16. Chapter 16: Maseo Yamashiro

Chapter 16: Agent Maseo Yamashiro AKA Sarab

I liked the Arrowverse!Maseo. I used the majority of the character as he was presented in the Arrowverse. He will change in my story just because of the story plot, but I like him as he is. DCU!Maseo was dead and his soul was in the sword Soultaker.

ORIGIN:

Maseo is an agent of ARGUS working in Hong Kong at the direction of Amanda Waller. He is tasked with cleaning up some of Waller's past operational problems and seeking the reason that Chien Na Wei is currently in Hong Kong. He is not comfortable with how Waller handles the operation, but he prefers to keep his family safe… from Waller. He initially joined ARGUS because he believed what the organization was founded for. Its original purpose. It was only after he was trapped inside ARGUS that he discovered how Waller had corrupted the organization.

Maseo made a deal with Waller. Maseo would deal with Chien Na Wei. Once she was dealt with, the Yamashiros would be able to return to Japan. Which is why he has kept them close to him, even in China. He felt that he was better able to protect them if he was nearby. He knew that Waller would not help in any way.

Maseo was made aware of the League helping his investigations into Chien Na Wei. He had not identified the League exactly. Nor had he determined that they were members of the League of Assassins that ARGUS was constantly after. He was not aware of why he was receiving this assistance, but he found the help welcome. He was more than willing to keep them a secret from Waller to help resolve the case. He found the help of the League to be less offensive than working with Waller.

FAMILY:

Maseo Yamashiro is the husband of Tatsu and the father of Akio.

Maseo has a brother, Takeo who became Yakuza. Takeo resents his brother. Because of his Yakuza affiliation, the Yamashiro family has disowned Takeo.

MOTIVATION:

Maseo is motivated by a strong protective instinct. First to protect his family. Second to protect innocents. He believes strongly in the mission… as stated… by ARGUS. He doesn't like how Waller carries out the mission. He doesn't feel that her justifications are true.

PERSONALITY:

Maseo is a quiet yet forceful personality. He is strong, yet resilient. He depends on his wife for her support and frequently discusses his difficulties with Waller… without revealing classified details… with her. He loves and supports his son unconditionally.

NOTES:

Because of how my storyline in this AU is set up, Maseo is not Oliver's trainer, but he will come into contact with him throughout his duties. I enjoyed showing how they interacted without knowing each other. Many of their interactions were similar to Arrowverse, but with the League as a focus, they both react differently in the same way.
