Chapter 6: Robert Alan Queen

This character is primarily is made of Arrowverse character traits. The early years, not the Retconned later ones. The little we saw of Robert, I liked him. He had his flaws, but he was an industrial leader. This is my take on why he was a womanizer as well. The DCU!Robert was all over the place. The only consistency was that he was an industry titan.

ORIGIN:

Robert Queen is the only child of the Queens in Starling City. He is a very charismatic man and very motivated in the business field. He is also very good at spotting talent. He became friends with Malcolm Merlyn while finishing his business degree at the University before taking a role in the family business. He also met Moira Dearden while at the University. He was taken by her passion and her intellect. He was soon convinced that she would be the perfect life partner.

Robert's business dealings were often difficult, but he was able to manage with the candid advice of Ned Foster. Ned became one of his closest advisors. The one person Robert could always depend on for a valid answer, even if he didn't like it. He also gravitated toward Walter Steele. Walter had an impeccable morality that helped to guide Robert when he felt he was wavering on an issue.

However, while Robert found the perfect life partner in Moira, he was not faithful to her. He had frequent liaisons with other women. Moira always felt threatened by these women, but took faith that Robert always came back to her.

While trying to get building clearance at one of his new factories, Robert accidentally killed a man. That incident haunted him. Malcolm helped him to cover up the murder. He felt that he owed Malcolm for his assistance in this matter. For that reason, he joined Malcolm's blackmail scam on various criminals; Tempest. He felt that those men needed to give back to the community. If it took blackmail to do it, then that is what had to be done.

Malcolm's latest scam to destroy the Glades caused Robert reexamine his working relationship with Malcolm. He has expressed his reservations about the Undertaking Project, but he has not moved against Malcolm yet.

FAMILY:

Robert is married to Moira for 22 years. They have a son, Oliver, who was born 20 years ago. They also have a daughter, Thea, who was born 12 years ago. Robert is peripherally aware that Thea was not his biological daughter. He doesn't care. He raised her as his own.

Robert has a daughter from an affair he had with Kazumi Adachi. Their daughter Emiko was born 17 years ago. Moira is not aware of the child, but she is aware of the affair. Robert is still providing support to Kazumi for Emiko. He has also ensured that Emiko is able to attend Berlanti Preparatory Academy. He may not acknowledge Emiko, but he still care enough to provide for her.

Robert has unofficially adopted Thomas Merlyn. Tommy came to live with the Queens when his mother died and his father disappeared at the age of eight. He lived with them for six years before Malcolm returned. However, Tommy still looked to the Queens as his parents even after Malcolm came back. Tommy only returned to the Merlyn Household because his father ordered him to return. Not because he wanted to go back. He hated his father.

MOTIVATION:

Robert's primary motivation is to be successful. He likes to be successful in business, in pleasure, and in life. A successful company is one way of displaying his business success. His many bed partners are his way of displaying his success in pleasure. A loyal life partner and wife and many children display his success in life. He doesn't deal well with obstacles or ultimatums that affect his image of success.

PERSONALITY:

Robert is very charismatic. He is very persuasive. He is very likable, but he is not loyal. He will lean towards those he likes, but it comes down to how that relationship shows him as a success or not. If your relationship tarnishes his successful image, he will end the relationship. This is how his relationship with Isabel Rochev ended. She did not provide any meaningful success to his image. He disagreed with her methods in business. She was terminated after a short affair when Moira discovered the liaison.

NOTES:

I kept most of the Arrowverse!Robert for this one. BUT… there is a reason he kept going back to Moira. He didn't see her as a conquest, but as a partner. The other women were conquests. Moira was there to help him manage his life at home. Because of how this AU is developed, we should be seeing more of Robert.
