Chapter 21: Dr. Silas Stone
There was no Arrowverse version of Dr. Silas Stone. There was no Arrowverse version of Cyborg. Because of this I exclusively took from the many characterizations of DCU!Silas Stone. I also place my AU!Silas Stone in the timeline to predate the birth of Cyborg. Besides, it was fun to write child!Victor.

ORIGIN:
Dr. Silas Stone was a genius. His primary field of study was robotics. He significantly advanced all areas of robotics, but his primary focus was on nanorobotics. Or nanites. Because of his great intellect and the color of his skin. Silas was frequently dismissed and marginalized. However, his advances in the robotics field ensured he earned his name.
Silas married a fellow genius, Elinore. They were both brilliant, but lacked in areas of social development. When they had a child, they were concerned that their intellect would not be inherited by their son, Victor. They both authorized the experimentation on their son to ensure he had advanced intellect.
Eventually, Drs. Silas and Elinore Stone were hired at the STAR Labs facility in Chicago. This allowed Silas to indulge in his creativity with robotics. Dr. Elinore Stone focused her mind on the dimensional barrier and was developing a way to breach the barrier to further science. While, Elinore explored dimensions, Silas explored the limits of robotics. His experiments with Victor got him interested in developing nanites that could enhance cognitive function. However, the study of the brain and nerves gave him insight into the repair of damaged nerves.
This led to his current experimental process in my AU.

FAMILY:
Dr. Elinore Stone (spouse): Genius. Focus on Dimensional Barrier and creating a rift to the Barrier to expand knowledge. [precursor to the accident that caused the death of Elinore and the birth of Cyborg].
Victor Stone (blood): Child prodigy. Age 13 in my AU. Likes to focus on his friends and sports, much to his parents' dismay. Most of his interest in sports was because he was rebelling against his parents' constant emphasis on the mind.

MOTIVATION:
Silas was motivated by the advancement of knowledge. He was frequently belittled and marginalized as a black man for his intellect. He was better received when people had no idea of his race. He married a genius, black woman to ensure the stereotype died with his father's generation.
Silas cared deeply for his wife and son, but has a hard time connecting to his emotions. He found it easier to fall back on his unemotional scientific persona than dive into his emotions. He had a moral center. He saw the value for certain scientific safeguards. However, he believed that if his experiments did not affect others, then he has met those safeguards. The safeguards are in place to protect others.

PERSONALITY:
Silas has a very clinical personality. As a scientist, he finds emotions messy. He prefers the emotional detachment granted in his scientific persona. His desire was to become an equal in the eyes of society. To this end, he drove the advancement of science. Using that as the best marker for honesty. Science does not lie. Men do.

NOTES:
The DCU has a large variety of Dr. Silas Stone characters to choose from, but most of their back story was the same… roughly. I kept the aspect of experimenting on Victor as a child because of how later Silas was portrayed in multiple versions. Mind over physical. Mind was the only important thing. He was in constant conflict with teenaged Victor because he refused to support his football team. It was only when Victor's life was on the line that he tried to reconnect to his son. I kept that… then added a dog.
