Chapter 9:First Mission Part 1
September 13th california 9:47pm
It was a late night in the city of california right now as everyone was busy enjoying some time off for the night. But one other person wasn;t enjoying a time off for the night right now that being a certain home. It was a home built of strong wood and was stylish in design like a private condo from the look of it.
Inside a private study room out of the many rooms sat a man. Not just any man that was a man who was in his late thirties. As he had some graying hair with him having brown hair. Along with that he had a thick mustache while he wore a simple pair of blue jeans with a purple wool sweater on
Right now he was busy typing away on a computer right now. That was busy deleting and replacing any files onto a flashdrive connected to his computer. While he was doing that right now suddenly the sound of footsteps could be heard. Once he heard them he eyed a handgun on the table
Eyeing it for a moment quickly he grabbed it with shaky hands. As he was pointing it at the door staring at the progress bar right now. It was close to 100 percent with him having sweat beading down his face with nerves running high right now for him. While he stared at it soon enough a voice spoke up
"Dear i got our bags ready along with our daughter"a women voice said making him sigh in complete relief right now hearing her voice
"Thank god honey! "He said before reaching over seeing the flash drive was done as he walked over to the doorway right now
"We can leave grab our little girl and we can leave"he said in complete relief but laughter could be heard with a long sigh
"Ohhhh fell for the oldest trick in the book buddy…voice modular"a male voice spoke up
The man looked scared as he looked up to see the culprit of the voice. That being to someone wearing a burgundy and black bodysuit with gear all around his waist and chest. As he had a utility belt for several pouches and two holstered handguns on either side. While he had two dual wrist mounted guns on his wrist peeking out from a black trench coat. One thing was important that being a silver mask with a single scope for him to see
As this was deadshot the best assassin for hire to kill anyone with one shot and one kill
The man flinched drawing the handgun but deadshot put a finger up
"Ah ah ah mr. gustav i suggest you don't do that"deadshot warned
"Where is my wife and daughter!?"he shouted as the primmering of the hammers could be heard. Following the source the man looked in shock right now
As before him was a woman who was his age while she had tanned skin with black curly hair that was all messy. But she was in some pajamas that were silk and colored light yellow but had someone in her arms
That being a little girl who was nine years old with her tan skin like her mother. But she wore a pair of pink pants with a wonder woman t-shirt on right now.
But what was a shock was the two guns pointed at the woman's head. As there were armed guards there with them having a strange symbol on their shoulder right now. That being a skull and crossbone right now
The man froze in fear as the mother was in fear
"Dear! Please do something!"she cried out as the little girl was quietly crying into her mother arms as deadshot stepped forward getting near the man
"You got two options here doc….give me what i won't have to blow up your daughter pretty head"he said as the man eyed the man before firing off a shot
But it wasn't for him, instead it was his computer as the doctor smiled at him.
"Good luck trying to use my plans for your employer…it's all up here"he said but deadshot stared at him laughing grabbing him by the collar
"We can still make that work right now"he said as he dragged them away walking past a trail of dead bodies. As he had a new mission in mind for his employer right now to complete
It's been a full week of delilah being here in mount justice which has been a little hard and great in a way. First off she has been missing her home so much since she left it but she managed to have a few video calls with her mom and sisters. It's been nice with her step dad coming by every few days to check on her and her mental well being which has been awesome at times.
She tries to ask them about Richie and how he has been doing lately but they've been silent about that lately which scares her. Though she kinda wonders if he's okay as even sean and meadow won't answer her calls which sucks. Because they banned it from telling her friends which sucked
Though it's not all too bad as she managed to make some new friends here from her new teammates. Learning that brat dick Grayson was Robin was a shock and soon enough she found out who Batman was. As he came by one time and she said he was Bruce Wayne with him just glaring at her which creeped her out.
Though they bonded over their shared history a little with her training with him a few times. But he also played a few pranks on her with that hacking device of his.
Then there was superboy and he was a strange bunch in her opinion. Apparently he's the carbon copy of superman but compared to him he wasn't like him at all. He was always so angry along with that, always grunting and growling at anything. But he won't let her dog go sometimes as that seemed to be a weakness of his...fluffy pets.
While they were kaldur and from what she figured out he's an altaians. That Atlantis was real which she figured out from her finding on Aquaman right now. Which was amazing to learn that some magic even exist along with meeting an actual magician in the form of someone named zatara.
After that I was that annoying wally west which she found super annoying. All he did was hit on her at times or try to impress her or that martian girl. It's been so annoying she is ready to flat out tell him she likes girls but wants to play the long game to screw with him.
After that it was her friend she talked to briefly at school that was an artemis. But she was a strange sort in a way but it was so nice to have another person she knew. They kinda bonded over their shared interest in archery since she used to do some. But she was secretive when she asked if she was the niece of green arrow which she responded to very quickly on the matter
Then lastly it was the martian who was that martian guy niece or something. She was a strange bunch in the week with her always saying hello megan like some catchphrase that she heard from somewhere before. But it's nice to not be the only other girl on this team with her being a nice change of pace
But her mentor Nico or by his superhero name Revannt has been a godsend. Their powers sort of work in a similar way but they are different. They got some results from star labs explaining to her this haze from her body she emits. It's sort of connected to her biology from what they've figured out so far. But from what she figured out she got a few powers right now
The first were the ones she figured out before but another popped up. The ability to apparently change her height which was annoying to figure out. But she figured out she could change certain parts of her body which were hard with concentration. Though they told her some bits and piece that they plan to tell her in due time
But right now they were busy enjoying some lunch right now inside the hall. While they did aqualad was studying a tablet right now seeing something that was missing. While the other talked
"So whats on today agenda because…man these brownies are to die for"wally said as katherine sent a batch with dick laughing
"Of course they are. Its like her speciality seriously they even make bats smile"dick replied eating one as ghost was trying to snatch one but artemis pushed the little pup down off the couch they were sitting at
"Hey bad pup you can't have chocolate"she warned
"I rather not have something happen to the…dog"conner added as wally laughed for a moment
"Conner got attached to him…i vote we make the dog a team mascot"wally said as artemis scoffed throwing a pillow at his fast nailing him their making him stumble
"You're more of the team mascot. Besides….it seems that kaldur is quite busy in something"artemis said
"You've been nose deep in that news article you mentioned earlier. Everything okay kaldur"m'gann replied
Kaldur paused for a moment"it is bothering me. It seems that someone went missing recently and it's barely over the news right now."he replied as footsteps could be heard as they looked over. They all saw red tornado with nico and orin by his side as kaldur bowed to him slightly
"My king what brings you here today"kaldur said
"Steady yourself, kaldur. We are here to give you your new mission come down"he said as they walked down with delilah staying quiet hoping she can come along right now on this mission
At the mission briefing red tornado projected a holographic display as it showed that new article that the fish person was reading earlier.
"Two to three days ago. This man right here is henry gustav the leading engineer in marine biology and an expert in the field. He has been missing since then."Red tornado explained
"Any idea what this has to do with him missing"dick questioned as orin nodded
"The good doctor and I were working on an investigation on shutting down an oil rig. "Orin said as kaldur spoke up
"The same oil rig for a year straight polluting the seas near atlantis and has affected some of its citizens of the deep"kaldur said as his king nodded to him as it displayed the man with his family right now
"This is his wife Maria and his daughter lily. They were missing at their home and we need you to investigate their disappearance. "Orin said as robin stepped forward smiling
"You got it. "He said as they were prepared to leave as delilah tapped her finger together for a bit
"Am i going?"She asked as there was silence as nico smiled walking over presenting a box in hand
"Well I mean it should be a relatively easy mission. Though this got done yesterday go and try it on kid"he said exciting her as she particularly snatched it running away to change as wally laughed right now
"Someone excited to go on their first mission i don't blame her."wally said as they waited for her
After maybe twenty minutes the girl came back out in her uniform. That being a full bodysuit that was colored dark blue in color. While there was also how it complimented her curves along with wearing some knee pads on it and elbow pads. But there was also a utility belt on her waist colored black in design. Another object of interest was the built in hood for the costume with her wearing a strange mask right now. As it looked like a kitsune mask with decorative lines and blue eyes on it with the jaw seeming to move on it. Along with it having some displays on the mask it she wore knee high black boots with white clasp on it to hold it together.
There was a moment of silence right now as she didnt like that right now
"What? Too dark"She asked as they paused for a moment
"Eh, it's a little weird to just wear the same one from before. Thought you wanted something different."dick said
"Thought you didn't wanna look like in your words…revealing"artemis teased making the mask do something as it showed a blushing emoticon face on it before flicking revealing her upper face right now to their surprise
"Whoa! A LED display mask okay this is nice….you make this"he asked as nico chuckled
"Nah girl asked me to make a request to someone and your friend said hi kiddio. He made that speciality for you"nico said as he meant richie which he allowed because he met the boy and knows what happened to him
Delilah sighed moving the mask around revealing it to be like a ski mask right now
"Yeah richie is a nut and genius but ummm should i have a weapon to defend myself maybe"She asked
"You'll be fine my dear. But i suggest you all head to the bioship your off to california."orin siad
As they walked over to the hanger to be met by something strange. That being a red oblong shape object in the middle which confused their new teammate severely right now on what this was.
"What is that?"She asked as m'gann laughed smiling brightly right now
"Its bioship ... .wake up"she said as it seemed to recognize her. As suddenly it started to spin 180 degrees around in a motion right now. Then sudden;y it started to take a shape into a large aerodynamic ship colored red and black color to it. It surprised her as a small staircase came off it with the others boarding it without any argument as she quickly followed inside
As they all got inside of the ship as it revealed a captain chair with five chairs inside for the team. Once inside they all got strapped inside with her studying it in shock
"Whoa. this is a ship…i mean…it's….cool"She said as m'gann laughed waving her hands as a seat appeared for their new teammate
"Take a seat and get strapped in. were off to california"dick said as she did with all of them getting strapped in. as the bay doors soon opened for them as heir ship sped off going 90 degrees upward leaving the mainland as they headed off to their next designation right now to save this kidnapped family
California september 15th 1:13pm
Their flight was a little long but Delilah was more immersed in looking outside of the window the entire time. As she was busy staring out at the city below them in complete surprise she riding in an alien ship right now with kaldur speaking up
"Robin i want you to scan for any traces of interference and check the security cameras when we arrive on the property"aquald ordered as robin eyed him internally scoffing
"Yeah yeah leader….i got it"he replied seeming bothered by it as aqualad looked toward wally
"Kid flash you will scout the interior and outer perimeter of the home"he added as he looked toward some of the others
"The rest of you clear the ground and find any trace of evidence that links us to the possible intel the doctor had"aqualad ordered
"Got it. Me, miss martian, superboy and…."artemis paused eyeing her friend who wasn't paying attention as she cleared her throat getting her attention right now making delilah flinch a little right now
"Wraith you need to pay attention and listen to the mission details"aqualad said in a serious tone
"Sorry ummm my bad just ... .well….kinda new to all of this ... .aqualad"wraith replied right now as they switched to their code names now with them all flying through the skies as they arrived at the property. Once their immediately bioship began to land right now as the doors opened with them stepping out
Once they stepped out they were met by a large estate-like area. That had police tape all over the main entrance with their being some chalk outlines infront of them as superboy noticed blood on the ground
"We got some old blood here…seems that whoever attacked the place killed the guards here"he commented
"Quite obviously man. But let's get linked up and move out"kid flash replied
What were we supposed to get comms?"Wraith asked but suddenly a long ringing noise was heard in her head. Then suddenly before her a voice began to ring out inside her head right now
"Don't worry we got my mind link with telepathy"miss martian said inside her head as it made delilah wince in complete pain hearing that right now which artemis noticed
"Hey you okay over here?"she asked as delilah thought for a moment nodding to her rubbing her head
"Yeah just….are you reading my mind or something"deliah asked as miss martian shook her head
"I sort of am. I linked our minds along with the others right now to communicate with each other."miss martian explained as someone else spoke up in their mind link
"We need to move. I'll be with robin to check the security camera the rest of you check inside and be careful on what you may run into"aqualad warned
As they all split up to cover more ground right now. With the house group stepping inside to check it out. Once inside their there more chalk lines along with broken and destroyed furniture like someone was searching for something here in a rush right now
"Seems someone beat us to it here….wonder if anything is left"artemis commented
As superboy narrowed his gaze seeing small traces of heat on the ground with him relaying it
"I can see some small hints of heat on the ground but nothing else. Should we split up"he asked
"Or i could go through quickly"kid flash said pulling his goggles down planting his feet. Then in a shift motion the kid speedster sprinted around the entire house quickly searching through the bottom floor of the home. As he did he was quickly searching through the place as the other waited for him as soon enough he zipped back over to them right now with some bad news
"Bad news, nothing except all I found was a broken lock in the back. Might be our perps"kid flash said
"But that makes no sense…this place looks heavily guarded who broke into a place like this"wraith questioned
"No clue. But we're searching the top floor next come on,"Miss Martian said, throwing her hood up as she went invisible. Then the martian floated up to the next floor as they followed her up to the next floor to investigate what was upstairs.
Once they were upstairs the four were in a hallway as Miss Martian floated through the floorboards. As she threw her hood back reappearing walking as superboy opened a room finding a child room all decorated in pink. But stepping inside he picked up a ruined wonder woman doll that was stepped on as he narrowed his gaze
"Seems they got the kid first in here maybe"superboy said
"Maybe your right SB. man i hate when people just take kids…i mean how messed up you gotta be to take a kid"kid flash replied
"A Lot of people can be that messed up. But we should search somewhere else right now to see what we can come up with"artemis stated as miss martian thought of one
"The study could have some useful intel we could use"she said as they all agreed on that
Quickly walking into the study they looked seeing the entire place was torn to shreds right now. With there being several pieces of electronics on the ground with circuit boards on the ground. But their was also a smashed window in the room
Stepping inside with her foot felt something crack as she lifted it up revealing a family photo. She picked it up examining it with her mask flicking slightly revealing her eyes
"Guess this was the doctor office so what should we look for"She asked
"No clue anything that might tell us what they're after right now.''Artemis said as they began to carefully look around the room. As they began to search around the room m'gann foot hit some wood but superboy enhanced hearing heard something small scrap underneath it
"Hold on…your foot hit something, ''he said to her as she lifted the piece of wood where her foot was. Which revealed a flash drive as she picked it up with a surprised look
"A flashdrive…what would be on here"she asked
"Well maybe Rob can tell us. Lets go tell him and aqualad what we found"kid flash replied as they agreed to show them what they found
With the two right now robin was busy hacking into the security camera as kaldur kept watch for anything. As he was working his magic on the computer he soon found a hit right now with a loud ding being heard as he smirked
"I'm in"robin said
Aqualad walked over"Good. Search for the data on the night the kidnapping happened. I would like to see who did this"he said as Robin noticed his hurry in his tone.
"Let me guess big man here wanna save some of his fish friends"robin replied as kaldur nodded
"I would rather not lose more of my home robin. Please play it''aqualad asked kindly
Immediately pressing play on the log the screen flickered as it showed the guards doing their normal rounds right now. As the two saw nothing out of the ordinary right now
"Nothing out of the ordinary but ... .wait a minute what's that?"Robin said, noticing something right now.
As in the feed suddenly something happened as one of the guards had something thrown in their head. With another noticing it about to call out but someone tackled them to the ground. That someone being deadshot who wrapped his hands around their neck before snapping it as he dropped them to the ground. As he then moved his hands around
From the side of the camera stepping into view were some armed men. But the assassin looked up firing off a shot easily destroying the camera right now as they found a lead
"So it seems we are dealing with deadshot….we must warn the others"aqualad replied
Quickly both groups regrouped with one another as kid flash zipped over toward his colleague
"So you two find anything on our assistants?"he asked
"Oh we did,"Robin said, projecting the feed with his glove right now. As it showed their mark being deadshot as delilah looked confused
"Whos that?"she asked
"This right here is deadshot. His real name is flyod Lawton but he's an expert marksman and sniper. Wanted for hundred of kill with one thing in common one shot to the head"robin explained
"Another assassin? How many of these guys do we need to deal with their a dime a dozen"kid flash replied
"He's still dangerous. But we found something he might be looking for look at this"miss martian said presenting the flashdrive. Quickly robin plugged it into a tablet as it slowly loaded onto it which he saw the length
"It'll take a half hour for it to load fully"he said
"A half hour we don't have ... .we should find the partner of a good doctor. Maybe he can answer our questions on where the doctor and his family could be, "Kaldur said as they agreed to a boarding bioship to do just that. As they did, watching from the shadows were armed soldiers who nodded to each other following after them from a distance in a Suv.
Seems the team has a lead on the kidnapping of this marine bioloigst. But why would they take him and what do they plan to do with him and his family. This ends part 1
