Wow. Here we are, Chapter Seventy-Five. Little did I know that, when I published this story almost three weeks ago now; that we'd be here, in this situation w here I am currently at over 300K words and writing the seventy-fifth chapter to my story. I hope you guys have really been enjoying this journey with me, including all of the ups and down that I've taken you on. Now, I wanted to let you know that I just re-wrote the latest dream chapter (chapter seventy-two) if you guys want to read the updated dream; I did add a bunch to the chapter, and I made it much longer than before. But now, let's get to me actually writing a chapter that moves our current story (rather than dreams) along in the current timeline. Enjoy readers.
Chapter Seventy-Five
"I Want to Plan a Real Wedding" – Gabriela Casey
After hearing Gabby mention how, she wants to have a real wedding, Matt smiled as he knew exactly what she meant by that; and he couldn't help but actually smile at the sound of them having a real wedding. It sounds absolutely perfect due to the fact that they never really had a real wedding, nor did they have a wedding reception. They never had the whole works, nor did they ever have a first dance, a first look, and she never got a chance to wear a wedding dress. He just wish that they would've been together much sooner than they originally had, as there were some people that they both know that they would've wanted to be there; and not just as guests, but as members of their wedding party. More specifically, Shay and Andy; their best friends, who would've been their maid of honor and best man respectfully. And that's something that they both are already well aware that they are never going to experience, as they weren't together when they should've been.
Matt now knows, as much as he hates to think it, that he should've never been with Hallie; rather, Gabby was always the woman that he should've been with…and maybe it would've led to them getting married sooner, before their best friends died in some horrible tragedies that have affected the both of them in incredible ways; yet, it's also brought them closer as they both know what it's like to go on in life without your best friend…and that's something that they can both help each other out with, and they do help each other out with each and every day; especially when it comes to the fact that Matt has a new best friend, and that's not Severide. Rather, his new best friend is his wife; and that will always be the case, as Gabby is the love of his life. But that was not what Matt should be thinking about right now. Rather, he needs to be thinking about what Gabby just told him, how she wants to have a real wedding. And the truth was, that was really appealing to Matt too.
He wants to have the whole works for the both of them, as it's something that they both deserve; they both deserve to have a special day that they can remember for their entire lives, with a bunch of pictures of his beautiful wife wearing a big beautiful white dress…and Matt wearing the most handsome tux that he's ever worn, which is something that he's never done. However, if they start a business together…then they are definitely going to have to get used to, as they are going to need to dress up whenever they have business meetings. But once again, that's not what Matt needs to think about; he needs to think about the topic that he and Gabby both want to talk about right now, which is how Gabby wants to plan a real wedding for the both of them. "God, you hate the idea. You know what, just forget that…." Matt just stopped her when she started to say that. "Hey, don't you dare think that way baby, that's not at all what I'm thinking about right now."
Gabby just looked at Matt when he told her that he wasn't thinking that way, and she really believed him when he told her that; because she had no reason not to believe the man she loves, especially when they're talking about this. There's just a way that Matt's talking to her that makes her believe that he's actually thinking about the idea in a positive way, which is the way that Gabby hoped that Matt would think of the idea in the first place. Taking a breath, Gabby looked at Matt. "So, can I ask you whether you're thinking about this idea in a positive or negative light?" Matt smiled when Gabby asked him whether he's thinking about the idea that she just proposed to him in a positive or negative light, which he was doing in a positive light (of course); and that was due to the fact that he wants that for her, for them. He wants to have a wedding with the woman of his dreams, a wedding where they can take pictures that they can show their twins someday.
Pictures that they can even show their grandchildren someday if they're blessed with some. But right now, they do not need to think about them having grandchildren (how about first they actually have their twins). Right now, they are going to go back to the topic that they were originally discussing; the fact that Matt wants to give Gabby a real wedding, a wedding that they can afford to go all out on. And that's what he wants to do for Gabby, he wants to give her the wedding of her dreams, which is what she deserves anyways, as she's the love of his life…and that's what the love of his life deserves. She deserves the have the wedding of her dreams, as they can afford it. "Gabby, I want you to have the wedding of your dreams. That's why I want to have a vow renewal. I want us to have a vow renewal that we can treat like our real wedding, a day that can't be ruined by bad memories." Gabby took a breath when Matt said that, well aware of what he means.
He's talking about the fact that their wedding night was ruined by Andre, when he came to talk to them; and then told them that he's Louie's dad, and that he wants him back. That was the worst part of their wedding day, and it's most of what she remembers of that day. And that's just something that they both hate, that they remember the worst part of the day rather than the beautiful vows that they exchanged with each other; which is the part of the day that Gabby should remember the most. "Do you want to lay down closer to each other?" Gabby agreed with Matt when he asked her if she wants to lay down closer to him, which she wants to do more than anything in the entire world; she needs to be comforted right now, as the memories still hurt her more than anything in the entire world. She always needs comfort when she thinks back to the fact that the best day of her life, later turned out to be one of the worst day of their lives as well; as they lost their second kid.
Taking a breath as she once again got close to Matt, she wrapped her arms around his torso while cuddling up to him and slipping her legs in between his; putting his hand on hers at the same time, Matt kissed Gabby's forehead softly while stroking her arm with his thumb as a way to give his beautiful wife some comfort. And let's just say that the comfort was welcome, as Gabby felt like she needed to be held by him right now; she always needed to be held like him when she felt this way, which was exactly what Matt's here for. He's here to hold his wife whenever she needs to be held, and he'll hold her each and every time; and he'll also kiss her forehead many times to make her feel extremely loved and respected by him. Plus, it also means that he gets a chance to put his hand on her stomach; which he loves doing regardless of the situation, as he wants to interact with their children right now in whatever way he can. If only they were kicking right now.
He can't exactly feel it (they say it starts more in the later part of the pregnancy), but that's fine with him as he'd rather they be growing as much as they can while they're in there; than have to feel them kick before they're ready to kick for their daddy. All he knows is that they're in there, and that they're going to be born in a couple of months; on the day that will be a day where he becomes a daddy permanently. And that's something that he and Gabby are both looking forward too more each and every day, as it's going to be the day that they (finally) get to meet the children that they have always been dreaming about. But right now, they were not dreaming about their children; rather, they were thinking about the son that they lost in the past. And Matt really hates this, just how much it truly hurts his wife to think back to this time in their lives. A time where they were a family with their son, even though they still are a family in every single way.
They are husband and wife, and that's the foundation of a family; meaning, that they are already a family…and are always going to be a family. But having kids, that's going to be even better since it's exactly what the couple want more than anything in the entire world. And now that they're so close to having kids again, they are just making sure that they do everything right; and that they don't do anything that can (possibly) put the pregnancy at risk. Rather, they are just playing it safe and taking it easy with each other at the moment (not that Matt's complaining). I mean, it means that he gets to cuddle up to the woman he loves a lot; and he gets to do it all day, and every day. And that's extremely comfortable, and another reason that he's grateful that he and Gabby are having the twins; because it gives the two of them a chance to just take it easy with each other, and to hold each other in their arms. Kissing her forehead, Matt smiled at his gorgeous wife.
"How are you feeling right now?" Gabby took a breath, before looking up at the man she loves. "I'm feeling better." Matt agreed with Gabby as she told him that she's feeling a bit better. "Just think of it this way Gabby, maybe us loosing Louie was faith; faith that led to us having these twins. One baby for each kid that we lost. We lost our first child, and we lost Louie; maybe this is God giving us back what we should've always had. I mean, I know that sounds crazy but…" Gabby shook her head when Matt told her that, moving her hand to his as she stroked it with her thumb. She then leaned up and smiled as she kissed the man of her dreams softly while continuing to lay down in his arms. "No, it's not crazy. Rather, it's the perfect way for us to look at this scenario; God is giving us the babies we lost back. We're going to get our Louie back with one of the twins, and our first baby back with the other twin." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby tell him that right now.
"I'm glad that you're taking it that way, because I was worried that you'd take that in a bad way." Gabby smiled, agreeing with Matt as he told her that; she then moved extremely close to him so that there was no space in between the both of them (which later led to Matt putting his hand on her stomach). Cuddling up to the woman he loves, Matt smiled as he bent down and proceeded to kiss her softly; after which, Gabby put her hand on Matt's neck and just smiled as they both took things nice and slow with each other. God, this is perfect…and there really isn't anything better than the feeling of the both of them holding each other as they relaxed in bed; especially when she's pregnant with their twins. The twins that we going to be the light of their lives in a matter of months. "I swear, the way you sweet talk me is incredible. It's going to make me want to have you." Matt smiled as he heard Gabby say that, before bending down and kissing her softly. "The way I should've had you on our wedding night." Gabby laughed as she heard Matt tell him that. "Oh, you wanted me on our wedding night; didn't you Matt?" Matt nodded. "Louie should've gone to Herrmann's place for a night."
Gabby nodded as she heard Matt tell her that, because she definitely could agree with that statement. I mean, she wanted him too. "But I would been distracted anyways." Matt agreed with Gabby, moving his hand to her neck before bending down and proceeding to kiss her softly. He then took things nice and slow with the woman of his dreams, it being exactly what the both of them wanted. "We could always do a do-over wedding night on our anniversary." Gabby smiled when Matt told her that, blushing. "I love that idea, after our vow renewal." Matt shook his head when Gabby asked him if he meant on the night of their vow renewal. "No, I mean on the night of our anniversary." Gabby looked up at Matt. "You mean like…in 5 days?" Matt smirked. "Yeah." He then proceeded to run his finger up and down her leg. "I can give you what I would've given you on the day of our wedding night." Gabby smiled at her husband. "I can wear a tight dress and lingerie."
Matt smirked as he got closer to Gabby, rolling her over onto her back before leaning over her. He then bent down, smirking as he felt her grab the back of his head. Afterward, he bent down and went ahead to kiss the woman he loves more than anything in the entire world; which is exactly what they both wanted him to do after all, as they are both hormonal and craving for each other. "I'll surprise you with some plans, because we can always do something at home if you aren't feeling good." Gabby smirked when Matt said that. "Or we can just do it at home from the start so that we can enjoy each other in bed." Matt nodded, kissing his beautiful wife softly; after which, Gabby moved closer to her husband and just smirked as they started to take things nice and slow with each other…which is exactly what they both wanted.
