Chapter 3: Nightmare

Sorry for not releasing this chapter of this fanfiction, because how I was on vacaition, and made me had no time to wrote this chapter. It's also because I was confused about ideas, and also college stuff. But anyway, hope you enjoy!

Also, I wanted to apologize that this chapter is shorter than the previous one. Or this chapter might be the shortest.

Warning: Bad Grammar?

Sadie was found herself in a same Bennett Resident, but the atmosphere was eery, with a sky become cloudy, with no people around the resident. As the resident become a ghost town, due for an absence of people who live there. Sadie discovered her house in front of her, the house has a police line in the front door, shattered and broken window. "Mom? Dad?" She said, curious by what inside the house, she took the police line, and entered the house.

Inside the house, was a messy room, with many furnitures broken, and two chalk outline, that resembled the same pose of the murder of her parents. Sadie was terrified, and realized that she had entered a house that actually a location of the murder of her parents.

Suddenly, she heard a footstep noise, coming from her bedroom, upstairs. Sadie surprised and nervously wondered "Dad, mom, was that you?" She went to the upstair, in hoping the footstep noise was her parents.

As she arrived at upstairs, she was shocked, the source of footsteps noise isn't caused by one of her parents. It was one of henchmen of The Phantom, the man looked at Sadie, with his cruel expression. Sadie was left terrified and realized that it's not her parents! "No… not you again…" she said in terrified.

She quickly ran downstairs in terrified, and going to escaped from the house. When suddenly, the henchman began to chasing her and tried to captured her. Sadie even more terrified and quickly ran to the front door, to get out of the house.

When she went outside, the sky outside turned dark, with no clouds, no stars, and no moon, just a dark void sky. She was shocked seeing the sky outside "What is going on? Why is the sky turned dark?" Asked Sadie in horror, she looked back and saw the henchman approaches her. She ran away again from him but tripped her leg on the pavement and boom! She hit the floor.

"Aaargh!" She yelled in pain, she tried to get up, but it was too late. The Phantom's henchman grab her legs behind, with his expression turned distorted. His distorted face with evil laughter as he grabbed her. Sadie even more terrified, and desperately tried to pulled herself away from him, but he was way too strong. Causing her to gave up and scream for help.

She wake up frantically from her sleep feeling scared, and breathe heavily, seeing a terrifying nightmare that haunting her. The bedroom filled with silence ambience, and the rain outside the safe-house getting harder and windy with some lightning strike.

She looked at the door, and get off the bed, wondering if Ethan was in the common room. She then opened the door and saw Ethan who was sitting on the couch, while looking at tablet that belongs to IMF. "Ethan…" Said Sadie, with in tremble. Ethan looked up as he heard her footsteps, and witnessing her distress.

"Sadie, are you alright? A Bad dream?" He asked in concern, while he put the tablet on a table.

Sadie nods, her eyes still haunted by a terrifying vivid nightmare "I… I saw them again… the same people who… killed my parents.. and the same people… who tried to.. chasing me…" she said. "I'm scared.." she closed both her eyes in tremble.

Ethan stood up from coach and approaches her gently, put a hand on her shoulder, felt a warmth spread through her body "It's okay, Sadie. You're safe here." He said. Sadie, in that vulnerable moment, finds a solace in Ethan's assurance.

"Wh.. Why did my parents have to die…? Why are those people kept chasing after me?" She asked softly as she uncovered her eyes from her arms.

"I wish I had answers, Sadie. I can't bring your parents back, but I promise we will found out. We're here for you." Said Ethan. He then began to hugged her tightly, offering a sense of security. Sadie surprised and hugged him back. In that moment, the line between protector and surrogate father blur.

"You're like… a father to me…" she said in whisper. Ethan's expression softened, by an unexpected bond, as he hold Sadie a little tighter.

"I'll do everything to keep you safe Sadie, and we're in this together." He replied, as he released her from hug, he took her back to her bedroom. "Come on, let's get into sleep." He said.

As they were in Sadie's bedroom. She lied down on the bed, and felt safe and protecfed by Ethan. He wrapped blanked on her, as she was going to sleep. The rain outside the safehouse was continue, before Ethan left her bedroom.

"Sleep well, Sadie. Tomorrow, we'll face it together." He said as he left sleeping Sadie, alone in bedroom. He slowly closes the door, and let Sadie to sleep..

As Ethan steps out of Sadie's room, his mind filled with emotions and thoughts, especially about Sadie. "She's been through so much… no child should have to endure what she was." He thought softly.

Despite his outward calm demeanor, his thoughts were consumed by the weight of responsibility, of how he feels about Sadie's safety. "The Phantom won't stop until she gets what she wants. I have to stay one step ahead of her.." he thoughts urgently.

With walking back to the main room of Safehouse, Ethan's determination grows, as he resolve to keep Sadie safe. "I won't let anything happened to her. Not on my watch."

As he settles into his own vigil outside Sadie's room. Ethan's inner voices faded away, replaces by determination to stand guard and shield Sadie from dangers, that lurk in the shadows.

(The Next Day)

The rain was stopped outside, as the sun began to rise, casts a soft glow through the windows of safehouse. Sadie was awaken from a peaceful slumber, with no nightmares.

She rubed her eyes, and changed her clothes from pajamas ti her typical stripped t-shirt, with shorts. She emerged from her room, and saw members of IMF who were gathered in a common area of a safehouse. With Benji, who was making some breakfast, Luther who was checking some files on his laptop, and Ethan standing by the window, while looking outside.

"Good Morning Sadie, how did you sleep?" Asked Luther as he continued to looked at files on laptop.

"Morning Benji, I sleep well, thank you. And no more nightmares." Replied Sadie, she as felt grateful.

Ethan turned around at her, as he heard her voice and smiled at her. "Glad to hear that, kid. We also will have a discussion about Project Neosystem, so get some breakfast first." He said, as he looked at the kitchen.

Just as Sadie came to the kitchen, feeling a bit nervous about the discussion of Project Neosystem. She looked at Benji, who made a pancake to her. He despite, being a tech guy, he actually skilled on cooking, and often made breakfast to members of IMF. "Morning Sadie, want some pancakes?" He asked.

Sadie smiled, seeing a breakfast that she often liked "Yes, please! I want it!" She said in excited. As Benji gave a plate of pancakes, Sadie took it on a table, and began to took a bite of it. She couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort, in the familiar taste.

"These pancakes tastes good! Thank you Benji!" Said Sadie in grateful, while she continue to eat. Benji smiled as he cleaned the kitchen. The atmosphere of safehouse, were lightened, she felt grateful for warmth and security that the IMF had provided her. Despite the weight of her shoulders, and she knew the IMF will always do their best to helped her, even in dangerous situation.
