Chapter 3: I Wanna Be a Superhero
September 5th Gotham academy.
It's been seven days since the incident with Becky and her posey. As deliah thought they would remember what happened that night in the alleyway. But to her utter shock nothing even came up about it which made her curious even at one point of asking her in the last few days
How she phrased it made Becky stare at her weird for a bit before just bluntly shoving her away saying she was a freak or something. This shocked her immensely right now as she even asked around the school if their was some rumor she heard about a girl about to get raped or something by some of the boys
Heck she even asked that dent girl dumb ox of a boyfriend which he didn't even recall. But he did recall her breaking his wrist and told her to back off or she's dead meat which she understood and did.
But she was doing her best to figure out what these powers of hers were right now. As she wanted to tell her parents but they might send her off to a lab. But she was also trying hard to not show it to her friend eithers at school right now
One time when she was playing with mochi with Barbara and meadow. Her little powers hiccuped a little with her almost floating it seems with her little powers but she fell onto a bed. The two asked what she was doing but she came up with a quick lie saying she just jumped on it
The next was when she was with Sean going on a normal parkour run the two normally would do together. But one time she jumped so far she landed so far ahead of him he asked if she gained more endurance which she agreed with.
But the worst was with Richie that one time in class when she almost launched his desk into a ceiling with him on it. She had the hiccups one day and accidentally hiccuped sending his desk forward with him getting off in time. But it put the school on lockdown for a possible criminal being in the school which scared her alot
But then there was her roommate and she acted very strange at times. More likely she was strange every time she saw her she would be sleeping most of the time. Then there are times with her practicing with that bow or messing with her arrows. But she also saw her leaving the school a few times late at night which confused her guessing it was her wanting to see her mom
But with these powers lately she figured out what they sort of were right now. They seemed to be a part of her emotions or something. She's not a genius because she would need to do research on this or find a sane scientist that won't experiment on her. But what she came up with so far is this.
That these so-called powers of her work are like energy. It seems as if she seemed to be able to jump for long distances by focusing it into her legs. While if she wants something to back off she releases a shockwave from her body. But another was her being able to fire off a small energy blast from her hands.
But today she was in her room pacing around like crazy as it was the weekend now. With her planning on telling her friends about this right now slowly hyping herself up.
"You got this nikos. It's just telling your friend that you're a freak of nature right now. I mean what's the worst that can happen"she said aloud before realizing what might happen
"Not like they'll treat me like some monster and then hall me off to star labs to be a human guinea pig. Oh dear god they'll just think i'm crazy"she said before realizing she talking to herself
"I am now talking to myself great"She added
But she smacked her cheeks, hyping herself up right now to do this. She planned to take them out for a quick bite and visit to an arcade today then she would tell them at a hangout spot her and the others would visit which they haven;t shown artemis yet
Stepping out in the hallway waiting for them was her friends with artemis trying to leave it seems
"Come on crock you keep skipping out on our hangouts…come on don't make mochi upset"meadow said as mochi meowed a little as she was curled up around her owner neck
"Look i'd love to come but i got business elsewhere"artmeis argued as delilah looked upset
"Really? Because umm uhh i got everyone some meals at that cafe...please just for a bit"she begged as artemis eyed her friend for a moment relenting right now
"Fine….just for a few hours got it"she relented
"Alright then let's get a move on kiddies"sean said as they walked off to their first desiantion right now
Streets of gotham
As they walked through the streets of Gotham right now they were making their way to a local cafe they would visit here at times. While they did delilah was a little tense and worried right now if her powers will become out of control right now as she nervously swallowed
Which richie picked up on
"Hey you good over here D i mean you look nervous"he asked getting some attention now
"Now that you mentioned if ever since you've talked with becky and he cronies you've been weird"meadow said
"Heh heh me…weird? I mean how can i be weird"she quickly replied making artemis eye her for a brief moment
"I don't know heard lately you've been asking people alot of questions how someone was almost raped here"Sean questioned very confused on that
"Well i mean i heard a rumor just ummm well….can we hurry up"She said running ahead of them right now as they all shared looks with meadow petting mochi little head with her finger
"Guys is it me or has delilah been acting very weird lately"she asked
"No duh I mean she's weird at times but not this weird. I mean...eh probably her having a crush on someone"richie jokes
"Really a crush? And how would that be a thing"artemis questioned if this was normal behavior for her
"It's happened before with her but let's get to this cafe and get something to eat"sean said with a cherry tone
As they caught up with their friend they walked into something that was a cafe. But it was more like a superhero themed cafe which was very popular and common around the area. As there were symbols all over the place ranging from wonder woman, batman, superman himself, green lantern and the flash with several other different icons around the world they live in
As they sat at a table richie snickered for a moment on where they where
"You picked this place…is it because you don't wanna go to the other one where we ran into dent and her her friends"he asked as she growled
"Of course it isn;t. Besides mr i drool over superman"She teased back making him blush a little on that right now as he covered his bright red face
"Right the poster boy. No way you would score someone like that…but hmmm i wouldn;t mind a salter fish"meadow joked meaning the aquatic themed hero as sean gagged
"God now where doing this again….that black canary girl ain't so bad on the eyes"he replied as artemis laughed a little at that right now which they all noticed
"What so funny crock?"meadow asked making her stop laughing as she cleared her throat
"I mean it's a little funny you guys just casually say that. What don't tell me any of you fancy the other little sidekicks of those guys. "Artmeis asked
"Hey some of them are cool like robin i mean guys young. But heck seems like a fun guy to be around in my opinion. Techy and smart as a wipe from how i saw him fight on the news"richie mentioned
"Meh kid flash is way cooler he's got some pretty good jokes"meadow argued as artemis scoffed
"Believe me, someone who does that many jokes is bound to be stupid and annoying. From experience believe me"she said seeming to have some experience as sean eyed his friend for a moment
"What about our esteemed security heir you fancy any of the superheroes. I know you play for a certain team like richie here"he said as she blushed a little
Which meant she was into her own gender. She only found out after experimenting during some dumb camp she visited in the summer last year. Then she broke things off with that girl which sucked but mainly because she was also using her to get back at someone else.
"Your into girls"artemis asked surprised it seems
"I am….besides its not that bad…but umm well hmmm….i don't know….this is weird can we order our food"she asked picking up a menu as they agreed
Soon enough a waiter came over with a notebook in hand
"What will you all have?"he asked as they scanned their menus for a moment right now
"I'll have a double chocolate shake oh and some chili fries on the side"richie said excited
"I'll just have a mint chocolate sundae with a turkey sub please"Sean added as artemis scanned her nodding
"I'd like a coffee with some pastries"she added for her food
"Oh can i get some fish and a mocha latte please"she kindly asked as the waiter got to delilah next
"You kid?"he asked as she scanned the menu for a bit right now nervous deciding to get some tea to calm her nerves right now
"Tea please"she said as he nodded
After about twenty minutes they had some casual conversation for the evening to pass the time. Asking how classes went with meadow groaning as she almost failed a class but passed with a B plus to her complete shock. As she was lucky, Richie just knew the answers on the test since he could read their teachers like a book at times.
But as they talked Delilah was trying to think of how to tell them she got super powers right now. Which was harder than she thought she can't just flat out tell them she has to show them somehow and it might be impossible with their food soon arriving as the others dug in and talked
"So ummm artemis sorry to ask this but ummm….'richie paused as she sighed
"What is it?"she replied as he hesitated for a moment
"I've seen your mom in a wheelchair, how'd that happen?"Richie asked, making her stunned for a moment. With the atmosphere closing up she closed her eyes clenching her fist tight right now
"I…i…she got paralyzed and it's the main reason my parents split up"Artemis replied with a hurt look as meadow softened her gaze. With mochi munching away on the fish she got the small kitten.
But the girl removed the white kitten who meowed annoyed but was placed on her friend's lap. As artemis looked down then up to her friend who soften her gaze
"Pet her she can keep you calm"she advised
As artemis stared down at the kitten she stroked its fur gently. Which rewarded her a tiny pur from the kittens which made her feel relaxed. She wasn't much of a cat person but she sighed in relief
"Thanks"she thanked
"So…do you not like talking about your dad i take it"sean asked as she growled
"No i don't….he's a piece of shit who treated me and my mother terribly. All I know is he's off somewhere on his job. Can we switch the topic please"she asked as they understood with meadow staring at delilah who was in her own world still right now
"Hey delilah you okay over here"she asked
This startled her friend who yelped from the sudden surprise. As accidentally while walking right past them was one of the waiters. But suddenly a blue haze slightly appeared on her body which launched the water into the ceiling
A crashing noise was heard as they looked over with the waiter falling onto the ground in pain groaning right now. Which surprised them as nearby people rushed over to their aid
"Whoa! What the heck happened"sean said as richie eyes light up
"Hey that almost happened to me….the creepy criminal or ghost is around"he said with starry eyes as artemis pinched the bridge of her nose
"There are no ghosts in that academy. Stop being so childish"artemis said as delilah flinched seeing that as she quickly excused herself
"I need air now"she said quickly running out of the cafe, which they noticed was strange. Quickly paying the bill they followed after her wondering what that was about right now
As outside delilah ran into a nearby alleyway clutching her head with worry right now. As she was scared now. Since she's been unable to control these new powers of her she's been scared of hurting her friend or family as she slinked down against a wall in fear right now
"Dang ...dang it! Ughhh come on i gotta figure out how to control this stuff…how can i do it"she asked herself quietly
"D! What the heck is up with you"sean said startling her seeing them as she quickly stood up
"Yeah you've been acting very weird lately and more than usual. You okay"meadow asked concerned stepping forward but delilah took a very large step back
"Ummmm i'm fine….go on without me i need to umm catch my breath"She said twirling her hair as richie known her the longest as she only does that when she nervous or lying about something
"Your lying…is….did that bitch dent do something to you. Is that why you've been asking people about rumors….does…does she have something on you"he asked concerned cornering the others
As in a way she almost did but apparently she forgot about it which made her worried about what that did to her psyche. Though as she tried to come up with anything right now someone whistled at them with a laugh
"Lookie here we got a few rich kids….our lucky day"A male voice spoke up
This made them look over to see about eight men in casual attire with them all looking like any common crook you see in gotham. As they all had a muscular or slight muscular build to them. They slowly approached them as sean got in a boxing stance shifting his feet back
"Back off buddy i suggest you let us go right now"he warned but one of the thugs laughed at him
"That aint gonna happen besides your gonna come with us"a thug said
"And why would we do that?"Artemis questioned, getting ready to fight. Before two thugs reached behind their waist bands pulling out a pair of pistol which stunned the teens. Meadow quietly yelped holding mochi close in her arms as sean put his hands up backing up now
"Whoa….no need to be trigger happy buddy you want money ummm all i got is a five dollar bill and twenty five cents"richie said before pulling his wallet out tossing it to the thugs as a peace offering
"But my debit cards in their….take it"he said as there was silence with the thug scoffing as he kicked the wallet back to him
"Pick it up brat"the thug ordered as he did pocketing it with one stepping forward eyeing them for a bit before eyeing meadow who flinched in fear as he licked his lips a little
"This ones got a nice little gift in her chest….hey boss mind if we have a little fun with her"he asked the thug leader who was a more muscular man of the bunch as he laughed before pulling out a revolver waving it around right now
"Sure. we don't gotta worry about the bat being in daylight….best crimes are in the daylight for things like this"he said like he had no moral at all
As two of the thugs tried to grab meadow Sean walked into their path. As he threw his fist forward punching one in the jaw making them stumble back from the hit. Though as he did the second gut checked him hard making sean gasp in pain
The poor Irish boy fell to his knees as three thuds dragged him to the side to beat the living hell out of him. As one kicked him with another punching him in the side a grunt of pain could be heard from the poor boy. This made artemis flinch hesitating to fight for a moment
As she does have training in some fighting but this sort of fighting may rat her out on her secret identity right now. As she wanted to keep it secret so no one figures out who she was and becomes in danger on her real identity
But one of the thugs lunged at meadow gripping her arm as she cried out in fear right. With them tearing off her top slightly ripping it revealing her wearing a tan bra right now as she cried out in fear
Though in delilah mind right now she stared at the thugs trying to harm her friend right now. As all she could do now is sit by and do nothing right now or she could do something. With her narrowing her gaze she stood up which the leader noticed smirking
"Well aren;t you a tall glass of women….mind playing nice and we won't hurt you much"he said
As it made her growl as she looked down deep inside her for her powers right now. Before the same blue haze surrounded her skin right now which artemis noticed with a surprised look as delilah growled
"Get away from my friends!"she shouted before she launched an arch of blue hazy energy toward the thugs. As it knocked the ones back onto the ground in shock at what just happened. The one gripping meadow looked over as delilah leaped forward driving her fist straight into their face
But as she did a very loud crunch was heard as the thug cried in pain. Lifting their hands up they had a broken nose with blood oozing out of it as they held it in utter pain
"My fuckign nose! That psycho broke it!"he cried in pain
But the leader stepped back a little in fear as Delilah growled at the three attacking sena. Immediately she lunged forward easily lifting two of them up smashing their bodies together as they slumped to the ground right now in utter pain. With the third looking up as she soaked them in the gut
This made them cough in pain as they fell to the ground in utter disbelief on what just happened. With her reeling her foot back kicking them into a wall. Then she stared at the other thugs before pretending to jump them making them all start to run away from her
"Let's get away from her! She's some freak"a thug cried as they helped their buddie up with her growling at them
"That's right! Run away you jerks! Come back here and you'll get a worse beating next time!'she shouted seething in rage as she was slowly settling down someone spoke to her
"Deliah…what…what's with your skin"richie asked as she stared back at her friends as she stared at the haze around her body before closing her eyes sighing
"Lets um…head back to the academy"She said as they agreed as she prayed they wouldn't find her to be a monster now
Back at the academy they were in her dorm sitting there in silence as meadow got a replacement top. But they were all staring at delilah who stared at the ground with a embarrassed look with sean placing a bag of ice on his bruised eye right now
"So are we gonna talk about what happened back there?"sean questioned breaking their long silence
"You mean how she had a strange mist coming off her body….what was that?"richie asked as it made his friend pause for a moment
With delilah thinking about this moment right now really hoping her friends don't disown her for this. But slowly she claimed her nerves on the topic before she finally got the will to finally say it to them right now deciding to explain to them
"I…i have powers"she started as they sat there and listened right now
"It's just ever since that night when Becky dragged me away. She took me to some dumb alleyway and well she said i either apologize or she have her dumb boyfriend cronies beat me up. I…i was trying to walk away but one cracked me upside my head"she continued
As she stared at her hands looking down ashamed"then they dragged me down into the alleyway and planned to umm…rape…me…and video tape it for the whole school to see"she continued which came to their shock
As Richie's eyes widened in horror, she almost had that happen to her. With meadow gasping clutching mochi in her arms in shock. While sean clenched his fist in rage as artemis sat their intently listening to her
As delilah slowly exhaled"after that i…i felt something happened inside my body it's just…i…i think i developed superpowers or something…i…i…please don't tell anyone about this…i'll…be sent off to a lab or…"she paused hoping for their answer right now
As she waited for their answer right now expecting someone to be running out of the doors and screaming bloody murder. But instead she was met by something else as meadow was squealing in joy hugging her friend
"Your a superhero!"she cried in joy to her shock
"Huh?"she replied not expecting this answer right now
"Uhhhh dude this is awesome i mean….is that why you've been acting so weird for the past week?"richie asked with a excited look as sean laughed
"This is just….well someone seems to have a little unique gift to them"he said as she didn't expect this response at all right now
"You guys aren't gonna call me a monster"deliah asked to their surprise
"Why would we call you that? I mean….are you planning to rule the world or something"richie asked as she thought about that because it sounded terrible
"Ummmm no"she replied as he knew she wouldn't
"Heck no you wouldn't besides do you guys know what this means…."meadow paused as richie knew what it meant wrapping an arm around his friend right now with a huge smile
"My best friend can join the justice league!"he shouted in joy as delilah blushed at the thought of that right now. As there was utter silence with artemis smirking for a moment cupping her chin right now
"Well I mean if you don't wanna become some super villain ... .you are gonna need a costume for this"she said as meadow smirked presenting a bag in hand right now.
"Ohhhh let me get to work give me five hours"she said as they waited for what she planned to do
After maybe about five hours of waiting soon enough meadow came back with a box shoving it directly onto her friend lap right now who tried to open it but she felt her hand get smacked as she yelped
"What the heck was that for?"Deliah asked
"I don't have the equipment to make a real superhero outfit but this can work for a time being…besides put it on…come on"she said eagerly
As the girl sighed, slipping into the bathroom, putting it on as they waited. But after thirty minutes soon enough a screech of embarrassment could be heard from the other side of the door
"Hey everything good in their?"sean asked knocking on the door
"What the hell is this meadow?! Did you give me a stripper outfit!"she questioned as they all eyed meadow for a moment who shrugged her shoulder
"It's what i had in her size its from that old halloween costume she wore that one time"meadow argued as the two knew what she meant with artemis looking heavily confused
"And who was that exactly?"she questioned as the doors were slowly opened with artemis holding her laugh back right now
That being a well form fitting black bodysuit that showed off the girls curves right now. Along with that filling it in the right places as it seemed very tight in the chest areas as it was slightly left unzipped showing some cleavage. But what was on her face to hide her blush was a dark blue ski mask and goggles as delilah heavily whined in embarrassment
"How is this a superhero outfit you jerk…..this makes me look like a slut"deliah cried as sean tapped his chin for a moment
"Well it does work. Besides….its better than nothing"sean mentioned as richie asked her a very important question
"What's your superhero name?"he asked as she thought for a moment before a thought came to her mind right now one for the past week to match her powers right now
"Well i've been thinking of my powers they kinda look like a ghost so…'she paused before doing a very dramatic pose right now
"WRAITH"she declared her superhero name as she was met by silence at first. Before she was soon met by immense laughter by her friends to her embarrassment right now hearing that making her almost cry
"Is is that bad"she asked
"No…no just….that pose you did…it was too funny….it suits your weird will powers i think"sean replied whipping a tear away as she sighed with her tearing the mask off with a hopeful look for her future now
Though later on sneaking out like always was Artemis who walked outside before pulling her phone out dialing a number for a moment. As she did it rang a few times before she got an answer as she placed it to her ear
"Kaldur you their?"Artemis asked
"Indeed I am. I assume you need help on something and the team"kaldur asked as she paused for a moment
"Well lets just say that my roommate at school has something special going on with her"she said making him pause for a moment
"How so?"he asked intrigued
"She's got powers….she might be a useful addition to the team. She's a rookie but…we could avoid a super villain level threat in my opinion"artemis said as she was met by silence getting a answer soon
"I shall discuss this with the league be weary and keep an eye on her at all times"he said as she sighed
"Will do"she said, disconnecting the call looking back at her dorm window wondering what her friend will be in the future.
It seems that artemis is contacting her team on this new possible member of theirs. But deliah has chosen her name that being wraith! Though someone inepxiernced as her may cause problems in the future. Thanks for reading!
