Chapter One Hundred and Two: Ringing in 2019
Part Two: A Mini-Negotiating Session

He decided to take the freeway downtown as he wanted to make sure that they got there as fast as they could, rather than have to wait in all the local traffic that led from their home to downtown. There was just something about the way that people drove that made him crazy, so he tried his best to stay away from the local traffic; instead, Matt took the freeway which was always fun. The way that the Tesla can still go as fast as a normal car, still surprises him; and that's why he wanted to get this type of car. He wanted to make sure that they had the ability to drive just as fast as the rest of the traffic, and that was something that he could easily do in this car; which was great. "I swear, there's nothing like driving just as fast as the rest of the traffic when you're driving an electric car." Kelly agreed with his best friend when he said that, smiling. "I wish I knew, but my best friend seems not to trust me to drive his car." Gabby laughed when she heard Kelly say that.

Afterwards, she decided to turn her head to look at him. "It's also because I like to hold my husband's hand when we're in the car. Since I ALWAYS sit in the front, that means that he needs to sit in the front too Mr. Severide." Kelly agreed with Gabby when she said that, deciding not to argue with the pregnant woman; after all, he could clearly see that her attitude was much more present whenever they were all together. Oh, and that was just more amped up due to the fact that she was pregnant. "So, are you guys still happy to have us living with you? Or are we starting to overstay our limit." Matt just snickered when he heard his best friend say that. "Yeah, you never have to ask us that question. Believe me when I say that." Stella was confused when she heard Matt say that, as he was unsure as to just why that was the case. "Okay, why exactly would that be the case?" Matt then looked up in the mirror, turning his eyes to look at Stella this evening.

"I think that we both know why you're going to be over all the time." Stella just shook her head when Matt said that. "How about you just say it Matt? Because right now, we're on friend mode right now." Gabby snickered. "Honey, believe me when I say this; you have no need to worry about you ever being fired by Matt, I can promise you that." Matt was a bit confused when he heard Gabby say that. "Do you mind clarifying what you mean by that Ms. Casey?" Gabby smiled. "Oh, it's because Stella isn't going to be an employee of Casey, Inc." Yes, that's the name that they settled on for the company that they are going to be building in the new year. The name of Matt's company is going to be "Casey, Inc." as it was available, which was perfect since Matt was really hoping to use that name for the company. "Ok, I don't get that. Who is she going to be working for then?" Gabby smiled. "She's going to be working for ELLA Apparel, the subsidiary company."

Gabby then went to clarify something, while putting some emphasis on certain words (which are going to be in capitals). "Which YOUR WIFE is going to be the DEPUTY CEO of. That means that if you make the DEPUTY CEO of ELLA Apparel mad, then you are also making YOUR WIFE AND LOVER mad; and that means that you might put YOUR SEX at risk if you make her mad, especially when it starts to get harder the further she gets into her pregnancy." Stella just started to laugh when she heard Gabby say that, well aware of just what she was trying to say to her husband; I mean, it's quite obvious. "You know Gabby, you could also make me a shareholder in ELLA Apparel; which means that I am going to be much harder to get fired." Matt just looked at her when she said that. "Maybe we can put that in your employment contract that you are going to need to sign in the new year." Kelly was confused when Matt said that they are going to have employment contracts.

"Sorry, employment contracts?" Matt agreed with Kelly when he said that. "I've been thinking about it, and maybe we can pay you in the form of stock and living expenses; but for legal purposes, I need you to sign a contract so that it's not seen as slavery in the eyes of the law." Kelly and Stella then turned to look at each other, a bit shocked that he would say it that way. "Okay, care to share?" Matt took a breath when he heard his best friends ask him that, not really hoping to do business this New Year's Eve; especially not when this is his last one where he's free to go out. Taking a breath, Matt went to clarify something. "When we get to the restaurant, we are not talking about this. This is me and Gabby's last New Year's Eve where we can go out with you guys." Gabby smiled when Matt said that, well aware that was the truth. "God, I am so glad that's the case." Matt agreed with his wife when she said that, smiling as he felt the same way about that fact.

He then smiled as he turned to look at his wife. "So, let's just get this done." Kelly agreed. "So, employment contracts?"

Matt's POV:
Taking a breath when the couple brought up employment contracts, I proceeded to tell them just what was going on. "I've been reading about this, and I just need to do it for safety. First of all, there would be a confidentiality agreement. Guys, I love you but…me and Kelly are going to have fights sometimes, and I just need to cover my ass." Gabby agreed with me when I said that, nodding. "Yeah, that makes sense." I then smiled at the both of them. "Also, I've been waiting to bring this up; because I don't want to make you guys worry. But I was thinking. I know that I have money, and that I don't need to worry about profitability. But I'm just thinking about salaries, and how we can structure that. We need to negotiate that before anything, as we need to know. Are you guys going to want to be paid a salary, or can we do something else?" Kelly just looked at me when I said that. "What would the other option be rather than salary? Or why would we not be paid."

I sighed. "Like I said. We can just keep the money in the business for the first year, and not worry about having to pay like weekly or bi-weekly salaries. We can negotiate that later. But I was thinking, that we could also do a stock option; or we can pay you whenever we make money or something. That's just something that I think. And of course, that's where the contract comes in." Gabby agreed with me, understanding what I'm thinking about. "This what you're reading about?" I nodded, agreeing with me wife. "I just want to get this all-in writing, in black and white what we agree to. Like, whether we pay you with housing, and then you get profits when we make money. Or do you want salary. We can talk about that all another time of course, because that's fine. However, I do just want to think about it; as there are somethings that we need to think about. So, either you get a salary; or you get a stock option with living expenses at our place for a while."

I took a breath (again). "Or something else. I need to do more research about that, but there's a bunch of other things. Another thing that would be in the contract, is a confidentiality agreement and a non-compete agreement. I don't know much about that, and I need to go to a lawyer. I need to do that first. I know, I just have a lot on my mind. I know this is a lot, but I just can't guarantee money until at least we incorporate, because there's…." Gabby then went to grab my hand and looked at me. "Hey, take a breath baby…and concentrate on me." I agreed with Gabby, proceeding to do just that. "Baby, you can worry about this another time. Right now, we're out having fun with our friends; and that's what matters right now. Please, just take it easy and relax. I think I can speak for us all, that we understand; and I can say that we can talk about this." Stella agreed with me when Gabby said that, deciding to give me some reassurance right now.

"And for what it's worth Matt, I understand what you're saying; and it makes sense as to what you want to do. So, I like what you're thinking; and I promise that we're going to talk about this. We're going to talk about this, when we do the incorporation and legal work together. I know that we aren't done that. I think that I can see that we're going to need to work on that together, because me and Kelly do want to make this as easy as possible for the both of you." Stella then took a breath, turning to look at Kelly; and it seemed like she had something on her mind at the moment. "Speak up Kidd."

Stella's POV:
Taking a breath when Matt told me to speak up, I continued to look at Kelly while holding his hand. "I'm not sure if Kelly likes this idea, but I think that me and you can both just concentrate on making sure that you guys take it easy. I think that our main priority as we start this as a team, is that we can concentrate more on the business; and then, you guys can concentrate more on the pregnancy. That's really where your priority should be Matt." Kelly agreed with me when I said that, smiling as he intertwined our fingers. "I agree with Stella when she says that, because I know that's what you guys need to do right now. You need to concentrate on your wife man. And we can live off living with you for a bit, so that we can work late and easily. I mean, if you'll have us." I then smiled. "I mean, we're already going to be there late all the time; with me helping Gabby with the kids whenever I can, since I love that idea. And then you're going to need Kelly."

Matt agreed with me when I said that, continuing to drive downtown while we also talk about all of this. "So, I think that we can already agree to these terms; because they are good terms, and I love living at your place already. I have my girl there with me, and we're just going to have fun with each other." Kelly agreed with me when I said that, smiling at me. "Plus, I love having a nice place like that. We don't have to buy food and stuff." I laughed. "I mean, you would also just be paying for our home anyways; so we might as well just stay in your nice place, which has a great pool and a bunch of things that I have used. There's a nice gym, and there's a bunch of other things that I want to continue using for a while." Matt agreed with me, smiling. "I think that definitely can work for me. You guys live with us, and we work on this together next year." Gabby then agreed with her husband, smiling when she said that. "I love the idea of you living there too Stella."

I agreed with Gabby when she said that, smiling as I thought about how we're going to be living with our best friends while we work on the company together. I then turned to look at Kelly, smiling at him. "Plus, you're still going to need Matt for a while. So, I think that's something that you're going to enjoy." Kelly agreed with me when I said that, smiling since that was a really good point. "I love that idea, and I am so ready to live at their place for a while." I agreed with Kelly when he said that, smiling due to the fact that this life that we're already starting is perfect. And there's nothing like the idea of us living with our best friends, which is going to be great. "I mean, only if that's what you guys are okay with. If you aren't okay with that, then we can easily find a place to live; and you would be able to pay for it." Gabby laughed when I said that, clearly not okay that I just offered to do that. And that can only mean one thing, she's going to want me to live there.

Gabby's POV:
When I heard Stella say that we're just going to pay for their place, if they don't live with us; I just shook my head and laughed as that was going to be the truth, so she might as well stay with us. Turning to look at Matt, I smiled as I really hoped that he would be okay with the idea of our friends living with us. "I'm leaving it up to you baby. If you're okay with our best friends living with us for a while, then that's definitely something that I would be okay with." Matt agreed with me when I said that, smiling. "Of course, I'm going to love that idea, as it means that I can be home more. I think that our home is going to be our office for a while." I agreed with Matt when he told me that, well aware that was the case; I mean, that's something I love anyways, as it means that I'm going to be able to have my husband with me all the time. "I love that idea to tell you the truth, as it means that you're going to be here. And that's something that I definitely want right now."

Matt agreed with me when I told him that, probably well aware of the reason that I want him there; and that would be as I want to have help with the kids. "And I promise to be there, as I want to be there when the kids are young." I agreed with Matt when he told me that, as that was the exact reason that I wanted my husband to be there with me. "Oh, I definitely want my husband home after I give birth to our twins." Matt agreed with me when I said that, smiling as he proceeded to grab my hand. Stroking my hand with his thumb, Matt then smiled as he proceeded to intertwine our fingers. Holding him close to me, I smiled as I am definitely ready to just hold the man close to me for the rest of the night; and even better, when we're having fun together in bed after we get home from the bar. But for now, we're just going to dance too. That's really what I want to do. I want to dance with my husband. "So, are you guys going to do some dancing tonight?"

Turning to look at my best friend, I smiled and agreed with her when she asked me that. "Yeah, I definitely want to dance with Matt; and that means that you're going to need to dance with Kelly, so that he doesn't keep my husband from dancing with me." Matt shook his head when I said that, not wanting me to worry about him not wanting to dance with me. "Baby, I'm going to want to dance with you tonight; and I promise that we'll do it at some point, because I want to enjoy this night together." I agreed with Matt when he told me that, smiling as I wanted to do the same thing. And the truth was, this is already the perfect night; and that's for the simple fact that me and Matt are together, out with our best friends as we get ready to ring in the New Year with them. Just looking at Matt, I smiled at him. "Do you want to drink tonight?" Matt shook his head. "No, but I might have one beer. I'm not sure yet." I agreed with Matt, smiling at my loving husband.

Kelly's POV:
When Matt said that he might have one beer, I just knew that I was going to be stuck doing the same thing. I think I might as well just drink the same amount as him, so that we can be there for the same amount of time as the both of them. I already have a feeling that we're going to be leaving earlier than we want to, as we need to be home early enough for Gabby. But little did I know, was that we would barely spend an hour at the bar before we would make our way back to their place.
