My best friend, creator and father, John Tracy is still in the hospital being well cared for. He has had two major operations in the last twenty-four hours. He is doing very well I understand, in spite of everything. The first operation was to fix his shattered shoulder, using an artificial shoulder joint in order to ensure John has full use of his arm afterwards.
As soon as Brains had learned that the doctor was planning to replace his shattered shoulder joint rather than attempt to fix it, he got to work to design a joint for John that was as strong and as long lasting as his original bone, made of a new substance designed by Brains for that very purpose. He got together to confer with Mrs Tracy, Virgil and Doctor Deacon, and in the end the operation went well.
Just a few hours after coming out of surgery, John's weaker kidney failed completely, making him very sick. He had to be rushed back into surgery urgently to have it removed. He narrowly escaped peritonitis. The hospital records state that under the circumstances, he is doing very well.
They are keeping him under light sedation for the time being, because when John first awakened properly after his coma he kept trying to get out of bed, and of course, he was not nearly strong enough. Doctor Deacon is determined that John is not going to escape her care until she is 100% satisfied in his progress.
Scott and Virgil laughed so much when they found out about John's "escape attempt" as they called it, they were nearly sick. That is, until Mrs Tracy reminded them that they both have the same reputation at several mainland hospitals for the same thing.
Now, neither Scott nor Virgil are laughing. They were with John when his health took a downturn, and were both badly frightened when not long after coming out of surgery, John was whisked back in.
Scott has been heard to threaten dire things for the future health of Langstrom Fischler if he should ever have the chance to meet him face to face. Colonel Casey has released Mister Fischler on bail, with orders to close down his business temporarily and remain confined to his own home until the investigations are complete. With the threat of life imprisonment or worse, plus the fact that he now has GDF personnel watching his home and business addresses, he has agreed to abide by their rules.
He is still vigorously protesting that he has done nothing wrong.
I have just been talking to Colonel Casey.
Parker managed to pass a brief written note to her via one of the GDF guards without any one of his fellow prisoners seeing anything. It was a system set up before he went in there, so that he could have a way to communicate with the outside world if he needed to.
He has managed to find out from his fellow gang members how the Boss of this gang arranged his affairs and collected his evidence without leaving any trace around for anyone else. The Colonel contrived to have Parker hauled in for questioning following 'an incident' in the prison…so he was able to ensure there were no telecom devices anywhere near, and explain to her all he had learnt from his cellmates.
She informed Lady Penelope, and myself.
Now I know why my searches have been fruitless. I was searching in the wrong place. John would tell me that my failure makes me more human. I do not find that comforting. I should have searched audio and recording devices. That is, after all, how Mister Parker learned about this man in the first place.
I have been monitoring all telephone calls, listening out for certain words or phrases, just as I do for International Rescue. But previously made recordings is an area I have overlooked.
I have failed.
Now I know where to look, I have discovered that this man "Bob" has ears everywhere, as John would say. Now I do too. It is imperative that Lady Penelope and Kayo complete their assignment quickly. Parker is being kept in the main part of the prison, in a different cell with a lot of different prisoners, in an attempt protect him as one among the many, should Bob learn the truth about him. Meanwhile, I am searching thoroughly through every recorded file he has on his Hub, (in orbit around the moon…how original!)
He has them so carefully encrypted, it is taking me longer than I anticipated to go through them. I am compiling a list of everyone Bob has 'recruited' and passing the list to lady Penelope as I uncover them. Lady Penelope will have to find each person and render them harmless…in whatever way is necessary. Lady Penelope has reached out to Colonel Casey for assistance in this task, since the list I am compiling is longer than any of us could have anticipated. The Colonel has brought in Wayne Rigby, and they are visiting each person in turn, with the evidence I am uncovering, to "assist the GDF with its enquiries". Keeping them away from the influence of any telecom technology. As soon as every one on Bob's `list' has been rendered useless to him, we will have only Bob himself to worry about. Except for one thing.
Kayo is not answering her comms.
The last contact I had with the tracer 'Bob the old lady' swallowed, he was headed into Brazil with Kayo in pursuit.
I can no longer read Bob's tracer signal, nor Kayo's comm. Thunderbird S has gone dark.
I am worried.
