Hi Readers: Sorry the last chapter was so short, and I'm sorry that it took such a turn. (Oh, and that the story's name changed once again). I just…I had the idea and I wanted to write it. Now, I am going to be implementing a bit of a time jump, a time jump of 1 month to be more specific. So, here are the things that we now know. (1) It's been confirmed that they are having twins, (2) Matt and Gabby are happy about the fact that they are having twins; but they have yet to find out the gender (but they feel like it's girls). Now, onto Chapter 40; our first chapter since they moved home. Surprise!

Chapter Forty

Casey Home, Chicago – November 21st, 2018
She was now 11 weeks pregnant, and you could tell; you could clearly tell that the beautiful woman standing in front of the mirror was (obviously) pregnant. Pregnant with her and her husband's first children. The children that the two of them have wanted for the longest time now. But now, they were both just taking it in stride. However, that doesn't mean that the entire pregnancy has been easy. With Gabby now nearing the end of her first trimester, the couple are hoping that it'll do wonders for how Gabby feels each and every morning. But, just what are they talking about? Well, they're talking about the morning sickness that she suffers from each and every morning. And it's truly painful for Matt. Sure, Gabby is the one that's going through it; but for Matt to just sit there and not be able to do anything to help, it kills him. He just wishes that there was something that he could do and make it feel better. But unfortunately, there wasn't anything that Matt could say or do that would make Gabby feel better when she's in the midst of having morning sickness; and he hates it. And the truth was, Gabby knew that he hated it. She could tell that her husband was hurting every time that he had to watch her be sick.

And that was actually why Matt was a bit hesitant to the idea of them going out, going out to Molly's and surprising them all that they're here (and that they're moving back). Yes, you just heard that right. The couple agreed that they wanted to move back for the rest of the pregnancy, well more like Matt said that he wanted to. And there was a reason for it. Over the past month, Gabby's passed out from heat exhaustion three times; and that was not something that Matt was okay with. So, Matt told Gabby that they were going to give their home back to the charity…and they were going to move home for her health. And at the end of the day, Gabby agreed that it was the best move for the both of them. So now, against her best judgment, they were now back in Chicago…and Matt was once again going to be working at the fire department. However, there was something that she made sure that he needed to promise her. They would still help with fundraising whenever there was one nearby, and they will be in the future; so that makes her really excited that she gets the best of everything. She gets to raise kids with her husband in Chicago, and she gets to give back to Puerto Rico by fundraising.

So, this is going to be perfect. And the truth is, she thinks that their time away was really all they needed. They just needed to take that time away and work on their marriage, before she would be okay living here again. Heck, the truth was that she was actually really happy to be home with her husband. She was glad that this is where they are at the moment. And even better, that they're going to be having kids here. Thank God they didn't order much furniture in Puerto Rico. And if there was any ordered, they were able to cancel it before they shipped it. But now, they just have to fill this home with a bunch of furniture for their children…and that's going to be a lot of fun. Let's just say this though, she's already getting that rocking chair that she had her eyes on. Oh, and another thing? Matt made sure to ship his truck over from Puerto Rico. Oh boy, when Gabby said that they were going to leave his truck there; he was not really happy. He said it wasn't happening, or that it would be happening over her dead body. Which is something that was now a possibility as he's going back to the CFD.

Taking a breath, Gabby tried to concentrate on the fact that Matt promised her that he'd be safe; as that was what was going to get her through the next couple of months. The months leading up to the birth of their children. Plus, it's not like she doesn't know that the man she loves will be extremely safe; she knows Matt, and she knows that he'll make sure that he's safe for the sake of their children. He wants to be a dad more than anything in the entire world. So, for him to put that at risk of happening…well, that would just be completely out of character for Matt. It's going to be something that Matt will never do. Rather, he's going to make sure that he's there at all costs. And that was exactly what Matt was prepared to tell her every single day for the rest of their lives, amongst other things. Some of those things also included that they could change their plans. He hasn't made it conclusive with Chief Boden, and he's got wiggle room if Gabby changes her mind. However, them not moving back is something they aren't going to stop; after all, they did bring all of their bags along. And that includes the dress that she was wearing for her husband tonight, the tight dress she was wearing for him.

And let's just say, Matt loves the tight dress that Gabby's wearing for him. Walking up to their washroom, Matt smirked as he leaned against the doorframe. "You look beautiful." Turning her head to look at Matt, Gabby smiled when she heard him say that. "Yeah, tell this thing that's stopping me from looking incredible sexy for you." Matt shook his head when he heard Gabby say that, proceeding to walk over to her. "Don't say that babe, you look beautiful; and please, don't insult our children. They have feelings you know." Gabby laughed a bit when she heard Matt say that, watching as he walked up behind her. Putting his hands on his beautiful wife's sides, Matt smiled as he looked at Gabby in the mirror. "Did I ever tell you that you look beautiful?" Gabby looked up at Matt when he said that, shaking her head. "You already getting anything Casey, I'm already having a hard time getting in this dress. And I really need to relax ahead of us going to shift. And don't say a word about me not going to shift with you. I'm going to shift you if it's the last thing I do." Matt just put his hands up when she said that. "Hey, I'm not arguing with you." Gabby agreed with Matt then he said that, looking at him.

Matt then went and (finally) went to do up the zipper so that she could take it easy. After all, she just needs to relax and breathe for the sake of their children. Heck, he needs her to breathe right now. It's what they both need her to do at the moment, as he doesn't want anything to happen to either her or the kids. The kids that they want more than anything in the entire world. And let's just say that they're both really happy over the fact that they're going to have these beautiful children, the children Matt just put his hands on as he stepped closer to Gabby while putting his hands on her stomach. Moving her hands to his, Gabby smiled as they both held each other close. Meanwhile, Matt bent down and kissed her shoulder softly as a way to make sure that she just took it easy and relax with him at the moment. "Just remember that you need to take it easy tonight baby. You're pregnant with our children, and that means that they need mommy to relax." Gabby laughed when she heard Matt say that, but she knew that was the truth even thought it was funny.

I mean, of course she knows that he has to relax; but she also knows that Matt just cares for her, and that's why he's talking to her in such a manner. So, for him to talk to her this way is very adorable. And Gabby is very happy that Matt just decided to speak to her in such a manner. "I swear, I can't wait for you to be a dad. You are just so adorable whenever you talk to me in that voice." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, smiling at her in the mirror as he wrapped his arms around her. Afterwards, he put his hands on her stomach as a way to make sure that they're both happy with each other at the moment. And let's just say that they're both very happy with each other. This truly is a dream come true, and Matt and Gabby are both extremely happy to be pregnant with their first children. "What are you thinking gender wise?" Matt laughed as he decided to turn Gabby around in his arms. Stepping close to the woman he loves, he then pushed a strand of hair behind her ear. "I don't care what the gender of our children are. As long as you're healthy at the end of this journey."

Gabby looked at Matt when he said that. "You mean, that they're healthy at the end of this journey." Matt bit his lip. "Uhm, same thing." Gabby then put her hand on her husband's face, leaning up to kiss him softly. "You had that dream again, didn't you baby?" Matt sighed when Gabby asked him if he had the dream he's been having lately, the dream where she dies after they have the babies. Sure, she doesn't have the aneurysm anymore…and he knows that she should be safe. But there's just something that makes him scared sometimes. "It makes me wonder at times whether I should really be going back to working at the fire department. Maybe I just go back to OFI for a while." Gabby got close to Matt and just put her hands on his arms as she held him close. "Is that what you want to do?" Matt took a breath as he put his hand on the side of her face, leaning in to kiss her softly. "I just want to make sure that you're okay for now. I think I might do it for a bit. I mean, unless you want me to go back…" Gabby took a breath. "I think you should, I want to go be with our friends."

Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, proceeding to grab her hand before intertwining their fingers. "Just remember that Sylvie doesn't work for the CFD anymore. And, another thing, I have shift tomorrow. So, can you maybe take a shower tonight so that we can get out of here quickly? I don't want to be late on our first day back?" Gabby laughed. "Baby, I already took a shower before I put my dress on. I promise, everything will be okay. I'll be fine, you'll be fine…and it'll all be okay. I promise baby. Now, I want to get out of here and go to the bar. I want to be with our friends." Matt agreed with Gabby (again), smirking as he stepped close to her. Wrapping his arms around her waist, Matt smirked as he leaned in and kissed her softly, ready to take her to the bar so that they can hang out with their friends this evening.

His hand was sitting in Gabby's lap as he drove them down the familiar Chicago streets that they know, ready to make their way to the bar so that they can go have fun with their friends. The friends they know are going to be really happy to see them the moment that they want in together. He just hopes that they can remember that Gabby's pregnant and that she needs to take it easy. That means that they can't exactly jump all over them, and they need to take it easy. "I think the entire house is going to be really happy to see you this time around." Turning her head, Gabby smiled as she felt Matt stroke her hand. "Yeah, I think they are too. Just me being able to see everybody is going to be nice." Matt smiled. "Now, I want you to remember to take it easy tonight. You're going to just sit down and relax for the sake of our daughters." Gabby laughed a bit when she heard Matt say that. "And what makes you so sure that we're having daughters Mr. Casey?" Matt smiled at her. "Because I know that we're going to have daughters. I have a feeling, and I know we'll be right."

Gabby smiled, agreeing with Matt as they drove down the familiar streets to Molly's. "Can you believe that I'm already 11 weeks along?" Matt shook his head. "No, I still can't believe it. And I can't wait to have kids here in Chicago. But just know that, even thought I'm at work, that doesn't mean that you're not going to be my top priority. You're going to be my top priority for the rest of my life. Things are going to be much different this time around." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that. "Oh, I'm sure that's going to be the case; especially since I have this feeling that we're going to have daughters. And since we're going to have daughters, that means that you're going to be obsessed with trying to make sure that we're okay all the time." Matt laughed when Gabby said that. "What do you expect? You're going to be my girls. Speaking of which, we're talking what…6 month exactly until we're giving birth to our children?" Gabby smiled. "Oh, that reminds me. Appointment on Monday at 9:30. I thought we could go on the way home from shift?" Matt agreed with Gabby.

"You're sure that you're okay with coming to shift?" Gabby nodded. "Yeah, I am." Matt smiled. "By the way, thanks for agreeing to cancel the charity stuff." Gabby laughed. "Oh trust me, the minute I heard they had to move it to Milwaukee…I was not going to worry about that. Baby, I'm 11 weeks pregnant with twins. I'm not going anywhere." Matt laughed when he heard Gabby say that. "How are our twins doing tonight? I mean, they are looking pretty sexy tonight…maybe they'd like a visit from daddy tonight?" Gabby blushed, smirking when she heard Matt say that. "Oh, calm down Matthew and please don't think that way. We need to relax and just take it easy. Remember that we are driving in Chicago in winter." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Oh trust me, I have plans to drive very carefully; and that's especially the case when you're carrying precious cargo." Gabby blushed when Matt said that. "I love the sound of that." Matt agreed.

"I have to say this though, it feels nice to be back in Chicago. Sure, I loved being with you in Puerto Rico for a while but…I hope you feel the same way about this…" Gabby then proceeded to grab Matt's hand, smiling at him. "This is our home." Matt let out a huge sigh of relief when he heard Gabby say that. "Thank god, I'm not the only one thinking that way." Gabby shook her head when she heard her husband ask her whether he was the only one thinking that way. "Of course, you're not the only one that feels that way. And the truth is, I think I would miss the opportunity to raise the kids with our friends' help. They are going to be great." Matt agreed with his wife when she said that, smiling at her. "And are you sad that your brother has yet to decide to come join us?" Gabby shook her head. "Because I know that it won't be long before he comes to join us. By the way, don't forget that we can't stay out late tonight. We need to get home at a reasonable time."

Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that. "Oh trust me baby, we're not going to be out late. I'm already tired after all the travelling that we've done." Gabby smirked when Matt said that. "Oh, just because of the travelling?" Matt smiled at Gabby when she said that. "By the way, I already took the shift of December 7th off. We're going to celebrate our 2nd anniversary." Gabby agreed with her loving husband when he said that, smiling as that was exactly what she wanted to hear at the moment; and she means that, as nothing sounds better than the idea of them spending their anniversary (and the day after their anniversary) alone. "Don't worry, I'm already going to book a shopping trip with Stella ahead of that." Matt smiled. "You glad that I let you tell Boden that we're moving back ahead of time?" Gabby laughed. "Oh, you had no choice on that. We needed him to help get our things in after all." Matt agreed with his girl, smiling at the woman he loves.

"Yeah, about that. I almost ran into Herrmann." Gabby looked at her husband when he said that. "You did what now?" Matt nodded as Gabby asked him if he really (almost) ran into Herrmann, thereby (almost) ruining their surprise. "Yeah, so I had to slip into the nearest washroom. Thank god he was there with his kids, so he was distracted." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that. "Good, because he would've definitely spoiled the surprise that we have for everybody." Matt nodded. "Oh trust me, I felt the same way. The minute I heard his voice, I ran into the bathroom just to make sure that he didn't see me." Gabby laughed, shaking her head. "Well, I wish I knew that earlier…maybe I would've let you see the lingerie I'm wearing." Matt then went to put his hand on her leg, smirking as he's ready to see the lingerie that she's wearing under her dress. "You can always give me a preview if you want to give me one." Gabby smiled, shaking her head. "Maybe later."

Matt smirked when he heard Gabby say that, going to grab her hand so that he can intertwine their fingers. "Well, I definitely love the sound of that idea." Smiling as she felt Matt intertwine their fingers, Gabby stroked it with her thumb and just held him close. "I'm glad that we're back in Chicago. It feels like this is really where we've belonged for a while." Matt agreed with his beautiful wife when she said that. "Yeah, I feel the same way. That's exactly what I wanted to think too." Gabby nodded when she heard Matt say that, smiling as there's nothing like the idea of them living here with their family. "Being with our friends is going to be really nice when it comes to the kids, as I just have this feeling that we're going to need their help to raise the kids." Matt nodded. "And I hate to say this baby, there was another reason." Gabby turned her head when Matt said that. "What is it?" Matt sighed. "The budget. Twins in Puerto Rico would've been expensive."

Gabby thought about it, and just sighed. "God, the A/C bill was a lot. Add in the extra food and stuff, and I'm not sure if it would've been practical for us to stay there Gabby. Sorry if that's the truth." Gabby shook her head when she heard Matt say that. "Hey, if you think that's the truth…then I want to hear your truth baby. I want to hear what you think, and I know that you really think about that." Matt smiled. "I just hope that I can get back on the chiefdom track. I want to do that since we're thinking about having a bunch of kids." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, smiling at him. "Are we still going for more kids other than these two if we aren't having sons?" Matt looked at Gabby when she asked him that. "Hey, of course we are baby. We're going to go for more kids in the future, and we're going to have sons in the future." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, smiling at him. "Concentrate on the road right now okay baby?" Matt agreed.

"I promise, I'm concentrating on the road; after all, I don't want anything to happen to you and the kids." Gabby agreed with him, smirking when he said that as they made their way to the bar this evening.
