Bo and Tamsin are out in the field tracking Inari, Bo lagging behind. "You need a break?" asks Tamsin.
"No, no break. Just research," says Bo, out of breath. "So, what is it that you do or did?"
"I tracked people in another lifetime. I have to admit I'm halfway enjoying this," answers Tamsin, with a smirk.
Bo leans against a tree. "I guess the real question is how the heck did you end up working for homicide, and here?"
Tamsin sighs. "Got under the wrong people's skin I suppose."
Bo frowns. "I'm being serious Tamsin."
"So am I," says Tamsin, shaking her head.
Bo takes a moment. "That's it. I can smell it."
"Smell what?" asks Tamsin, looking at her oddly.
"Clay. I smelled it when Inari gave me ice cream back at The Dal. We must be close."
"Is that a new Succubus power or something?"
Bo thinks about it. "Not that I know of." She is breathing heavily.
Tamsin is looking at Bo like she is a sick hospital patient. "Dude, you look…"
Bo interrupts. "Fine. I'm fine. Let's get going."
Meanwhile Dyson, who was lying next to Inari at his apartment, awakens to her coming on to him. They duke it out, and she grabs for his gun. A shot is fired. At the same time, Kenzi is in the cave trying to be one with the Jedi force in an effort to escape. She grabs an earring and works on releasing herself.
Back at Dyson's. Lauren shows up to find Inari dead, and Dyson tripping out. She runs a test and it comes up Fae. They both regret not believing Bo. Dyson decides to track Tamsin and Bo.
In the field. Bo can barely keep up, falling to the ground. "Didn't peg you to be the Marlboro Man," says Tamsin.
"I'm not. I am just the world's most worst friend," says Bo, resting on her knees now.
Tamsin frowns. "Really? I don't know anyone who would go through all this trouble for me, even if I were being swallowed by an anaconda in front of them."
Bo looks like she is about to pass out. "You should really consider who you let into your inner circle."
Tamsin seems confused. "Why are you doing all this for a human anyway?"
"Because...it's for Kenzi," replies Bo. Tamsin does this is-that-it look. "She is the most caring and considerate person I've ever known. Kenzi, she doesn't judge me. And she makes me feel…she makes me feel like I belong, like I have a place in this world…And she accepts me for who I am." Bo takes a long pause. "She was there for me when no one else was…And I know that if the shoe were on the other foot, she would go through hell and hot water just to get me back," she says. Tamsin looks like she is beginning to understand. Bo continues. "I love her with all of my heart. And now she's gone." Bo shakes her head. "I don't even know for how long…Tamsin, if I don't make it, will you find her? I mean it, please find her for me…All I wish is for her safety."
Tamsin frowns at this statement. "Um okay, I'm gonna need you to snap out of this shit. Inari's no joke, and you need to be on a hundred when we face her. So get your shit together."
Bo nods her head. "Yeah, you're right." She barely stands back up.
"Dude, when was the last time you had a meal, last year?"
Bo sighs. "I don't even know. Everything is so complicated."
Tamsin rolls her eyes. "Well, you're obviously very hungry, so you can um, you can do your thing." She clears her throat. "On me."
"What?" says Bo, in shock. "Thought you didn't care if I live or die?"
"Well, I don't," says Tamsin, folding her arms. "But that's not the issue. Now hurry up before I change my mind," she says. Bo moves closer to her. "I so hope this won't be some shit that I'm going to end up regretting later."
Bo reaches kissing range and starts sucking Tamsin's chi. At first it seemed harmless, and quite refreshing, but then Tamsin starts feeling the pain of it. Bo continues as if she were a leech draining someone of their blood. Then Tamsin's eyes begin to turn red. Tamsin pushes Bo off of her, and hurriedly turns away from her, bending over drained. Her eyes return to normal and she looks at Bo pissed. Bo on the other hand is looking like she's high, her eyes beaming blue.
"What the fuck was that! Does this look like the Hunger Games to you!?" says Tamsin, trying to catch her breath. "Damn were you planning on leaving anything for me like life!?"
"Oh wow," says Bo, trying to compose herself. "I'm sorry. It's been awhile. And I forgot about how incredible your, I mean chi period, I forgot what that felt like, inside of me." Bo starts cheesing like she has just smoked some ganja. "Damn, that was good."
Tamsin smiles a little. "Well not that I like to toot my own horn, but yeah I get that a lot."
"It was awesome," says Bo. Then she frowns a little. "But it tasted different," she says. Tamsin gives her a strange look. "You know, it was different from other chi I tasted I mean."
Tamsin fixes her jacket. "Happy that you approved. Now let's be on our way."
They locate the hideout cave and see that it is guarded. Tamsin is still a bit weakened from Bo taking too much of her chi, she doesn't show it however. "Looks like we have a couple of unfriendlies," she says.
"Just my kind of crowd," says Bo, oddly excited.
Back at The Dal. Trick and Lauren are arguing over Bo's test results yet again. They come to their senses, and Trick asks Lauren to help him make an herbal tonic for Bo in which she agrees.
At the cave. One of the Under-Fae is about to attack Kenzi just as soon as she breaks out of her chains. He falls to the ground with a dagger in his back, Bo behind him. She rushes over to Kenzi, and the two hug. Then he gets back up, but his neck is broken by Dyson. He tells Bo to help Tamsin outside.
Bo runs out and sees Tamsin on the ground. She grabs the chain that was restraining the Under-Fae and uses it to choke him to death.
"Oh this shit is far from over," says Tamsin, standing up. Suddenly her eyes turn a milky black. The corpse with pale white eyes stands to its feet. Tamsin grabs it, and things start to move inside of its body as if it were full of snakes. Bo is wondering what the hell is going on. Then out of nowhere chains come from out of its body, destroying it into pieces, blood, bones, flesh and guts surrounding them. Tamsin's eyes return to normal.
Bo is frowning, and feeling kind of sick from the sight. "Tamsin, that was really disgusting."
"Sorry about that, he pissed me off. You didn't get any on you did you?"
"No, thank goodness. Just an added bonus to my nightmares, and loss of appetite."
"My bad." Tamsin sighs. "Anyway, thanks for your…um help."
"You don't have to thank me. I'm the one who owes you remember?"
"No, you don't." Tamsin sighs. "Anyway, let's just leave it like that."
"Okay," says Bo, with a smile.
Tamsin clears her throat. "So um, how are you, you know, feeling?"
Bo's eyes glitter. "Great. Um, I mean a lot better." She continues to smize, i.e., smile with her eyes. "Thanks for asking."
Dyson comes out of the cave with Kenzi. "There's Kenzi," says Tamsin, looking over to them.
Bo turns around. She then goes over to them. Tamsin watches the three of them interact with each other. She begins to feel some kind of way, but doesn't know why, perhaps from their loyalty towards one another. Tamsin looks down, thinking, and when she looks back up she sees Bo smiling at her. Then the others look towards her in appreciation. She doesn't know what to feel but awkward.
Later, inside of a Dark Fae hospital, Tamsin pays a visit to the Dark Fae in a coma. She awakens him with her will. He asks her many questions to which she answers, but she only has one, wanting to know if Bo was the one who attacked him, showing him a photo of Bo. He confirms it, but he's in a lot of pain. Tamsin takes pity on him as he asks for a release. Knowing that he will be in a vegetative state for the rest of his life, she decides to stop his suffering by killing him. Tamsin walks out of the room as nurses and the doctor rush into it. The Morrigan catches her before she exits.
"So?" says The Morrigan, happily.
"So," Tamsin replies, with a frown.
"Well?" says The Morrigan, annoyed. "Did he say anything?"
Tamsin sighs. "No, he kinda died."
The Morrigan is looking rather pissed off. "Tamsin, you had better be joking. Because if you're not, or if you are lying to me, there's going to be hell to pay! So you better think, long and hard, do you really want to go there with me?"
Tamsin smirks. "Like I said, he's dead."
"Alright," says The Morrigan, nodding. "You always seem to find a way to disappoint me. And you're allowing that bitch to come between us."
"I'm not doing anything Morrigan. But if you feel that way, maybe you should really consider who you let into your inner circle," says Tamsin. She walks out.
The Morrigan flips her hair and walks away.
At The Dal. Kenzi is fast asleep after having consumed quite a sizeable meal, Dyson by her side. Bo has just finished drinking the tonic that Trick and Lauren created her. Now all three are downstairs discussing Bo's current condition. This is where Bo learns that her body has been devolving due to The Dawning, a Fae right of passage that usually occurs the first 200 years of life. Trick immediately tells Bo that she must train soon for it, or else she will end up like this thing that he has locked up in lower levels of his establishment. Bo looks inside of the cell and is disturbed by what she sees. It was a Satyr, but since it did not pass The Dawning, it devolved into an Under-Fae, unfit to live in society. Now Bo is afraid that the same thing may happen to her.
The next morning at The Dal, the first task at hand is for Bo to cross the Threshold that Trick has in his office. Trick is trying to teach her different mind techniques, but it doesn't seem to be working. The Threshold's force field denies her entrance by way of harm. Bo becomes frustrated and leaves. Soon after, Trick enlists the help of Stella Nashira, a Lodestar, who apparently has appointments years prior for her assistance/guidance. Trick goes on to thank her immensely for taking Bo in on such short notice.
The crack shack. Bo is in the middle of having a nightmare. She is dreaming about the night that she accidentally killed her first boyfriend. Then she sees a creature with horns feeding on something quite disgustingly. It turns around and it has her face. Bo wakes up to the ringing of her phone. It's Trick, calling her to come to The Dal where she meets Stella, who tells her that she has something inside of her that is blocking her from crossing the Threshold. Bo tells Stella a bit about her past and her adoptive life. Stella then tells her that she has to return home and make matters right, much to the dismay of Bo.
The next day at the crack shack. Bo and Lauren are discussing Bo's disdain of going back home. Lauren wants to go with Bo, but Bo wants her to find some kind of cure for her instead, telling her that Kenzi would probably benefit more by getting out of the house with her. Lauren gives Bo three syringes of a formula that is supposed to suppress the cells that are attacking Bo, just in case she goes off the hinges again.
On the road. Bo and Kenzi take the five-hour drive back to Bo's hometown of Grimley. It just so happens to be the time of its annual Cherry Festival there. Bo visits her adoptive mother, who seems to be suffering from Dementia. Instead of thinking that she would be confronting a mother who verbally abused her when she was younger, Bo gets the polar opposite, a warm, loving individual, happy and all smiles. This makes matters a bit difficult for Bo. She and Kenzi end up going off to the festival where she bumps into former high school pals.
After hearing about the recent death of one of her classmates, Bo later learns that it may not be just a tragic accident after all. Upon returning to her mom, she finds her outside hanging up linen on a clothes-line. Then an Under-Fae appears before them, looking like something out of a horror movie. Bo tries to attack it, but it disappears. Her mother then reverts to her old ways of badgering, and Bo runs off, leaving Kenzi behind on purpose. Kenzi calls Trick and receives major intel on the scary lady that has been terrorizing the county. Poludnica, better known as Lady Polly, an Under-Fae who kills those who summon her in the form of staged accidents. Trick warns Kenzi that if she kills everyone that summoned her then she can escape the county lines, meaning bad for everyone else.
Kenzi takes Bo's mother's car and finds Bo at the festival, drinking free samples of cherry wine. She starts changing and tripping out, and Kenzi needles her. Then when Bo comes back to herself, Kenzi tells Bo of the information that she got from Trick. Bo feels responsible for that as well, since she was there with her friends when they all performed a séance back in the day. She decides to stay there and rid the town of Lady Polly to which she does by way of a well, kicking Lady Polly inside of it. Before leaving, Bo finally has a heart to heart with her mother. Bo tells her mom how she felt over the years, and what she has become, about the family and friends that she has now. And Bo is able to finally forgive her mother.
The return to The Dal. Bo is able to cross the Threshold. Thinking that she is almost there as far as being ready for The Dawning, Stella bursts her bubble by telling Bo that that was just the tip of the iceberg. That Bo was only granted access to this so-called temple where she has to go through even more trials. Bo's smile is turned upside down when she hears that she has to have even more training.
At the crack shack. Kenzi is in the kitchen preparing some kind of edible concoction when Bo enters. She sits down at the table, and tells Kenzi about her time at The Dal. Bo notices that Kenzi still hasn't fully reactivated due to her recent nightmare with Inari. When Bo asks her about it, Kenzi isn't ready to talk. Bo is understanding of this, but then she asks Kenzi a question that's really been bugging her since she found out about it. Kenzi doesn't respond.
"Um okay," says Bo, with a frown. "Kenzi, I asked you what made you go to The Norn?"
Kenzi sighs. "I guess I could answer that, I mean it's a fair question right?" She goes over to the cabinet and grabs a bottle of wine. "You want some?"
"Didn't realize that it was going to be that kind of conversation, and sure," says Bo, still frowning. Kenzi opens the bottle and pours the two of them a glass. She sits in a chair near Bo, and drinks her drink entirely then refills her glass. "Um…is it really that serious?" says Bo.
Kenzi nods her head. "Oh yeah." She pauses, then. "I thought I was helping, you know. I just couldn't stand it anymore."
"Stand what? What are you trying to say Kenzi?"
"Dyson. He was all fucked up and shit. And you, you were all fucked up and shit. So I…I took it upon myself to do something about it." Kenzi takes a deep breath. "I didn't want to take it that far you know, but the bitch rubbed me the wrong way. So I went back later with a chainsaw. And I chopped her damn door down. Busted in and started chop sueying the tree until she gave me the bottle."
"What bottle Kenzi?"
"The bottle…the bottle with Dyson's love in it." Kenzi sighs. "Well, what had happened was…I kind of snatched it and bumped into a shelf, and the Inari shit in a bottle fell on my arm. The Norn, that bitch, she just laughed. I didn't know what kind of shit she was on at the time, but now I know. Anyway, I gave it back to Dyson, where it belonged. But…ever since then, my life has been, well hell. That shit was eating at my flesh. And I tried, I mean I really tried," says Kenzi, shaking her head. "I tried to tell everyone what was going on with me. But yall were all too damn busy to listen. Maybe I kind of waited until shit got too real to say anything, but still. And apparently that whole time, I was like Fae and didn't even know it. At least that's what that crazy bitch Inari said anyway." She looks at Bo. "Um are you still there?" asks Kenzi. Bo is quiet, looking like she is in major deep thought and not necessarily the good kind. "Dude, are you like going to say something? I'm pouring my heart out over here."
Bo shakes her head. "When did this happen?" she asks, finally.
"Which part, I said a lot of shit?" shrugs Kenzi.
"The part with you and The Norn," says Bo, trying not to become upset.
"Oh, that shit happened…like last year. After Ciara's memorial. I knew how he felt Bo, when I was inside of him when we all did the whole body snatchers bid. He was lost. He was losing it after her death too. And no one seemed to notice but me. He was even taking shit out on himself. And I did it for you too. We needed him to help defeat The Garuda, well all of him. So we, me and Dyson, we both went to The Norn to get it back. She was such a bitch like I said, even when we tried to make a trade. I kind of ganked Ciara's bracelet. But she just laughed in our faces."
Bo is shaking her head. "I am just so tired of people lying to me."
"How did I lie?" says Kenzi, frowning.
Bo looks at her as if she were dim-witted. "Um withholding the truth is the same as lying."
"Yeah okay, Beth," says Kenzi, nodding. Bo gives her a crossed look. "Well answer me this, would it have changed anything?"
"What?" says Bo, raising an eyebrow. "It changes everything Kenzi. I can't believe you would even ask a question like that." Bo stands up. "I have way too much shit going on in my life."
"Well maybe that's why I didn't want to tell you."
Bo places her hands on her hips. "You had many opportunities to tell me Kenzi," she says, with a bit of an attitude.
"Um excuse me? Did you not hear the part when I said everyone was busy?" says Kenzi, giving her an irritated look now.
"All the talks we had, and still have. I don't think I was that busy Kenzi." Bo begins to pace. "Now things are going to be all weird." She stops walking. "Ah man." She places her hand on her forehead. "When I think about it, the way he's been looking at me. All the jealousy and sly remarks." Bo shakes her head. "And I am like the biggest asshole, always rubbing his face in Lauren and I, in our relationship. And I had sex with him."
"Oh, now who's withholding information?" says Kenzi, drinking more wine.
Bo gives her a oh-very-funny-not look. "Yeah well it wasn't like that. I mean for me it was just to heal for the last time. But for him, it wasn't supposed to be any strings attached. Obviously now the strings were very much attached."
"I'll say," says Kenzi, pouring more wine into her glass.
Bo begins pacing again. "And I don't have time to start walking on eggshells." She stops again looking dead at Kenzi. "He is just as guilty as you are for not telling me sooner. I would've never went there with him had I known."
"Then I guess I would be having this conversation with a corpse."
Bo leans against the sofa, folding her arms. "This is all just too damn frustrating. I mean I'm with Lauren. Dyson's got his love back. Tamsin's here. The Dawning's approaching. And I'm devolving into an Under-Fae as we speak." She shakes her head. "Maybe things would be a lot better if I just let it happen."
"Let what happen?" says Kenzi, getting out of her chair, walking over to Bo. "Because I hope you're not talking about that shit in Trick's basement," she says. Bo doesn't say anything. "Because if you are, I'll kill you myself before I let that happen," she says, pointing at Bo.
Bo looks like she has a headache. "Just leave me alone Kenzi, you've done enough."
"Okay. Let's not act like you're the only person with shit to deal with. You do remember that I just was chained inside of a cave with a crazy bitch, starving and being tormented for only all that is holy knows how long. But you're the only one with shit to deal with," says Kenzi. She goes back over to her wine, sitting back down in the chair.
"Whatever Kenzi," retorts Bo.
Kenzi opens her mouth in shock. "Did you just whatever me?" she says. Bo gives her a and-your-point look. "Well whatever back to you." Kenzi takes a sip of wine. "And so what Dyson has his love back. And no I didn't get the chance to tell you. But that doesn't give you the right to jump down my neck like I'm freaking Queen Beryl. After all of the shit we've been through together, really?"
"Yeah after all the shit we've been through you couldn't even tell me something that is apparently not a big deal to you."
"Bo, I have been there for you since the beginning. I was helping, helping you, helping all of us. And not to be all Xena-ish, but what I did was for the greater good. Dyson's back to himself. The world is still spinning. So sorry if I'm not understanding what the big fucking deal is?"
Bo, who is already upset, begins to display it on her face. "The big fucking deal is my life. As if everything isn't enough already, I don't need people around playing with it."
Kenzi is taken aback. "Is that how you feel?"
"That's exactly how I feel," says Bo, nodding with an attitude.
The room grows silent. Kenzi wants to keep going since now she's pissed, but sighs instead. "This is stupid."
Bo relaxes. "It is. I'm just overly frustrated these days. Sorry."
"No, you're right. I can see how it would be a big deal to you and all of your chaos. And maybe I could've said something sooner, but at least you know now."
Bo takes a deep breath. "Yeah," she says, softly. Bo walks over to Kenzi. "And I don't want to fight anymore about this. I love you way too much, and I just got you back," she says, earnestly.
"Aww," says Kenzi. She motions for them to hug each other to which they do. "I love you too Bo-Bo."
"Sorry for being less thrilled about all of this. Blame it on the devolving."
Kenzi laughs. "Yeah you're going cray, but I love you anyway."
"Just promise me that in the future, can you not withhold information from me?"
"I promise," says Kenzi, with a smile.
Bo smiles in return. "Now that that's over, do you want to watch a movie or something?"
"Yeah, I guess we could do that. A chick flick seems to be order."
Bo finally drinks from her glass. "And more wine."
