Chapter 6:New Home
September 7th mount justice/happy harbor 8:43 am
It was like nothing happened right now as Delilah was struggling in her sleep right now. She kept tossing and turning like crazy right now. But as she slept she kept panting as she tossed and turned several times in her sleep like crazy right now. As she did she had flashes of what happened last night during the patrol
While she kept tossing and turning she soon saw what black spider did to her friend. That being stabbing him in the back as he fell to the ground. With Richie staring at her with tears in his eyes before going fully black. This made her shoot awake panting for air right now
As she began to cough and gasp right now several times. While she did she slowly realized what this was. It seemed to be a panic attack. Slowly taking a few breaths she calmed her nerves for a moment as she calmed her breathing. With her rubbing her throat looking up confused
Taking in her new surroundings she saw herself in a simple living quarter that had a cabinet for her clothes. She noticed a nearby shower and bathroom combo from what she saw. Along with that there were boxes that were hers it seems measuring in about four of them with a couple bags. Looking down she saw herself in a queen size bed
"Where am i? This isn't my room i….oh right"she said aloud to herself recalling last night now
This made her process what happened last night wondering if it was truly a dream. She thought about where she was right now, that being in some place to train these powers of her. But she got to meet actual heroes and villains and….her best friend got hurt.
Thinking about that for a great start to her morning right now she began to get teary eyed right now. With her starting to cry a little worried what happened to her friend right now and wondered if something horrible happened to him
Elsewhere in another area that being just down the hall was the team right now. But changed into more casual wear but in superboy case his normal attire.
As for robin he changed into something more form fitting that being some blue jeans with him wearing a green shirt underneath a red hoodie jacket. With some sunglasses that didn't show his eyes.
Then there was kaldur wearing a pair of form fitting black pants with no shoes on right now. While he wore a form fitting zip up teal colored tracksuit with silver zippers on it with a wave symbol on the right breast pocket.
Then there was Wally wearing some balck jeans with him sporting a white long sleeve shirt with him wearing an unbuttoned light blue shirt over it with some red running shoes on.
Then there was Miss Martian wearing a light pink t-shirt under a short sleeve crop top sweater with a skirt that were both white. While she had on knee high white socks and had on dark blue shoes with a headband to keep her hair back as it was color blue. With artemis in her school attire.
As they were walking they talked to start their day
"So you think the new girl on the team single"kid flash asked
"Wally! That extremely rude don't you think"miss martian said as robin sighed rubbing his head before smacking wallys as he grunted slightly
"M'gann got a point besides i feel like we should still go by our codenames around here. Like we do with artemis"robin said as artemis rolled her eyes
"Yeah yeah i aint trustworthy since i've replaced your buddy speedy"she said
"Hey speedy was a good part of the team and you….eh i got nothing you got anything connor"wally asked superboy who still had a existing frown on his face
"No, I don't even know why I'm here. She threw me through a wall last night"conner growled
"And I'm sure she will apologize for that. Someone that just unlocked their powers will go under emotional stress"kaldur warned as the teen grunted in response as artemis sighed rubbing her face
"Guys give her an easy time. I barely know her but seriously she might be umm…"she paused as they reached the door. But on conner perception his ear tingle a little as he could hear something on the other side
"I hear something"he said making them on guard right now
Wally groaned"don't tell me the cave got infiltrated, we just got used to being here?"he asked but robin eyed the door hearing the faint muffled noises of someone crying
"I think what he hears is our new little teammate crying"Robin stated as they stared at the door for a moment. As they did their was a long pause right now as kaldur stepped forward about to knock on the door but artemis stopped him right their
"Ummm you good artemis? I mean shouldn't we check on her"wally asked as she sighed
"One you're not a girl. Second….i guess she emotionally after last night"Artemis said as they paused for a moment as m'gann stepped forward
"I can just go inside and ask her whats wrong"she said but the blonde stopped her
"No offense m'gann you don't know girls like here…..beside i can break it down easy to her. You guys go ahead and eat breakfast"artemis said
"Are you sure you can handle this yourself? '' Kaldur asked as she nodded as he respected that. Motion for them to leave as they did. Waiting for them to be far enough internally artemis prepared herself for her friend to see the real her
Knocking gently on the door she waited for a moment before someone responded
"Ummm do i need to….go against a wall or something"deliah said on the other side as artemis spoke up twisting the door knob seeing it was unlocked sighing entering the room
"No but ... you're gonna get one heck of a shock right now"Artemis said, opening the door to reveal Delilah sitting on her bed still. But the two eyes met right now as there was a moment of science as delilah screech pointing directly at her
"Why are you here?! Did they put sean and meadow here along with barbara?!"deliah shouted as artemis winced sighing
"Not exactly, I think this will jog your memory from last night,"she said, slipping her mask on. With delilah studying her face before her eyes bulged out of her head in complete shock right now as she recognized that from the news
"Oh my god your a superhero!"she shouted for a moment before rage set in
"That why you snuck out at the academy every night at night and slept so much in the afternoon!"She shouted as there was a pause as artemis began to laugh for a moment sighing for a bit shaking her head
"Yep thats me…but ummm look about last night"she said as delilah looked down whipping the fresh tears away that remained
"Is…is richie ok or has he woken up yet in the hospital"she asked immediately
"I don't know you…but look worry about it later okay you can't really make a phone call anyway without supervision. "Artemis said to her disappointment as they got silent as artemis walked in sitting on the end of her bed placing a hand on her back
"Hey look, I know what happened was tough. But don't worry we'll get the guy the league is working on it as we speak okay."artemis said as delilah growled a little
"You mean that punk who stabbed my friend….i want some payback"she growled as artemis saw those eyes before flicking her on the head as she yelped
"Don't go all kill mode on me. The league got him your not even trained properly"she said
"Hey i got defense training from my dad phillip….he's pretty good in a fight despite pushing pencil"she argued as that didn't matter much here as artemis dusted herself off smiling at her
"Well….thats why your here because we gotta give you a tour and well you gotta meet your new teammates"artemis said to her friend confusion who looked down seeing she was in some street clothes
"Could i change my clothes real quick"deliah asked as artemis nodded. Ducking out after twenty minutes of waiting she came back fully clothed as artemis stared at her holding a laugh back which she noticed
"What?"she asked
"Nothing i think no one noticed how tall you are yet ... .god wallys gonna flip"artemis said walking ahead confusing her who that was but followed her to their next designation.
After following her for a bit they soon arrived in a kitchen-like area of the facility right now. As it had a fully stocked kitchen with a marble countertop. Along with that there was some recycling and trash bins on one side of the counter. Their was even a sink for quick cleaning of dishes
But close by was a lounge area that had a couch with a very large television. Along with a glass table there that people could put their drinks on. But infront of her the teen flinched seeing the other five right now out of costume as there was an awkward silence between them but kaldur approached her to greet her
"Greeting i am kaldur'ahm its a pleasure to meet you"kaldur said offering a hand as she noticed his hands where webbed creeping her out a little
"Ummm what's with your hands….why is that girl green?"she asked pointing at m'gann who nervously waved at her
"Ohhh umm i'm a martian ... .hello i'm m'gann m'orzz. "M'gann greeted making her go completely wide eyed for a moment hearing that
"Your an alien"she said making them pause for a moment
"That gonna be problem because…"wally paused noticing the gleaming detail she taller than them along with staring at conner as his eyes bulged out of his head
"Whoa! Supply here got beat for being the tallest one here now! And kaldur!"Wally said laughing right now ruining the mood as artemis growled elbowing him in the chest making him wheeze for air
"Wally west everyone the glorious sidekick of one flash…or by his name kid flash"artemis said as wally got air in his lungs as delilah froze hearing that putting two and two together right now staring at kaldur who sighed
"If you're wondering if I am my king partner, I am. I am aqualad"kaldur mentioned to her complete surprise but blinked a little before calming herself down right now
"So ummm your robin i guess"deliah said pointing at robin who waved to her for a moment
"Thats me"he said but hearing his voice she looked at him strange for a moment which they noticed
"What's up with you? Your staring at the twerp like he did something"artemis asked as delilah walked over getting in his personal space as robin placed a hand on a secret bo staff he had hidden in his jeans
"Hey i suggest you back off or we might have trouble day one"robin said but she quickly backed up
"Sorry you look familiar for some reason but ummm…uhhh…"she paused staring at wally who waved
"Like they said i'm wally west the quickest guy around"he said zipping around before quickly returning with a piping cup of coffee right now
"Coffee"he asked as she hesitantly took it to start her day right now. As she did conner growled making her stare at him strangely for a moment
"Who are you?"she asked
"Well you see he's well how do we explain this"robin said as conner growled
"I'm Superboy, also known as connor. I'm also the clone of superman made by cadmus"conner explained every bluntly as wally smacked his own face. With delilah looking shocked that this random guy is the extract clone of superman himself which she found to be a complete shock
"Your…a clone? That…how is that even possible"she questioned as robin scratched his head
"It's a very long explanation. I mean it'll take a long time. Short and simple we found him in an underground lab but he's harmless"robin said as connor growled as she guessed it was a mostly part of it right now. As their was another awkward pause artemis sighed
"Look why don't we all not overwhelm her right now ... .would you like a tour of your new home for a while till you control those powers of yours"artemis said as delilah thought for a moment shrugging her shoulders.
"Sure it'll be fun i guess….yeah i'm trapped in a lavish prison"she joked as wally laughed
"Hey she's got jokes like her already. So let's start off here. This is our little kitchen and lounge. "Wally said, presenting the room. As she walked around exploring it like a puppy exploring her new home. Peeking over the edge she went wide eyed
As there was a very large central chamber with a large metallic like object in the middle of it. As it looked like a giant tube but she eyed two strange tube like objects on one end of the room as she eyed the room the sound of metal footsteps could be heard
Following the source she flinched to see a tall red robot with no ears or nose. His mouth had eye sockets that are black giving him the appearance of an emotionless robot. While he has a giant yellow T in the middle of his chest with a yellow arrow on his forehead. With him wearing a blue cape
"Gah!"she screamed falling onto the ground as the boy approached her as she shield herself in fear but instead he offered a helping hand
"I apologize for startling you ma'am. I am red tornado it is a pleasure to meet you''red tornado said as she stared at him realizing who she is
"Hey big guy don't scare the newbie. Besides that my job when halloween rolls around"wally said as artemis helped her friend up sighing
"This is the pretty much den mother of the cave he's pretty much our glorified babysitter"She said as red tornado stood motionless staring at them creeping delilah out just a little
"Well um nice to meet you…umm robot guy…aren't you that hero on the news"she asked
"Correct. I am a red tornado android who can conduct wind based cyclones around my arms and legs. In short i created a vortex colored in a red hue"red tornado said as he approached them for a moment
"Children be prepared, I will be leaving you for the time being. I need to attend a meeting with the league on…our new guest"he said walking away from them as artemis guided delilah away
"Come on we'll show you around"She said as they began their tour of the new home she'll be living in right now.
As they began to show her all over the place as they showed her the locker rooms of the facility. As it had whatever they needed to store their items along with showing her that they had a workout room. With benches and other weights to use for the time off or needed training. But they also showed her the medical bay right now as they kept moving around as they talked.
"Soooo new girl you're from gotham…guess your like robin here"wally said
"Which is a surprise. But you did pick a terrible place to start off on your crusade"kaldur said as it hurt delilah a little for a moment but she brushed it off
"I was dumb okay….but this place is whoa you guys live here"she asked
"Uh well me and connor we kinda are roommates. But were both great friends actually"m'gann said with a smile as he growled
"Yeah and our new friend threw me through a wall"he said as she eyed him for a moment confused as it hit her with her nervously smiling
"Ohhh that was you….ohhhh i feel like a complete jerk sorry i kinda well lost it"she said as he stared at her for a moment scoffing as he walked ahead confusing her
"Did he just scoff at me….i said i was sorry"She added anger right now
"Eh that's how he is, besides he appreciates it I'm sure. He has a way of showing it"Artemis replied, eyeing him down for a bit which Delilah noticed taking a mental note of that. But another thing she noticed was that robin guy she narrowed her gaze again staring at him long and hard which m'gann noticed
"Is something wrong with robin"she pointed out as they stared at her as delilah narrowed her eyes before going wide eyed right now recognizing him now
"Oh my god…grayson! Dick grayson!''she shouted loudly as it echoed with them pausing for a moment as Robin flinched hearing that. As he did wally began to laugh holding his gut as he exhaled slowly with a sigh going into a smile
"Grayson she figured out your identity so quick….oh man"he said as robin growled taking his shade off confirming her suspicions as he messed around with them for a bit
"Yep it's me….how'd you figure it out"he asked not even caring right now
"Hard to miss the short shrimp who's annoying and takes random pictures of people as a joke. Along with your little hacking crap….you hacked my phone one time prick"delaih growled as he laughed for a moment with kaldur crossing his arms
"It seems that we are well acquainted now with names. Since you will be under very close watch with your…powers""he stated as how could she forget that
"Come on let's continue the tour to my favorite room in the place"Wally said speeding ahead almost hitting conner who growled splitting up from them walking off on his own which they noticed but the other didn't bother which she guessed was normal
After following the speedstar to the next room right now soon enough they arrived somewhere. That being an empty room it seems but there was one thing in the room. That being a shelf that had some items there with their being a few things of notice.
There were some items there, the first being some robotic looking eye it seems. With their being a hood and mask from the looks of it. Along with an arrow there along with that there was a cheshire mask that looked strange. But there was a golden helmet in the center of it as this confused her
"What is all of this stuff"She asked
"Just some souvenirs wally collected for our missions is all"m'gann explained as she examined them for a moment confused by the first mask
"What's with the first mask"She asked
"Oh that right there you should be filled in. it belongs to cobra"dick mentioned to her surprise as her dad mentioned them before
"Those crazy bio terroist guys? The ones who believe in snakes or something"She asked as he nodded
"Forgot your stepdad is a security expert and they tried to raid his business a year ago. Thanks to me and bat stopping it for you"dick said as she narrowed her gaze at him for that before asking for the reason
"So why do you have it"she asked
It was our first mission. Well us five not with Artemis she just joined like you. But point being claimed the bad boy from some cobra lackey and we even met the infamous bane. "Wally explained quickly
"He was a bit of a handful with that venom along with mammoth"m'gann explained peeking her interest now
"You ran into that guy? Huh….i wonder if what sean said is true"She said aloud confusing them
"And this sean is your friend right?"kaldur asked
"Yeah guy from one of the upper classes, you talking about that rumor about his dad knowing bane"artemis replied as dick confirmed something
"Guys father did and did land a solid hit on him. If i recall he owes his dad a few favors for letting him crash at his gym for a hangout spot. Lucky him it never turned into a venom den santa prisca is more his style"he said as delilah jaw dropped in shock hearing it was true that dumb rumor was true
"Oh my god the rumor is true….ugh i owe him twenty bucks now"she whined as they paused with a few laughing at that right now as she quickly eyed the helmet that was golden picking it up
As instinct took over almost putting it on but quickly something happened. She began to glow green as m'gann eyes glowed green as she used her telekinesis to tear the helmet away. With wally placing that back on the shelf as they put her back down onto the ground
"Hey look that thing right their is dangerous it's sort of like a magical artifact"wally warned
"But…why leave it out and was i just leaviating?"she asked in surprised as kaldur stepped forward
"The helmet houses an ancient spirit known as nabu. He is a god of order and inhabitants that helmet we retrieve it from an old mission to the tower of fate meeting his old host"kaldur explained as she was amazed to hear magic exist guessing it did as she rubbed her arm for a moment
"So ummmm do i go on these missions or something"she asked a little nervous as they all shared a look
"Ehhhh probably not your a rookie and you have no fighting experience"wally boasted as she narrowed her gaze. Suddenly she grabbed his arm before slamming him against a wall twisting his arm behind his back pressing his face against a wall
Dick reached for his hidden bo staff in his jeans as kaldur got in a offensive stance as delilah scoffed into a laugh
"Buddy I got trained by my step dad on how to fight people. Pretty sure i've broken that bitch becky dent nose a few times and her dumb ox of a boyfriend buddies."she said as quickly breaking out of it wally held his hands up surprised seeing her move that fast
"Well my bad ...hey let's finish this tour up. Because we should have lunch or something soon"he asked as they decided to continue the tour. As they were leaving artemis eyed the cherisa mask shaking her head thinking to herself
"That dumb mask…jade is so done next time i fight here"she thought hoping the martian was listening
As they continued their tour for the day they soon enough finished it off meeting back at the kitchen. As they got their superboy was still nowhere in sight but dick walked over grabbing some freeze dried pizza shrugging his shoulder
"Anyone down for some pizza"he asked as wally shrugged his shoulder
"Sure my super fast metabolism makes me super hungry for calories"he said as he popped it into the oven turning it on. As they waited for it to cook they got silent for a moment as m'gann stared at their new teammate curious about something
"Oh i have a question for our new teammate"She said peeking some interest
"Huh might as well we've been talking about ourselves for a bit"dick added
"Why is your hair white? I'm sure in human it can only turn white if you dye it or if it caused by immense trauma"m'gann bluntly said as the other eyed her with artemis shushing her waving her hands around right now
"Ohhh m'gann you have no idea how bad that sounds."wally replied confusing the martian
"How is that bad?"she asked
"That type of thing might be very sensitive for someone m'gann. "Kaldur reminded as the martian looked worried as she bowed her head
"Sorry! I didn't know. I'm sometimes a little forgetful since i only know a bit of human culture"she apologized but delilah twirled her hair for a moment shrugging her shoulder
"No problem i was just born with white hair is all"Delaih explained calmly to some surprise especially dick eyeing that trait making a very high mental note of that as wally looked surprised
"Born with white hair? How'd that happen?"he asked as she shrugged her shoulder
"Don't know probably my prick of a dad who left my mom when i was born. Ughhh i am so happy i've never met him mom tells me he was an absolute jerk"she said as they began to enjoy this peaceful night right now. As someone else had to make an important decision on this new problem.
It seems someone is adjusting somewhat to her new living situation in mount justice. But what will happen as the league decides to either lock up this new super powered teen or train her properly with her powers. Thanks for reading!
