Chapter Fifty-Five
Black Friday Blog Post

November 23, 2018
Dear Readers of the Casey Family Blog:
I know, new title again. (Sorry for that). But I think this one will stick, as that's what me and my husband are. We're already a family, and we're currently expecting our first children (twins if you've forgotten). Now, boy do I have an update for you guys. As you all know, yesterday was Thanksgiving Day (happy belated Thanksgiving by the way everybody) and boy was it a Thanksgiving to remember. And I can only explain it by one word: DRAMA! I know, what's a family holiday without a bit of family drama. Well, that's not exactly the reason why there was drama. Buckle up readers, because you guys are in for a wild ride when I tell you guys just what happened yesterday. Well first, I want to say this…before any of you worry, Baby A and Baby B Casey are fine; there's nothing to worry about when it comes to the twins. They are both okay, so don't get your panties in a twist when you hear about how we went to the hospital recently.

Rather, that was for another reason. Unfortunately, one of our friends' dads had a heart attack yesterday; and that was the first part of the drama, as it happened so early on into Matt's shift. (If you forgot, I mentioned that I may not be posting yesterday because Matt was working). Well, he did work…for one call. That ended up being his only (and last) call of the day, and for the rest of his career. Yes, unfortunately I am no longer married to a hunky firefighter (he'll always be one in my arms though). The reason? Well, here's the thing. The man I referred to as 'our friend's dad' isn't just one of our friend's dads to my husband. Rather, he's always been a type of a surrogate father to my husband, so it hit pretty close to home for my husband. And even worse, said man was also a firefighter; and it just hit really close to home, along with other things. God, I didn't think it would be this hard to explain. But here's the short version. Firefighter + Exposure = Heart Attack.

And he didn't like that. As you all know, my husband has always wanted to be a father; so, he's worried that, if he stays at the firehouse…that it will happen to him as well, and he's just too scared. But this time, he said he's done. He can't do it anymore because it's just getting way too hard for him to do it, especially after he just watched the man he sees as a surrogate father go ahead and have a heart attack. So yeah, that was the first thing that we had to deal with yesterday; my husband quitting the fire department for good. (Still have to talk to him about the fact that this is for good, or else I will be holding back sex). Okay, maybe not during my pregnancy (hello, hormones). And that means that I will not be the happiest of wives. But that's not what matters right now, as that's really just the first part of this post; now, we need to talk about what happened on Thanksgiving. God, a bunch happened. Let's first start with the fact that I got to see my family for a bit.

We ended up surprising my mom at her place, and that was really nice. But it turns out, that my friend's dad's heart attack didn't just impact my husband; it also impacted me, as I really started to have a hard time. Heck, I just started to hold on to my husband so close…as I was scared to loose him. But now, I am proud to say that I am going to have him for the rest of my life, and that's just the best feeling in the entire world. Now, I am not going to say that this is all thanks to that fact that my friend's dad had a heart attack; but I do think that it would've never happened had he not had a heart attack. Be honest with me in the comments people, is it wrong for me to be grateful for this heart attack to save my husband's life for the rest of my life; and also take a load of stress off of my mind. (By the way, if you're reading this Severide…I'm really sorry. I just use this to post what I'm thinking right now). But still, I am just glad that I am going to have him safe for the rest of his life.

But God, that was just the first part of the day. Now, onto the part that involves family….and a bunch of drama. God, when they say that pregnant women have hormones…they weren't kidding. I have never had a pregnancy go this far before, so I have really never experienced any of this before. So, it's all new to mem and I am always wondering when it comes to how this all works. But still, it's nice to learn about this as I go. I am so glad that I get to have this experience with Matt, and I'm just ready to spend the day with him. We both agreed that today is going to be a day in bed, where we can both just relax with each other as we take it easy in bed; wearing our sweats since I need to take it easy. God, I swear…my BP was way too high yesterday, and I just needed to calm down. It's actually why we left my mom's place very early. (We left around 4). We just couldn't do it and we rested in bed for the rest of the night. I have to say though, that was the best part of the whole thing. Just us cuddling up to each other in bed, taking it easy as we relaxed for the sake of our children. All I want to do.

And I have a pretty good feeling that we're going to do that again today, because we have some more plans; plans to do some shopping of course for our beautiful children. I can't wait to do that, and I am so glad that we are doing this. So far, this holiday season has started off great; and I already love my first gift. My loving husband leaving the fire department. Sure, he's going to miss the job (that's a guarantee). But I know that he's going to love the fact that he gets to have more time at home with me and the kids even more. Now, time to just take it easy and go have some breakfast. Well, after he wakes up. God, I hope he comes down soon. But for now, I have Hulu on…and I'm enjoying a bit of 'The Bachelor from Last Season'. Matt refused to let me watch it, so I am going to catch up ahead of next season (which I plan on watching). Now, have a good day everybody; and I hope to update later, or tomorrow morning. Chow. -Gabriela Casey XO

The husband took a breath as he made his way out of their bedroom this morning, still unsure as to just where his wife is; that was, until he heard her in the living room watching some TV with her laptop next to her. And that means one thing, Gabby decided to update her blog this morning before he woke up. And honestly, he was completely okay with that since he hasn't got a text yet from anybody complaining; he doesn't want to censor her too much, but he also doesn't want to make his friends mad. But that's a conversation for another day, because there is something that he still hasn't gotten this morning; and that's something that isn't acceptable. And just what might that be? Well, that would be his morning kiss. Walking up behind the couch this morning, Matt smiled as he moved his wife's hair out of the way of her neck before leaning over the back of the couch and leaving a kiss on her neck. Moaning as she felt that Gabby smirked. "Hi baby."

Matt smiled when he heard Gabby say that, moving to walk around the couch so that he can sit down with her this morning. "HI you. I'm surprised to see that you woke up before me, I was expecting you to be asleep longer than me; or at least wake me up, and kick me out of bed to make breakfast." Gabby agreed with Matt, smiling as she looked up at the man she loves. "Come here you, come sit with me." Matt nodded as he heard Gabby tell him that, proceeding to grab her laptop from the couch. "Did you already shut this off? Or do you want me to go plug it in?" Gabby smiled when Matt asked her whether she wants him to go plug it in. "No, it's ok. Just set it on the coffee table please." Matt agreed with Gabby when she asked him to set it down on the coffee table. Doing just that for his beautiful wife, Matt smiled as he looked at her. "So, do you need me to make breakfast before we head back to bed?" Gabby sighed. "Think we can sit here for a bit? Just change things up."

Matt nodded. "Let me guess, you need to stretch your back?" Gabby laughed. "You know me too well. I swear, I love cuddling up to you baby…but I need to find a better way." Matt agreed with Gabby when she told him that, smiling as he proceeded to move and sit down next to his beautiful wife. "Hold on a second baby, let me just move the blanket." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, watching as she moved the blanket that she had on top of her out of the way. Afterwards, Matt proceeded to sit down next to her; smirking as he sat down next to his beautiful wife, Matt kissed the side of her head and just smirked as they held each other close. "So, how are you feeling this morning?" Matt said as he pulled the blanket on top of the both of them, and bent down to kiss Gabby's shoulder softly. "I feel good. No nausea yet." Matt agreed when Gabby said that, smiling as he wrapped his arm around her back and just held her close to him.

Moving her hand to his, Gabby smiled as she stroked his hand and just held her close to him. She then laid her head down on her shoulder, smiling due to the fact that this was exactly how she wanted to start her morning right now. Running his hand down Gabby's back as they cuddled up to each other, Matt smiled due to the fact that he was also very happy; happy to be holding this beautiful woman whom he has to honor of calling his wife in his arms at the moment. "So, you want me to stay here? Or do you want me to go make breakfast?" Gabby laughed when Matt asked her whether she wants him to get up (right when he sat down), and go make them some breakfast. "No, you're going to sit your ass down…and stay here since you just sat down Mr. Casey." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, smiling as he bent down and proceeded to kiss her shoulder again. "So, you're feeling good? And you aren't tired anymore?" Gabby just turned her head. "No."

Matt looked at his wife when she said that. "No?" Gabby just stared into his eyes. "You have that look in your eyes, the look where you think that you're going to get something." Matt shook his head when he heard Gabby say that. "I'm not expecting anything, I promise baby." Gabby gave her husband a bit of side eye when he said that, not believing him. "Oh really? You don't want anything?" Matt shook his head. "That's not what I have planned to do today. Today is Black Friday, and I am going to be doing something special with you for our little girls." Gabby smiled when she heard Matt say that, well aware of exactly what he plans on doing. "Oh, and what might that thing be?" Matt smiled as he stroked her stomach, leaving a soft kiss on her cheek. "I plan on buying everything we need for our daughters today." Gabby smiled when she heard Matt say that. "So, it's official that we're having daughters? No more guessing what we're going to have?"

Matt shook his head when Gabby asked him if, from now on, they're going to just assume that you're going to have twin daughters. "Nope, I'm certain that we're going to have daughters. There's just something in my mind that keeps telling me that we're going to have daughters." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, smiling as she put her hand on his and just held her close. She then intertwined their fingers and smiled at him. "Is this the week we can find out the gender?" Gabby shook her head. "That's not for a couple more weeks, sorry baby." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, smiling as he left a kiss on the side of her head. "It's fine baby. I promise that we can wait as long as we need to so that we can find out the gender, then we can work on the nursery." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, laying her head down on his shoulder as she felt Matt put his hand on her stomach. "I swear, is it just me or have these little ones brought us closer?"

Gabby smiled as she turned her head. "I was just asking myself the same thing, if these beautiful children of ours have already brought us closer to one another." Matt smiled when he heard Gabby say that, glad that they were both thinking the same thing. "I'm glad we both feel that way, because I want to be close to you." Gabby nodded when Matt told her that, putting her hand on his before intertwining their fingers. She then proceeded to take another sip of her tea. "You'll let me know when you're done your tea okay baby? I'll go make us some pancakes or something." Gabby smiled. "Let's just keep it simple and have bagels okay baby?" Matt nodded. "Then how about I go make us some of those right now? It shouldn't take me long." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, smiling as she looked at the man she loves. She then leaned in, smiling as she kissed him softly. "Thanks baby." Matt agreed with his wife when she said that, getting up.

"We can stay here if you want today?" Gabby smiled. "We'll see okay. We can stay here until I'm comfortable. Now, can you go make us breakfast? I only ate cereal this morning." Matt bit his lip. "How long have you been awake baby?" Gabby sighed. "Maybe an hour." Matt shook his head when he heard Gabby tell him that she's been awake for an hour. "Baby, you should've woken me up and told me. Then, I would've come to make you breakfast." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, well aware of that fact. "I promise, I'll do it next time baby." Matt agreed with Gabby when he told her that, smiling as he went ahead and proceeded to walk away, going to make them some breakfast this morning. "By the way, I hate that you're not wearing boxers right now." Matt laughed when he heard Gabby say that. "Price of not being in bed when we both woke up baby, you had me scared." Gabby sighed. "Sorry.." Matt shook his head. "Don't be. I should've known."

Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, smiling at him. "I promise, I will try and stay in bed later." Matt smiled at the woman of his dreams as she told him that. "Yeah, we'll see when that happens. Listen, I recorded the Macy's Parade. You fell asleep in the middle of it yesterday. How about we do this…we can eat breakfast as we watch it here, then we can pause it and pick it up in bed? Or we can stay down here until we're done?" Gabby smiled. "We aren't having sex today, so we can just stay here okay?" Matt nodded. "That means no boxers then." Gabby took a breath. "Yeah, I think we need to calm down anyways; especially after all the drama yesterday." Gabby then teared up a bit, which got Matt concerned. "Hey, what's wrong baby? You okay?" Gabby took a breath and just sighed as she put her tea down. She then put her hands on her stomach. "Baby, what's wrong?" Matt then proceeded to make his way back over to Gabby, getting quite concerned.

Looking at Matt, Gabby just took a breath; not wanting to burden him with the bad dream that she had. However, she knew that he was going to press her until she told him what was going on. She then watched as Matt made his way back over to her this morning. Taking a breath, Matt proceeded to sit down close to Gabby on the couch; putting his hand next to her, Matt stared into Gabby's eyes. "Hey, what's wrong baby? You look troubled, baby tell me what's wrong." Gabby took a breath when her husband asked her that. "I had a bad dream before I woke up, that's the real reason that I'm out here." Matt nodded when he heard Gabby say that, putting his hand on her stomach. "Baby, do you want to share what the bad dream was about?" Gabby took a breath. "After everything that went on yesterday, I have been trying to stay calm to try and avoid…" Matt just looked at his girl when she said that, already thinking that he understands what she's trying to say.

"Baby, no. Do you think…" Gabby shook her head. "NO, that's not what I mean. Sorry baby, that's not it…" Matt then realized something. "Oh, you mean…" Gabby teared up, nodding as he realized just what her dream was about. She dreamed of them miscarrying their twins. Getting close to Gabby, Matt proceeded to hug her once again so that he could give the woman he loves some comfort. Comfort that she needs from him right now. Wrapping his arms around Gabby tight, Matt took a breath as he heard her cry. Matt then decided that they were not staying here right now, and that they could wait to have breakfast. Rather, he was going to pick Gabby up in his arms and carry her to bed. Wrapping her arms around Matt's neck, Gabby buried her head into the crook of his neck as she was still scared that it could still come true. "Matt, I'm…" Matt just ran his hands up and down her back, holding her close to him as he walked away to their room.

"No, not yet baby. Just take a breath and relax okay? Right now, I'm going to carry you to bed. When we're in bed, and only when we're in bed, will we talk about that." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, just cuddling up to her husband as he carried her back to bed this morning. "Can we stay in bed today?" Matt nodded. "Of course, baby. We can stay in bed. But you need breakfast. Let me just carry you to bed, and then I can go make you breakfast." Gabby agreed with Matt when he told her that, ready to have him walk into their room.

Matt's POV:
As I carried Gabby into our room this morning, I took a breath because I really hated the fact that she had this dream in the first place. She didn't deserve to have this dream, because she deserves to have happy dreams when she's pregnant. And today, that's what she's going to have…happy thoughts as we cuddle up to each other in bed. Continuing to run my hand up and down her back, I just took a breath while carrying the woman I love back to our bed. Afterwards, I went ahead and opened the covers to our bed and set my girl down in bed. Letting me go, Gabby took a breath as she laid down and looked at me. Afterwards, I put my hand out. "You okay?" Gabby, tugging on my arm, motioned for me to join her in bed this morning. I then went ahead and did just that this morning, ready to hold my girl in my arms. Sitting down next to her in bed, I wrapped my arm around her and just held her close to me. Afterwards, Gabby cuddled up to me this morning.

Wrapping her arms around my torso, Gabby laid her head down on my heart while I grabbed the covers and tugged them up on top of the both of us; and let's just say that it was exactly what she wanted. She wants me to give her comfort right now. Wrapping my arm around her back, I made sure that the woman of my dreams stayed close to me and just took a breath. "Sorry about…" I shook my head while kissing Gabby softly. "No apologies, just cuddles. Baby, it's all okay. We're both okay because we're here, together in bed." Gabby agreed with me when I said that. "We're all okay, including our twins. We're all okay baby." Gabby agreed with me when I said that. "Want to do some breathing?" Gabby nodded. "Yes please." I agreed with her while running my hand up and down her back, taking a breath. "I love you baby." Gabby agreed with me when I said that. "I love you too Matt, thanks for doing this." I nodded, agreeing with. "Forever baby."

Gabby nodded, smiling as I went to grab the TV remote. "How about you turn the TV on? Just stay here as I make breakfast okay baby? How does that sound?" Gabby agreed with me when I said that. She then looked up at me, smiling as she leaned up and kissed me softly. At the same time, I kissed her too and just took things nice and slow with the woman of my dreams. "I love you." Gabby nodded when I said that. "I love you too. Now, go make breakfast." I laughed when Gabby said that, getting up out of bed once again. Afterwards, I went to grab the TV remote for Gabby and gave it to her. Grabbing it, Gabby smiled as she looked up at me. "I love you." I nodded as I closed the covers on top of her. Afterwards, I bent down and proceeded to kiss the woman of my dreams. "I love you too." Gabby nodded, smirking as she looked up at me. She then adjusted herself, getting comfortable as she went ahead and turned the TV on. At the same time, I left to go make breakfast.

At the same time, I could help but think about what Gabby told me. How she told me that she dreamed overnight that she had a miscarriage. Well, I hope that's the last time we need to think about that for a while. But for now, time for some pancakes. But first, I am going to check with Gabby; turning around, I smiled at her. "Pancakes?" Turning her head, Gabby smiled. "Yes please." I agreed with her, smirking as I walked out so that I could go make us some breakfast this morning.
