
Next up, the Mountain Bird Brawl arc. Or the Indahm Isle arc. Whatever you want to call it. The main point is that it'll be a tournament arc for our heroes to show off new locations in the setting, possible allies, rivals to battle, showing off what the heroes can do at Level 5, and even lead into some ideas I have for later. How will our heroes handle this tournament? Will they be ready for what the Brawl has in store? Who or what will they face? Find out in the next chapter.
Until next time, WaterDragonMaverick signing out.
