Chapter Eighty-Six

They decided in the shower that they were going to calm things down in between the both of them for the sake of the twins, and for the sake of their guests. They didn't need to have their guests hear them moaning and groaning through the air vents, as they knew that was exactly what was going to happen if they continued to make love to each other in bed. But that didn't mean that the couple were ready to just go downstairs. (After all, Kelly and Stella were currently taking a nap in bed after an early morning). Rather, Matt and Gabby were just going to take it easy in bed with each other rather than go downstairs and do the same on the couch. But that was not the only thing that the couple were going to do. Rather, they were also going to start the process of doing another project that the couple have agreed to start doing over the holidays. And just what might that be? Well, Matt and Gabby have officially made up their minds and have decided to start a company.

Yes, you heard that right. Matt and Gabby are going to be starting a company, and that comes with a lot of work; and it will also come with a lot of decisions that they have to make. The first decision that they need to make? Well, that's what they're going to have their business is going to concentrate on. They were thinking of doing something to do with first responders, but there's a lot of people doing that. However, Gabby just has a feeling that Matt won't be able to resist trying to get a piece of the action; they're just going to have to find a way to stand out. Walking out of the washroom after doing her hair (and getting dressed), Gabby smiled at the sight of her loving husband sitting in bed with a plate of food for the both of them. More specifically, the chocolate chip pancakes that they are going to have together. Taking a bite from the plate of food, Matt just concentrated on his screen as he didn't want to get turned on by his wife once again.

In fact, it's why he decided to put a shirt on; they need to relax, especially after they were just caught by their friends. God knows if he was embarrassed by being caught by their friends, just how embarrassed he'll feel if his in-laws catch them. He is not going to take that chance, and is going to just take it easy with his wife from now on; well that, and they are really going to start this process that they're going to need to do if they want to make their dream a reality. If they want to start a company, they are going to need to figure out how to do it in Hawaii; and they are also going to have to figure out some of what they are doing. However, he had an idea as well. He knows one thing that he's thinking about, and it was something that Gabby brought up recently; how ambulances are not as functional anymore. They are just so tiny, yet they have to carry a lot. So, he's starting to think about what she said and whether they can try and fit more into a similar size.

He just has to figure out what they would need in an ambulance, and what he would need to do so that he can build ambulances. Then again, there has to be somebody that he can work with on that; maybe they can get into a partnership or something. At the same time, Matt does want to do something on his own and get independent of another company before he goes ahead and tries to join up with another company; that way, they can make more money from the fortune that they have already inherited prior to them having to give away some of the fortune that they make from the profits that they make in the company. Just taking a breath, Matt tried to scroll through some of the ideas that he already wrote down whenever he thought of something, but it just wasn't clicking at the moment. Rather, he had no idea what he was going to do even if they started a company. I mean, of course he's going to want to ask his wife to help him; but maybe Kelly?

He just saw it in his friend's eyes. He's trying to find a reason to stay here, to get away from Chicago; but just like him, it was his only home. And that's something that's hard to leave when it's all you've ever known. (He would know that better than anybody as that was something that he had trouble with as well). And it's not like he can just tell his friend that he wants to start a company, without having an idea and the basics. Something tells him that he needs to at least start with the basics before he can tell Severide to leave his job in Chicago, as they don't even know what they're doing. It's a lot to think about, and it's definitely on the husband's mind right now; so much so, that he didn't even notice that his wife came out of the shower until he heard her speak to him. "I can see that you have something on your mind." Turning his head, Matt smiled when he heard Gabby say that. "Yeah, I do." Gabby laughed as her husband said that, watching as he went ahead and grabbed some of the pancakes that they have for the both of them. "Finally, food. I'm starting to get hungry."

Turning his head, Matt smiled. "Yeah, your mom brought them up while you were finishing up in the shower. And let's just say that she came in the nick of time." Gabby was a bit confused when she heard her husband say that, not exactly sure what he means by that. "Okay, can you explain what exactly you mean by that?" Matt laughed, smiling at his beautiful wife. "I was putting my boxers on." Gabby agreed with Matt when he said that, smiling as she proceeded to get in bed with the man she loves; noticing that he was on his laptop, Gabby looked at him this morning. "So, what are you working on?" Matt took a breath when Gabby asked him what he's working on, as it's something that they've talked about; but they've yet to really think about it. I mean, they do need to figure out what they're going to do; but Matt feels a bit more pressured to do it since he has another reason why he wants to get it done. He then took a breath, going to take another bite of his breakfast. "Baby, didn't you hear what I asked you?" Matt then turned to look at Gabby, sighing when he said that.

"Sorry, no I didn't." Gabby looked at Matt when he said that. "So, are they going to stay in bed for a while?" Matt nodded when Gabby asked him whether they (they being Kelly and Stella) are going to be staying in bed for a while. "Yeah, they want to sleep and take it easy. They haven't exactly been able to take it easy since the death, and they feel like they just need to be alone." Gabby took a breath when her husband said that, moving to grab his hand as she felt like he needed the same thing. "You need the same thing, don't you baby?" Matt sighed, proceeding to get up out of bed before closing his laptop and going to set it down on his side table. "Sorry, just setting my laptop down." Gabby agreed with Matt when he told her that. "Just set it down, and then get back in bed baby. We can talk while we sit together." Matt agreed with Gabby when she said that, ready to do just that today as that's exactly what he thinks they need to do right now; just take it easy.

Matt's POV – Part One:
Climbing back into bed with Gabby shortly after putting my laptop down on my side table (and plugging it in), I smiled as I looked at my girl and got close to the center of the bed; that way, I can make sure that we can just concentrate on each other right now. "Okay, you have my whole attention now." Gabby laughed as I said that, going to grab her plate of pancakes that her mom made for the both of us, before setting it down in in her lap. "I'm not too sure that's the case, as I can see that you have other things on your mind as well baby." I took a breath when Gabby told me that. "Yeah, we do have stuff to talk about; don't we?" Gabby agreed with me when I said that, going to take a bite of her pancakes this morning. Grabbing my plate, I proceeded to do the same. "So, what's on your mind baby? I want to talk about it if you need to." I took a breath when Gabby told me that, as I do want to talk to her about it; I mean, I want her opinion about it. And, she can even help me since that means that she can talk to Stella, and see whether she would be open to it.

I mean, she's talking about trying to become a Lieutenant so that she can take over Truck 81 from Pelham. But, I highly doubt that she's just going to leave Severide's side when he's still hurt; and especially when he's the man that she loves. So, there's a lot going on there. Just taking a breath, I looked at Gabby. "I'm thinking about the company thing again." Gabby looked at me when I said that. "Do you want to work on that today?" I bit my lip when she asked me that, before taking a breath. "I feel like I have to." Gabby seemed a bit confused when I said that, looking into my eyes. "Okay, why do you say that you have to work on the company today?" I took a breath and looked at Gabby when she asked me that. "Complete honesty right?" Gabby agreed with me when I asked her that. "Yes, always baby." I took a breath. "Okay, just tell me if I'm crazy but…I feel like Kelly is like me a couple months ago, not knowing where he should be." Gabby smiled when I said that, before going to take another bite of her pancakes. "You're talking about in relation to where home is?"

I took a breath when she asked me that, going to reach for her hand. "My home will always be with you and our kids, that's just a fact. If we were in a shack here, I would still be a home." Gabby laughed when I said that. I then proceeded to lean over the tray of food that we have on the bed, kissing the woman of my dreams softly. "I love you." Gabby agreed with me when I told her that I love her. "I love you too baby." I nodded, agreeing with Gabby when she told me that, leaning back before going ahead with starting to eat some more. "By the way, that was the last of the sex that you're getting today. We need to really cut back now." Gabby agreed with me. "So, that's why you decided to get dressed?" I nodded when Gabby asked me that. "Yeah, because I want to work on this." Gabby nodded. "Oh, continue with what you were saying by the way baby." I agreed with Gabby when she told me that, proceeding to do just that. "I was just talking about Kelly."

Gabby agreed with me when I said that. "Yeah, you were talking about trying to get him away from Chicago?" I took a breath when Gabby asked me that. "I think he needs it Gabby, for the sake of his mental health. I mean, you remember how I was before I left there for good. It was full of bad memories for me. The abuse at the hands of my father, loosing Andy and Hallie, loosing our first baby and Louie; and almost loosing you multiple times." Gabby took a breath when I said that, well aware of just how much we've really gone through in Chicago. "We've really been put through the ringer there." I agreed with Gabby when she told me that. "And that's why I'm glad we got out when we did, as I am not sure what it would've done to us if we stayed…." I took a breath while looking at my girl. "Gabby, as much as I want to say that everything we did on the road trip would've solved everything for us, and that we would've been solid for the rest of our lives…"

Gabby then picked up where I left off. "You would always be on pins and needles as to whether our marriage would've really been able to survive in Chicago." I took a breath when I heard it be said out loud for the first time, proceeding to set my fork down. Afterwards, I reached over the table and grabbed Gabby's hand. "I'm sorry." Gabby shook her head when I said that. "Baby, don't be sorry. I want you to tell me the truth. I want to hear that truth from you because I want to know how you're feeling." I took a breath when I heard Gabby tell me that. "I just hate what it implies." Gabby nodded. "I know what you mean." I sighed. "I tried my best Gabby, I really did. I wanted to believe that we were strong to last in Chicago, but I just was starting to get worried. With everything that happened in the past year, it was why I felt like I had to run away with you. And for that, I need to apologize." Gabby seemed confused when I told her that I needed to apologize. "What?"

I could see that Gabby was confused when I told her that I need to apologize, which was understandable as I haven't done anything recently to require apologizing. However, this is something that I did months ago; and now, I am the biggest hypocrite. "I need to apologize, because I criticized you for having run away from our problems; and now, that's exactly what I ended up doing." Gabby agreed with me when I said that. "Baby, we had a reason this time; we both had them. Baby, my mom's home burned down; and the truth was, I needed it more than you did. I was scared too, because I was scared to lose the babies…and what that would've meant for our…." I just looked at Gabby when she said that, staring at her as I was shocked. "Listen, let's finish eating and then we can continue." Gabby agreed with me, nodding as we both went ahead and proceeded to finish eating breakfast before we went ahead and continued this conversation.

Matt's POV – Part Two:
Making my way back into me and Gabby's room this morning after bringing the plates downstairs, I took a breath as I went ahead and closed the door behind me; that way, we would have complete privacy as we continued this conversation; a conversation that was turning out to be hard for the both of us. I could see it on Gabby's face the minute I walked into our room, that she was already worried about how this conversation was going to go; and I really hated that, as I didn't want her to have to worry about that. But the truth was, I still have no idea either how this conversation is going to go. Right now, I just want to get in bed with my girl and hold her close to me; well that, and talk to her. Going to walk over to our bed, I Smiled at my girl before going to take off my sandals. "You glad that we finally had breakfast?" Gabby agreed with me when I asked her whether she was glad that we finally had breakfast. "Me and the kids needed it." I smiled, nodding.

"You also need to breathe for me and the babies." Gabby smiled when I told her that. "And I've been doing that the entire time." I smirked when I heard Gabby tell me that, as I was really happy that was the case. "Good, I'm glad that's the case baby." Gabby nodded, smiling at me as I got close to her in bed. Just slipping nice and close to my girl, I smiled as I truly am quite happy with my beautiful wife. Rather than being worried right now, she's happy and just knows that everything will be okay at the end of the day, and I'm glad that's the case. Gabby really has no reason to worry about that, as we will always be okay at the end of the day. She's the love of my life, and I don't want her to ever feel like she has to worry about the stability of our marriage. Just getting close to her in bed, I smiled as I put my hand out so that Gabby could grab it. Going to do just that, Gabby smiled as she intertwined our fingers and looked at me this morning. "Hello my handsome husband."

Smirking as I moved my hand to her neck, I proceeded to kiss her softly. Taking things nice and slow with her, I smiled as this really is perfect. "Hello my beautiful wife." Gabby smirked as I told her that. Putting her hand on my arm, Gabby smiled as she got nice and close to me, wanting to cuddle up to me as we talk about these hard topics. Moving my hand to her stomach once she did that, I smiled as I looked down into her eyes and then stroked her stomach with my thumb. Just staring at my gorgeous wife, I smirked as she really is such a beautiful woman. And god, I just love her so much. Bending down, I smirked as I kissed her softly. "Did I ever tell you that you're the love of my life?" Gabby smiled when I called her the love of my life. "Of course I know that baby." I agreed with Gabby when she told me that, smiling at my girl. "And these babies will never take your place too." Gabby laughed, agreeing with me as she put her hand on mine this morning.

"OK, so are we going to talk about that now?" I nodded, agreeing with Gabby when she asked me if we're going to keep talking about the topic that we were just talking about; and as much as I didn't want to (as it was a bit stressful), I knew that we needed to talk about since it was on Gabby's mind now. If we didn't talk about it, then it was going to stay on Gabby's mind all day; which is definitely something that I don't want for my girl or our boys. "So listen, promise me that you breathe the entire time?" Gabby agreed with me when I asked her to promise me that she's going to breathe. "I promise baby, I'm going to breathe." I smiled when I heard Gabby say that, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear before leaning in and kissing her softly. "So, we were talking about how I did the same as you." Gabby agreed with me when I said that. "I think this is different thought baby." I was a bit confused when I heard Gabby tell me that. "And how's that Gabby?"

Gabby smiled. "We ran away together, I ran away alone." I agreed with Gabby when she told me that, smiling when she told me that. "I hope you know that I'd gladly run away with you every single day for the rest of my life, as I can't live without you anymore." Gabby agreed with me when I said that, smiling as she got even closer to me and slipped her legs in between mine. She then put her hand on my chest and smiled as she looked up into my eyes. Putting my hand on her arm, I smiled as I bent down and proceeded to kiss my beautiful wife softly. And to say that I love it when we share a nice kiss is an understatement, as I truly believe that Gabby is the love of my life. There's nobody else for me, and I am just so proud to call her mine. "I love you." Gabby agreed with me when I told her that, smiling at me. "I love you too. And I also love our new life that we have." I smiled, agreeing with Gabby when she told me that. "Me too. And this is where we need to be."

I then took a breath. "We have so many bad memories in Chicago baby, that it just didn't feel like home anymore. If anything, it felt like hell as we were always reminded of everything bad that happened." Gabby agreed with me when I said that, smiling at me. "But listen, can we talk about the whole…" I took a breath, agreeing with Gabby. "How you were worried about losing the babies…and what that would've done for our marriage?" Gabby looked down. "Just hearing you say it breaks my heart. Baby, I hate that I was worried about that; I really…" Putting my hand on Gabby's neck, I bent down and proceeded to kiss her as a way to make sure that she calmed down for me. That's what she needs to do right now after all. She's so worried, and that's not good for the babies. She really just needs to take it down a notch and relax. "Baby, it's all okay. I promise, and I'm right here." Gabby agreed with me, taking a breath as she grabbed my hand. Afterwards, we both intertwined our fingers with each other's. And that was such a nice feeling, and extremely calming.

Bringing her hand up to my lips, I smiled as I kissed it while just holding the woman of my dreams close to me. God, she is so damn sexy; and I love her more each and every day. "God, I love you so much; and I am so glad that you're my wife." Gabby agreed with me when I told her that, smiling as she felt the same way. "I feel the same way." I agreed with Gabby when she told me that, smiling as I was really happy that was the case. "So listen, we're going to talk about this now. Baby, we're in a better place now because we're together. But when it comes to the babies, I want you to hear me out." Gabby agreed with me. "If you thought that I would leave you because you lost the babies, then you'd be crazy; because honey, you're stuck with me for the rest of your life whether you have the babies or not." Gabby laughed as I said that, agreeing with me; quite happy that was the case. "I swear, I love it when you make me laugh." I agreed with Gabby when she told me that.

"And I love it when you smile at me, because that's what I want to see from my wife; the woman whom I want to share my life with for the rest of my life." Gabby agreed with me when I said that, smiling at me. "And you're the only woman I want to have by my side as we start a business together." Gabby agreed with me when I said that, smiling. "Maybe I can even start a clothing line? I have always like to sketch clothing." I smiled when she asked me that. "Casey Apparel or Clothing…I like it." Gabby bit her lip when I asked her that. "Maybe, Dawson Apparel or Clothing instead?" I was a bit shocked when I heard that. "You want to use your maiden name for your clothing line?"
