AN: Warnings, this chapter starts off being a bit depressing, but not really anything else to warn about. This chapter gave me a bit of trouble, and for a while, I started wishing I hadn't injured Sirius because I just couldn't get this chapter right. Finally, I wrote a chapter I was happy with. I hope you like it.

Chapter 67: Serious Trouble.
The silence was almost deafening to Regulus as he sat in a chair at Sirius' bedside, watching his brother's condition get worse every passing minute because the so-called healers had not been able to find a cure, even Frigga and Loki had no idea how to help Sirius, Loki spent a few hours trying, every spell, potion, and poison antidote he knew and nothing helped. Then, after hours of trying to save Sirius, Loki started going through every book on healing and poisons he could find on Asgard and was still sitting at Sirius' side, looking through books, and has so far come up empty-handed, nothing in any of the books had anything close to giving the victim the symptoms Sirius has, and after all day trying to save him, the healers gave up and just tried to make Sirius as comfortable as possible. Regulus, Loki, and Harry sat around Sirius' bed, with tears falling down their faces, all fearing they were about to lose him, even though Loki had promised Harry he'd do everything he could to save Sirius, and despite the fact Thor claimed they had the best healers in all the Nine Realms, no one has been able to help his brother, and it was making Regulus angry.
Regulus doesn't know how much time has passed since they returned to Asgard, but it was long enough for a healer to check Regulus and Harry. Any bruises, scraps, or bumps they had gotten in the fight against Malekith had been healed; Harry, Regulus, and Thor had all had a bath and given a change of clothes, and the sun had gone down two hours ago, and everyone but the three of them had left the room long ago. After his bath, Regulus sat in a chair at Sirius' bedside and has not moved or uttered a word since.
Sirius was asleep with one arm down at his side, the other across his stomach, just above his stab wound; Frigga had stitched it up using thread and needle to stop Sirius from bleeding to death; the black-vein-looking things that had started to form at his wound has spread all over his body, chest, arms, legs, hands, feet, and was now beginning to form on his neck. Sirius had dark rings under his eyes, was extremely pale, sweating, and running a high fever, yet he was shivering, so Loki had covered him up; Regulus figured that was due to the healers stripping him down to his boxers to work on him. Eir had also explained Sirius' symptoms were due to the poison spreading throughout his body and warned it would start entering his organs and shut them down. Regulus suspected it had entered Sirius' lungs already because his breathing didn't sound right; it was hard and shallow, and when he was awake, Sirius often had to pause between words to catch his breath. Malekith had told the truth; getting stabbed by that damn knife did give a person a slow and painful death.
Yet, when he was awake, Sirius tried to act like getting stabbed was no big deal; he smiled when Regulus and the others returned and immediately reached out for Harry to hug him while assuring Loki he knew Loki would save Harry. Sirius waved away any concerns for his well-being; once he learned the Aether wasn't in Harry anymore, he cheered, which caused him to winched, and even though he was in bad shape, Sirius joked and teased everyone. When Lady Sif rubbed bruise salve on Regulus' back and chest, Sirius wiggled his eyebrows at him. Sirius had tried to sound playful and cheerful, but every time Sirius spoke or every time he forced a laugh, you could hear the pain in his voice. But it took hours before his stubborn older brother finally admitted to being in pain as he started going in and out of consciousness until he blacked out and hadn't awakened yet. Eir said Sirius' body couldn't take the pain anymore. Now Loki sat across from Regulus on the opposite side of Sirius' bed, frantically going through the last book, desperately trying to find a cure.
Regulus was not surprised that Sirius had not asked for anything to relieve him of the pain. It was a habit from where their mother used to torture him. He learned at an early age that begging her to stop hurting him made it worse because the sick bitch enjoyed causing Sirius pain, and Sirius did everything in his power not to show she was hurting him; sometimes, a scream or whimper would slip out, but Sirius never begged her to stop. Regulus had seen Sirius look like someone punched him in the mouth; he'd bit so hard on his lip to stop making any noise that it would bleed and swell. His brother was a stubborn son of a bitch, and everyone Sirius has ever trusted has let him down at some point in his life; it started with their parents, who turned out to be abusive pricks, then Regulus, who was too afraid to stick up for Sirius over their family. The professors at Hogwarts, who never notice when a student is being abused at home; Loki, who abandoned Sirius and Harry; Pettigrew, who turned his back on his friend. Dumbledore, who failed to investigate what happened further; the Ministry, who didn't give an innocent man a trial; Lupin, who believed the worst of his best friend, even the family Sirius thought of as his, the friend he considered a brother even let Sirius down, the many times they allowed him to return to Grimmauld Place.
Regulus shook himself of his depressing thoughts and reached up and wiped his eyes, then glanced over at the end of the bed where Harry was sitting in a chair, his head down and arms crossed. If Sirius didn't live, Regulus swore he'd protect Harry, ensure he lived through the war, and be there for him when he needed someone. Regulus will do it not only for Sirius but Harry as well; Harry was a good kid, a bit of a smart arse, but good nonetheless. He didn't deserve any of the hell he's been through, and neither did Sirius or any of their family; Regulus truly believed the family legend of them being cursed, even if Regulus acted like he didn't whenever Harry brought it up, too much has happened to their family over the generations for it just to be a coincidence. However, he didn't understand how the curse was still so strong, why it hadn't weakened or faded over the generations. Someone extremely powerful had to have cast it, and lately, Regulus has wondered if whoever did hadn't been a normal wizard.
Regulus looked at Loki; he liked the god, but was it possible Loki once fell in love with an ancestor of theirs who had rejected him? Regulus knows Loki likes revenge on those he feels wronged him, and he is powerful enough for his curse to last that long. But would he punish someone's whole family line just because one family member turned down Loki's advances? Regulus can't see Loki being that vindictive, but there is a chance Loki used to be worse than he is now, but he did truly love Sirius and Harry, and Regulus is sure he would have lifted the curse that was affecting them. Though there is a chance Loki doesn't know they are descendants of Sigrid.
Regulus turned away from Loki to see a raven fly into the window and land on Harry's shoulder, startling the poor kid; it cawed, then started preening Harry's hair, which still had a red tint, and Regulus was sure it was never going away. The raven cawed again, and Loki raised his head and saw the raven on Harry's shoulder; he narrowed his eyes so far. Regulus wondered if he was at risk of going cross-eyed.
"You get off my son," Loki told the raven, which only made it dig its talons into Harry's shoulder.
"Ouch," Harry cried. Loki slammed his book closed and went to toss it at the raven, but Harry threw his hands up. Loki paused, realizing he risked hitting Harry, and gave the raven such an evil look you'd think he was looking at Voldemort himself.
"You can assure him I am not plotting world domination at my lover's sick bed," Loki told the raven, dropping the book on the floor. He blinked a few times, turned around, put his arm around Sirius' waist, just under his wound, then laid his head on Sirius' chest and started to cry. The raven flew over, perched on the window sill, and watched Loki.
Harry stood up and started to pace while clinching and unclinching his fist; an angry look now replaced the grief that had been on his face a moment ago. Frigga returned Harry's glasses and dagger to him; the latter was once again strapped to his leg. He wore black leather trousers, a light green linen blouse, tall leather boots, and black fingerless gloves. Dressed like that, Harry looked almost as much like an Asgardian as Thor and Loki did. Sif had told Regulus something similar when he returned to the infirmary after his bath wearing an outfit identical to Harry's, except he had been given a red shirt to wear because Sirius had told the servant asking his size red was Regulus' favorite color.
The infirmary door opened, and Thor entered, carrying a gold pitcher, followed by Sif, carrying a tray with six goblets. Thor held the pitcher in one hand while he grabbed a small table by the wall with his other, then carried it over to the foot of Sirius' bed and sat the pitcher on it. Sif sat the tray down, picked up the pitcher, and poured some amber liquid into the goblets. The raven on the window sill flew over and landed on Thor's shoulder.
"Hello, Munin." Thor greeted the bird, which caused him to caw angrily. "Ops, sorry, Hugin." Thor then turned to them. "Mother thought you might be thirsty," Thor took one of the goblets from Sif and handed it to Harry, who frowned at it.
"What is it?" Harry asked, sniffing the drink.
"Mead," Thor said, and Regulus expected Loki to speak up and say something about Harry being too young for mead, but when he looked his way, he was still lying on Sirius' chest crying, so Regulus decided he'd have to be the one to speak up.
"Thor, I don't think you should be giving a teenager alcohol?" Regulus said, but he was too late. Harry was already drinking the mead.
"Do not worry; it is our weakest mead," Thor said as he set a goblet on the table away from the other drinks. Hugin flew off Thor's shoulder and next to the goblet, stuck his head in, and started drinking it. Thor chuckled while Sif handed Regulus a goblet of mead, then sat next to him with her own.
"Thank you," Regulus said; he nearly smiled when he remembered how Sif blushed when she put the bruise salve on his chest. She had to because he had made a nurse angry when she said magic was only good for healing and tricks, and true warriors used fists and weapons; Regulus had replied that with one word, he could have an enemy withering on the floor in pain, and magic was far better than fists and weapons, which caused the nurse to slam the jar of salve into Sif's hand and leave the room.
"How are you doing?" Sif asked softly. She and Regulus had made a pretty good team fighting together during the battle on Asgard. They had each other's backs, and Sif had comforted him more than once since Regulus returned. She put the bruise salve on him, so, in a way, she healed his wounds. Sif has been like Regulus's own guardian Angel, and he'll forever be grateful for her kindness while in her realm.
"My brother spent twelve years imprisoned in the worst place imaginable for something he was innocent of. He's only been free for five years, and now-" Regulus went silent, unable to continue, as tears slid down his face. Sif reached over and gripped his hand to comfort him.
"Brother," Thor asked, "Would you like some Mead? Mother also says you should eat something." Loki ignored him, and Thor shook his shoulder, but Loki still ignored him, so Thor kept shaking his shoulder, trying to get an answer. Regulus was about to tell him to leave Loki alone when Loki suddenly raised and shoved Thor so hard he stumbled back. Loki stood, took two steps to the end of the bed, and tossed the tray with the goblets to the floor, spilling mead everywhere and causing the raven to caw and fly back to the window.
"No, Thor, I do not want any mead," Loki said in a deadly but calm voice. "And I do not need any food. What I need is for you to learn to do what you are told."
"Brother?"
"This is your fault!" Loki shouted, giving Thor another hard push; he looked mad, with his hair a tangled and filthy mess; he still wore his armor, which was ripped and muddy; his face was wet, and his eyes were red and puffy. Regulus had never seen Loki look so…unput together; he was a mess and wasn't handling Sirius dying well, and Regulus couldn't blame him; if he were the type to get violent when upset, he'd be throwing things, too.
"Loki-"
"Shut up, Thor; I do not want to hear any excuses," Loki said. "If you had kept Harry at home, this would not have happened; Harry would not have been at that warehouse, the Aether would not have gone inside him, and Sirius would not…..Sirius would not."
"I'm sorry, brother," Thor said, a look of guilt crossing his face. But his apology did nothing but cause Loki to pick up the small table, the pitcher to fall to the floor, and spilled more mead, he then threw it across the room. He was so angry and upset that he didn't even notice he almost hit Harry, who thankfully had quick reflexes and could duck to avoid it.
"I do not need or want your apologies, Thor," Loki said. "Will your apology change what happened? Will an apology heal Sirius? No, it will not."
"Loki-"
"I do not want to hear anything you have to say," Loki snapped, "Sirius and I should be at home, on Midgard, planning Harry's birthday surprise, not here, with him about to…" Loki stopped yelling and turned away from Thor, who stepped over, turned Loki around, and hugged him. He didn't hug Thor back, but Loki didn't pull away either.
"Midgard," Harry mumbled, then his eyes widened. "That's it…Midgard…We need Fawkes."
"Fawkes?" Loki asked, pulling away from Thor and frowning in confusion at Harry. "Why do we need Dumbledore's silly bird?"
"Fawkes is a Phoenix," Harry answered.
"Yeah, and so?" Loki demanded; Regulus sat the goblet down and stood.
"Harry, you're a genius." Regulus cried, which had Loki turning his confused look towards him; he no longer looked angry or frightening; he now just looked like someone who was about to lose the most important person in their life.
"Would either of you be so kind as to clue me in on why Dumbledore's silly little bird-"
"Phoenix tears have healing powers," Harry said, speaking over Loki. "Fawkes healed me when the Basilisk bit me; he saved me from its deadly venom. It might work on Malekith's poison."
"It's worth a try." Regulus walked over to Harry. He looked down at Sirius to see his eyes open and watching them.
"I'll go see Fawkes, make him give me-" Loki stopped talking when Sirius grabbed his arm; he took a few deep breaths before getting out what he wanted to say.
"Not…you," Sirius closed his eyes tightly and looked in extreme pain as he took a few more deep breaths before continuing. "You can't...Fawkes burns you."
Regulus had no idea what Sirius meant, but Loki rolled his eyes with a smile, then ran his hand through Sirius' hair and kissed his sweaty forehead.
"Leave you to worry about a silly burn while in much worse shape." Loki said, "Darling, I'll be fine; I will be extra careful not to touch him or his tears, and if I do, so, what, being burned will be worth-"
"No," Sirius said, shaking his head. He rubbed his chest, trying to catch his breath, and looked close to having a panic attack.
"Calm down," Loki said, taking Sirius's hand.
"I don't understand," Harry said, "What do you mean about Fawkes burning you?"
"Phoenixes are creatures of flame, Jotunn are creatures of ice, just touching Fawkes once burnt my hand," Loki explained, as Sirius got his breathing under control, or will back to how it was anyway.
"Let me go," Harry said, "Please, Mum, let me; Fawkes likes me; it was my idea, and if Thor is to blame for Dad.." he paused.."Then so am I; I knew I wasn't supposed to leave the house, but I did anyway."
"Harry, I can not grant you permission to run off to Midgard alone." Loki said, "But you can accompany me."
"Dad doesn't want you to go." Harry said, "He wants you here with him." Loki looked down at Sirius, who looked back at him pleadingly.
"I'll go with Harry." Thor volunteered, and Loki glared at him. "You said it yourself; this is my fault. Sirius is my friend. I do not want him to die."
"Do not say that word," Loki snapped, and Sirius squeezed his hand.
"I'll go with them." Regulus said, "I'll make sure neither the big blonde idiot nor the little teenage idiot returns possessed by any Aethers, magical stones, or any other powerful forces."
"Fine." Loki said, "I'll stay here with Sirius, and you three go, but please, hurry; I do not know how much time Sirius, just hurry,"
"The Allfather has not yet reopened the Bifrost; he only let you three use it earlier to stop Malekith. Heimdall will not disobey the Allfather to allow you to go to Midgard," Sif said.
"Is the convergence still happening?" Regulus asked, reaching down and picking up a goblet from the floor.
"They should be," Loki replied, and Regulus pulled his wand from his belt.
"So, this should work then," Regulus said. He turned to Sif and winked. "I don't need the Biforst, Angel." Sif's eyebrows rose as Regulus tapped the goblet with his wand. "Portus."
Harry immediately grabbed the goblet's handle, but Thor looked confused. Harry reached out and grabbed his arm, then sat Thor's hand over the top of the goblet; a moment later, the three of them disappeared.
Regulus tossed the goblet away when they appeared at the end of Hogsmeade, relieved that the Nine Realms were aligned with each other, allowing a portkey to travel from Asgard to Midgard. However, Regulus was the only one still on his feet. Thor and Harry were on the ground, and the former quickly stood and helped Harry up.
"I hate portkeys," Harry mumbled.
"You could have warned me," Thor said. Regulus just smirked at the blonde god and headed towards the gates of Hogwarts. Regulus can't ever remember being in Hogsmeade after dark and had to admit it was a little creepy; there were barely any lights on in the shops and no outside lights at all, and it was hard to see where they were going, so Regulus pulled out his wand and lit it, as they made it up to the Hogwarts gates, which of course were locked. Regulus doubted an unlocking charm would work.
"I could break the chain." Thor offered, looking towards the top of the tall gates.
"No, it might trigger some kind of Hex that you might be immune to, but Harry and I are not," Regulus said.
"Alright, you and Harry get on my back, and I will fly us over," Thor said, pulling Mjolnir from his belt; Regulus gave him a funny look.
"I am not getting on your back," Regulus said. Then he reached up, grabbed hold of the gate, put his foot on the wooden bar across the doors, and lifted himself. While finding places to put his feet and hold on to, Regulus climbed to the top, swung over his legs, and climbed down on the other side, where he jumped down when he was three feet above the ground.
"How did you climb that so easily?" Harry asked, peeping between the boards at him.
"Used to climb trees as a kid." Regulus shrugged, "You two coming or not."
"Nephew?" Thor asked, getting on one knee in front of Harry with his back to him. Feeling foolish, Harry wrapped his arms around Thor's neck and climbed on his back. Thor then stood, stepped back, and twirled Mjolnir. Then, he held the hammer up and flew himself and Harry over the gate. They landed next to Regulus, and Harry immediately jumped off Thor's back.
Regulus turned and held up his wand; it was completely dark on this side of the gate, not a light at all except for a few shinning in the castle's windows; clouds half covered by the moon, and it was hard to see from here, next to him Harry looked around, then took off running in the direction of the castle. Regulus didn't know if it was him or what, but Harry seemed to be running faster than usual, and he could swear he saw a red glow at the bottom of his feet as he ran.
"I guess we run," Regulus said, then started jogging towards Hogwarts. Thor, of course, took to the air and flew. By the time Regulus reached the castle's front steps and bent over to catch his breath, Harry was already at the front doors, shaking them while Thor stood beside him watching.
"The door is locked too," Harry said, and Regulus looked up from trying to catch his breath to see that neither Thor nor Harry was out of breath; with Thor, that wasn't surprising, but Harry, shouldn't he be winded after running so fast?
"Stand back, Nephew." Thor ordered, "I'll get it open."
Harry hurried down the steps and stood next to Rregulus. Thor went up the castle steps and tried to kick the door in, but with all the protective wards on Hogwarts, it did nothing. So, Thor took his shoulder and tried ramming it into the door as hard as he could, but still nothing came out.
"Harry, Regulus, take cover," Thor said, pulling Mjolnir out of his belt again.
"Why," Harry asked, but Regulus put his wand out and cast a shield charm over him and Harry while Thor raised Mjolnir. Thunder rumbled, lightning struck the top of Mjolnir, and then Thor pointed the hammer at the castle doors. Lightning struck them, causing a loud bang, and they were all thrown back as Regulus' shield charm dropped. He was sure Thor had just broken every ward or enchantment on Hogwarts.
"You broke Hogwarts," Harry said, standing up and staring at the front doors. One had half the wood blasted off it, and the other door was blasted from its top hinges and was barely hanging there.
"Just the doors." Thor shrugged; Harry gave him a disbelieving look.
"We are going be in serious trouble," Harry mumbled as he hurried up the steps and into the school; there weren't as many torches lit on the wall as they usually were, which meant the castle was darker than usual, giving it an eerie feeling, but that didn't bother Harry any; the kid ran up the marble staircase and out of sight; Thor and Regulus followed, the latter hoping Fawkes was here and didn't go home with Dumbledore for the summer, because Regulus had no idea where Dumbledore lived, and didn't fancy going into Knockturn Ally after dark, to try and find someone illegally selling Phoenix tears, wouldn't be able to trust them anyway.
Harry didn't stop or take any breaks, not even to catch his breath while he ran through the dark castle to Dumbledore's office, which meant Regulus couldn't stop; as he and Thor tried to catch up with him, the only way he knew where Harry was going was by watching the red footsteps forming from his feet, at one time, Regulus had slowed down trying to catch his breath and lost track of Harry and Thor. By the time he caught up with them, Harry was already at the gargoyle statue in front of the headmaster's office, pleading with it to let him by, but the gargoyle kept refusing because Harry didn't have the password.
"Fine," Harry said, holding up his hand. "I'll just blast you out of my way."
"Nephew, stop." Thor grabbed Harry's wrist. "Let me handle it."
"Fine," Harry sighed. Thor let go of Harry and turned to the garyole.
"I, Thor, son of Odin, command you to step aside and allow us to pass," Thor demanded, and Regulus couldn't help it. He rolled his eyes.
"Password." the gargoyle replied, and if whether or not Sirius lived didn't depend on them getting passed the damn thing, Regulus would have laughed.
"Alright, I'll just move you," Thor said; he hooked his fingers together and pushed his hands outward, cracking his knuckles and making Regulus cringe at the sound; then Thor pushed up his sleeves, walked over beside the gargoyle statue, and the sound of stone scraping against stone echoed down the corridor as Thor pushed the statue out from in front of the moving staircase, that lead to Dumbldore's office. Then, he turned to Regulus and Harry and smiled as he motioned for them to go up the stairs.
Harry went first, hurrying past Thor to get on the staircase. Regulus went next, and Thor followed. Regulus felt a bit claustrophobic in the stairway; it was much too small and cave-like, but he closed his eyes, trying to ignore where he was until the stairs stopped in front of Dumbledore's office door. Harry opened the door and walked right in. When Regulus entered the room, he found it weird that the torches were lit along the walls. A fire was going in the fireplace as if Dumbledore had just stepped out for a moment, but thankfully, Fawkes was here and perched on his stand watching them; Regulus conjured a vail and handed it to Harry, who went right up to Fawkes.
"Fawkes, I don't mean to disturb you, but may I please have some of your tears?" Harry asked; Fawkes just stared at him. "I know it's cruel to ask you to cry, but, well, my father, he is badly wounded, and there is no cure; you are our only hope."
Fawkes stared at Harry momentarily; he didn't make a sound or move, and Regulus wondered how Harry could stand there and be patient with the Phoenix, especially since he ran the whole way to Dumbledore's office. They needed to get back to Sirius quickly, but just as Regulus was about to become impatient, Fawkes leaned forward and turned his head. Tears started forming in his eyes, sliding down his face and into the vail; Fawkes stayed bent over like that until the vail was full of his tears, then he turned his head and straightened up.
"Thank you, Fawkes. I owe you one," Harry said, petting the phoenix's head. Then he turned and hurried from the office, Thor and Regulus behind him. Once the stairs stopped behind the gargoyle statue, it was back in place, and Thor once again pushed it out of the way. The three took off, running down the corridor, the marble staircase, and out the front door.
When they arrived back in the infirmary, Sirius was once again unconscious and looked worse than when they left; he was paler, and the black veins had spread up his neck to his face. Loki was now lying on the bed beside him, holding him close. His eyes were closed, but Regulus was sure he was awake because a tear slid down his face. Sif was no longer in the room.
Harry rushed straight to Sirius. He pulled the bandage from his wound and then pulled some of the thread out, enough to open part of the injury, and then he began to pour the tears into it.
"Come on, come on, work, please," Harry whispered; Loki's eyes popped open at Harry's voice. He raised, and then a moment later, he stood, a hopeful expression on his face, as Harry got done pouring all the tears into Sirius's wound, then set the vial aside and went around the other side of the bed to Loki. They watched silently as Sirius became less pale, the veins started disappearing, and his wound slowly began to close. It took about ten minutes before Sirius took a deep breath, and his eyes popped open, he sat up and then he ran his hand through his hair.
"It worked," Loki said. He rushed forward and hugged Sirius, who still had dark rings under his eyes and was a bit pale but breathing better and alert.
"See, Reigny, I told you, I'd be fine," Sirius said, wrapping his arms around Loki and hugging him.
"We can thank our son for that darling; Harry is the one to think of Phoenix tears," Loki said. Sirius pulled away from him a little and smiled as he reached one hand out to Harry, who took it. Sirius pulled Harry towards him and hugged him. Loki wrapped an arm around Harry and hugged him, too. Regulus noticed Sirius still seemed a little weak; he could barely pull Harry down to him. Sirius looked up at Regulus.
"What are you just standing there for?" Sirius demanded, "Get your arse over here and give your favorite brother a hug."
"Favorite?" Regulus asked, "Siri, you're my only sibling."
"That makes me your favorite by default," Sirius said. Regulus laughed as he went over and hugged Sirius. Regulus was surprised when he felt Harry reach over and put his arm around him in a hug. The four of them hugged one another, and Thor stood there, watching wistfully.
"Alright, you stupid oaf, get over here," Loki said. Thor grinned and sat on the bed behind Sirius, wrapping his arms around all of them. There was a loud pop, and the bed broke, causing them all to fall over on one another. The family laughed; none noticed the raven was still on the window sill watching.
After they all got up and Loki helped Sirius into another bed, Thor left to fetch Frigga and Eir, who both looked Sirius over and announced he would live, but he wasn't completely healed; the Phoenix tears were still working to heal the damage did on the inside of Sirius, so, he would have to stay the night in the infirmary so they could keep an eye on his progress. Two hours after Sirius had been given the Phoenix tears, Frigga finally convinced Regulus and Harry to eat something and then go to bed. An hour after arriving in the guest chambers Regulus was given to sleep in, he laid in bed wearing borrowed pajamas, unable to fall asleep; he didn't feel sleepy, too wired after everything that had happened that day, the two battles, Harry being kidnapped, and almost losing Sirius kept playing in his mind.
A knock on Regulus's door jarred him from his thoughts, and He stood up, went over to the door, and opened it just enough to see out. To his surprise, Sif stood there, holding a bottle and two goblets.
"I thought maybe after everything that's happened today, you may not be able to sleep," Sif said.
"You thought right," Regulus replied.
"Would you like some company?" Sif asked, holding up the bottle. "It's stronger than the mead."
Regulus smiled and stepped back to open the door wider, taking that as an invitation. Sif entered the room, and Regulus closed the door.
Regulus opened his eyes, then closed them back as the sun shined in from the balcony, lighting up the room, hurting his eyes, and causing his headache to worsen. Regulus could feel Sif stirring behind him. Her legs kicked out, and Regulus felt the blanket covering them move below their waist. They had barely gotten through a goblet full before they started kissing, which led to other things; it wasn't until after those other things that Sif and Regulus got drunk. Sif had poured them another goblet, and they sat next to each other leaning against the headboard and just talked, telling each other about their lives; Sif had slipped on Regulus' shirt, but other than that, neither had bothered getting dressed as they spoke throughout the night, refilling their goblets whenever they became empty. Regulus doesn't even remember when they fell asleep, but they had at some point, and now he was wakened up with a hangover; how could he not? When he and Sif drank the whole bottle of whatever the hell that drink was.
Regulus decided that staying in bed all day sounded like a good idea, so he rolled over and put his arm around Sif, snuggling to the lady warrior as they lay there. Suddenly, the chamber door was thrown open, and a loud, booming voice called Regulus' name, causing the wizard to cover himself and Sif. Then, he sat up and glared at the blonde idiot standing in the doorway, staring at them in shock.
"Do they not knock on Asgard?" Regulus demanded. Thor didn't answer, too shocked to speak. Sif held the blanket over her as she sat up and glared.
"Thor, get out, " Sif demanded, getting over his shock, Thor's face turned red. Then he quickly backed out of the room and accidentally slammed the door in his hurry, which caused Regulus to winch and grab his head as he lay back down. Only for the door to open back up, Thor stuck his head into the room, with his hand covering his eyes.
"Mother had breakfast brought to the healing rooms, and Sirius said to tell Reggy to get his lazy arse up and come eat," Thor said. Then he pulled his head out of the door and closed it, and Regulus groaned.
"I better go," Regulus mumbled; sitting up, he tossed the blanket off, then got up and dressed, putting on the jeans he showed up wearing yesterday; the palace staff had cleaned and returned them last night when he was given the pajamas to wear and they took the Asgardian clothes he was wearing to be washed, but since Sif was wearing his shirt, he put the pajama top back on instead, then sat on the edge of the bed, and started putting his boots on, but when he bent to tie them, Regulus felt like he might get sick all over the floor, but Sif moving closer to him, and started running her hand through Regulus' hair, and Regulus was able to stop himself from getting sick, not wanting to disgust Sif or humiliate himself.
"Are you alright?" Sif asked, and Regulus nodded, then instantly regretted it when it made him a little dizzy.
"Hangover," Regulus explained, "I'll be fine, my cousin is married to a healer, I'll get something for it when I get home."
"So, you think you'll be returning to Midgard soon?" Sif asked.
"Likely right after breakfast; I doubt Loki will want to hang around here more than he has to," Regulus replied. Sif stopped running her hand through his hair, and he turned around to look at her, and she smiled.
"If you ever find yourself on Asgard again, come find me," Sif said, and Regulus grinned, leaned forward, and whispered in her ear.
"You can count on it, Angel." Regulus kissed Sif on the cheek before getting up and leaving the room. Sif lay back down and smiled.
AN: A portkey wouldn't work traveling from Midgard to Asgard any other time, but with the convergence and the realms aligned at the moment they did, I hope that makes sense. Thor The Dark World don't say how long it lasted at least I don't remember them say how long, and figured it might last through out the night. The raven Hugin is one of two ravens Odin has in both Norse Mythoggy and comics, and Odin did send his raven to watch them mainly Loki, and yes, he was on Harry's shoulder, and digging his talons in said shoulder just to annoy Loki.
There'll probably just be one or two more chapters with them on Asgard, but soon, they will return to Midgard and Harry Potter plot will continue.
