Chapter 10: First Mission part 2
California september 15th 2:13 pm, california state university
The group had made their way off of bioship to their next designation that they tracked that being California university. It was a large campus from the design of it but it seemed no one was here right now. As the school seemed out of session at the moment with a few people on its campus as robin stared out the window for a moment nodding
"So it seems our little visit here won't be too bad. It's not that busy"robin commented as m'gann piloted the ship with kid flash nodding
"Heck yeah it'll be easy sailing from here on out then"he said as a few of them eyed him for that as he looked a little confused
"What did i do?"he asked as artemis sighed leaning back in her chair
"You probably jinxed us…let's get this over with so we can enjoy a nice day off. Deadshot will be an easy first mission"artemis mentioned peeking delilah interest slightly
"So how easy will this mission be? Because it he just some hired gun"She asked again
"No try more like a grade A assassin. He's the best marksman around heck he even tried to go for supes i heard one time. With kryptonite bullets' 'robin explained to her shock that someone could try and kill the man of steel even.
As their bioship kept descending its altitude they soon landed on a rooftop. Once off they followed kaldur who seemed to know where he was going right now as they followed him through the doors and the hall of the college campus
While they walked through the halls of the school soon enough they came upon a college lecture hall. As down below was one person who was a man who had fair skin with graying hair as he seemed in his late forties with brown in the middle. While he wore a simple pair of black dress pants and a white button up long sleeve shirt underneath a maroon vest. He had blue eyes with him sporting a pair of green reading glasses.
As he was busy stacking some papers right now placing them in a suitcase as he heard the door open not bothering to look up
"Class is closed today because we are on a spring break trip. Mainly because of the school losing power for a week"he said
"Dr. kyte it is me aqualad. We are here to assist you"aqualad stated as the man looked up surprised as he quickly closed his briefcase stepping forward as he approached them in relief
"Ah kaldur it's nice to see you, my boy. i take it your here for henry disappearance alongside his family"The doctor asked as m'gann nodded
"We are and you're ... .dylan kyte. Your a world renowned marine biologist whos been against a oil company as a of late for polluting the sea floor"m'gann noted as the man laughed a little at the martian knowledge
"Indeed i am.i take it your here to see about finding the source of my partner disappearance"dylan asked
"We are and maybe if you can tell us what is on here"Robin said, presenting the flash drive as Dylan looked surprised. Quickly taking it he pulled a laptop out plugging it in as he did he typed on it for a bit before pulling up its files.
Turning his laptop around he showed them what was on it. That being filed on a big oil company that has been making an oil rig near the borders of atlantis. But there were also several files and reports on how it's affecting marine life and atalian life. There was also a picture of the boss of the entire oil rig.
That being a chubby man who had slightly tanned skin with him having a bald shiny head. As he was in a purple maroonish suit and tie with him sporting a decorative cane as he also seemed in his late fifties as artemis gagged a little on seeing him
"Let me guess this guy right here is our mysterious oil tycoon"she questioned
"Lewis hayley. A well known oil tycoon who has supported thousands with the use of his oil rigs and provides jobs to several people. But is suspected of crossing certain guidelines for his precious oil rigs"kid flash read as he crossed his arms snapping his fingers
"Let me guess this stuff is to prove he's guilty"he added
"It was the evidence he was supposed to deliver me. This will help us put a stop to the man and his oil rig here"he said making kaldur smile
Though unknown to them there was someone spotting themselves on a tree right now. As they did they slowly set their sights in on the professor with a laser sight appearing. As the doctor was gathering some things superboy heard a small faint sound of something rustling
Then he looked at the professor seeing a laser dot on him as he acted quickly
"Get down!'' Conner shouted, diving into the man out of the way. As a silent gunshot went off going through the window shattering it as Dylan and the kryptonian looked at the spot he was originally at seeing a smoking bullet hole.
Immediately kaldur drew out his waterbearer into the shape of a mace as him and kid flash ran out to fight their attacker. As they saw someone already boarding a helicopter as kaldur motioned toward it
"Kid flash follow it!"he ordered
"On it aqualad!"he shouted before planting his feet before zooming off after the helicopter right now.
As the speedster followed they quickly boarded the bioship as m'gann activated its cloaking feature. With them chasing after the aircraft with Wally chasing it down speeding after it. As he did the doors opened with them sliding opened as deadshot was the culprit as he pulled out his sniper with him taking aim
Slowly the man took aim at the speedster but he slowly adjusted his aim. As he did his mask told him the distance as he moved it ahead of the boy. Firing off a shot his sniper created a loud muzzle flash as the bullet went soaring. The bullet went flying into the ground as it created a small crater
Not seeing this, Wally hit the crater with his foot as it made him fall forward rolling onto the ground hard. As this happened he looked up seeing the helicopter getting away as the bioship landed close by decloaking as robin ran out with artemis helping him up
"You good KF"robin asked
"I'm good ... .guess we might have lost them"kid flash said as artemis eyed the helicopter still as she drew her bow out. Reaching back she pulled out an arrow from her quiver
Notching the arrow back she slowly adjusted her aim for a moment before she closed her eyes. Releasing the string on the bow she fired off an arrow that went soaring through the skies. As it soared it impeded itself into the helicopter as she smiled with it flying away
Once it did she presented a device showing a small dot that was moving
"We got a beat on its location, come on"She said as they quickly reboarded the bioship.
West harbor california 5:04pm
It was a few hours after following the helicopter cloaked in bioship. As the time flew by leading to night time which was the best for them as they slowly found the helicopter landing at some warehouse and harbor like area. As it did dylan was with them adjusting his gaze on the marvels of this ship
"I feel honored to be in this marvelous vessel but are we sure my colleague is here"dylan questioned
"No clue. All we can do is scout the area right now and see what we have to work with"Robin replied as kaldur stood up
"Go into stealth mode"he ordered pressing his symbol as his entire outfit shifted from gray for the top and navy blue for the bottom. With kid flash pressing the symbol on his as it changed into dark gray all over for his suit keeping the white for his symbol. Robin did the same as he changed to dark gray and light throughout his suit. With artemis suit changing into a full black color as m'gann and conner didn't changed
Delilah looked confused for a moment as she scratched her head
"So ummm where's mine"she asked
"Right you don't have stealth tech yet….but it should be fine you look good in that"kid flash said making her stare at him right now as kaldur stepped forward
"Let's move"he said as they all agreed piling out of the martina ship right now
All of them piled out of it as they moved out of it with m'gann throwing her hood up turning invisible. As she flew ahead with them standing on the sidelines for any sign of trouble right now.
With the martian she moved through the harbor right now seeing something. Several armed thugs in the harbor all armed to the teeth. But the one thing that stuck out was the assassin they were following with deadshot walking into a foreman building from the looks of it
As m'gann phazed through the building she saw who they were looking for right now. As Henry was strapped to a chair with Maria and Lily close by sitting on a couch in fear. As Henry looked roughed up with his cheek having a big bruise on it with his lip busted and his nose having dried blood there. But two other caught her eyes right now
The first being a young caucasian woman with short red hair and green eyes. The right half of her head is bald and adorned with a black cobra tattoo. She uses blue lipstick and wears several earrings. While she wore a sleek black pair of pants and blue top with a long black glove connected to her shoulders.
But another caught her eyes that being a man who had skin that was greenish brown in color with red hair. His teeth seemed more canine like fangs than normal teeth. But his body seemed to be split open in places exposing his corded muscle fibers underneath. He wore a pair of black shorts with a very muscular and monstrosity appearance to him
M'gann watched as the doors opened with the women staring at him with a confused look
"Right i got stuck with the two siblings that can't really speak well….shimmer and mammoth everyone"Deadshot joked as mammoth growled at him with shimmer putting a hand up doing something
"I can't speak since my voice box never developed. But…how was your mission to the school"She signed as she seemed to be unable to speak but could communicate
"Big problem we ran into some super kiddos some you two may recognize from santa prisca"deadshot replied making them surprised as mammoth growled in rage hearing that right now with shimmer putting a hand up stopping him
But another voice in the room soon spoke up laughing
"So what a few superpowered fools. Good luck because i got insurance right now"lewis said stepping forward from the shadows as henry growled at him
"You bastard! You want to ruin the lives of all those beautiful sea creatures and the Italians for what?! Money!"he shouted as lewis laughed walking forward
Slowly he walked forward jabbing his cane into the man chest knocking the wind out of him as he laughed
"My employers have told me to keep you from disrupting my business. Now tell me where the evidence is…because i know your friend and others have it where is it''he questioned as henry spat in his face
Lewis whipped it off laughing as he whistled with mammoth walking over tearing lily from her mother grasp as she screamed for her mother
"Get away from my daughter"maria cried but shimmer backhanded her to the ground as lewis laughed with a smile on his face
"Now mammoth be a dear and teach the doctor a lesson for not showing me what i want….feed her to the sharks"he ordered as mammoth took the screaming girl out of the room as deadshot eyed him for that
"The deal was we don't hurt the kid. You know how i work"deadshot warned
"You do what your payed to do merc along with my own private security group."lewis said as miss martian seen enough right now
Back with the other they were scouting the place as wraith was very nervous seeing all the guys with guns right now which robin noticed
"Hey relax you'll do fine here"robin reassured
"How can you say that? There are several guys with guns if i mess up i'm dead meat"Wraith argued
"Hey you got powers, me and Artemis don't. Besides…not like we will run into any serious trouble"Robin said but soon a slight pain came into her head as the martian spoke through them
"I'm sending a mental image of who here and their from santa prisca"m'gann said as a flash went off showing the two siblings as it showed what mammoth was planning to do with the child as they all saw the normal world infront of them
"Mammoth and shimmer seems those two got out of jail or their prison transport"kaldur replied
Superboy growled smacking his fist"they're going to hurt a little girl…I'm going in"he said as they tried to stop him. But it was too late as he flexed his legs before jumping so high in the air he roared as he came crashing down into the sight below them
In the harbor right now the guards patrolled the area but immediately a shadow loomed over one. They were confused looking up in shock as superboy roared crashing down into the ground launching some of the guards away as they screamed
Some of them came at him firing their guns but he immediately roared leaping forward punching one back. As he then reeled his fist back punching another as the other watched with robin sighing rubbing his face
"Dang it SB guess where going loud"he said as he drew out a grappling launcher. As he aimed it forward, firing it off as it was embedded into a building as he zipped forward with the others running in as a kid flash grabbed Artemis and wraith by their shoulder zooming in. with kaldur using the zipline placing his water bears on it joining in the fight
As they were in robin detached from his zipline dropping himself onto a guard. As one noticed him aiming his rifle shooting at him. But the boy wonder was quicker running behind some crates as the guard came rushing in to execute him
But as he did he pointed his rifle seeing no one there as a childish laugh was heard. Then from behind robin kicked him in the back knocking him to the ground as he groaned with him eyeing the building where the doctor and his wife were. With kaldur dropping down
As he did a swarm of bullets came at him though thinking quickly on his feet. Kaldur summoned a pair of water serpents as his tattoos glowed. Pointing his waterbearer forward they came at the criminals knocking them into the harbor below as they screamed from that action with him and robin getting close to one another
"What's the plan oh gracious leader"robin mocked a little as he eyed him
"For now we rescue the doctor and his wife. Kid flash you go for the girl"he said through their mind link
"Roger dodger buddy dropping off the ladies for their night on the town"kid flash thought as a goran was heard
"God is he always like this"wraith thought their mindlink
As the two ran up to the building the hostage was in. immediately robin fired a grappling hook up as he scaled the building rooftop. With an aqualad heading to the door but as he got their gunfire came from the doorway shattering and splintering the wood.
Getting behind cover he saw that shimmer was there holding an assault rifle smiling. As she reloaded the magazine with a click being heard. As she began to fire at the atalian to try and kill him as lewis growled in rage with him pointing a pistol at the doorway
"Kill them you idiot! I payed you good money for kobra to use you for this operation!"lewis shouted but as shimmer kept firing she ditched her assault rifle running in as kaldur slipped into the doorway
Once he did she leaped forward and spun kicking her leg forward hitting him in the side of the skull. As that happened kaldur swiftly dodged another hit before switching to a water mace with his weapon. As shimmer came at him again he reeled his mace back launching it forward into the woman's gut.
This sent shimmer flying into a wall hard as she groaned a little laying on the ground. With lewis looking at him as he held a gun to henry face as the man was in fear
"Back off or I will blow his damn brains out!"he shouted but kaldur looked up at the window above as from above it got smashed open. As someone landed on the big fat cat that being robin who smiled as he twirled his bo staff
"Nah i got a better idea…how about i give you concussion"he said as the two quickly helped the hostage here
Elsewhere right now was superboy who was fighting his way through the hired muscle right now. With him throwing a punch forward launching one into a crate smashing it wide open as a groaning noise was heard knocking them out
With several more aiming their weapon at him but in a blinding zoom kid flash took the rifles. As the guards looked over seeing him holding the disassembled weapons with him clapping his hands toward them right now with a smile on his face
"Brave-ho my muscle friend now let's take these guys out"he said, zooming forward, punching and knocking out all of the thugs which left the girl to rescue.
The two saw a mammoth staring at them holding the girl in his hands as he smiled. With him holding Lily over the edge who was crying a little right now in fear as she kicked and screamed for her life. With superboy growling right now smashing his fist together
"Fight us without using a hostage"he shouted as the brute stared at him grinning before tossing the girl into a bay. Lily screamed in fear as thinking on his feet wally used his super speed
Immediately he zoomed forward as he sped into the way catching the little girl who closed her eyes. As he quickly took her too land as lily looked up teary eyed seeing the warming smile of kid flash who smiled at her
"I got you kiddio besides stick with me and you can meet your favorite superhero wonder woman"he said to make her feel safe as lily hugged him for safety right now
With mammoth growling as he leaped forward smashing his fist toward them. But wally sped away dodging it as the brute growled but was met by a fist to the jaw curiosity of superboy. This made the brute move slightly as the monster growled, punching him back in the gut. It caused superboy to growl right now as he swung harder into the creature gut
This stunned him as the monster stumbled a little as thinking of something he eyed a nearby forklift. Superboy leaped over, placing his hands underneath it, lifting it up with both hands. The kryptoinia screamed as he smashed the machinery into the beast which seemed to deal some damage
As it sent the mammoth flying into a wall hard as he slumped over and knocked out. With the superboy slamming the forklift against him pinning his body with the spikes of the machine in the concrete wall he was against trapping him
Elsewhere was artemis and wraith right now as artemis drew out an arrow firing one into a thug knocking them to the ground. Before quickly drawing out another, firing it into three of them. Once it made impact it expanded to create a foam like barrier trapping them in place right now as she was having an easy time with this.
But elsewhere was wraith as she was struggling to fight one thug. As they kept swinging at her with a metal bat swinging hard into her side making her grunt in pain feeling something break. With the thug laughing lifting the bat up toward her
"Time for you to go down whoever you are"they said as they lifted the bat up but having enough of this delilah growled picking herself up cocking her fist back
"The names wraith!''she shouted, throwing a punch upward, knocking the lights out of them. As they fell to the ground to her surprise as she smiled under her mask which flicked on the eyes a little displaying a smile emoticon.
"Hey nice job their wraith now time for the real deal"artemis said as wraith eyed a few thugs infront of her. As she channeled into her powers right now slowly as the haze surround her hands before she aimed her hands
Focusing on her training she focused a condense shot from her hands. As suddenly from both her hands two bright hazy beams fired out hitting the thugs into a wall knocking them to the ground as they groaned with her cheering right now
"This is awesome!''she cheered but her celebration was interrupted as a loud gunshot rang out hitting her in the leg. This made her grunt in complete pain right now as artemis dived over tackling her behind some cover
As on a nearby watchtower was deadshot who pulled the hammer back exiting out the spent shell. With him taking aim again as he focused on the shot with him calculating the trajectory of his shot. Firing off another shot it hit some of artemis arrows as she growled at that
"I forgot how good of a shot he is"artemis said as deliah grunted holding her leg
"He shot me in my leg! Ohhhh this hurts so much!"she cried in pain as artemis got to her friend studying the wound seeing it went through
"Bullet went through we can get medical aid for you"artemis said as they tried to come up with a plan to fight their marksmen
Though as the marksmen was there he started to count out his targets. He saw the italian and boy wonder along with that superman knockout and the speedster. But their was one missing right now as he had two pinned down
"Where that green girl"he questioned aloud to himself as someone giggled
"Right here"m'gann said, startling him as she grabbed his head using her mind link to knock him out. As the assassin groaned dropping his rifle as his helmet slipped off as he groaned passing out as she looked up signaling the others with her mindlink
"I got deadshot he's done for the count"m'gann said through their mindlink
"We got the big ugly and the docs kid safe and sound right now"kid flash said as they had a job well done right now with him eyeing the mask taking it for their souvenir collection.
After a half hour the police arrived along with Aquaman and Revenant who was wearing a full mask of an Aztec style mask colored black with white lining it as the eyes glowed on it. With dylan seeing his friend okay as henry was hugging his daughter happy she was safe
"Your safe old friend….i hope that incident wasn't too much for you"he said
"It was but…i'm happy that i have high in well low places of the sea"henry said as aquaman laughed
"Indeed we do, my friend. With your evidence and help we can put that man away for a long time."Aquaman said but walking over with a frown on his face was Batman who approached them.
"It seems that the rookie's first mission was a success.. You all managed to capture mammoth, shimmer and deadshot...but their were mistakes''he said eyeing superboy who crossed his arms but the man said something else
"But otherwise good job you saved the hostages lives and had some slight accidents"he said as deliah held her leg that was bandaged with revanth laughing as he helped carry her to the bioship for a job well done
"Heyya kiddio nice job you passed your first mission on becoming a superhero"revenant said but henry eyed the pair as he questioned them
"And who is this? I know of you but i've never seen her before are you his sidekick"he asked as she grumbled at that but revenant corrected him
"Sidekick? No…no…she's my partner and the new student I'm teaching meet...well wraith and relevance the new dynamic duo"he said as Delilah mask showed a happy emoticon with her smiling underheat as the jaw did with her now starting her superhero career in life wondering what will be next.
It seems that her first mission with the team was a success. Also if you've seen what i've done with shimmer she gets speaking lines...oh my god! I have no idea why she never talks but making her mute is interesting to work with. Thanks for reading!
