Hi Readers: What did you think about that quick appearance from Matt's sister? Oh, and what about the fact that Gabby started a blog? Let me know what you guys think in the comments, and maybe you guys can give me ideas at the same time. But for now, how about we continue with chapter fourteen of this journey that we've sent Dawsey on. Hope you enjoy my story and let me know if you have ideas. Oh, and if you have some for my One-Shot Book, I'd love them too. Thanks again for reading all of my stories, and I can't wait to write some more for you starting now, so here's Chapter 14.

Chapter Fourteen: The First Post

It turned out that the couple left Cleveland at just the right time, now headed towards Akron, Ohio (which is their next stop) during this long road trip that they've decided to take; the road trip where they aren't going to worry about work, but they are going to concentrate on the two of them (and their relationship) instead. And so far, it was nice. They were having a bunch of fun, and they're just taking it easy. This is exactly what the couple want to be doing, as there truly is nothing like them just being with each other. They want to do this, and save their marriage; and so far, that's exactly what they've done. They've saved their marriage, and they've made sure that they're stronger. And so far, they are stronger, and Matt just loves that fact. With Gabby being the woman of his dreams, there's nobody else that he wants to share his life with; and now, they are going to just take it easy as they continue to drive southbound. Well that, and they're going to talk about this new venture that Gabby has seemed to have started for their trip; the blog that she's going to write about their journeys.

The blog that she's currently reading from, as she tells him all about the first entry that she wrote. "Welcome readers, I hope that you guys had a great day yesterday, and I just want to introduce you guys to just what this blog that you have found on the internet is. Okay, I had to make a correction to that one this morning. But, back to what I said. First, I am going to introduce myself to you; and then, I will explain to you guys just what this blog is all about." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said the first part of her blog. "I can see that being a good way to start, not that I really know anything about writing. I hope you know that I do trust you when it comes to what you want to write." Gabby agreed with her husband when he told her that, smiling. "Good, because you aren't going to be stopping me from writing this. This is another thing that I can do while we drive. I mean, unless you want to talk more about those topics we have to talk about?" Matt bit his lip. "Let's just have it happen naturally. Right now, I want to hear that you said on the blog." Gabby agreed with Matt.

Smiling, she went to continue reading what she said on the blog. "Well, let's start with the introductions that I have for you. My name is Gabriela Casey, the wife of former Chicago Alderman for the 23rd Aldermanic Ward on the City Council. After a rough start to our marriage, and an especially hard 2018 for the both of us; we have both decided to take time away from our lives as first responders in the City of Chicago to just take it easy and concentrate on our marriage for a while." Matt then went ahead and made a joke after that. "So much for my political career comeback." Gabby turned her head when she heard Matt say that, a bit taken aback when she heard that. "Wait, you want to go back into politics." Matt laughed when he heard his wife ask him that, him having made a joke about what he was really doing. "Baby, I was joking. A bad marriage is just really bad for politics; so I am not going to go back. Plus, everything you said is the truth." Gabby agreed with Matt. "I hope I'm not sharing too much." Matt shook his head when he heard Gabby ask him whether she was sharing too much.

"Of course not baby, I think that you're sharing just enough. Now, how about you continue with what you wrote on the blog. I really want to hear what you said." Gabby agreed with Matt when he told her that. "I hope you know that I will gladly change anything that you don't like." Matt agreed with Gabby with she told him that, smiling. "We'll see. Right now, how about we go back to what you said?" Gabby agreed with Matt when he asked her to continue reading, so she did just that. "And that's why I decided to write this blog. I want to document just where we've been so far, and what we've experienced. Now, I hope to get some posts out to you on a regular basis; but I do not know when I will get a chance. I am, in fact, writing this post about our first day on the road on what's our second day on the road; so, let's just clarify that." Matt laughed when he heard Gabby read that. "Babe, I highly doubt that they really care about that." Gabby shrugged. "I posted it in the morning, so I didn't want to have to contend with all the conspiracy theorists that come with politics; I did mention your name." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Oh, about time travelling and all that shit. Yeah, I've seen those."

Gabby laughed, shaking her head when she heard Matt say that. "I mean, really guys. Can you truly say that's really something that you actually believe in? It's ridiculous, and just something that will never happen." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, smiling as he looked at her for a moment. "Let's keep going, I want to hear what you wrote." Gabby agreed with Matt when he told her that, proceeding to keep reading what she said on her blog so far. "But enough wasting time explaining that's obvious now. That this blog is about our travels, and when I am writing it. If you're here, you're here to read about the journey that we're taking across America. Well, let's start on where we started. Yesterday morning, we left Chicago with an original destination of New York City. Well, that was the plan until we got to Cleveland. In Cleveland, we decided that we no longer wanted to go to New York City. The reason for that? Well, it's due to the fact that it's going to be cold. So, we're now on our way to Miami after a couple stops. Our first stops? Ann Arbor, Detroit, Toledo, and Cleveland. God, the ways that me and Matt experienced these places were so different; and the pictures were cute."

Matt then realized something. "Oh god, are you going to include some pictures on the blog too?" Gabby laughed, agreeing with her loving husband. "Oh yeah baby. Don't complain because this can be a way to make money." Matt was confused when he heard that. "How?" Gabby smiled. "I can sell ad space on my blog, so they can create revenue." Matt thought about it and agreed with her. "Yeah, that makes sense. God, I have such a smart wife." Gabby smirked, agreeing with Matt when he told her that. "I'm just thinking about ways that we can make money on the road. I was also thinking of trying to see if I can do call center stuff." Matt went to veto that right away. "Oh hell no, I am not letting you do that when you're sitting next to me. That's going to get annoying hearing the same message all the time when you're sitting next to me for hours." Gabby thought about that as well, and agreed with Matt. "Yeah, I can see that being the truth." Matt laughed and smiled at her. "Just figure out a way to make money through your blog babe, and let's keep hearing about it."

Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, proceeding to keep reading the blog that she was writing about their trip. "Especially the pictures that I have from places where my husband told me that he just HAD to visit during our trip. The first place that he told me that he HAD to visit, was the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor. So, that was where we went; so that we could visit Michigan Stadium. My husband is a huge football fan (go Bears!)…" Matt laughed when he heard Gabby include Go Bears! In her blog. "God, I love that part of the post." Gabby agreed with Matt when he told her that, smirking as she was well aware of the fact that he was going to enjoy that part of the blog post. "…and he actually knew a bunch of facts about this stadium that I never knew. He may not call himself a geek, but I will definitely call him a geek when it comes to this." Matt was a bit insulted when he heard that. "Excuse me!" Gabby smirked at Matt right then. "A cute geek." Matt was confused. "How can a geek be cute?" Gabby smiled at Matt when he asked her how a geek is cute.

"Baby, you're cute, and very sexy. Yet, you're also a dork. I mean it. But I love you like crazy, and that's all that matters at the end of the day." Matt agreed with her when she said that, smiling as they are both ready for her to continue with her reading the blog post. "Keep reading woman." Gabby agreed with Matt, proceeding to continue with reading the blog post that she wrote about their trip yesterday. "He knew how old the stadium is, how there's these huge chants that they have, and how stadiums aren't made like this anymore. Driving up to the stadium, I tried to see if we would be able to get in (as I knew that was definitely something that he wanted to do). But unfortunately, you aren't able to visit the stadium; nor are you able to get in. So, we had to settle for something else. We got as close to it as possible, and I took this picture of Matt in front of the stadium." Gabby smiled as she looked at the picture that she posted to the blog, absolutely loving it.

"That picture we took is on the blog." Matt agreed with Gabby when she told him that, smirking. "Which one. The one where we're kissing in front of it?" Gabby agreed with Matt when he asked her that, before continuing with reading the blog post that she made yesterday. "And of course, he wasn't just content with him having a picture in front of the stadium; he wanted me to join him in front of the stadium, so I obliged and gave him what he wanted (well, one of the things he wanted)." Matt was shocked that his wife was so candid in her blog post. "Did you really just infer to the fact that…" Gabby smirked, agreeing with Matt when he asked her if she was making an inference to the fact that he wanted her when they got back in the RV. "Oh baby, I just had to play with you. I promise, I'll be nice." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, smiling. "Just keep reading. I'll see if I want to change it." Gabby agreed with Matt when she said that, reading some more.

"I wanted a nice picture of me and my loving husband sharing a kiss in front of the stadium. So, that was exactly what the two of us did. We shared a kiss in front of the stadium. And let's just say this, he got a bit handsy." Matt was shocked when he heard that Gabby posted that. "GABRIELA!" Gabby laughed, smirking. "Oh shut up, you did get handsy. I want to document everything that we did, it'll make it easier to remember everything we experienced." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Okay, let's just see what else." Gabby sighed. "I'm really honest in the posts just to let you know, I do talk about how our marriage isn't in the best place." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that. "That's fine with me. If this is an outlet that you can use to talk, then go ahead. And then, we can use it to have conversations about it at night." Gabby smiled, agreeing with Matt when he told her that. She then went ahead and continued to read on her blog.

"It was crazy, and it made me jump. I swear, ladies; if you want to get a man excited, just take him to this stadium…and you're going to get a bunch of attention from him the night after you visit. Honestly, we had a bunch of fun; and I was glad that we went here to explore the city. And of course, we didn't just explore the campus. We also ended up taking a look around the city, and it was an amazing sight. The city was beautiful. It was just this typical college town that you'd see anywhere, and I was truly impressed. But that was not the only thing that I was impressed with, I was also impressed with the architecture. With the University being quite old, the architecture was so much different than what you have now a days. And of course, with my loving husband being the owner of Casey Construction, he knows everything…" Matt just smirked when he heard Gabby plug his company into her blog. "You gave the construct company a plug?" Gabby agreed with Matt.

"Of course, I did, I decided to get you business somehow." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, smiling as he continued to drive and listen to Gabby read her blog to him. "…he knows everything that you need to build some things; and that even includes what you need to build old historic structures like this. He said that the fact that this structure that we visit yesterday was still standing was definitely something of a miracle; he said that he always thought that it was going to be something that could easily be targeted in a war (especially during the Second World War). With them having bombed Pearl Harbor, people must've been worried that the enemies would fly over and bomb other marvels of the world. Yes, he called this a marvel of the world; don't argue." Matt snickered when he heard Gabby say that, loving how she said that. It was funny, and really nice when it came to the fact that she was putting humor in her writing; which was really good.

"That's something that I learned. When it comes to men and their football, one thing that you don't argue about; is whether something is a marvel. And the truth was, I can easily see why my husband would call this structure a marvel. It really is a gorgeous place of architecture, and I am so glad that we got a chance to visit it (even if I am not the biggest fan of football." Matt laughed a bit when he heard that. "Oh, now I am not sure that's the truth." Gabby agreed with him. "I do like cuddling up to you on the couch when football is on. Speaking of which…" Gabby then went to read the part of the blog toast that mentioned that exact fact. "The truth of the matter is that I only really watch it because it gives me time to cuddle up to my loving husband as we hold each other close on the couch. My husband is just that comfortable, and I am so glad that we visited this place. And I mean that whole heartedly. Visiting this place reminded me of a kid in a candy store, he was full of glee; and he was excited for me to see more of the country. And the truth is, I love the fact that we're doing this; as it's giving us a chance to make our marriage stronger and just fix it." Gabby took a breath when she got to that part.

"Do you want to hear this part?" Matt nodded when Gabby asked him whether he wants to hear this part of the post, and he did as it's the most important part. "Babe, this is what I want to hear from you. Hearing this part is crucial, and I want to hear it. So please, read it to me…and then we can talk about it afterwards." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, proceeding to read the next part of the blog. "Unfortunately, our marriage has seen better days than where it was in May; but I can easily say that we're in a much better place, and I am so proud of the fact that we're in a much better place. This is due to the fact that there truly is no man like Matthew Casey." Matt smiled when he heard that, reaching for Gabby's hand to give it a squeeze as they were both really happy about what she was writing on her blog. He can see it in her face, and in the reaction that she was giving to him that squeeze of her hand that he just gave her; it was adorable, and it truly makes him smile whenever she looks at him that way. God, she is so adorable; and Matt loves her more than anything.

"He has the sweetest heart, and I just feel like the luckiest woman in the entire world. I truly feel blessed over the fact that I'm his wife, and that will never change no matter what fights we get into with each other; and if you end up reading this Matt, I promise that I am not going to reveal any details about said fights." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Good, because that was something that I'm worried about." Gabby nodded, before continuing to read. "And if some of our friends read this, then you are going to have to text me for more details. But back to the trip. When they say that a road trip is the best way for you to see America, they're telling you the truth; just seeing America from the window of our RV is incredible, and I am so glad that we did it. The way you can see the cities drive by in the window is really nice. And I'm glad that I didn't end up driving." Matt laughed when he heard Gabby say that, just shaking his head as she really is making his laugh the entire time that she's reading her blog post to him. And that's exactly what he wants to do with her. He would much rather laugh with her rather than be in a fight with her, which is exactly what's happening right now.

"There were times where I thought that Matt should take a bit of rest when it came to driving…but like the man he is, he insisted on driving; and call this old fashioned, I found it quite a turn on that my husband wanted to drive me all over the country. There's just something about the way he told me that he wanted to drive me all over the country that made me really happy. It made me smile, and it made me want to just take it easy as he drove; and that was what I ended up doing. I ended up falling asleep during the trip, and he had to wake me up in Detroit. Yes, I slept all the way from Ann Arbor to Detroit. And the original plan was to visit Detroit, but we ended up not visiting. However, I made sure that we at least went through the city. And when they say that the interstate did ruin the city, I can see why that's the case. And I hate to say this to the politicians, but I am going to call you out. I can easily see the destruction that the interstates have done." Taking a breath, Gabby wasn't sure what Matt was going to think about that part of the blog. "Did I go too far with that?" Matt shook his head when she asked him that, not thinking that way at all. "Baby, you have every right to express your opinion."

Gabby nodded when Matt said that, before going ahead with (once again) continuing with reading from her blog. "And I don't like it. I will definitely include some pictures that I see in the future, but I just didn't end up taking pictures this time (unfortunately). But right now, I just took it easy and got some needed sleep. God, the amount of packing that I ended up doing the night before. I didn't exactly want to have to rush the next morning, so I wanted to make sure that we put as much as we could in the RV before we went to bed the night before; and that meant that we ended up going to bed past midnight (hence the nap I ended up taking). As much as I hated the idea that I missed a bunch of the country, I do have to say that I'm glad that I did get a chance to take the long-needed nap that I just had to take. It was perfect, and it ended up being the exact reason that we didn't stop in Detroit. We continued to Cleveland. I know, I said I saw Detroit…but I just woke up briefly (like 10 minutes) before falling back asleep. (I was tired, don't blame me for it)." Matt laughed a bit as Gabby said that.

"Baby, I highly doubt that people are going to blame you for taking a nap when you're tired; if you're tired, then you have every right to take a nap while I'm driving you." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, reaching for his hand once again. She then stroked his hand, smiling at the man of her dreams. "I love you." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, smiling as he let her hand go before putting it back on the steering wheel. Afterwards, he continued to listen to Gabby as she went ahead and read more of the blog post that she wrote. "I mean yes, would I have liked to see more of Detroit? Of course, I would have liked to see more of the city. But I promise dear readers, that I will definitely see more of the country. And there are definitely places that I'm already excited to visit as husband and wife. And that's actually something I'm glad to talk to you about, some of the reasons why me and my husband to take this trip. A few months ago, I left Chicago to go volunteer in Puerto Rico as we were having problems in our marriage." Gabby took a breath and just looked at Matt.

Nodding, Matt gave her the reassurance that she needed to let her know that he was okay with what she was sharing. "But, I am happy to say that some of the problems in our marriage have definitely been solved (and we celebrated that the night before). It was perfect, and I am so glad. And I can really say that this trip was something that we needed, and it was something that I will always appreciate; because of what it has done for our marriage, how I believe that it's saved it. And I will always be grateful to this trip for doing so, and for all the changes that it has made for the both of our lives. Even though we've only been gone for 24 hours, I can already say that me and Matt have learned more about each other; and that's a point that I definitely want to make in this blog. I want to write down some of the lessons that me and my husband have learned through this journey, and the conversations that we're going to have. However, I can't promise that we're going to share all of the details due to the fact that those details are going to have to stay in between myself and my husband. But for now, I will let you guys go…and I promise that I am going to keep you guys updated." Gabby took a breath before finishing.

"But for now, I hope you all have a great day; and I hope that you guys keep reading about our journeys. For now, this is Gabriela Casey signing off on her report on Day 1 of The Caseys Take Time Away: Our Journey Across America (and it's Territories). Written with love, Gabriela Marie Casey." Taking a breath, Gabby looked at Matt to see what he thought about what she posted. "So, what do you think about what I posted on the blog so far? Did I post too much for you?"
